Arena 7 He had come to fight. It was unusually rare for Athous to challenge anyone to a match but this man had caught his interest somehow. Purple hair fell from the shadows of the pimp hat he wore upon his head its tips ending in blue strands that seemed to compliment his light skin tone. Upon his body he wore a large black coat that traveled down past his knees, falling just short of the arena floor, quite a feat to find such a jacket considering he stood at 6’1. They revealed nothing of his under apparel merely the dark metal laden boots that were upon his feet. “The light gives way to a new darkness that overtakes the soul upon its journey to salvation” he muttered under his breath. His eyes were not fixed upon who was soon to be his opponent, rather they were focused on the book that he held securely in his right hand. It was no higher raised than chest level and forced his eyes and head to be angled downward. His left hand was resting easily in its corresponding pocket.
"You may start whenever you are ready to swordsman." Athous voiced from several feet infront of his opponent.

-Arena 36- Humming was heard from the entrance of the arena, slowly growing louder as the source, a young girl, strode lightly into the room and across the floor. Her steps were light, graceful, and flowing, her lithe figure looking as though she were not just walking, but dancing to some unheard music. Perhaps that was why she was humming. Her long hair was so blonde it was almost white, and was done up in two side ponytails, tied with pale blue ribbons, what one would call ice blue. Her dress was the same color, a long, light outfit that stopped around her ankles. It didn't seem to impede her movement though, her long strides going unhindered. The girl's very short sleeves showed her arms, skin as pale as her hair. Somewhat detracting from the general etherealness of the teen were the two sticks protruding from either side of her waist. What the sticks were attached to, if anything, were hidden by pink leather pouches. She seemed lost in her own little world as she drew closer to Snow, but she finally stopped about 10 feet away, deep blue eyes blinking and staring at Snow as though he had appeared out of nowhere, the humming drifting off into silence. Her confused look suddenly shifted to a happy, dazzling, grin, and she waved enthusiastically. "Hi there! Are you here to fight too?" Even though she appeared to be in her late teens, the girl's mannerisms were much more reminiscent of a young child or preteen. "My name's Jeyme*, what's yours?"((*Pronounced like "Game" but with a "J" ))

The swordsman didn't need to wait long. Eyes flickering to gaze at the new arrival, his initial impression of the person he was GOING to fight crashed and burned in his mind.
Who the --
He stared blankly at the man in front of him. Purple hair wasn't something uncommon, but a pimp hat and a large black coat? The swordsman didn't know what to make of this, already feeling a tinge of disbelief at his foe's...taste in fashion. He can't say much however, knowing that his own fashion sense is probably as dull as the foe in front of him...but.. Ah well. A fight's a fight, and the swordsman should better concentrate on how to approach this stranger with caution.
His eyes trailed to give an overall glance at the foe. There was nothing he could see worthwhile that hinted how the opponent might fight, though the book held on the foe's right hand may be a small clue as what kind of style the foe may play with. Would the fight be magic? Close range combat? Hidden weapons or items to lure the swordsman into a false sense of security?
The swordsman narrowed his eyes, giving a frown in return to the possible things the foe might do. Nothing good came to mind from his gaze, and thinking any more about it would just leave the swordsman more troubled than necessary. He'll act carefully instead.
Giving a nod to the opponent, the swordsman readied his blades. Raising both weapons to be above hip level, the swordsman moved both arms close together, causing the blades to be held in front of his view. The left blade would be pointed towards the foe's left torso, while the right blade - elevated slightly higher than his left blade - would be pointing towards the foe's face.
Cautiously, the swordsman took a right step forward slowly, putting himself in a slight right-side stance. Using the tip of his toes for movement and maintaining his pose, the swordsman slowly moved around the opponent in a circular fashion, moving around the foe in a clockwise fashion from a fixed distance. He would keep his body continuously oriented to face the opponent while he moved, using subtle shifts of his footwork to maintain his stance towards the opponent.
While thinking of some possible ways to approach this unknown fighter, the swordsman made sure to watch attentively any hints or gestures from the foe. Attention to detail was one of the good things he is rather confident of, and in this case...since he doesn't know what the foe is capable of, this takes higher priority than rushing in recklessly in a suicidal manner.
Which brings up a good question for the wary swordsman; Just how will the opponent fight?
The air around the swordsman started to drop, his body showing signs of a misty blue aura which began to circle the swordsman in a lazy manner.
How will this foe attack...?

His ears picked up a faint tune from one of the arena entrances. Turning his body to face the tune, the swordsman spotted what seems to be a young girl approaching him, her dress--wait. Dress?
He blinked in surprise. Is this girl a spectator that wandered into this place accidentally? The swordsman stood there with a puzzled look on his face. Mouth parting open to speak, he paused briefly when he saw two rod-like objects protruding from either side of her waist. Wondering what was inside, he was about to ask if the girl was lost when she, instead, revealed otherwise.
"...Uh.."
Somewhere in the dark part of the swordsman's mind, he swore he heard a bit of Southern Belle accent. With her carefree attitude and how her manner seems...childish, the swordsman shrugged that thought away, remembering that he was in a tournament full of people of different race, gender, abilities and appearances.
Which only meant one thing. This girl is a trap.
"Yeah. I'm here for a fight." The swordsman replied, responding to her enthusiam with a soft smile. "A pleasure to meet you, Jeyme--you can call me Snow. I'm assuming you're interested in a fight?"

'The night sky tends to take on the erie light of our presence yet it cannot be felt by the mere mortal or being of this earth for we are eternal....'
Eyes slowly scanned the page of his reading material. It would seem as if his opponent did not want to initiate with the first assault. He was cautious, a trait Athous had also picked up from his many years of fighting. His left hand slowly raised from its resting place in the pocket of his coat. Would this startle his opponent? Possibly but it was not a sign of an attack but the sign that he was done with the page he was currently one. No change in his expression would take place as he slowly turned the page of his novel. Unknown to his opponent a small black mass made its way down the back legs of his pants, guarded from the sight of his opponent. With little effort tiles of the arena floor were broken through, the small almost inaudible crunch covered by a second, noisy turn of the pages of his book. If his opponent didn't go on the offensive soon, Athous would do so for him.

In a short while, a small orb materialized close to the swordsman's presence, revolving around him in a lazy fashion. Highly condensed water, superpacked into the size no larger than a baseball, the orb would be a front that allowed the swordsman to bolster his meta-abilities, allowing him to achieve higher levels of effects depending on the amount he has available currently. Obviously, the more orbs he has the more option he has for use... But against an unknown fighter, an orb ready for use is always better than none at all. And as for the current situation--
"...!"
The foe moved his left hand! Assuming that it was a trigger for some potential attack, the swordsman immediately responded to the opponent's motion, his slow pace suddenly speeding up drastically to confront against a potential strike. Shuffling both his feet against the ground, the swordsman kept his stance intact as he closed the distance between the two rather quickly, bending both his arms somewhat for a readied retaliation. In one flick of his left arm outwards --
-- the swordsman lashed out in a small swing with his left blade first, using the length of his blade to have the tip slash towards the foe's right thigh. The right blade would be held back from the bent arm, its tip angled to point a few inches above the foe's head.
What this may bring, the swordsman wouldn't know. But if he did give a damn right now, he'll worry about the consequences later when the foe responds to his first strike.

-Arena 36- Jeyme's eyes widened when he spoke his name. "Snow?" She clapped her hands together delightedly, twirling in a quick circle. "I love snow!"Her grin was ever wide as he asked his question. And because her narrator is scatterbrained, it's only now mentioned that her voice held a French accent to it, as light and dancing as her movement. "Yes, I would like a fight. They are so much fun!"With a flash of movement that held something unnatural about it, her left hand darted to the stick on her right side before fluidly pulling it to the left, her arm extending completely. The stick was just that, a wooden stick, nearly 2 feet long. Attached to it, and now flowing in a perfect, twisting spiral as she twirled her wrist, was a light pink ribbon, roughly 25 feet in length. The silk of the ribbon held nothing out of the ordinary, but the edges of it seemed to flash in the overhead lights. Glitter, maybe? Other than pulling that out, she made no other movement, and had actually been smiling at Snow during the whole process, which took only a few seconds. "I hope you are one of the good fighters, Monseiur Snow. So many here are mean and rough." Her pale pink lips pouted. All the while, the ribbon kept twisting and twirling in a large spiral to her left, those flashes still catching the light as she lazily spun her wrist.

There was just enough time for Athous to finish the turning his page. Well, one page was more than enough for now. The swordsman had made the first move much to the dismay of Athous, however it was for a reason outside of the most obvious one of an attacking foe. It meant he wouldn't be able to turn to the next page when he was done! That would not do at all. Even with his eyes down upon the pages of his book, every move Snow made was as plain as day. Athous was a special person and had an extraordinary field of vision that exceeded human view and even with his eyes down turned his peripheral vision was great enough to see several feet in all directions except behind him. At least without turning his head.
The slash succeeded in striking his right thigh but it would be met with resistance. The black mass that had been meant to be hidden just a bit longer beneath his clothing sprang to life and revealed itself to be a long thin chain that coiled around his leg like a snake. As the blade tore through his clothing and caught into one of the small links of the chain it lashed forward from beneath his clothing. Its goal was to quickly wrap around the blade of Snow's. Simultaneously the chain began to expand as if released from a compressed form. Snow had walked right into a trap.

Well, that confirms it. This girl is most definitely not a spectator, and the fact that her appearance doesn't match with the conventional fighters he'd met in the past told much about what he'll need to know. For one, as he makes a quick glance over her general outlook, she must have some form of method that can compensate for areas that seem..lacking. The apparent absence of armor on her, for example, hinted that she might be all about speed. Quicker, faster...Damn. Looks like she'll be difficult to corner, much less catch with his blades. But if she's lacking those gears for defense, it also hinted at what range she might play under.
Close range combat is out of the question...which puts her more in the range of...mm..
He paused to avert his gaze towards the new addition on her left hand.
A long piece of light pink cloth attached to a stick. An odd choice for a potential weapon... However, fitted with her looks, the swordsman had a hunch that the cloth is anything but harmless. While he can't really guess how long that cloth is exactly..but! Using a long cloth already gave enough info the swordsman needed to guess her range.
Tsk. Medium to Long range combat against an agile figure. This will be a difficult fight indeed.
"I don't know if you can classify me as one of the good fighters, fair maiden.."
The swordsman would then raise his blades, pushing both his arms close in front of his view. Taking a short left step back, he would shift to a slight right side stance, both blades pointing forward towards the cheerful girl. The right hand would be held somewhat higher than his left, raised to chest level, while the left is held at waist level.
"..But I'm pretty sure you won't be displeased anytime soon."
The swordsman would then bend his arms a bit, raising the tips of both his blades to point above the girl's head, before his soft expression vanished, a drop in temperature starting to fall around the swordsman's presence.
"So! Shall we dance?"

-Arena 36- Jeyme flashed her dazzling smile again. At least this one had some sophistication about him. He wasn't rude and crude like some of the meanies she usually found. Maybe they could be friends! She wanted to clap at that, but her hands were occupied. Plus, he was pointing those swords at her. "Dance we shall."Seeing as neither one had moved since she'd come to a stop, they were still roughly ten feet apart. A little close, for her liking, especially since he could reach her with those pointy swords if he was quick enough. That wouldn't be likely though. Her hand flicked, pointing the wooden stick towards him, and like a little puppy, the ribbon followed the direction, spinning out from it's spiral to dance around his right arm. It didn't aim to wrap around his arm, or to grab or pull anything, no. The instant it neared his arm, she snapped her wrist back, causing the pink silk to start to return to her. This also caused the end of it to extend before it snapped back, twisting in just such a way that the side sliced against the clothing on his arm. Yes, sliced. For, if he wasn't quick enough, the glittering and flashing's purpose would be revealed. As the ribbon crossed Snow's arm, a slice would appear in the fabric, a short, quick cut that was mainly just testing his defenses. It wouldn't do to try to really hit him in spots that wouldn't be able to be cut, after all. The whole "attack" was very quick, the motions similar to someone using a whip. The weapons were alike, after all, although hers was much lighter and maneuverable. In those couple seconds, her other hand was doing something as well. Her thumb had pressed against the crook of her pointer finger, much as if she were holding something between them. If he hadn't been occupied with the darting ribbon, he might have been able to notice that those fingers seemed to be...wet? Something on them glistened in the artificial light, and it seemed to be dripping. No, not dripping, but dropping. The line was thin, maybe a centimeter wide, and extending somewhat fast, reaching the ground and coiling. Not that she knew about him, but Snow, being the master water user he was, would likely easily identify the glistening line as water, nothing more, nothing less. Although the fact that it was holding it's shape like that was unnatural.

A firm contact reverbrated out from where the swordsman slashed, his hand coping with the contact. Feeling that it was more firm and resiliant than a normal flesh, it told the swordsman that he struck something hard - probably armor or some sort underneath that long black coat of his. The swordsman pulled the swing back, tightening the arc on his left blade so that it would be pulled backwards towards himself, with the tip oriented towards the foe's central torso in a potential thrust in a next strike. As he would be close already against the opponent, the swordsman wouldn't have the time to notice the chain trying to wrap around his blade - having pulled it back already without hesitation for defense, and causing the chain to miss its mark.
His right blade would quickly come into play next in a follow-up, lashing down in a quick slash towards the foe's left clavicle, the area connecting the foe's left shoulder to the neck. Anchoring a bit of his weight onto the right foot, another orb materialized near his presence as the fight escalated to a full close-encounter; the foe with his mystical abilities, and the swordsman using his blades at full capacity.

Shear luck had given the swordsman a second chance but how long would the luck hold? Even as the chain missed its mark Athous didn't seem to flinch at all. He was enjoying his book. As the strike came in to his left shoulder his left arm would quickly raise in response. Forearm connected with blade where the sound of metal striking metal would ring in both of their ears. For a second time chains came to life from beneath the clothing of Athous aiming to lash grip the blade that had struck against his arm. Unlike last time, Snow wouldn't have the chance to quickly pull away like the last time. Simultaneously, the chain that had aimed to attach itself to Snows left blade did not halt its extension but merely found a new target.
The body of his opponent.
Quickly it flew though the air like a snake slithering under the cover of lush grass and it would attempt to wrap around the waist of Snow. If it were to secure itself without problems Snow would find himself in a mass of trouble. How would he fair?

There were a few methods the swordsman had thought already to deal with the girl's long fabric. One idea was to use one of his blades to tangle up the fabric, and then pin it to the ground using the weapon - rendering that particular cloth ineffective for a short period. It'll allow the swordsman to close the distance with his other blade, pressuring her into a potential corner when he closed in for the kill. It's theoretically sound, but he knew better than to sacrifice one of his weapons just to dismantle one of her own weapon. Since he has yet to realize what her ability consists of, losing a weapon would go against his better judgment, especially in the long run. Though, if he was to use his own abilities instead in conjunction with the blades... .. Yes, it might work. It'll be risky though, the swordsman having yet test its effects against an actual foe in combat... But this would be a great time to see how effective it might be if he tried it against someone with a weapon. Especially someone who has long-range capability.
The swordsman took in a deep breath, readying himself to try out the idea. He focused his attention towards her wrists, using that as a prediction cue to roughly guess what she might throw at him in the fight. While he won't be able to forecast what kind of attacks she'll throw out at him - even worse when she starts adding multiple attacks together - he'll at least have a light heads-up when an attack is coming. And now, noticing a flick of her wrist, the swordsman braced himself.
It's coming.
The ribbon-like fabric twirled itself towards his right arm. Seemingly harmless, seemingly graceful, the swordsman refused to believe that the ribbon is nothing more than simple cloth for entertainment only. In a quick flick with his own wrist, the swordsman caused his right blade to bat at the fabric, forcing the weapon to come in contact with the seemingly loose cloth.
All he would need is a form of direct contact with it.
In one instant, a short burst of water would accelerate out of the right blade, latching itself onto the fabric when it came into contact. Detaching itself off of the blade afterwards when she pulled her whip back, the water would drop to the ground with its extra weight quickly, hitting the floor once --
-- before freezing almost immediately on the spot to freeze the fabric directly onto the floor, trapping it. He won't be unharmed in the process unfortunately, the razor-sharp edge of the ribbon slicing into the swordsman's right arm when it was pulled back, cutting the cloth there, and... Scraping against the armored bracers he wore underneath the sleeves. Thank god for armor.
If he was successful in pinning her ribbon down effectively, the swordsman would take that opportunity to quickly shuffle his steps forward, maintaining his current right sided stance towards her as he closed in to put pressure on the girl. His right blade would be held pointing back towards her general mass, the tip aimed for her face this time; the left still held in its original pose. He isn't sure on what to expect when he gets close but... Bah, to hell with it.
In the meantime, an orb materialized in the air, revolving lazily around the swordsman's presence in an idle state.

-Arena 36- "Oh?" Jeyme's confused voice drifted through the air as a burst of water shot towards her ribbon, then froze, seemingly of its own accord. She seemed to focus more on the ribbon than on his quick movements forward, but even as she stared at the weapon, her right hand flicked, the ever growing whip of water lashing out much like her ribbon had. This time, she aimed to catch one of his blades in the attack, the water looping around his right sword, the one aiming at her. The instant it touched the weapon, the tip of her water would freeze, tying itself to the metal, and she'd take a couple quick steps back, jerking her whip along with her, hoping to disarm him. If he didn't let go, her water would only stretch, causing no strain on her arm. Her left hand, meanwhile, had been pulling the same trick as her right, just much more subtly through the ribbon. As her water line finally reached the tip, she fused it to the ice that held it down, and with a snap of her wrist, the ice would shatter, freeing the ribbon with apparently no damage to it. The pink silk would return to its casual spiraling at her left. "It seems, Monsieur Snow, that we are kindred spirits! Water and ice, indeed!" She finally focused on his face again, and her pale skin, quick movements, and water whip would most certainly mark her as anything but a normal human. Whether her disarming move was successful or not, Jeyme would continue moving backwards, her skipping steps looking somewhat odd. Almost as if they were "literally" skipping, the eye not fully able to follow the entire movement. The same with her wrists, whenever she flicked her weapons, it was as if they jumped, rather than moved fluidly, although all her movements held a natural grace. [water whip: active: left hand: 20ft (through ribbon) right hand: 15 ft ]

The swordsman didn't like it. Didn't like the sound of metal striking metal. Especially the feeling of his blade striking resistance, telling him of his failed measures to maim the foe. But since the foe raised his forearm to block a blow to the clavicle...would the swordsman be correct in assuming that the upper part of the foe's body isn't armored?
The rattling chains that bursted out of the opponent's clothings told otherwise. The swordsman frowned, finding himself in a troubled spot with chain-like tentacles bursting out of the foe's clothings. But, as he had expected some form of hidden weapon or ability being used when he closed the distance...
Well. It is now or never. One of the orbs revolving around the swordsman shot straight towards the foe's book, planting itself right above the pages as he pushed away with his right foot from the foe for a tactical withdrawal. A burst of highly condensed water would quickly detonate out from the orb like a bomb, aiming to splash water all over the foe's face and upper body. While the splash would get the foe's upper body and the book wet, the implications were far more deeper under the swordsman's manipulation of water. Because right as the orb detonated, water would then freeze a split second later, latching onto the surface of the body in chunks of ice and restraining the foe's upper body with its immobilizing grip.
It also meant that if the foe got hit in the face with it, the water would freeze - and completely block - the air passageway of the opponent's nose and mouth, while blinding the foe on the spot with its freezing surface. Fortunately, it won't be lethal, since it's a method to immobilize and suffocate the foe to submission... But if the foe isn't able to breathe for a certain period of time, who knows?
The swordsman would take that time to increase the distance between the two quickly if possible. Finding that his right blade was securely latched on by the chains however... There is no choice; the swordsman released his grip on the right blade for the sake of a tactical retreat, using his left blade as a deterrent against a potential rush, should the immobilizing freeze fail to subdue - and suffocate the foe in the process.
