"You gotta Jump Jump!"

I have an idea. How about a class system incorparated into the Game System. Since this system is based on D20 rules, where are the character classes? It would make sense, plus it would force certain characters more towards certain styles of techniques depending on what class they were.

Such as the class primarily orientated around Medical Ninjutsu would be the Medics or Medic-Nin. There would be classes orientated around different elements. Classes orientated around different weapons. Certain classes could be cross classed, with each class having their own levels, so when you level up and have more than one class, you would have to choose one of your classes to level up and not level up all of the classes. Certain classes would be incompatible to cross-class with each other though.

Each class would have their own advantages and disadvantages, such as increased stats or skills, or reduced restrictions for certain kinds of techniques. The inability to learn or use certain techniques. Vulnerability to certain weapons or elements. Modifiers to how much HP they have, or their Dodge bonus, or their Basic Save Bonus. Hell, even what kind of weapons they could use could be restricted. Maybe even a class orientated around summoning and such?

It would have to be very unique so the guys in Hidden Villages don't go screaming Copyright Infringement at us for the classes, although that would be kind of bullshit since their are character classes in any D20 system so they would be illegally claiming copyright on the D20 system and they would be in copyright infringement... oh the irony...

"That is what the base is for"

Clans are our equivalent to classes. Though not all of them are as powerful or restrictive as others, they do tend to lead their members to focus on certain fields. We've got enough layers in here that aren't fully polished, so how about we don't go adding in more things?

Statbuffing items? A nice looking piercing could easily increase someone's charm or intimidation. A sword which is huge could increase intimidation and have some negative effects on diplomacy and hide. An enchanted collar could increase one's chakra?

Am I smart or am I samtr?

"Classes" - No, sorry. It's too restrictive, plus Aruil has a point.

"Stat buffing items" - Love the idea. I actually have some for sale in Kiri... xd
I'll keep it in mind ^_^ I do love the idea.

I imagine that someone needs to create the appropriate Fuuin Jutsu to make the creation of stat buffing items possible.

that... is a WONDERFUL idea.

Although I don't think Fuuin Jutsu would ALWAYS be applicable, maybe Craft or something lol.

The only real skills that could be affected by something that's made without any sort of Fuuin imbuing would be Charisma based skills. Even then it'd be primarily to Seduction and Intimidate. However at what point are we crossing into Legendary items? My main reason for keeping it at requiring Fuuin and not making it as simple as craft is because of how long the 'universe' has existed prior to this sort of inclusion. It's alot easier to say that stat buffing items weren't around because the appropriate jutsu's hadn't been developed yet. As opposed to saying that craftsmen simply couldn't make earrings shiny enough before to attract the opposite sex. And if it's as easy as crafting, it's harder to control people as they initially create characters. Imagine a new Level 1 trying to join your village saying that he gets +25 to intimidate because he wears spikes all over his clothing and has a few tattoos. While you can just tell him 'no', it's much easier to just not have that even be an option in his mind from the get go.

But I'm cynical and expect people to cut corners at every chance they get. Especially when their first post in a village is asking about how much EXP they get for jutsus and missions when they haven't even gotten a character approved.

Heh, well i was imagining that I wouldn't allow any stat buffing items to be introduced into the role play without being created by a RPC. Your explanation makes sense though, although the whole "Craft can't create stat/skill buffing effects" is completely overturned by specialty and god legacy items...
PostPosted: Thu Jul 08, 2010 12:03 am

Which is fine. That's what makes them god legacy items. I don't however think that we (or rather you, as I'm not crew) should even give people the option of making such things from scratch. It's hard enough getting a core group of people to work from student to genin. As Kiri is finding out itself currently.

I would be plenty willing to throw back and forth ideas for how development would work with Fuuin. However considering there has been no talk against the idea of stat buffing items, it's probably safe to move further discussion elsewhere. The status of this has moved from Suggestion to Project in my opinion.

Well, I was looking at body flicker, because Raiton Armor actually makes it into a move that can match that of the Flying Thunder God Technique. But, the requirements, etc, no longer match the system we got now...

A lot of them need redoing...

What system are you thinking of....

There WILL be changes, but they will not be implemented until after the time skip. Well. Kumo is an exception. smile (But only skills wise)
