As the Genin ceremony was starting, Yuki had headed home to catch up on some of her paperwork. It was Genin today and Chunin tomorrow. She thought she would get a head start on the certificates for those that came back. As she walked in quietly to the house, she heard the voice of one of her biggest disappointments. With her emerald eyes glaring at the young man coming down the stairs. It was night and Yuki guessed that Koyuki's afternoon nap had lasted longer than usual. Following him into the living room with one hand on her hip, she cleared her throat. "Finally up from you nap?" the stout yet impressionable woman said with her stern motherly voice. "Let your sister rest and help me with some candies," Yuki demanded as she pulled a blanket off the back of the couch and draped it over Akiko while she slept. She hoped their voices wouldn't wake the girl since she had worked so hard today, but sometimes anyone could be a light sleeper. "Kitchen," Yuki said, pointing to the room as she headed in there, picking up the bundle of honey suckles Akiko and Kolo had gathered earlier for her. "We have to make some candy for the graduates. Now, this is a special type of candy that replenishes a little bit of energy and chakra, so pay attention!" Yuki said, raising her eyebrow. She would much rather have Akiko help her, but the poor girl could only be pushed so far!

"Let's start by plucking the petals and mashing them together. Add a little sugar water while trying to get them into a paste base
," Yuki instructed to Koyuki as she set out bowls along with a mortar and pestle.

Koyuki jumped when he heard the voice of his, obviously, irritated aunt from behind him. He turn slowly as she began to command him around, as usual. As the only male of the family, it was only expect, at this point, that this would be likely. Plus, he was such a disappointment with most ninjutsu, it only seemed natural that he would be looked down on.

He followed his Aunt's instructions and silently went into the kitchen. He listened intently as she explained exactly how to make the candies, and even sowed him. Nodding, he responded, quietly yet nervously," Okay. I think I can do this...!"

"Can you?" Yuki asked raising a skeptical eyebrow at her nephew as she handed him the pestle and mortar. "Mash those up now, honey," the woman said, using a little bit of endearment with Koyuki, otherwise the poor boy would think that she hated him, which wasn't true. Yuki was a bit disappointed in him more frequently than any other of the children in the clan, but not everyone got the good genes. It seemed Koyuki had gotten his from his father... "Turn your wrist when smashing the petals against the side of the bowl. It will tear the petals quicker," Yuki explained to the boy as she retied her silvery green hair up in a bun.

Nodding, he attempted to follow her instructions again and see how he did this time. It didn't seem too hard, but it wasn't easy, either. He wasn't very good at this sort of thing, himself, but he'd at least give it a try. After all, it might become useful to him later on. This attempt, he hoped, would end up better... " Alright... Let's try this again... So, I put the stuff into the mortar and grind it up really well, then...."

[Gotta have at least two full lines of RP for a post to count as a training post. GIVE YOUR POSTS MORE LIFE! And you can post as much as you want to. XD You don't have to wait for me, I'll give you all the instructions now, cause I work all weekend!]

Yuki sighed at the job that Koyuki did. It was satisfactory, but it wasn't the best. "Good job," she said with a whole heart. It was a good job for the under achiever. "We're going to mix in the crushed nectar petals with sugar and cream in the pan until it starts to boil and get thick. Make sure you fold it over and over again until its like caramel," Yuki instructed him as she set out the wax pieces of paper. "Once you get it like that we can start dishing it up into these wrappers," Yuki instructed as she laid the wrappers out on the counter. Wax paper was the only thing that didn't make the candies stick and tear. Paper in candy was never very good. Tenmoki had to admit that she was impressed that Koyuki was doing so well listening to her instructions. She waited for Koyuki to move his ingredients to the pan before she took the mortar and pestle to begin making a second batch. "Koyuki, why don't you give the Academy a try?" the woman asked, as she ground the petals against the sides of the bowl like an expert.

Hearing his Aunt complement the job he had done, he smiled and felt a little bit better about this task. As the family's primary "under achiever", he often got little to no complements, though that was mainly because he rarely did anything. He listened carfully to the rest of her instructions, nodding again and giving a short," Okay...!" She then brought up the Academy, which was surprising to him, as, while he was the one who suggested it in the first place for his sister, he hadn't yet gone himself. " A-are you sure....!?", He replied, wide eyed and voice full of doubt. " I don't know if I'll be any good, though... And Akiko's already going there.... Why would even need to go...?"

Throwing her hand on her large hip as she pushed it out to give her nephew a glare, the look was enough to silently say that she was sure. "Am I sure?" the woman questioned the boy back. No one had ever questioned Yuki's decisions since she moved to Shimagakure. What she said and what she suggested was law! "Ah! Ba! Ba!" Yuki said holding up her hand to silence and interrupt Koyuki as the boy started giving excuses. "You obviously have talent underneath that lazy shell of yours and you cared enough about Akiko to encourage her to go, now I'm telling you to go," the woman said with a stern voice, but also had a smile on her face. Excuses. That's why Koyuki never did anything since he moved to Shimagakure. There was always an excuse not to do something. "Who's going to look after Akiko when she becomes a genin?" Yuki asked the boy as she waited for him to stir the ingredients together for the candy. "If you're not sure, why don't I send you and Akiko to visit your cousin, Aya? You might be encourage or, heaven forbid, motivated to join the academy," Yuki suggested, knowing that she could send the two to visit her daughter tomorrow morning.

Surprisingly, rather than discourage or intimidate him, Koyuki actually felt a bit more motivated by this. He had always wanted to go to the academy, but had never felt like he would be good enough, especially after what he had seen his sister do. " Um... Visiting Aya? Well... Maybe. I guess...", He replied, looking down at the task he was preforming. He still wasn't completely certain that joining would be the best idea for him, but if the others had faith in him, than the least he could do is try. The very worst that could happen is that he get expelled, an then he'd just return to his life before hand. Still, he'd at least like to see if Aya had any confidence in his abilities, or if his sister did, for that matter.

Koyuki felt like he had gotten the hang of making these candies, and was quite confident in the last batch that he had made. It wasn't as good as what his Aunt had made, but it wasn't a total failure. " I did it, Aunt Yuki! I think I have the hang of this now!", He said, proudly, after he had finished the last batch. Seeing as he was done, he would have considered going to sleep again, were it not for the facts that he wasn't tired and he had just woken up. He guessed he would just have to go wait in his room or do something else to pass the time. " So... Is there anything else, Aunt Yuki? Or is that all?"

Regardless of whether Shisei wanted to or not, it would be inevitable. He would have to collide with that woman some time, if for no other reason than to get his title and progress into other jutsu. His legs ran fast, now with the large tessen placed back on his back. On the way to the household, the Hyuuga temptress had found him, giving back his giant fan, but holding on to the chessboard. She knew that the Orochi youth would have strayed on this path and only needed to wait ten minutes before leaving on her merry way. The dread hair hated that sometimes the kunoichi could predict some of his movements. But that wasn’t the biggest problem. Shisei kept his mind on target. His thoughts were only on the major problem. Tenmoki Yuki. Yes. The only name he remembered during his time away and yet at the same time the person he saw the least. In a way the woman was the biggest disappointment to the snake student during his stay even though he knew nothing about her. He hastily compared this woman to mother in the beginning, but she was not even half the person that his birth giver was. It wasn’t even that Shisei was wrong. It was because in a way he had sullied his mother’s great image by comparing the two and that annoyed him the most. The boy ran quicker than normal with his anger slowly building until he got to a tree. He stopped and gazed off to the distance to see the house. The lights were on which meant someone was home. The rapid beating of his heart continued as the sweat dripped from his face and air puffed out of his mouth. The only thing that was calm and solid as ice were that anger that was building before. Once again Shisei was in control.

One arm pushed against the tree to keep his form up. His frame positioned so that it was slightly hidden. The boy didn’t want to be seen, but at the same time he didn’t want to hide as if afraid of the medical shinobi. The quick beat of his heart was starting to return to a normal place as the youth began to wonder who would be in that house. Shisei did not feel like dealing with the woman’s daughter, nor anyone else there. Yet it would be unavoidable. The best way would be to make his business quick. The only problem would be if Yuki went back into one of her depressions over the loss of her family, her leader or whatever that weak heart decided to bleed over next. Then his only other option would be the kage. Yet that person was most likely away at the Chuunin Exams with the other genin turning chuunin. A vexing situation then if he could not find someone that would be able to teach him. “Why is everyone so useless…” the child thought. Was there anyone else to go to? That weird man who the funny spell and instrument on his back? Maybe one of the nurses? Or the blacksmith? Well not him. Just in case the man still held a grudge over his item. Who else was there? The contemplated and let out a sigh as the only other cases would be his peers, specifically the ones who were allowed to participate in the ceremony. Something else that also was not happening. In the end being around them was a reason that the cold child knew no jutsu. The boy closed his eyes as he tried to decide between the lesser of two evils.

Shisei turned and now allowed his back to press against the cold bark. He took one leaf from a low branch and balanced it on his pinky while staring at it. Anyone who knew Shisei, knew that he was not one to loiter. It probably was evident to anyone, especially to the boy himself, that he was just wasting time and trying to contemplate a reason not to go. His jacket zipped all the way up only allowed for gold suns to be seen that lazily gazed at the leaf. His head was beginning to form the impeding conversation in his head if things headed for the worst. The dread hair was calculating all the possible scenarios that could happen. With each one he was creating an answer to. Idealistically little snake did not need it to go further than five minutes unless the woman was going to teach him. Which at this time of the night may have been pointless. Still he may was well pursue. The boy had come this far and the lights were still on. How long would the shinobi in training beat around the bush? A few more minutes. He kept the leaf balanced holding it up to his face on the tip of his pinky finger. Why was the woman up this late anyways? Were there some after festivities at her house with newly crowned genin? Even more of an undesirable reason to go then. The last of the Orochi was about to turn around and think of a new course of action for tomorrow. Kami forbid if those trash were there…. nothing would get accomplished. The cycle would just continue. It was hard to think of some type of action to use against the woman with so many variables. Even if his mind had seen most of all the possible scenarios it did not mean any of them was a guarantee which is what Shisei wanted. Too much time had passed since he left so he was unsure of what the outcome would be. The small frame did not move, but only stared at the leaf as the wind lightly blew.

For a second the wind grew stronger and the little leaf upon the boy’s pinky finger blew away. It danced off to side before returning just above the preteen’s head and then disappearing into a shrub. The amber eyes of the ghost skinned boy traced the entire motion of the leaf and stared into the bush for more than two minutes. The thoughts of his mind lay somewhere away from the rest of the world. Whatever decision was met in his skull, led Shisei to turn towards the Tenmoki Household. His skeleton picked up the same jog as before, because the house was still a ways off. As the serpent youth ran his mind began to some reason wonder what the woman’s childhood was like. Judging by her appearance and demeanor she had to have come from some type of noble family or even perhaps royal lineage. The woman was also into medical fields so perhaps she came from kin that were doctors. Now that the serpent youth thought about it, the name of Tenmoki was not unusual to his ears. He had heard the name somewhere else also. Where though? It sometime during his stay on the mainland. Someone important. Either way the boy shrugged off the feeling for now. It was a curious situation though. Why would a woman born to nobles become a shinobi. Especially one with such a fragile heart. “Something mother never had…” the boy thought. His mother did not have that flaw… but then why would she have left the comfortable Orochi village to be with that outsider. The thought made the Orochi slightly squint as the breeze ran passed his face. Yet the one difference was the boy could not remember his mother’s childhood. More like she never spoke about it at all. Nothing could be deduced other than the fact little snake’s parent was born in the Orochi tribe and perhaps to a noble family also? It would be something to ask whenever he saw her again. Once the child retreated from his thoughts he found himself a few feet from the door. Both legs slowing down until coming to a halt in front of the door step, the Orochi panted outside for a few seconds. He opened his jacket to pull out a small handkerchief to wipe away the sweat on his face. The youth put the paper back inside the jacket and zipped up the article of clothing to the top so his mouth was once again hidden. One hand then stroked back his hair adjusting and making sure no stray twigs or bush was lodged inside. The other hand adjusted his giant tessen to be held firmly on his back. Finally Shisei waited for his breathing and heart rate to return to normal before making any actions. The adjustment to his features was not out of trying to impress the Tenmoki scientist, but out of his own declaration to not look like some scraggly trash. Perhaps like the other students. Then one palm came out and turned into a fist to allow the knuckles to rap against the door. Shisei made three knocks wondering who would open the door.

Yuki smiled and nodded as Koyuki half-heartidly accepted the suggestion. "Why don't you go wake up your sister and see if she can catch you up on today's lessons?" Yuki suggested as she would stay in the kitchen and clean up. While finishing off the last batches and washing up her hands, she heard someone knock on the door. Who would be knocking this late at night? Yuki thought that something may be wrong, so she made a rush to get to the door before Akiko or Koyuki. As she opened it, the woman had to say she was a bit surprised to see the pale skinned Orochi standing there. "Shisei," the woman said, not even having heard that he was back on the island. When she had failed him at the genin exam, she thought he had taken it as a personal vendetta, so for him to be back was a shock to her. The woman tried to brush the past aside and moved to let him in. "What are you doing coming back so late at night? And why are you knocking? You know you still have a bed here," the woman said, starting off as if Shisei hadn't left and that he was still welcome in her home. Yuki hadn't given Shisei hardly any attention since he came to Shimagakure. He had came at the worst time imaginable; the Orochi War. The year in which Yuki lost her husband... "Are you hungry at all, Shisei? Koyuki and I have made some candies, if you'd like some?" the woman offered as she headed towards the kitchen, where she was sure the boy would like to talk. Arriving this late at mind meant he had something on his mind.

Rewards: +1 Alchemy, +8 Experience

[After every exercise you'll be rewarded points that you need to report in the experience report thread. Read the first post and its pretty much explains what you need to do there. Then you add your points to your profile. Keep you training points separate from your clan and base points. So, when you add Alchemy to your profile it will look like this:
Alchemy: 0 + 1
Then the next time you train your Alchemy it will look like this:

“Koyuki?” the boy said allowed to himself. His eyes roamed around the interior of the house till he found the possible target. A boy smaller than him with a pale cerulean hair and navy blue eyes. They stood out heavily against dark skin and gray pants. The youth also had a jacket with a top part similar to Shisei’s that hid his mouth. Just like the people on the shore it appeared he had a strong affliction for blue too. The serpent youth then turned his partially veiled face away from the boy and back to the older woman. He listened to her to her questions, trying to remain serene and open to her speech although not everything he could believe. He still had a bed? The woman probably meant Seshiro’s now defunct living quarters, but even Shisei realized he may be too cynical in that course of thinking. Instead of stating that idea the Orochi chose to answer each of her questions. “No. I’m not really hungry..” which was a lie. He’d been in strenuous activity with the Hyuuga teen and then ran across at least a fourth of the village. Still this woman was guilty upon his nature and like nearly everyone else was an obstacle. The last thing Shisei wanted was to be in any depth of her favor. He only hoped that he was not in much depth already for coming here this late. His form followed the woman into the kitchen so that he could continue to answer each question. “I came back with Hyuuga Kanami. You’ll probably see her sooner or later. Forgive my late night intrusion. I’ll make it quick so you can return to your family…” The snake stated making a distinction between him and her relatives. “The academy jutsu… I need to learn them to advance. I want to learn all of them. I also want to learn the Body Flicker Technique. Can you teach me? If not do you have any notes so that I can teach myself? I think this is the least you can do…” the youth stated trying to throw the past back into her face. Even if Yuki had wanted to bury the past and let it rest it was still an open grave to Shisei. The dread hair was not about to let it become buried just because of a meeting after two years. In his mind he was ready to be a genin two years ago and partially due to her behavior, whether it be a sad heart or an unconscious dislike for the Orochi, he was now two years behind and thus a failure.
