We have weta. Although I've only ever seen one my whole life and I didn't find it scary then, as a child, so as a result now I quite like them.

We don't have 1.5 inch mosquitoes, but this year we're gonna have a ton. The repeated high flooding has left the ground saturated and area's usually above the local water level have become small stagnant pools. Mosquito larva paradise. I'm not going to be able to step outside with out a gallon of repellent on.

Part me is feels like; "Well, I lived a good life. Can't live on the same planet as those guys." Another part is like; "I could buy it a leash, and name it Hubert Morningdale, and feed it kibbles n bits."

Corabella Part me is feels like; "Well, I lived a good life. Can't live on the same planet as those guys." Another part is like; "I could buy it a leash, and name it Hubert Morningdale, and feed it kibbles n bits." It's okay, they only live in my country and anyway in 25 years I've only seen one. The big big ones only live on one tiny island because the rats and cats have eaten them all.

In other news I'm now convinced that we have a Bobcat living in the woods behind the house mrgreen Last fall I found a tree that had been shredded and the height and distance between the claw marks was consistent with a Bobcat, but there were no other signs. Tuesday evening Hubby and I were taking a walk and found a kill. Wounds were consistent with a cat vs the feral dogs/coyotes we have in the area and there was another shredded tree and scat as well 4laugh

Even if it did, at least you could see one of those coming. And Corabella, Hubert Morningdale? Why does that sound kind of familiear?

Someone thought it would be a brilliant idea to fill in the swamp near my dad's place to build a housing development. What they accomplished was to raise the already high water table for the entire area and now everyone's yard and septic system floods every time it rains. And did I mention this has been one of the wettest years I can remember around here?

And did I mention this has been one of the wettest years I can remember around here? The city expanded the culvert that goes under the road/bridge in front of our house. The stream curves as soon as it exits. This has resulted in the erosion of the bank under the bridge that is our driveway and increased flooding in the back. It used to be forested, now it's a flooded forest and trees that have been there for decades are being uprooted because of the increased erosion and constant flooding.

Oh yeah Shearaha, I get that. My dad lives on 16 acres of woods. All those trees with shallow root systems just fall over in a moderate wind.
