Okay Let's See if I can Help.

Lyra Elizabeth
Ok, here we go. This is going to be sort of long, by the way. EDIT: Actually, it's very long. Don't say I didn't warn you. XD
Things in square brackets are comments/questions.
Now lets play "spot the errors" and discuss everything that you think is wrong with it!

Threads to create:
General Info and RP rules (Announcement – I think Adonis wanted to make a post of some sort too)
Shops info +applications (sticky?)
Residential Areas (sticky)
St Mungo’s Hospital (sticky?)
Shops (normal threads)

All shops and residential areas should have an abbreviation at the beginning of the thread title. Eg, HgsMd: Joke Shop.
RA: Residential Areas
HgsMd: Hogsmeade
DgnA: Diagon Alley

General Info Thread:

Aging:
You are now a Hogwarts graduate. After one term, you will be 30 years old. You will then age one year per term.

Children:
At the start of each term (once you are 30), you may choose to have a child. After one term, this child will be 11. They will then age one year per term.
Once your child is 11, they may start at Hogwarts as a first year. They will be in the same house that you were in. Once they graduate, you can no longer have any children (remember that this will be about 2 RL years after you first graduated). You can choose to RP with either your original character or the newer one (the child; they will age as a new graduate would).

Residential Areas (RA):
There are four residential areas, one for each Hogwarts house. These are sort of like common rooms, except theoretically each one contains a bunch of houses. How they are organized has been left up to each individual Hogwarts house [[should we put in some basic guidelines for this?]], so make sure you read the rules for your house’s residential area.
Gryffindor: Godric’s Hollow
Ravenclaw: Raven’s Glen
Hufflepuff: Brock’s/Broad Valley
Slytherin: ?

Shops:
Once you have graduated, you can own your own shop. It can either be a shop from the HP books (Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley) or one of your own making. To do this, you must fill out a shop application in THIS[link] thread.

{{For when there are a few shops up and running:
Once you have graduated, you may work in someone else’s shop. Simply ask the shop owner if they will “hire” you (if they agree to, post in the shops application thread). You must work in another shop for one term before you can apply to have your own shop.
Each shop may have one owner and one “employee”. (Subject to change to two if there are many new graduates).
Once you have completed the above requirement, you may apply to have your own shop by filling out a shop application.}}

Shop Information + Application Thread:
[[From general info thread:]]Once you have graduated, you can own your own shop. It can either be a shop from the HP books (Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley) or one of your own making. You must fill out a shop application form (below). Please note that shops will be approved only if they are likely to attract a reasonable amount of RP.

Current shops + owners:

-
-

[[Possible idea: Make these two to begin with, though someone can still apply to own them?
Inn/tavern (graduates only)
Tavern (everyone)]]

Ideas for shops:
(A good place to look is the HP Lexicon, under either Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley. Please consider that only shops which are likely to get a reasonable number of posts (attract RP) will be accepted. We don’t want shops that will simply sit there empty because that will cause the forum to die.)
Zonko’s Joke shop
Sweet shop
Magical items/instruments shop
Potions shop/Apothecary (potions ingredients)
Miscellaneous/School supplies (quills and parchment, cauldrons, scales)
Animal shop/Vet (owls, cats, rats, toads, etc)
Flourish & Blotts (bookstore: textbooks, interest books, novels)
Clothing store (robes, school robes, quidditch robes, dress robes)

Shop Application:
Please make sure you have read the information above before applying to own a shop.

Username:
RP name:
Is this an original shop from the books?:
Shop location: Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley (don’t forget the appropriate abbreviation when creating your thread)
Shop name:
Description: (what does it sell?)
[[What else should be included here?]]
{{If we decide to change the rules about shops after a couple terms, a question about "have you worked in another shop for at least one term?" will need to be added at that time.}}

I agree that should be added later we are up and running but, I cant think of anything to add.

We should put some basic guides for the average house. For Example the rules of the house, like we talked about.

The only thing I don't agree with in this is that the Inn (which I think I might run, if it's okay with everyone, it was my idea)is going to need more then 1 other person as an 'employee'. I would probably need 2-3 'employees'.

Also are we going to have a seperate thread for applying. I'm a little confused. If we do, it could be like the Staff room. If we don't, should they just post that info in the shop?

Also you didn't discuss where everyone (grads) would live during this period (Either the Inn or if they have a family home already up and running).

I thought we desided the Hogsmeade had enough shops for everyone. Especially since we can also make new stores.

Everything else I agree with.

Also, I just wanted to say thanks to you Lyra for keeping everything together and your and everyone elses amazing ideas.
(Sorry If that's confusing I tried to put everything in order of what you talked about)

Thanks Tina! I'm not sure how I managed to miss a couple of those things; thank you. I think I'll just edit my original post, rather than posting a new list.
-I agree about the inn. We'll make it two people for now.
-There will be a separate thread containing a bit more info about shops (what I said in my original post - a list of current shops and owners, ideas for shops, shop application form) and where grads will post their shop application forms.
-For where I put "[[should we put in some basic guidelines for this?]]": What do you mean exactly by "For example the rules of the house, like we talked about"? If this has been discussed before, I apologize but I do not remember it. Would you please remind us all what was said?

Don't worry about it Lyra. After everything we talked about if I had wrote it, we surely would have missed more, lol.
- Two people is fine.
- That sounds good like a SFQ and Staff Room but, for the Shops.
- Remember we talked about each house having it's own rules. For example, one family house is very strict and you arent allowed to talk unless spoken to. Or the another family house is more open to free speech and opinion.

I actually don't remember that sorry. Do you know what page of the thread it was on?
I think it's fine if the owner of a house wants to make some rules for their house, if that's what you're saying. It is THEIR house, after all.
My question about guidelines was more about guidelines for the RA threads in general, not specific houses.

Thought: Can RA's have like a park or something too? Some sort of place where the grads in that house can RP together? Not shops though, since those are in Hogsmeade.

Wouldn't the Inn be a place where grads can RP together?

I love what this is all coming too. Can't wait to be a bigger part of it!

Okay I misunderstood the question then, because it was about the owner as you said. As for guidelines for the RA's in General I'll have to think about it, I'll pm you if I come up with anything then post it here.

As for the Park. I think its a good idea but, I think having to many places to be at first will make the fourm die out and we dont want that. They can already go to the inn. Maybe we can add it later after we get everything up and running.

> Rayne: Yes. It's sort of a tavern too, so yes, it will be.

> When the sub-forum first opens, I think it will be good to have the inn and the other tavern up and running. Would anyone like to run those or be an "employee"?
I know Avatar asked to run the inn. I'm fine with it; how about everyone else? Any issues?
> Should grads be able to own one shop and also be an "employee" in one other shop, or not?

> Avatar: Oh, ok. Sorry about the confusion.
> I agree that too many places to RP will makes things die. And we can't live in the RA's for a term anyway, since we're meant to live in the inn for a term first. Once we are actually living in the RA's we can sort of tweak them as needed. I think some of this is really going to be trial and error.

Maybe at first they could own a shop and be an employee somewhere else, but I really don't think we are going to need to. But if we do, we can alway tweak things later on right!

Please call me Tina, lol, I'm getting sick of Avatar lol. I'm thinking of changing my username, lol.

I agree, alot of things are going to be trial and error but that's how it goes so hopefully we can all stay together and figure things out.

Sorry. I wasn't sure if Tina was your name (or at least the name you use on Gaia) or just your RP character's name (in which case you would only be called that in RP and not discussions). I will make sure I call you Tina from now on. biggrin

And yes, we can change things if we need to. Though it would be nice to get things as close as possible beforehand.

Yeah, I know, it would be. The more we talk about everything now, the better it will be for later.
Did we ever offically decide who was going to make the RA's? If so has everyone been contacted?

I'll make the contacts because I have special instructions for them all because the grad subforum won't be open to two of them until maybe the middle of spring term.

Threads to Create: Announcement (Adonis-General Info and RP rules)
Also announcement: shop info/ application
My suggestions on stickies: Only the four ras should be stickied. St Mungo's should be a normal thread as well.

Questions:Who approves the shops? Are these shops specifically RP (or gold earning shops)?

Remember that this is another RP subforum (specifically for graduates) but the ideas are specifically for that subforum.
For instance: you might have kids or whatever, but when we do our post lists for the Houses or events you're looked at as one member.

Basically don't let there be too many rules so that other grads are really limited in their fun.

As for who appoves the shops maybe it could be the same people that are making the Grads Forum Or we could all have a say and then 'elect' someone to do the actual approving/unapproved. I like the second better but, as long as someone who is in the guild alot and can be trusted to pick and chose what is best for the forum, It will be fine with me. As for the shops being rp, yea thats what I thought we were doing, them the street venders were going to be the stores that sold things for gold. (Did I missunderstand?)

I thought the shops were going to be RP.

We're going to have street vendors? I didn't know that. Where will they be?
You know the thread that is currently in the discussion subforum right now about people who want to buy or sell things? We could just have something like that (or even just move that one to the grads subforum) where people can post things that they want to buy or sell and then whoever is in charge of the thread can arrange it in two lists, "buy" and "sell" so that people can easily see what there is on offer.
