" I thought that Hag would never die." The cat agreed, seeming distasteful at the idea of the old woman. stretching he yawned, adding in a pleased tone. " thank you for not screaming.. your grandmother hit me with a pillow the first time we met, she was not a very open minded woman." but much better than the hag that had taken Luna in.. Hex had hated that old woman with a vengence. at least Luna's grandmother had been kind and, after the inicial shock of a talking cat, had settled into a friendship with him. kneading his paws against her thigh he continued to pur, adding. " you could live in her home, it is still well kept."

Stubbornly he butted his head against her hand, his tail twitching as he blinked at her. " all of them?" he had known her line for more years than most could fathom.. but if she asked, he would list them all.

" They didnt put you there, foolish girl. your mother would have sooner killed herself than give you up." fur bristling the cat lept to the floor, sitting with his back to her and tilting his head so he could study her with one keen eye. " they died and that hag took you away. you wouldnt remember, i realize.. you were what, three? four?" she had carried him around yelling Xie.. literally the first time in his life he had allowed such a thing. shaking the memories off he twitched his tail, dismissing the topic. " your mother was a kind woman, a healer for her caravan.. she adored you, she named you after the moon because only it could rival your perfection. her favorite flower was a daisy, her favorite song was the one you beat out on your fathers guitar for her when you were two." he paused, slanting a look back at her again as he added. " your father was a idiot, but i enjoyed his company from time to time. he was very.. unique. he lived to spoil you and your mother."

" ..." The cat looked to the side, odd eyes narrowing almost as if in pain. " they were.. at peace.. with what was comeing. that is all i will say." for a long time the silence filled the church after that.. broken only when a heavy leather coat fell over Luna's shoulders and its buckles jangled. Hex sat just to her right, legs folded indian style and his elbows braced on his knees.. his head forward, allowing his long hair to hide his face as he took a slow breath. he hadnt been in human form for nearly 4..maybe 500 years? it was a vast change from his four legged form. slowly he regained some memory of how to move in this body, pulling Luna into his lap and hugging her tightly as he managed in a rasping tone. " cry it out, kitten, i wont let anyone find out." it seemed to trouble humans when they cried.. but he knew she needed to. hell, he needed to.. and he wasnt nearly human.

" i will stay." he promised, his strange gaze on the floor. he had lived with this girls family so long.. it was almost horrifying to imagine being apart from it. being kept away by that hags spell had been pure hell for him, more so when he saw how unhappy Luna was. when she was sleeping he simply held still, allowing her to rest as he listened for a threatening sound. he wouldnt let Luna be taken from him too.

freezing his eyes opened slightly, his gaze flicking to hers in question. she was the only one he tolerated calling him that.. but it was so long ago. " how do you know that name..?"

blinking he studied her, for a moment at a loss at how to respond. so she did remember, she just didnt know it yet. shaking himself he gave a small nod, answering in his usual way. " i dont feel the cold." lifting his hand he opened it, studying his palm as he added in a oddly quiet tone. " a black cat.. i was never far off, luna. i tried to stay away so the hag wouldnt notice you, but i failed.. like i failed your parents..."

" your father was a bear of a man, wise and always takeing things with a grain of salt. your mother balanced him perfectly.. sweet and trusting of everyone. it didnt matter what a person did.. she would try to help them." his fingers closed around hers gently, his eyes closing as he pushed back the guilt he had felt for the last decade. " but i did fail, Luna.. i led her right to your family. im not.." what you think.. what all of you had thought. only the first gypsy had known what he really was.. a vampire.. none others had ever known.. until the night his family died. the hag, young at the time, had stumbled upon his feeding.. shocking him enough that he shifted and fled. she had hunted him ever since, determind to shackle his powers for her use. Luna's parents... had protected him when he ran to them, weak and hungry. the hag hadnt found him that day thanks to them.. but in return, it had cost them everything. "... im so sorry.."
