"It is not though. Our males are predators, capable of unspeakable acts of darkness. Our predatory nature is strong and we struggle all of our lives to keep it in check. As we age, it grows harder and harder, the beast demanding release and tearing at out souls each time we make a kill. This call turns some of our males into the soul-less monster that is the vampire." Ade's face was passive and his eyes were distant. Galiena was going to hear just how much of a monster he was, how much of one he could be. "The women are light and pure, the only thing that can truly chain the beast and stop the darkness that stains our souls. A lifemate gives a male courage and hope, reminding him that there is still good in the world to fight for." Ade looked into her eyes. He waited to see the rejection in them.

She bit her lip thoughtfully "Ok.. so its more balanced than i thought... but... what happens if the female is JUST as... dark or whatever? Just because we're female doesn't mean we're light and goodness..."

"That does not happen. I believe that every male feels that his woman is light and goodness, despite what his lifemate might say. But, to answer your question, there are female hunters with lifemates, and they provide the companionship and love that saves a soul. She loves him regardless of the many beings he has had to kill. How anyone could love a monster is a mystery to many of us."

She rolled her eyes and bopped his head lightly "Your not monsters! You said it yourself thats your nature. " She tilted her head "Besides you told me you didn't kill when you drink blood. Have you killed in other circumstances then?" She wasn't condemning.. just curious.

"Ah I see... so you killed those who already fell into darkness with no chance of a lifemate to pull them back out?" She rolled her eyes and said dryly "Yes.. I can see how protecting your people and others and giving peace to those who DID become Vampires makes you a horrible monster..."

She grinned "Yeah well.. apparently you being dark means you lost your common sense. Did you really think that was going to scare me away? Geez... if I can handle you drinking blood (even if its not from me yet) then I think I can handle whatever past and/or future you have killing vampires..."

She kissed him, surprisingly a bit timidly, back and grinned as she entered his mind slowly 'Always with the merging minds thing. Really you would think that was all it took to sweep a girl off her feet..' She smiled softly though at the feelings she got from him... glad she could make him that happy with just a few words.
