Then why is it the only college course that gives you five credits? Nothing else gives you five credits or more. (except perhaps Russian, but I haven't seen a college near me that offers it.)

I don't think they necessarily base credit hours on how hard a class is. sweatdrop Or not entirely on that, anyways.

The hours thing just depends on how many hours (approximately) per week you're in class.
For example, my Chinese class meets three times a week, for 50 minutes (i.e. about an hour) each class. The class itself is 3 credit hours (an hour x 3 times a week), and then there's also a recitation for the other two days a week that's about an hour long (1:15, actually), which counts for 1 credit hour (despite the total of two and a half hours spent in recitation per week, so I guess it's kind of arbitrary), coming to a total of 4 credit hours.
But yeah, it has nothing to do with the difficulty of the class, because Chinese is my easiest class.

Am so Annoyed.
Our PM John Howard wants to make an English test (and a Aussie Values test) Part of the Citezenship test.
All teh time ESL funding in Oz has been cut. How are ESL teachers expected to help new arrivals with less tiem and money?
Bloody politicians. Make them learn a 2nd langauge and see how long it takes them!
Here endeth the rant.
And to Americans under the "no Child left behind Policy" I know, you have had this in your country before.

Americans can't even pass their own citizenship test That policy proved we are dumb , I saw something on it, that we compared scores with Belgium and Belguim was smarter than us

I think that English is a very hard language tolearn and that America is a sad place to be in!
We have the "No Child Left Behind Act" enforced, and many of our students are still not passing. It seems to me that America is the biggest, richest, and dumbest world power. How did we become one, if anyone could please inform me? ninja

Also, since we are a nation for all different races, we should NOT expect everyone to know English; it is unreasonable. If anyone wishes, they can ask me questions about English, since I have a pretty good grasp of the language.

Was "have" originally a verb, or did people only start using it instead of "have got"?
Also, are all Oxford Dictionaries British-English dictionaries only? My mother brouhgt me an American-English dictionary today, and thinking about it, I think it's the first time I've ever had or seen a specific one.

You guys, don't be so hard on yourselves. People of all nations are complete idiots, you don't really the world would be where it is today (or where it has been ever since monkies began walking on two) if you were the only ones with a problem, do you?
I'm not saying these people shouldn't be criticized, but there's so much stupidity outside of America, you shouldn't make it look like it's a fault only committed by your own country and Europe and Asia are the best examples of great education and marvelous behaviour. I think everyone should improve.

Does being a writer count?
I'd really love you to pieces if you took a look at my Journal.
Link's in my sig.
*crosses fingers and hopes this isn't spamming*
Anyways, English, very widely used language and it was forced on us when they invaded us. We've been speaking it ever since, because of the Penal Laws.

We've been speaking it ever since, because of the Penal Laws. Yeah, the English were well harsh when they invaded. I wish I spoke Irish as my first language (coz it's so cool compared to English), like my ancestors did (my grandmother spoke fluent Irish which is pretty cool) but I was raised in Britain so I speak English. Is the dialect of English spoken and learnt in Ireland the same as British English like I speak (e.g. spelling colour with a "u", pronouncing z as "zed", saying "tom-ar-to" etc)
