"Alright Golbat. There's no escaping this attack. And Sandslash is protected so there will be no way to counter it. Flap your wings to reduce the damage until the attack is over!"

Because of the spacing between all of the holes, the streams would hit from every side and continue for a good one minute before Sandslash began to tire. When Robert saw the spacing of the stars begin to weaking, he called out his next command. "Alright, now, Trap Door Type 2!" Robert called out. Upon hearing thins, Mathias used dig once more, but in a much different way. He only dug downward deep enough to cover his body and used the dirt he dug up to camoflauge himself to look like the floor, also combining this with defensive curl for added protection. Robert was counting on Jake to attack to try and flush Sandslash out with one of his pokemon, and when that would fail because of Mathias's covering, send Golbat or another pokemon into the honeycomb itself, and then the real fun would begin. And if Poliwrath was sent out to flood the Honeycomb, then he would use his next underground trick.

By the time Sandslash had finished the attack, Golbat had taken a lot of damage, leaving Golbat with less than half health left. Luckily, Jake had a trick up his sleeve. "Candra, use splitting confusion into each of the holes!" Golbat quickly fired a series of soundwaves into one of the holes and then followed up with an air cutter. Because air cutter moved much quicker than the confuse ray, it blasted through the waves, combining the two attacks. The splitting confusion was sent into the first hole. Golbat rapidly repeated this combination into each hole in the ground. Jake was almost positive he would be able to land a hit, confusing Sandslash and doing some damage.

Robert watched as Golbat threw down attack after attack into the holes. Howeverm his Sandslash had covered itself with a good foot of dirt deeper inside the honeycomb. All of Golbat's attacks would pass by harmlessly over the level dirt ground. "Alright, now let's go for the gold. Backdoor exit!" Robert called out. Digging his way under the honeycomb, Mathias emerged five feet away from it and launched another Swift attack at Golbat, using his little 'break' as a means to recharge his batteries so to speak.

Golbat was struck by Sandslash's swift attack. Causing her to fall to the ground fainted. "Alright then. Golbat, return!" Charmeleon, go and use our dragon spin technique!" Charmeleon sent a spiraling flame towards Sandslash and then used a dragon rage attack through the spiraling flames. If this technique worked right, Sandslash would be hit by both fire spin and dragon rage.

Robert wasn't as worried about fire as he was about the dragon rage. Swift wouldn't be able to intercept the dual attack, and he already did his honeycomb trick. He could easily blast through it with greater effect with his current attack. However, since Dragon rage always did a set amount of damage, and Sandslash was strong to fire, Robert went with his only option. "Mathias, cannonball through it!" Robert commanded. Using the combo of defensive curl and rapid spin, Mathias used all of his strength to power through the blast. Although the spin minimised, perhaps even nutralized the fire damage, he would still feel the pain of the dragon rage attack.

Jake watched as Sandslash spun through Charmeleon's attack. However, Sandslash's rapid spin was coming Jake's way. "Charmeleon. Wait for it and use Metal Claw when in close range!" Charmeleon used metal claw when sandslash was within striking range.

"Use that rapid spin at full power!" Robert called out, eager for his Sandslash to srike home. Even if Metal Claw landed, a full on attack from Sandslash's rapid spin would certainly injure Charmeleon, and if it resulted in a faint, then at least Robert would be free to switch out pokemon agian.
Sandslash would take damage from metal claw once it hit, but not before at least hammering in some damage with rapid spin. "Now, Swift at close range!!" Robert called out. Mathias put everything into this last attack. Another hit by metal claw or dragon rage would faint him, but any fire attack would simply singe him. And Robert already had a plan ready for Jake and Charmeleon.

Jake watched as Charmeleon took damage from rapid spin. However, Charmeleon was Jake's strongest pokemon, and he knew he wouldn't give up that easily.
Remembering Robert's strategy from earlier in the battle, Jake gave out his next command, "Charmeleon, use dig to cover yourself with ground!" Charmeleon quickly dug himself into the ground and filled the hole. Jake hoped that the ground in between Charmeleon and Sandslash would be enough to avoid the swift attack.

Oh, his money for an Earthquake move. He was definately going to need to teach Sandshrew Earthquake at some point. However, Robert wasn't one to be outdone by his own move. "Mathias, use dig and plow into him with it!" Robert said. If this attack were to connect, it would do super effective damage to Charmeleon, and with Charmeleon being in the ground already, Sandslash's home, he was all but a sitting duck unless he got out.

Sensing danger in the upcoming situation, Jake quickly gave Charmeleon new commands, "Quick, tunnel out of there with full speed!" Speed being one of Charmeleon's best stats, he had about a fifty-fifty chance of escaping. However, if the move did hit, it would deal quite a bit of damage. Just before Charmeleon was out of the ground, Sandslash nailed Charmeleon in the foot. Uh-oh. That probably didn't do good to his ankle at all. I don't think he'll be able to hold out for the rest of this battle. But Jake was proven wrong when Charmeleon fought back tears and ignored the pain in his foot. He resumed battle. "Alright, nice job Charmeleon! Now let's operate plan smoke the monster out!" Charmeleon bent down at the nearest hole and shot a blast of dragon rage into the ground. Jake hoped this move would hit.

The move hit, fainting the weakened Sandslash. Give all he had been through, Robert was quite impressed at how well Sandslash did under the circumstances. Taking out one of Jake's pokemon and weakening two, Sandslash certainly pulld his weight. "Very nicely done Mathias. Now, take a rest." Now it was time to have Jake on the rrecieving end of being unable to recall his pokemon. "Lilly, Confusing Stare!" He said, bringing his Kirlia out into battle. Lilly unleashed a combination of of Mean Look laced with Confusion. if it didn't take out the already weakened Charmeleon, which Robert hoped it wouldn't, he would move on to phase two of his plan.

Kirlia's combination hit Charmeleon, leaving him unable to escape, and confused. Man, that's a really smart combination of Robert's. Because if it does confuse, the mean look prevents you from returning the pokemon to cure its confusion. Jake Looked at Charmeleon and then gave more orders, "Charmeleon, I don't want to put too much pressure on your ankle. Use a special attack, fire spin!"

Robert held out two pokeballs. "Lilly, return. Hogan, show him how a ral dragon rage is done!" Robert spoke before pulling his Kirlia back, replacing it with his ferocious Gyarados. Hogan released his dragon breath attack , aiming it directly at the fire spin. Robert hop[ed the dragon rage would cut through the fire spin and nail Charmeleon, and even if some of the fire got to Gyarados, his water typing would keep damage done to him to a minimum.

Charmeleon's fire spin attack failed as the dragon rage pushed it back and dealt damage to Charmeleon. Charmeleon had barely enough health to move on. "Alright Charmeleon, use dragon rage!" Charmeleon opened his mouth for a dragon rage attack and then slammed himself into the wall because of his confusion. Charmeleon fainted and fell to the ground. "Charmeleon, return." Charmeleon was absorbed by a red light back into his pokeball. Jake hoped that he wouldn't be too crushed by his loss.
After thinking for a few seconds, Jake sent out his next pokemon, "Munchlax, go and use Shock Wave!" Munchlax came from his pokeball and shot a jolt of electricity in Gyarados' direction. Luckily, shockwave was an attack like magical leaf and swift, and couldn't miss. Also, though Munchlax was small, shockwave would deal a double super effective attack at Gyarados because of his typing.
