"I got plenty o' confidence," Rory huffed, but tilted his head, eyes closing, to accept the nuzzling. He cracked open one colorless eye. "When is dinner ready, girl? I'm starvin'."

Lee looked down toward the kitchen at Rory's question, just then noticing that all the servants from within were leaving the room. That's... odd. Hopefully the conversation between her parents was going alright. "Apparently... not for a while..." She looked up at him apologetically, hoping the boy could wait a bit longer.

The boy watched the servants exiting, frowning a bit. "Maybe your da needs a little support."

Lee bit her lip, sighing lightly at having to go down there. "Let's go..." She did find it odd, however, that there was no yelling, no obvious signs of any sort of fight going on. Standing, she reluctantly started walking down the steps, looking at the somewhat embarrassed faces of the servants walking around aimlessly now that they were banned from the kitchen.

Rory followed her down, giving an apologetic look to the servants as the walked past them to the kitchen.

Lee walked up to the kitchen door, not hearing any voices from within. Sighing softly, she eventually opened the door open a crack, peeking inside. What she found was both shocking and disturbing, the opposite of what she was expecting. Closing the door back shut, Lee looked up to Rory, giving him a confused look before stepping out of the way so he could look himself. Her parents had been... hugging? That was weird. Very weird. And uncomfortable to think about.

Rory opened the door a crack and peered inside, blinking a little at what he saw as well. He was used to affection between parents as his own had no lack of love for each other, but he had come to accept that Lee's parents didn't care much for each other anymore. Seeing them hugging and Lee's dad comfort her mother as she cried--maybe she wasn't that heartless after all--made him smile a bit. There was hope for them yet. He shut the door and stepped back to look at Lee, holding one arm out a bit if she felt the need for a hug as well.

Lee was getting the sort of "I just saw my parents doing it" feeling, even though it had been nothing close to that. Her mother... being vulnerable. It was such an uncomfortable feeling. Lee clung to Rory, but only to bury her face into his chest to rid her mind of those images.

Rory rubbed Lee's back gently, making soothing noises. "There now, lass. It's alreet." What else could he say? He'd never really had any awkward moments with his parents.

Sighing and shaking her head a bit, Lee looked up at Rory, still as confused, before pulling him over to the bottom steps, sitting down. "Did you hear them say anything? What'dya think they were talking about?" Now she was a little curious. What could possibly make her mother hug someone?

"I didnae hear them talkin', just your da comfortin' her while she wis cryin'," Rory answered, sitting down next to her. "I'd imagine she's prolly upset tha' she'll eventually hae some half-pikey grandkids."

"...Crying?" She looked up at Rory incredulously before turning her head back toward the door. Wow. This just got raised to a whole new level of awkward. Nothing could make her mother cry. Or at least that's what she'd believed up until today.
Her thoughts were cut short when the doorbell rang, servants scattering about to look like they were doing their jobs. The doorman hurried toward the door, and Lee stood, slightly worried about who might walk inside.

Rory remained seated, if only because he could see up Lee's dress from this angle. Well, he was still a young man, after all. As the door opened, he sat up more finally standing to take Lee's hand.

And the doors opened to reveal... Jeremy. Fantastic. Lee's mouth fell open before she looked up to Rory, blinking with confusion. "... But..." Why? Her mother already called him over?

Rory's expression went dark as he pulled Lee closer, a possessive arm going around her waist. Her mother had some nerve to already ask Jeremy over. The young man said nothing, keeping his arm around Lee and glaring at the other man.
