Serenity giggled and leaned back into Beren's arms.
"They're like children," she told him with a mischievous grin. "Big children, but children nonetheless."
Beren chuckled and leaned forward to kiss Serenity on the forehead. "Don't you remember when we learned you were pregnant with Elnara?" he reminded her gently. "You were no different."

He nearly fell over laughing partly because of the height difference and partly just because he was smiling and laughing. With joy... he and Elnara were going to have a child, and if he realized the implications this would have meant to him over a century ago it would have sent him into shock.
No one expected someone like Lore to have a child with another... much less marry.
But expectations were always meant to be broken.

Elnara hugged Lore even tighter, never wanting to let go of him. He was so wonderful ... and now they were going to have a child! Could things be any better?
"I suppose I'd better eat then," she smiled up at him, "even if I'm not hungry ..."

"Oh, you've got that right," Serenity put in, raising one eyebrow. "You haven't been eating right? No wonder you look so tired ... go on, Elnara, go have something to eat ... your father and I will wait, you'll be here for months yet."
Beren chuckled and put one hand on Serenity's shoulder.
"We could always sit in the dining room with her and chat while she's eating," he pointed out with a smile. He glanced over at Lore. "If you don't mind, that is."

"Don't mind at all," Lore assured Beren.
He motioned towards the kitchen, even though he was a bit bogged down at the moment. He hadn't stopped smiling and his mind was still reeling from the news.
"It would be nice to have company."

Elnara giggled, still feeling quite giddy.
"You make it sound like we never see anyone," she teased Lore, feeling far better than she had earlier. "Honestly, we don't go more than half a day without someone coming to visit or invite us over!"
And then she remembered.
"Oh, Mother, Ada, I made a late breakfast for myself and Lore," she told them. "But there's more than enough for us ... would you like to have some?"

"We'd love to," Serenity replied without hesitation, "but are you sure there's enough? I mean ... if you only made for two ... four makes it a bit skimpy, doesn't it?"
Especially since Elnara had to eat despite her lack of appetite ...

"Elnara made a lot," Lore replied.
And really he wasn't a heavy eater to begin with even though he did eat his breakfast to begin with. He smiled reassuredly at the two.
"It'll be fine."

Elnara blushed. "I thought I was hungry when I started cooking," she explained, "but once it was all ready ... I just sort of lost my appetite. So yes, there is plenty for all four of us."
When they reached the dining room, instead of sitting down and eating like she knew she was supposed to, she headed to a cupboard and got some more dishes for her parents.

As Serenity and Beren sat at the table, Beren smiled at Elnara.
"I can see you've gotten quite comfortable here," he chuckled softly. "I imagine it really does feel as if this place is yours."

"Well thanks to everyone it does feel that way," Lore smiled Elnara beat him to the cupboards so he took a seat, "We were amazed when first seeing it and have been taking advantage of the large glass wall."
It was the perfect place to sit and talk if they didn't want to go outdoors after all.

Elnara smiled warmly as she brought the dishes to the table and set to places for her parents.
"At first it was a little hard to get used to the quietness," she added, serving them food from the pan in the middle of the table, "but now that we're used to it ..."
She blushed slightly.
"It might be a little hard to go back home."

Serenity giggled. "Don't you worry, you'll get used to it all again in no time," she assured her daughter. "The children will be happy to have you back ..."
She giggled again, mischievously this time. "And of course you'll have a surprise of your own for them ... a new sibling, if all goes well."

"Now that is a surprise I'm looking forward to see," Lore chuckled.
He knew that most of the children didn't really understand the concept of a natural birth, so to see a baby brother or sister will certainly interesting.. wonderful... educational...
Joyful....
"And we get to see the home we'll be living in wehn we get back," Lore added, "It's a good thing we asked for a home with plently of rooms, more than the children we know will be staying with us."

"Oh, right," Serenity smiled, remembering suddenly about the move. "New house ..."
She laughed. "Oh well, I suppose that it will take quite a bit of time to adjust to returning home!" she giggled. "Still, I'm sure it won't be any harder than it was adjusting to this house. You'll be fine."
