As he soared across the forest floor, Batsu spared a glance upwards. Through a few breaks in the dense canopy, Batsu could see that it was getting dark out. Zero would be getting home soon and Batsu loved being there to greet him. This fact meant that Batsu had to finish up quickly. The thief must be caught posthaste. Batsu widened his wingspan by a bit. It was a risky tactic in such a densely forested place but it would make it easier to catch up to his enemy. Batsu could still see the thieving fowl in his line of sight but the darkness as well as the birds quickness made him difficult to keep track of. Batsu lost him a number of times as they swerved in and out of the trees. Despite losing sight of him, Batsu could tell that he was gaining on his target.

Karite followed Orika wondering what time it was. The canopy of the trees was blocking must of the light from coming through and it was dark as dusk anyway when they first came into the forest. Walking following behind the injured girl his breathing was speeding up quicker then normal. He would have to rest for the rest of the day to let his injures fully recover or he would be in some trouble for whatever Maya may put him through. "Orika, you have to explain this a little slower for me I am not one to get things the first time." Karite sat down and waited for Orika to explain her overall plan one more time maybe he would get it better this time.

Kore waited as Orika and Karite left. He would need to move faster, he could sense the time period shifting and the night would bring the hunters like himself. Sensing the wind change he picked up the particular smell of a rabbit. Running to the east his body turning into a bullet he speed along through the forest floor looking for his target following the smell he soon came to a opening where the trees did not grow and the snow fell heavier. There in the center lit up as if a sign from a higher being sat a plump rabbit. the fattest one the cub had ever seen and instantly his mouth watered. Stepping in slightly Kore made sure he was quite. He would come in close enough to see the rabbit and as soon as he came in he pounced through the air he landed on the rabbit taking it under the snow. Swing violently waiting for the snap the cub violently slung snow in all directions. Finally feeling the rabbit was dead the cub rose from the snow and walked back to the trap with his second kill.

The sun was quickly setting making the winter air even chillier. It was beginning to affect the serpent shinobi in training. Both stakes missed the target this time. He had three rabbits, but still wanted to double his amount. The child needed to do it quickly too. Who knows what predators might be lurking once the sun disappeared and darkness engulfed the sky. As the serpent youth thought of this his mind reminded him of the giant boa he saw within a tree earlier on. His frame was no where close to that area, but still if it was a nocturnal hunter then its active time would soon be approaching. Shisei had hoped that his peers had finished a device that would allow them to carry all the carcasses out of the forest. As emotionless as the child was, the forest was beginning to give him the creeps.

Kore threw the rabbit next to the other and instantly heard the sound of another. This one however had come closer then the others drawn by the smell of blood. Looking Kore wasted no time and pounced before the rabbit could even move. The rabbit began to move but Kore quickly reeled it in with his claws and quickly sunk his teeth into the neck and began to shake the rabbit all around. The lion was began to enjoy himself again.

Orika turned away from the boy and rolled her russet eyes. He was cute, but a little dense at times. She took a moment to stare blinkingly at the setting sun through two gigantic trees, just in time to catch the flaming orb as it reached the halfway point down. Orika turned to her side so that her bright, reddish eyes reflected the full splendor of the glowering setting sun. She smiled and giggled and motioned for Karite to sit down so she could draw a map before it got too dark. Slowly, she traced out Shimagakure, then made an X where their island was and a T where the Tategami grounds were. "First, we dump the logs in a nice, straight row in the river. Someone will have to get in the water to make sure the logs don't float away. Then we'll tie them up with vines," Orika began, making sure Karite understood every word she was saying, "After that, we'll load the meat on and then ride along this path. See it? We'll go down the river and then along the shoreline. We don't want anyone to see us with all this meat or they'll suspect that we've had weapons. I think we'll get to the Tategami Grounds by the time the sun dips fully below the horizon, so we'll have time before bed if you want to do anything else. Got all that?" She met his eyes and smiled cheerfully. It was fun being the one with the plan, the kid who knew everything for the moment.

Karite listened carefully to the full plan in the most melodic tone of voice he had heard in a long time. It was something else but when he slowed down to listen the world just seemed so much more peaceful. everything he was so stressed about didn't seem important right now. This is how he wanted the rest of his life to be peaceful with a little hard work here and there and a whole lot of fun in between. As Orika finished up her plan he smiled signaling he got the jest of the plan. "So I will get the logs and we will wait for Shisei to get in the water. The two of us with open wounds probably shouldn't get into the water. We could get infections." Karite stood and headed off to get the logs rolling since the river was on a hill not surrounded by to many trees he should be able to give a good push into the river. Walking up the hill Karite came to the furthest log he could find. Digging himself in he began to push lining it up with the next log and down the line till he had six lined up. But the boy was wheezing heavily. The wound was taking out of his usual energy. The grounds kept looking better and better.

Kore was not feeling up to hunting anymore he had been out all day and with the injury he was pushing himself to hard. Going back to Maya without what she asked would be a death sentence in itself and that was something he would rather safe for down the line when he really messed up. Running into the woods following the scent of the now recent memory of rabbits he moved quick his speed and surprise being his only weapon. He would move and strike with speed. Time was the name of this game and the odds were stacked against the cubs and the humans he was running with. Jumping over a fallen log Kore bounded right into the sight of a rather plump rabbit. Picking up speed not wanting to waste anytime Kore couldn't find the neck with the way he was running and ended up colliding with the prey and sending them both toppling head over heels. As the roll slowed the cub continued to push his body as fast as it would go. Digging in his small hind legs the cub was straight up he slammed down on the rabbits sternum causing the chest cavity to cave in instantly killing the white fluff ball. Kore knew it was dead and so no reason to massacre the body any more then it was. Picking it up it ran as fast it could back to the trap to drop it off and find its next prey.

“Where is that rabbit.” The serpent youth contemplated to himself. His feet began to lead and his head decided to go on autopilot, paying as much attention as before. The boy’s brain was hoping that the tanned duo would have finished some device by now. Once Shisei returned, he wanted to leave and be on his way back to the grounds of Tategami. From there he could conduct his training in peace. Hopefully the other three would entertain themselves. Unless Maya was going to teach the trio how to use jutsu. Then Shisei would be an active participant. His form pushed through one frozen leaf after the next and still he couldn’t figure out where anymore of the hopping animals disappeared to. It was starting to become annoying.

Fortunately passing through some of the frozen brush scared out the prey that Shisei was looking for. The rabbit was swift but the snake child’s fingers were slightly swifter. Both tools caught the back legs of the creature bringing it down. It didn’t take long for the silent snake to overcome his prey. With that last one, Shisei’s hands were becoming full with dead animals. He held three by the ears in one hand and the fourth was now in his other palm with his two weapons. It was going to start getting cumbersome holding all these animals. His mind then began to consider all of the animals the trio killed today. That was a lot of meat. Shisei could barely wait to see the look of approval on the amazoness’s face when they brought back all this fat. She’d definitely be impressed. If her mind wonders just how they did it the serpent youth had the two wooden stakes. It was a perfect alibi. The best type of situations the snake child loved was the ones that were win-win. He got his weapons; they would have gotten all the animals under the wild woman’s quota. There would be food tonight and hopefully he could his own tent so his frame could practice jutsu and train in peace. The snake was beginning to have an even greater desire to return.

This desire was also amplified by the fact it was coming closer to night and he didn’t want to look like an oversize hare for some nocturnal animal of much more massive size. Orika and Karite better have some device finished by the time he came back. Shisei wasn’t feeling like waiting on anyone. Especially with the temperature slowly declining. He’d probably need to remind the two to hide their weapons also so that Maya’s suspicion did not rise. Although if the two returned with their weapons that would take most of the suspicion off of him. The heads of some of the animals were bashed in after all. The Tategami huntress would know for sure with their skulls broken in. If they do decide to hide it though perhaps he, needed to retrieve a piece of a log or some similar object to make the illusion that they improvised weapons from the forest. The other problem would be to keep Orika’s mouth shut from saying anything. That may take some time to contemplate.

The sounds of wildlife permeated Batsu's thoughts as he opened his senses to everything around him. He had almost forgotten which forest he was in. It was probably not advisable to be in the forest of sorrows this late at night. It was well known that various beasts and horrors crept around the forest, especially when it got dark. He tilted his wings up a bit, gaining some height. Any more distance from the beasts of the forest floor made him feel much more secure. It was rather difficult to keep his eyes on the flitty bird he was chasing and keep his eyes on scanning the forest floor at the same time. This wasn't even including the difficulty of flying at high speeds through the Forest of Sorrows. The bark on the trees he was weaving around looked as if mere contact with them would cut the skin. He didn't even want to think of what flying into one at full speed would do to him.

[Guys, we only need 6 rabbits. Why don't you combine your successes so we don't end up with 12?]
Orika giggled to herself when she saw Karite's face light up with some sort of understanding. She didn't think he realized just how extensive the plan was, but at least he wouldn't be left in the dark. Actually, if they waited much longer, all four of them would be stranded in the middle of a dark, scary forest full of unknown creatures made mutants by excessive chakra radiation! There would be snakes with 2 heads and cats that could shoot fireballs from its mouth or maybe even wild, hyperactive yellow-furred foxes! Woah, she'd been reading waaay too many comic books. Regardless, Orika looked around the damp jungle in fear for just a microsecond, then regained her composure. She was Tokiha Orika, damn it, the girl who didn't even fear that stinky, blood-covered black-haired scarred guy that appeared in the weapons shop one day and sent everyone else running. Orika puffed out her chest and put a stern look in her eyes, then took off hopping after Karite. By the way, she couldn't wait to get her legs back in working condition. One more day ought to do it! Ooh, that felt like so long, still. Orika internally moaned about her broken leg as she set to pulling together their kills near the river, stacking the carcasses on top of each other. It was tough work, with every animal weighing at least 50 kilos, but her muscles didn't fail her when she killed that deer and they didn't fail her now. When she was done, Orika flashed the thumbs up sign to Karite and put her palm over her eyes in the shape of a visor as she searched the dense jungle for any sign of Kore or Shisei.

Karite was a little shocked at how hard all this work was becoming in this short amount of time he had stopped hunting he had gone from a very lost outlook on life to his normal cheery self all because of his wonderful friend and possibly something more Orika. The it hit him, what were they? Were they still considered friends or were they more then that. it was odd to think. As smooth as his words were and as charming his smile was it was hard to believe that he had never experienced a kiss until that moment. "Orika, are we still just friends or is our relationship more complex then that now? I don't know what got me thinking about but I figured I would ask you. I have never been in this situation before and right now you seem to be having a lot of the answers." Karite looked at her with his glazed over silver eyes and it seemed that instead of the usual appearance of peering into nothing you could actually see a solid reflection.

Shisei glared into the chilly forest, upset at the foliage. He had lost his prey. The little hare he was chasing disappeared. Its trail became cold. The snake youth stopped in his tracks when he came to a crossroad unsure of which path to go. Then his ears picked up the howl of a wolf. That changed his plans. He begrudgingly turned around and began to retrace his steps back through the forest. The silly rabbit would live for today. The serpent child had four bloody bodies between his palms that would weigh him down, god forbid a hungry wolf comes into play. As much as he hated quitting something already started he was not going to lose his life in a forest over rabbits. That would be a disgrace. His feet began walking back and he tried to use his common sense to return. At least other things were accomplished today. Despite losing Seshiro’s shuriken, he managed to get back a few more armaments. All in which he planned to practice with at a later time. His fan and smoke bomb remained hidden while the senbon would stay with him. Pale lips let out a small grin. Things were slowly returning to his control.

Nothing was said between the two for at least a good minute as Orika thought about what Karite just proposed. The silence made her shift on her one good leg as the girl hopped hopped ho-opped in a quick-paced rhythm. She'd been wrong to call Karite slow-witted when it had been her who had never even thought about their changing relationship until he brought it up. Truth be told, she knew nothing about relationships, for at her age, most people got relationship advice from friends and she didn't exactly have a lot until she joined the academy. It was weird to think that she'd have something more than just friends when for just about the first time in her life, she had people she could call her buddies, real ones that weren't just for play and games. After a long awkward moment, Orika shook her head and looked at Karite, eyes slightly widened. "Everything's just happening so fast, Karite-kun, so I don't know. I like you... really, a lot, but I don't know what my own feelings are. I don't think I have the answers this time 'cause this is all new to me too." Slowly she raised her hands and took Karite's cracked palms into her own rough ones. The warmth of his skin sent a tingle through the farm girl. Sometimes they were exactly the same and others complete opposites, but it all worked out very well. Orika leaned in and pressed her nose against Karite's, smiling as she nuzzled him. She breathed deeply to get the sweet, slightly sweaty smell of his skin imprinted in her brain. "Show me how much you want to be my boyfriend," she whispered.

Karite was almost instantly stunned by the happenings around him. Orika's gentle hands working their way around his and her sweet smell of the rice farm. It all flooded his senses so quickly he was almost instantly dazed. His eye lashes flickering ever so rapidly he smiled as she said the words he wanted to her. "Show me how much you want to be my boyfriend," that was all the reaper really needed to hear. Letting his eyes slow down and close he moved from her nose to her lips. Standing trying his best not to disconnect from her he wrapped his scared and sweaty arms around her to let her know she would always be safe there with him. In that moment every neuron and every nerve ending in his body seemed to explode like little shocks surfacing on his skin. The tingle sensation he had felt before not was a wave of pin pricks. Karite did not mind though. This feeling was more enjoyable then anything he could have ever imagined in his entire being. This was the moment he had wrote about and spoke in all his fantastic riddles and rhymes. Orika was his purpose for being himself. He wanted this kiss to show her that.
