Sur, Jakath, a game of war and a red flower
Mikiri entered the cave with a smile, a young boy clinging to her skirt and looking around, wondering why they had come to the usually empty cave. He was surprised to find people there, and tugged on his mother's skirt and pointed at the blue haired boy cuddled up with the man on the pallet. "Mama! mama! Boy!" "Yes honey I see..." Mikiri smiled, and giggled looking to see Torvil sleeping with his son, she spied Ala as well. "Hello sister..."

Ala looked up from the book she had been reading in the peaceful cave and smiled "Well hi Mikiri, it's been a while, is he yours?" she asked seeing the young boy clinging to her

Mikiri smiled. "Yeah, he's mine..." She ruffled the boy's brown hair, obviously his father's son. "It's good to see you again, it's been far to long..." she smiled. "I see my brother is asleep... as is your child..."

Ala nodded "Yeah, it's hard to do everything back at the shop and be here a lot too, but we'll be here for a while this time.. We plan to stay till Surion has grown and gone on his first hunt, not sure when his next growth spurt will be though so it might be a while" she said and glanced towards her mate "Yeah Surion needed a nap so Torvil napped with him"

Mikiri grinned. "That's good to hear..." She said with a happy nod. "Jakath will be doing his first hunt soon, maybe they'll be lucky and do it at the same time?" She sounded hopeful, and doubtful at the same time.

"Who knows, only time will tell, I find it hard to predict, but such is life of mixed races. So how many little ones, and not so little ones do you have now?" Ala asked standing up and putting her book on a table

Mikiri bit her lip and lifted up her hands, counting on her fingers... Well trying to. "Uhhhhh...." She giggled and blushed. "I lost count awhile ago..."

Ala laughed "Well I can still count on mine, but I don't really expect to have any more, least not any time in the near future"

Mikiri nodded and giggled. "Well you know how we are..." She waved her hands at Jakath. "Next thing you know he'll be chasing girls instead of running from them..."

Ala burst out laughing "Very possible"

Surion yawned and sat up rubbing his eyes his mother's loud laughter had woken him

Jakath's eyes instantly turned to the other boy child. He tugged on his mother's skirt. "Play?" He asked her. "Yes love you can go play..." Mikiri smiled and patted his rump.

Surion opened his eyes and looked around, he heard another voice he didn't know, or rather two of them he scooted tot he edge of the pallet and stood his tail moving lazily behind him as he looked for the source of the voices

Jakath smiled and started to move towards the other boy quickly. "Hihi!" He called to him waving, a big smile on his face. Torvil started to snore.

Surion stared he wasn't expecting one of the voices to be a boy hurrying towards him "Hihi" he replied "Who you?"

Ala chuckled and looked to Mikiri, "shall we sit and visit?"

Mikiri smiled and moved to sit, finding a spot that would fit her. "Yes, let's..." "I'm Jakath!" He grinned, his brown hair being blown out of his bangs with a quick breath of air. "Who you?"

"Sur" he said pointing to himself his blue hair not quite in his eyes enough to even care about as he took hold of his tail

"Cool! You have tail!" The boy pointed. "I wish I had tail!" He said, wiggling his tailless rear.

Surion looked around the boy walking a few steps to do so "Yeah you no tail" he said playing with the tip of his "Sur had since little" smiling a pointy toothed grin

"Sur Lucky!" Jakath grinned and giggled boyishly. "What you want play?"

"Otay!" Surion said warming up to this boy, least he had someone to play with, every other time he'd been to the cliffs he did not

The boy grinned and tapped his chin. "What play tho?" He asked, at a loss, most cliff games required more than two kids.

Sur's face faulted "Sur dunno..." he said playing now with one of his pointy ears and looking around

The boy tapped his chin and then smiled. "Me know!" he said, reaching out and grabbing Surion's hand. "Ma! Me taking Surion out to play!" "Okay Honey, be safe..." Mikiri looked at Ala for an okay as well.

Ala nodded "You's likely knows this place better then anything anyways... Sur you stay with Jakath"

"Otay mama" Surion said as he was drug towards the door

Jakath smiled. "Fun!" He said, heading out the door and stopping, listening for a moment, and then hearing what he wanted... The happy laughs of children, he started to drag Surion off that way

Surion too heard the noise and turned his head just before his cousin started moving again . He hurried after Jakath "Where going?"

"Play! My sisters and brothers, and other friends!" Jakath smiled. "Fun!" He smiled, pointing at the rather large group of children pretty much just running around at random

Surion blinked and then smiled moving faster with Jakath "More kids!"

Jakath smiled and soon they were swarmed by kids. "Everybody! This Sur! He cool! he have Tail!" There was a loud oooo sweeping among the children as they all clamored to try and see it.

Sur stared at them confused as all heck what the fuss was about it was nothing new to him to have a tail, even his mama and dada had one

Jakath smiled and pulled his cousin close. "Sur my cousin! Sur cool, lets play with Sur! Oh! I know... We can play war! Sur, you're on my team..." The kids were all divided up, and they parted ways across the expanse of space, they all stayed away from the edge of the plateau, well away. Jakath pulled Surion down behind some rocks. "Okay, this game, we fight the other team... Who ever has the most 'forts' wins..." Jakath looked up over the rock, pulling Sur with him, pointing out the 'forts' they were just little rock outcroppings. In the middle of the plateau some kids were putting a big pile of toy weapons. "Otay, when that person yells go, we all scramble and gets a weapon..." He smiled. "I'm sure we'll win with you on our side!"

Most of this went right over Surion's head and he stared looking back and forth between his cousin and the toy weapons

Jakath giggled boyishly and pointed at the weapons then at Surion. "When they say go, we get, then we try to keep these..." He patted the rocks. "Away from them..." He pointed at the other team.

"O..tayyy..." Surion looked towards the other kids

Jakath sighed and heard the go. He pulled Surion up over the rocks as all the kids were shouting and screaming towards the play weapons. Jakath was able to get them a sword and a spear, and he gave the spear to Surion. "Now hit the other kids trying to take our rocks!" Jakath said, doing just that.

Surion watched him holding the spear in his hands he took a couple tentative pokes at the other kids not wanting to seem... out of place

A few kids started to gang up on him, and Jakath tried his best to hold them back. "Sur, fight! No poke... stab!"

Surion cried out as he got hit rather hard in the side with one of the swords and dropped the spear turning to run in the direction Jakath and he had come, in the direction of his mother's scent

Jakath, sighed and waved off a few kids, heading after his cousin, letting the others play.

Surion was still running stopping only for a brief moment now and then to try and find hs way

Jakath caught up with him. "Where are you going?" He asked his cousin.

"Sur want mama" he said crying his light red tears and not stopping

Jakath sighed and took his cousin's hand, leading him back the way they had come to his house, walking into the cave.

Surion sniffled his free hand on his side

Jakath let go of his hand as soon as Ala was in sight.

Mikiri turned around. "Did you have fun?" She asked.

"We barely even started..." Jakath pouted.

Surion saw his mama and ran to her "Mama Sur owie" he whined

Ala quirked a brow putting her arms around him "Ok.. what's owie?" she asked

Jakath looked at Ala. "We was just playing war..." Jakath said. "We was winning too!"

Mikiri rolled her eyes. "Visha..."

Ala looked at Mikiri "What is... war? the kids one that is" she asked her sister in law Surion still had his face buried in her chest

"It's not a game I enjoy my son playing that's for sure..." She looked at her son pointedly. "But that's besides the point. Pretty much it's a kiddy version of a bar brawl with play weapons. They defend little rock croppings out on the plateaus with their play weapons..."

Ala nodded "Well I suppose that could lead to owies" she said looking down at her son and pulling him from her "Show mama the owie Sur"

Surion sniffled and pulled his tunic up to show a nice purpling bruise on his side

Jakath rocked on his heels. "You get owies in war, but you have to ignore the owies and keep playing so you can win..." He pouted.

Mikiri sighed. "Yes Jakath, that's why the game is allowed still, because we know it's important for you to be able to withstand pain..."

Ala winced slightly "Only difference is Surion isn't used to those kinds of games, I doubt he was expecting to have that happen" she tried to explain to the boy

Jakath nodded slowly. "Jakath see... he think... Sur no play games with owies?" He asked softly, tilting his head. "Then how Sur grow be strong?"

Ala sighed putting her hand on her son's side her gem lighting up as she spoke "He will learn, but my guess would be is that he didn't expect to get hurt, Surion is like you but a little younger here" she pointed to her head "He'll catch on, and who knows in time perhaps help your team wallop the other's team"

Jakath smiled. "Oh, me see!" He tapped his head. "He like me on outside but not in head!" He tapped his head again. "Me see! Me see!" He nodded his head. "Think he'll want to play with me anymore tho?" He said looking at his feet, a little worried his coolest friend wouldn't want to play with him no more.

"I think he will, just need to explain things lots ok?" she said and pulled her hand away from her son smiling at his normal skin as her gem went out "You're ok son.. wipe your tears, and go play ok?"

Surion sniffled one last time then wiped his eyes and looked towards Jakath as he pulled his tunic down again

Jakath smiled and moved over to his cousin offering him his hand. "Come on, lets see if our team won yet?" He said softly. "And then maybe we can play a game with not so many owies..."

Sur nodded "Otay" he said taking his cousin's hand again wiping the last of his tears as he followed Jakath

Jakath led him back to the plateau, when they got there most of the kids were laying on the ground, basking in the sun, the swords and spears were gone, probably taken home, it looked like Jakath's and Surion's team had won, cause they held the rocky plateaus where the best sunning spots were.

Sur smiled seeing the game over, he didn't want to play that, least not right then "Look over"

Jakath grinned. "Yeah, lets go claim our spoils!" He giggled and pulled his cousin down to the 'best' spot to sun, waving at his friends there, his siblings were spread out on the other outcroppings and these were mainly Jakath's friends. One of the boys smiled. "Our leader and his right hand have returned!" They grinned and all of them sat up for a moment, to listen as Jakath pretty much lied about the reason Surion ran away, saying it was a tactic to distract the enemy.

Surion sat down on the ground his tail wrapped around his side and into his lap "Who you" he asked when Jakath had stopped talking

"Barkis!" Said the boy. "Jaine!" Chirped one of the girls. "Kaila!" Squeaked another of the girls. "Joshk!" Said another one of the boys.

Surion nodded looking from one to the next with his blue eyes the sun catching his gem as he turned his head sending a blue hue onto the rocks for a moment

"Ooooo Shiney!" All of the kids said at once, clamoring once more to get a look at him. "Sur is sooo cool!" They all agreed.

Sur stared at them wide-eyed being surrounded again "Sur cool?"

"Yeah Sur cool!" They smiled. Jaine and Kaila smiled, and Kaila giggled, handing Surion a small red flower. "For Sur!" She giggled.

Surion took the flower not knowing it's meaning but thinking the color was pretty "Thank" he said turning it between his fingers

Kaila giggled happily and clapped her hands, hugging Surion and smiling. She kissed his cheek and ran off. Jaine giggled and smiled, having done the same to Jakath, who sat there blushing and looking at the flower. The two other boys sat there laughing.

"Sur miss somefin?" he asked seeing the blushing of his cousin and hearing the laughter of the others

Jakath nodded. "They our girlfriends now..." He muttered weakly. "Jakath no want a girlfriend..." He said, standing up. "Lets go home..." He held the flower protectively tho.

"Otay...." he blinked getting up but not holding the flower quite as protectively, this was something he knew not and even that, he didn't know much about girlfriends yet either

"We have to be super nice to them now..." Jakath pouted as they headed for home. "Now we have to go somewhere with them if they want..." He kicked a rock off the edge of the path. "It's no fair..."

"Huh?" Surion stopped scratching his pointy ear completely bewildered "Sur do?"

"Yeah, you do too..." He said looking towards the cave they had come from just a few minutes ago. "It's so not fair..." he pouted.

"Uh.." Surion bit his lip drawing a little blood and wiped it off with a finger and then licked his finger "Sur no get"

Jakath stopped and turned around. "Okay, here's how it goes. They gave us this flower and we accepted it. This flower means they like us, and when we took it, it means we liked them back..." He said looking at the flower for a moment and blushing. "Now we have to do whatever they want us to..."

Surion looked at the flower "Sur not know dat" he mumbled

Jakath nodded. "Well now Sur know..." He said. "We better hurry before they come find and make us play cave..." He made a not happy hissing noise..."

Sur nodded "Jakath go Sur come" he said shoving he stem of the flower into the pocket of his trousers so it stayed but hung out

Jakath held the flower for a moment before putting it in his hair, walking quickly towards the cave.

Surion followed after him thinking the flower looked interesting in his cousin's hair

Jakath entered the cave in a nasty pout, kicking a rock into the cave, it clipped Torvil's horn which caused him to shoot dead upright and swear, loudly, clutching at it.

Ala spun "What?"

Surion blinked "Uh oh..." he said stopping dead in his tracks

Torvil winced and rubbed his horn. "Something hit my horn..." He grimaced. Jakath quickly moved over to his mother, trying to feign innocence.

Ala winced in pity "Ouch that would hurt"

Surion walked towards his father "Dada ok?"

Torvil nodded. "Yeah, Dada fine..." He smiled and then blinked. "Sur, where did you get that flower?"

"Yeah Jakath... were did you get one..." Mikiri grinned.

Jakath looked at his feet. "Jaine and Kalia gave them to us..." He was blushing.

Surion pulled it from his pocket and nodded after his cousin answered for them

Mikiri giggled. "Looks like our boys have gotten themselves some crushes..." She giggled and grinned. Torvil chuckled softly and patted his lap for Surion to come sit on.

Jakath refused to look at his mum./

Surion turned and dropped into his dad's lap

Torvil chuckled and brushed his son's hair. "I don't think we'll have to worry about Surion chasing after them just yet..." He smiled. Mikiri let out a soft sight. "You're the lucky ones... Well I guess we better go have lunch..." Mikiri smiled. "You're welcome to come by for some if you'd like..."

Ala nodded "Thanks Mikiri, I'm sure Sur will want someone to play with at some point"

Surion looked up "You go?"

Mikiri smiled. "Yeah, we're going..." She walked over and bent down, kissing her nephew on the forehead. "You be safe..." She smiled, and walked over, gathering Jakath and waving. "Bye!"

"Bye sis!" Torvil called.

"Bye Sur!" Jakath waved.

Surion waved "Byebye!" he called after them

Torvil smiled and watched them go, then turned to Ala. "So... Now what shall we do?"

Ala smiled "How about supper you two sleep a while and then Surion went out to play so it is starting to get later"

Torvil smiled and nodded his head. "Alright... Shall I cook or do you want to?" He grinned softly. "Though not much cooking is required..." He smirked.

"You can I'll deal with Sur... and that flower" Ala said with a chuckle standing and heading in their direction

Torvil chuckled and stood up, slowly offering Surion to Ala, then he headed off into the kitchen to make dinner.

Ala took him heading for the bathroom to get him cleaned up for supper

Torvil smiled, and tossed some meat on... He and Surion would have to have a talk... soon...

Ala's Journal
Dear Diary

Ohhhh boy this should be interesting. Not only is Surion having to get used to dragon games but I never expected to have to deal with the red flower so soon. Only time I've ever dealt with the red flower is with Vina... but I didn't really deal with that. I never even dealt with it for me..........

Torvil's Journal
Dear Journal,

Gah... So I guess Surion has an admirer... That's good, I guess, but she's probably going to be disappointed when she grows up faster than he does... Oh well, she'll cope I bet. It's only really 'welp' love right now, nothing to be overly worried about. It's really the males who peruse the females once they hit teenage years anyway... Not that I did much of that at that age... Well there was this one white haired girl by the name of... No never mind... Won't go into that... I'm going to be importing that flower soon... And I think I should give one to Ala too, just cause, well she's my wife and my mate, and I really don't remember the last time I did something nice for her, which is bad for me... I'm a Rakamash, we pamper our mates... Oh well, I best go eat... Till next...

A night and a Sunrise at the Cliffs

Suppertime came and went for the family and Surion was playing with a couple toys on the floor he'd left the flower near the table, unlike his cousin it didn't faze him as she played before bedtime

Torvil was looking at the flower and letting out a sigh, shaking his head slowly and, and thinking hard as to what he could do about it later. He looked to Ala, to see how she was doing.

Ala was reading, she had brought a single book with her, she had a feeling THAT wouldn't cause TOO much of a stir

Torvil chuckled and moved over to her, leaning over her shoulder. "So, good reading?" He asked softly.

"Same old same old" Ala said tipping the book so he could see the cover, it was the Kerrsalian textbook

Torvil chuckled and kissed the top of her head walking over to Surion. "What's Sur playin?" He asked softly.

Surion looked up at him "Dragon" he said holding up the stuffed toy with a grin

Torvil chuckled and kissed the top of his head. "Oh? Having fun?" He chuckled.

Surion nodded "A lil fun, dada ok?" he asked him

Torvil smiled. "Just feeling his age a bit..." He chuckled softly.

Surion stood up "Dada is?"

Torvil chuckled and poked his nose. "Kinda..." He chuckled softly, nuzzling his son. "You're growing up into a big boy..."

"broder and sisters bigger then Sur" he said wrapping his arm around his father's leg

Torvil chuckled. "Yeah they are, lots bigger..." He chuckled and brushed his hair. "But Daddy's not used to Sur getting bigger..." He smiled softly. "But that's okay, Sur needs to get big and strong, and be a good dragon..." he smiled.

Sur nodded "Sur get bigger toos" he said and hugged his father's leg tighter

Torvil smiled. "Yeah, Sur get bigger toos..." He chuckled and slowly leaned down to pick him up.

Surion let go of his father's leg looping his arms around his father's neck when it was in range

Torvil smiled and nuzzled his son a little as he headed outside, looking out over the sunset that was starting to fall on the cliffs

Surion looked at the colors in the sky his tail moved happily "Perty colored" he said grinning happily his tooth that was replacing the one he lost mostly in again

Torvil smiled. "Isn't it though?" He chuckled softly and kissed his son's cheek. "It's better in the morning, maybe I'll wake you up and we can watch the sunrise?"

"Otay dada" he said and leaned against his father's shoulder

Ala walked out and joined them "Pretty sky, Surion is right about that" she said

Torvil smiled and wrapped an arm around her waist. "How about we all wake up early and catch the sunrise?" He smiled and nuzzled both his wife and son, as they watched the sun set over the red stone of the cliffs.

"Take him to the top of the cliffs, it's the best from up there" she said standing close to him

Torvil nodded. "I know love..." He purred softly, kissing her cheek.

Ala chuckled and nodded

Sur's eyes had strayed from the sunset looking down at the other Dragonics moving around below them

Torvil smiled when he saw what his son was doing. "Those are your people Surion... Some day, they may need you, and some day they may call for you... I want you to be ready for that..." He chuckled. "I'm still waiting for mine..."

Sur blinked "Call for Sur?" he asked blinking confused

Torvil chuckled and poked his nose. "One day, they might need you, or I, or both of us... It could be crisis, there could be a famine...." He smiled softly. "But your sister will probably send us a note, or a runner, telling us to come, we may not live here, but we are part of the cliffs, and one day, they may need us here..." He kissed his forehead and smiled.

"Uuuhhhh Otay....." Surion had no idea what his father was talking about and shrugged his little shoulders looking back down at the other Dragonic again

Torvil chuckled and kisses his son's forehead again, he knew when the time came and it was important that his son would understand... He let out a light sigh, and cast his eyes down to the floor below them smiling. "Hey, I can see my old house from here..."

Ala looked down "Oh?" she asked

Torvil chuckled and pointed to a small man-sized hole in the rock. "Yeah... It goes back about ten feet..." He murmured. "Not all that comfy tho..."

Ala made a face, "lets not think about that, that was then this is now, you live in a cave, a real cave"

Torvil smiled and nuzzled her softly. "Yeah... And it's a nice cave..." He murmured, giving her cheek a soft lick before returning his attention back to Sur

Ala purred and kissed his cheek and returned into the cave

Surion was staring at the hole his father had been talking about

Torvil smiled softly and nuzzled his son. "Ready to go in?" He asked softly to Surion. "Or do you want to know why dad lived in a hole?"

Surion sat up and leaned against his dad "Dada choose" he said cuddling against his dad

Torvil smiled. "I'll tell you, but you have to promise that it won't make you be upset with your grandparents okay?" He said softly.

Surion blinked and looked up at his dad, he didn't understand why he would get upset with them

Torvil took a deep breath and began. "It all started when I was born...I had white hair and I was smaller than my brothers and sisters..." He sighed and sat, putting Surion in his lap. "Your grandmother wouldn't feed me, and your grandfather would beat me senseless if he saw me... They hated me, and I had to do everything in my power to stay out of their way. Everyone here at the cliffs hated me, hated my kind, the white hairs... All because of one man... But he's gone now, so we don't have to worry about him anymore. But anyway..." He took a moment to let what he said sink in.

Surion blinked the tip of one finger in his mouth, that didn't exactly make sense to him

Torvil brushed his hair. "They hated me because I was different..." He murmured softly, then sighed. "You know, this might be a better story for when you're older..."

Surion nodded slowly "Otay dada"

Torvil smiled and stood up, picked up Surion, and headed for the cave once more.

Surion leaned against him and yawned softly

Torvil chuckled and licked his forehead. "Sleepy?" He asked softly, giving him a nuzzle*

"Sur sleepy dada" he said quietly worn out from running around and playing

Torvil chuckled and hugged him tight, heading for the pallet when they entered.

Ala looked up "Bedtime?" she asked watching her males

Torvil nodded. "For Surion at least..." He said softly, moving to lay down on the pallet. "Unless of course you're ready for bed..."

"Been a long day, I think we have another fun filled day ahead of us tomorrow" Ala said closing her book and getting up "We should try and get a bigger cave tomorrow"

Torvil nodded. "Alright..." He smiled softly, laying down on the pallet and holding Surion.

Ala stretched and blew out a candle then crawled into the pallet with Surion and Torvil smiling and purring softly

Torvil purred happily and hugged her close, along with Surion and closing his eyes, a smile on his lips.

Ala fell asleep quickly

Surion was asleep before his mother even joined them

Torvil smiled, and let out a soft sigh, slowly falling asleep.

~~~Next Day~~~
As Torvil had promised he'd woken everybody early and now they sat up on the top of the cliffs, watching the sun rise.
Ala yawned as she sat and waited, she wasn't used to this early of a wakeup anymore
Torvil smiled and nuzzled her softly, just as the sun started to peak over the top of the cliffs.
"Look Sur" Ala said softly nudging her son who was playing with the ties of his little shoes
Surion looked up and smiled "Oooo perty" he said
Torvil smiled and watched the sunrise, "When it's over..." He murmured softly. "We'll drop Surion off at Mikiri's place, and go cave shopping"
Ala nodded "And get some of that juice, it should wake me up at least"
Torvil smiled and kissed her cheek. "Yeah..." He murmured softly.
Ala smiled softly and leaned against his shoulder watching the sun
Torvil smiled and put his head against hers. "This is nice..." he purred softly.
Ala nodded "I agree wholeheartedly"
Sur sat up more "Color perty!" he said pointing at the changes in the color
Torvil smiled and ruffled his hair, letting out a purr.
Surion giggled as his hair was ruffled unlike his mother he was very awake
Torvil chuckled and smiled. "Well lets go... The booths should be opening and Mikiri is prolly making breakfast by now..." He murmured.
Ala nodded getting up "Want me to Sur or you?"
Torvil smiled. "If you want to carry him be my guest...":
Ala reached down and hefted her son onto her hip "You are getting big Surion" she said
Sur giggled "Sur big!"
Torvil chuckled and stood up, brushing Surion's cheek, walking slowly down the way to Mikiri's house.
Danger at the Cliffs
Torvil smiled and soon they reached his' mother's and father's cave. He stuck his head in. "Hello, anyone home?" He called with a smile.
"In the kitchen son! Be out in a minute!" Mitizimi called.
Ala placed Surion down as she entered the cave, which in itself may have been a mistake if they wanted to keep him close cause he automatically took off in the direction of his Grandmother's voice
Torvil chuckled and watched as his mother came out and saw Surion.
She smiled and knelt down. "It looks like someone grew..." She smiled and opened his arms for him. "Come give Grams a hug!"
"Gamma!" he cried happily and almost literally threw himself into her arms wrapping his arms around her neck
Ala chuckled and shook her head "Hi Mom" she greeted her mother in law
Mitizimi smiled and stood, holding Surion close with a smile. "Hi Ala-dear, how are you?" She beamed brushing Surion's hair with her fingers. She seemed to be glowing a little.
Torvil smiled and leaned on the wall of the cave, happy to see his mother.
"We're well, here for a while, not sure exactly how long, but a while, till he grows and does his hunt" she said with a smile
Surion cuddled against his grandmother enjoying her attention
Mitizimi smiled and brushed his hair more. "I'm glad you guys are going to be around." She moved her hand down and patted his back smiling. "You might get to watch Torvil's siblings grow up..." She murmured. her free arm going to her stomach.
Torvil's eyes went wide... for a moment.
Ala chuckled "More siblings, this should be interesting" she said and looked over at her mate
Surion looked up at his grandmother with a big grin his tail moving happily behind him
Mitizimi smiled at him and kissed his forehead. "Well It'll be good to see you guys, you staying long here?" She asked softly.
"Well we're looking for a bigger cave, and we were going to drop Surion off at Mikiri's..." He said softly.
"Little Man needs more room, a room of his own, the newlywed cave can only fit a family for so long" Ala said with a chuckle
Mitizimi nodded and smiled. "Yeah I know..." She rubbed her tummy then went back to stroking Surion's hair, then finally put him down. "If you could stop by before tomorrow... I shouldn't be in labor...." She smiled softly.
Torvil nodded slowly and smiled.
Surion looked up at her smiling "Gamma happy" he said with a giggle he said seeing her expression
"We'll try, and it's likely we will see the growth, I don't expect this stay at the cliffs to be really short" she told her
Mitizimi smiled and kissed the top of his head. "Yes, Grams happy..." She purred and then stood.
Torvil nodded and smiled.
Surion giggled and ran a few circles around her legs before running towards his father
Torvil chuckled and knelt down ready to snag him when he got there. Mitizimi smiled happily.
Surion ran headlong into his father's arms giggling the entire way, he had plenty of energy to burn
Ala chuckled and shook her head glad to be leaving Surion with her sister in law to burn that energy
Torvil chuckled and got up, heading out of the cave with a smile and a wave at his mother.
Mitizimi waved back and headed back into the kitchen. "Have a good day!"
"You have a relaxing day mom" Ala said and smiled then followed after Torvil
Surion waved over his father's shoulder "byebye Gamma!"
"Bye, Bye Surion!" She giggled as he left, that boy made her so happy...
Torvil smiled and held Surion. "Now to Mikiri's place..." he chuckled.
Ala nodded "That's interesting, you looked shocked for a moment when you heard her news" she mused as they walked
Torvil chuckled. "I never figured I'd be around to see my sibs when they were little..." he chuckled weakly.
Ala chuckled "Well chances are you'll see most if not all of their growth, I don't know when Surion will grow, and we are here till he has his hunt"
Torvil nodded. "And may Visha grant it comes none too soon..." He murmured softly, knowing full well what it entailed.
"He'll grow when it's his time to, when he's ready, and then You will help him prepare and do his hunt. I'm sure it's tough and I wont ask about it, it's not my place" she said with a nod
Torvil nodded and smiled. "Thank you for understanding love... I hate to admit it... But they're monster secretive..." He rubbed Surion's back as they walked. "Healers... Not so much..."
"I don't think the healers here would much like me joining their ranks though it's probably what I'd be more suited to, only 'hunting' I've ever done per say was when we went into the under caves" she said
Surion watched where they were walking a curious look on his face
Torvil chuckled softly, "You'd be surprised love... I'm sorry to say that our family has been cursed with meeting the worst of the lot... There are some that are said to have powers like yours, but are only allowed them in emergencies... But again, hearsay..." He chuckled when he caught a glimpse of Surion's face.
"I'll hang back unless I'm directly asked to be a part of these things, preferably by an Elder" Ala said with a nod
Surion's eyes took in his surroundings he was rather in a curious mood
Torvil smiled. "Yeah... Probably a good idea...." He bit his lip and nodded, he didn't want to say too much more, he was toeing the line a bit as it was. "Oh look!" He chuckled, nearing Mikiri's place, there was already a large gaggle of children waiting for, 'The Leader'
Ala laughed "They come in flocks here I swear"
Surion squirmed in his father's arms trying to get down as soon as he saw more kids to play with "Down"
Torvil chuckled and put him down. "At least get your cousin first..." he chuckled weakly.
Surion took off in the direction of the other kids and his cousin's doorway as soon as his feet touched the ground
Ala chuckled and moved closer putting her arm around Torvil's waist
Torvil purred. "We should at least make sure Mikiri knows that he's here... So she knows when to get him for lunch..." he said softly. "Then we can find our new house..." He wrapped an arm around her too.
"Course" Ala said with a nod
Surion approached the group and slowed looking around them his tail moving excitedly
The Children smiled and were holding back from charging the cave only because they knew they would get in trouble... However, once they spotted Surion. "Jakath's cool cousin!" They cried... And swarmed.
Torvil chuckled. "He's sure popular..."
Ala laughed "I wish it was something other then his body parts that made him popular" she mused
Surion didn't see his cousin "Sur be back" he said matter of factly and took a sniff and without a hesitation bolted into Mikiri's cave yelling his cousin's name
Jakath darted out of his room, hopping into his pants. "Coming!" He called as he slipped on his shoes once he finished.
Torvil chuckled softly and kissed her ear. "That will change in time..."
Ala chuckled and nodded "Perhaps we should save your sister from our hollering son?"
Surion was in fact hollering, running a few circles around his cousin and trying to get him to play with him, and not being at all quiet about it
Torvil chuckled. "Perhaps..."
Jakath smiled and hopped up and down. "Outside! Outside! Play outside!" He grabbed his cousin's wrist and bolted.
Ala shook her head "Kids" she laughed
Surion raced after his cousin "Yayy!!!!" he cried out
Torvil chuckled. "Grow up fast, so let them have their fun while they still don't have to worry..." He kissed her cheek. "Lets go find Mikiri and then go shop..."
Jakath led him out into the swarm of children again, but didn't stop, the crowd just moved with them wherever they went, the two girls from before were the closest to them tho, and no one dare get nearer than they allowed.
Surion had forgotten about the flower, so it was furthest from his mind as he ran with his cousin a big grin on his face
Jakath however had not, and tried with all his might to shake the girls, failing at every attempt, in fact, all he succeeded in doing was shaking the main group. He sighed and kept moving, and soon they were in an area that he knew they were stuck, any farther, and they would reach the ramp to the plains below, 'off limits' to those so young as they, for there were rather dangerous predators out on the plains... Dangerous ones indeed.
Surion just simply was following his cousin, he wasn't any the wiser what Jakath was trying to do, "Where go?" he asked his cousin as they entered the area
"Away from girls..." He said softly. "Girls will want us play house... Want..." He shuddered for a moment. "Kiss..." He made a sick face and actually started running down the ramp.
This stopped Jaine and Kalia dead in their tracks. "Jakath no! That no-go!" Jaine whined and fought for a moment before following, as did Kalia.
Surion blinked at his cousin's explanation but ran with him pulled along by his cousin
Soon they hit the not so grassy part of the plains, the grass was only up to their ankles here, but not more than ten yards off it shot to above their heads. There were parts in the grass where one could see large animals had passed, some predatory, some not. Jaine and Kalia moved closer to the boys, scared, and slightly upset, they were worried they were gonna get in trouble. Jakath however, didn't fret, he kept up, not letting go of Surion and heading for a tree in the clearing.
Surion looked towards the grass as he moved along with his cousin he saw the animal paths but stuck with Jakath
Jakath didn't stop till they reached the tree and sat down, panting, and closing his eyes. "Jaine and Kalia should go home, no get in trouble, my Da elder, me not get in big trouble, you no have Elder Da, you need go home..." He said softly.
"No go home! We go home we tell on Jakath and Sur, And Elder Da or no, they get in big trouble, well all in trouble anyway..." The girls replied
Surion looked between them "Sur trouble?" he didn't understand why, he didn't know this area was off limits to kids his age and his cousin's age
"This area no go..." Jaine started. "Danger, Animals, big! They eat..." She looked around, afraid one such thing would come and get them all... She'd lost a brother to them, she'd not seen the damage... She'd been to little to look at the body, but it hadn't been too much before Surion had arrived.
Surion looked around as she did his tail wrapping around his side till he held it's tip in his hands "Aminal eat?"
"Yeah, big... Like jaur... and Dragon..." She whimpered. "Dragon's eat..."
Surion stared towards the grass near them and put a finger in his mouth chewing on it nervously and winding up piercing it with one of his sharp incisors and sucking at it
Jaine and Kalia looked around nervous, jittery messes. Jakath however was cool and calm. "We no need fear, Da said they no come this tree... This tree safe." The boy didn't know how wrong he was...
Surion looked around them and then up at the tree itself looking up into it's branches
Right above them, not more than maybe ten feet up, lay a dozing Dire Plains Jaguar, it was sleeping granted, but still, it was, rather large, and had saber toothed fangs. It's paw, was more than the size of a dinner plate, and well, It's markings were more stripped than spotted, but from where Surion was he could see it in all it's glory.
Surion grabbed his cousin's hand and pulled at him backing up as he did, his eyes were very wide
"What Sur, tree safe!" He grunted, looking up, and then freezing.
Sur shook his head and pulled harder then grabbed one of the girl's hands he was following pure instinct to RUN!
The girl he grabbed was Kalia, Jaine already had Jakath's other hand. Kalia didn't really understand why Surion was running, but she looked up... And screamed. Her scream was rather loud, and this roused the Jaguar, who, up until that moment, had been more than content to nap during the hottest point in the day. However, now something new came to his senses, four rather tasty looking small morsels, running... away... from his tree. If the Jaguar could have smiled, it is more than likely he would have, as he leapt to the ground and gave chase.
Surion ran as fast as his little legs would go he was pulling Kalia with him heading on a direct path for the ramp that would lead back into the cliffs where they had come from
The Jaguar was gaining, and Jakath, being the oh so intelligent child that he was, decided to turn his head around and look back at the beast. This however caused him to miss the lovely exposed rock that just happened to be jutting out of the ground at just the right angle to make him fall flat on his face. He let go of Jaine's hand as he fell. "Run!" He shouted, even as he roughly landed. He started to scurry back to his feet, but it looked as if the Jaguar had caught up enough on him to attempt a pounce, as it was working itself to do that just then.
Surion didn't want to leave his cousin to be eaten and not entirely thinking of the consequences picked up the nearest rock and threw it at the beast
The Jaguar, surprised by the rock, faltered a smidge in it's jump, the rock, spooked it quite a bit, but it wasn't about to give up it's meal just because someone decided to fight back. It re adjusted itself, but this time, charged straight for the thing that made it 'mad', Surion.
Surion turned and bolted hoping his cousin would be smart and move, he screamed and headed up the ramp as fast as his legs would carry him the girls already ahead cause like Jakath he had let go of Kalia
Kalia looked worried, and was motioning for Surion to hurry the heck up! Jakath was hitting the ramp a few steps behind Surion, having regained his feet. The Jaguar started to follow them up the cliff ramp... That is, until a well aimed spear from about twenty feet up in the air from above caused the Jaguar to cease moving... Or breathing for that matter.
The spear didn't make Surion stop as he ran up the ramp screaming at the top of his little lungs he didn't intend to stop either
Surion was stopped, by a strong pair of familiar smelling hands. Korvil grunted as he grabbed his grandson. "Not how I expected to see you grown for the first time..."
"Gampa" he cried out he said turning and burying himself into his grandfather's legs
Korvil brushed his hair. "It's gone..." He murmured. "It's gone..." He looked at the other three. "Alright, Who's Bloody Damned Idea was this to go down the ramp huh?!" Korvil was not happy, not happy at all.
The two girls burst into tears, and pointed at Jakath, who was currently too busy staring at the impaled Jaguar to notice that he was in fact, in very, very big trouble.
Surion clung to his grandfather's leg sniffling, glad for a familiar scent regardless how angry his grandfather sounded right then
Jakath slowly became un-shell-shocked and made his way back to Korvil. "Grampa!" He squeaked when he realized that his grandfather was there. He paled. "I... I can... I can explain!" He whined.
"I don't care if Visha told you to go down there, you boy, are in very, very big trouble... I'm taking you all home..." Korvil told his grandson
Surion looked at his cousin his grip on his grandfather's leg did not loosen
Jakath looked stricken but bowed his head. "Yes sir..."
Korvil reached down to pick up Surion, who was obviously in no condition to walk right then. The girls stayed behind him, they were scared of the hunter.
Surion's clinging changed from his grandfather's leg to his neck when he was in his grandfather's arms his tail wrapped around his grandfather's arm as well
Korvil patted his back as he walked. "We'll drop you girls off first..." He murmured softly. "Just so you know, you aren't in as much trouble as Jakath..."
The girls looked relieved.
"But... Wait! That's not fair!" Jakath whined.
Surion didn't say anything as he sniffled against his grandfather's shoulder
"Of course it's fair, you're a leader Jakath weather you realize it or not, people follow you easily, you're just like your father, you're very lucky no one got hurt... or worse... Killed, because you decided to run out into the plains!" Korvil was not in a good mood as he dropped the girls off and recanted what little he knew of the goings on, their parent's were worried yes, and many a bad look was tossed in Jakath's direction, by the time they finally got home, Jakath, went straight to his room, while Korvil sought out Mikiri.
Surion had refused point blank to let go of his grandfather even when they got to his Aunt's cave
Korvil just carried him around, till he found Mikiri. "Well, you're son just about got Surion and two girls killed today..." His voice just bubbled with anger.
"What?! How?!" Mikiri gasped, putting down the weaving she'd been working on and looking over to her father and nephew.
"He decided a little field excursion down the ramp to the plains was in order." Korvil stated.
Surion looked at his aunt and at his grandfather, he could sense the anger from his grandfather quite clearly. his tail wrapped a lil tighter around his arm
"No? He didn't... Did... he?" Mikiri asked in stark disbelief
"Yes, he did, and he nearly got himself eaten by a Bloody Dire Jaguar!" Korvil seethed.
Surion whimpered burying his face into his grandfather's shoulder again clinging tighter
Korvil sighed and softly rubbed Surion's back, slowly trying to calm himself down.
Mikiri stormed out of the room... Her hands clenched into fists.
"Gampa mad" he whimpered not wanting to move an inch from where he was right then
"Grampa very mad, Jakath did not think, and he did something very stupid..." Korvil growled...
A few moments later there was a crash, a loud whimper and the sound of Mikiri shouting her head off.
Surion clung tighter hearing the yelling and started to cry, his dislike of yelling was no less now then it was when he was an infant
Korvil brushed his hair, and soon an strange silence filled the cave. These caves were not meant to be silent, usually there was activity all around. But today... Today there was a lull in that activity... at least, Until Mikiri came out of Jakath's room and started to get back to work, weaving a basket to hold greens in as she needed a new one, Jakath had broken the last one to play a cliff game with a ball and a basket. She sighed and finally gave up working, starting to cry.
Surion sniffled and slowly turned his head to look at his aunt hearing her crying. He squirmed till his grandfather put him down then went over to his aunt latching on around her waist
Mikiri sniffled. "Hey..." She wiped her eyes and scooted back, pulling him up into her lap and burring her face in his hair, she brushed it softly and inhaled, crying a little harder now.
Surion clung to her now her scent was familiar and that's what he needed
Mikiri held him and sniffled, rocking him back and forth and trying very hard to stop her own crying.
"Sur otay, you otay too?" he asked quietly
Mikiri sniffled softly. "Yeah..." She murmured weakly. "I'm Okay..." She hugged him tight and sniffled. "Are you okay, did it hurt you?"
"Sur no owie" he said "Sur frow rock no get Jakaf" he said quietly "Sur run. Gampa get" he told her
Mikiri hugged him tighter. "Thank you Surion... For protecting Jakath..." She smiled weakly and wiped her eyes. "He's not going to be able to play with you morrow or the next day tho... Understand?
Surion looked up at her and blink "Otay" he said quietly after a few minutes
She hugged him close and sighed. "Alright... Well I think we could both benefit from a nice nap... What about you?
Mikiri's question came too late for Surion had rested against her chest once he had said okay a single finger in his mouth and closed his eyes dozing off worn out from running
Mikiri giggled softly and stood, she moved to Jakath's room and put Surion next to her own sleeping son, who, by the looks of things, would have a rather nice black eye and a goose egg by the next day, not to mention a few other bruises. She sighed and shook her head, and then walked out of the room, heading to her own to lay down... and think.
After the Nap & The New Cave
Mikiri puttered around her work after her nap, letting out a light sigh. She knew she would be the one to break the news to Torvil and Ala, and that would not be the most fun thing for her to do. She sighed and shook her head, her hands working at the basket once more.
Surion woke looking around and sitting up, he saw his sleeping cousin beside of him and the door, he crawled off the pallet heading for the door
Mikiri was still puttering around when he wandered out, she was quite focused in her work, but his footsteps, though soft as they were for his size, were heard by her, and she slowly turned her head to look at him.
"Sur gogo" he said quietly standing and looking up at her chewing a little on his finger
Mikiri nodded and walked over, leading him to the bathroom, and letting him do his business, waiting outside the door way for him.
Surion came out after looked up at her "Sur up" he said reaching upwards to her
Mikiri smiled and reached down and picked him up with a smile. "Okay..." She smiled and held him close to her with a smile.,
Surion leaned against her his eyes darting about the room as if looking for something
Mikiri brushed his hair. "What are you looking for Surion?" She asked softly, kissing the top of his head softly.
"Big big aminal" he said quietly still looking around making sure none were around
"Oh Surion..." Mikiri sighed, hugging the little boy closer to her and putting her face in his hair. "There are not big big animals up here..." She murmured.
"Otay" Surion said quietly cuddling against her feeling safe in her arms
Mikiri sighed and brushed the child's hair and then went to go sit on her couch. She didn't know how much longer his parent's would be, and she really hoped they would take him soon... She knew she would have to take care of her son soon.
Surion didn't want to leave his aunts arms, now and then looking around to reassure himself there wasn't any predators around
Mikiri brushed his hair and sighed every time he did. She wondered when Torvil and Ala would get back, and almost sighed with relief when Torvil came walking into the cave.
Ala was talking with him as she appeared behind him taking about the cave they were going to move into
Surion saw his parents and squirmed off his aunt's lap, off the couch and bolted towards his father wrapping his arms around his leg when he got there
Torvil leaned down and smiled. "Hey little guy... How did your day go..." He murmured, slowly picking him up and smiling at his sister. "Yeah, it'll be a nice cave love, I'm sure..."
"Sur not like big aminal" he whimpered clinging to his father's neck and like he had with his grandfather, he wrapped his tail around his father's arm
Ala quirked a brow at her son's statement
Torvil brushed his hair and looked to his sister for answers, his brow likewise rising a few inches.
Mikiri sighed. "My son decided it would be a good idea to head down the ramp and into the plains, he took Surion and two girls with him, They were attacked by a Jaguar, and Korvil was thankfully there to save them, it chased them halfway up the ramp... he said anyway..."
Ala's eyes widened, she'd not been in the plains herself but had heard about them "What?!" she looked between her son and mate and her sister in law
Torvil's face was drawn into a not so happy image. "He did?" He said softly, then looked to Surion for a moment and brushed his hair.
Mikiri sighed. "Yes, he did, and he has been punished for it, thankfully, no one was injured or killed, so we can thank Visha for that... But I don't think Jakath will be getting up and playing anytime soon..." She murmured
Ala stared back and forth between them moving closer to her son and resting a hand on his leg
Surion looked up at his father his eyes held the fear he'd felt
Torvil brushed his hair and sighed, putting his forehead to his son's. "You're safe now..." he turned and looked at Mikiri. "I hope you gave him a few good licks for me..." He said softly.
"You and Grandfather both..." She sighed and rubbed her hand. The knuckles on her right were a little bruised.
Surion cuddled against his father whimpering softly
Ala sighed "This is not how this day was supposed to go" she said rubbing a temple
Torvil hugged his son and sighed. "I know love... I know... But sometimes things happen..." he murmured softly, leaning over and kissing her cheek. "Lets go take Surion to our new home... Let him see it, and see that it's safe..."
Ala nodded "Thanks Mikiri, for taking him while we did that" she turned to head out "Guess it's time we taught Surion the no going areas of the cliffs, though I doubt we'll ever find him going down that ramp any time soon"
Torvil nodded slowly and sighed. "Yeah..." Though he knew exactly when Surion would be heading down that ramp again... The day of his hunt. He bit his lip but nodded anyway, holding his son close to him.
Mikiri smiled weakly. "It was no problem sister, it was my pleasure." She bowed her head. "I just wish this day could have ended on better terms..."
"Yeah better terms would have nicer" Ala said with a sigh "However, we can't control what happens in life. I don't hold anything against ya" she said with a nod
Surion cuddled close to his father whimpering
Torvil brushed his hair more and soothingly started to hum softly, rocking him back and forth as he slowly headed out the door. "Night Mikiri..." he Said before returning to humming. "Thank you, and goodnight..." She said softly as she slowly stood to head back to her work.
Ala smiled and waved and then followed her mate and son from the cave
Surion quieted listening to his father's humming against his chest
Torvil walked and hummed, looking over his shoulder at Ala and slowly his pace, still humming softly and hoping Surion would fall asleep... He needed to talk to Ala about something, it was rather important now that he tell her all he could...
Surion did doze off, humming and singing very often did that too him, and he was in the presence of a very familiar scent and that in itself was comforting
Ala hurried and caught up to Torvil and Surion walking along side of him
"We have a problem..." He said softly, not wanting to wake Surion, nor wanting him to hear what he was about to say... yet.
"A problem?" Ala asked quietly looking at him with a curious expression
"I'm risking a bit by telling you this... Some of the hunters like nothing to be know about the hunt... But I think it's safe enough to say that everybody knows this... Surion's going to have to go down that ramp again..." He said softly.
"Down the ramp" she sighed "I'm guessing you are referring to what he's going to be doing after he grows" she said quietly
Torvil nodded. "Unless he grows wings between now and then that ramp is the only way down off the cliffs." He murmured weakly. "The only way... Every one takes it... There isn't another choice... He has to leave the cliffs and return to the cliffs by his own power..." he stopped after that. "I'm starting to say to much..."
Ala sighed and bit her lip "Yeah, don't tell me what you shouldn't" she said "Hopefully when the time comes he'll be ready for it"
Torvil nodded slowly. "Yeah... With hope..." He wished he could tell her everything... But rules were rules, and the penalty for breaking them... Were dire. He sighed and rubbed his son's back softly.
Ala nodded "I understand" she said her mind thinking as she walked alongside them
Torvil nodded and sighed walking along. "Maybe one day... if things change..." he said hopeful. "But again, I doubt it..." He closed his eyes and shook his head.
"Torvil, how many female hunters are there?" she asked curiously. "Or is that not allowed to be told too"
Torvil was silent for a moment. "Quite a few... My... Sister is one..." He said softly.
Ala nodded wrapping an arm around his waist as they neared the newer cave
Torvil purred softly. "Maybe I should introduce you..." He murmured. "She's my older sister... Melania..." He kissed her cheek softly and cuddled against her, even as he held Sur.
"I think the only family members of yours that I know are your relatives are your mom, dad, two brothers and Mikiri" Ala chuckled "Though I'm sure you have many many more"
Torvil chuckled. "More than I can count..." He smiled. "But you meet them every once and awhile..." he said softly nodding his head. "You should talk to her, you'll like her... I hope... I don't think she's found a mate yet..." he chuckled.
"What does she think of you, I mean all things considering" she asked softly
Torvil was quiet for awhile. "Before the hunt, I did not exist... After the hunt..." he was silent for a moment. "I had much honor in her eyes... She was one of the very few that would stand my presence... Now..." He smiled softly. "I've not seen her in a long time... So we'd have to visit her..."
Ala nodded "Might be nice to see more of your family, especially now that well... that your father accepts you"
Torvil nodded slowly. "Yeah..." he said softly. "He was the main person everyone looked to... Not that you really had a choice... It was follow him... Or get beaten..."
"I think your father really has changed, even from the first time I met him" she told him softly
Torvil nodded slowly. "Yeah..." he said softly, kissing her cheek and letting out a sigh. "Though today I'm sure he would have happily backslid..."
Ala sighed "Lets not think about that" she said giving her Mate's waist a squeeze
Torvil nodded slowly and let out a sigh, closing his eyes for a moment. "Yeah..." He said softly slowly walking into their new cave. "Yeah... Lets let Surion sleep with us tonight at least..."
"I think that might be a good idea, he's pretty clingy right now" She said softly leaning against him
Torvil nodded and kissed her cheek again. "Yeah..." he murmured softly. "I hope he... I hope he gets over the fear..." He sighed. "But at least no one got hurt... By the Jaguar at least..."
Ala nodded "Definitely agreed, I am so very glad your father was near them"
Torvil nodded slowly. "Yeah, I think he was going out for the day... Things didn't go as planned... But I think Mother will have a new throw for the babies..." At that moment Torvil swore. "Gah! I almost forgot, we promised we'd visit before morrow.."
Ala stopped "Should we do that before we go to the new cave?" she asked
"Yeah..." He murmured, changing his course so that they would hit his mother's cave instead. "We did promise..."
Ala did an about face with him heading in the direction he was "We wont stay long though, I'm sure she needs her rest, I remember what it's like"
Torvil nodded. "Just long enough to say high, and maybe let Surion touch her tummy and feel them kick..." He murmured. "She should be about there by now..."
"Hopefully we can get him to let go of you" she said quietly
Torvil sighed softly and nodded. "Yeah..." He murmured weakly. "I wish we could make him forget... But no... He needs to get through this, work through it and become stronger..." He sighed and shook his head. "He's fine for a non cliff child... But...." He bit his lip.
Ala sighed and nodded "He's not used to things the Cliff way, it's part of why we are here" she said quietly
Torvil nodded and sighed as well. "Yeah..." He murmured. "But that's alright... He'll learn..." He murmured softly. "He will be strong... Like everyone here..."
"Will just take him a little longer then the others" she said softly
Torvil nodded. "I know love... I know... I'm... I'm really glad he's the way he is..." he said softly holding him closer as he neared his mother's cave. "I know he'll grow up to be kind and caring... Just like his mum..."
Ala purred softly "Thankyou love" she said softly and got a bit quiet as they closed on the cave door
Torvil nuzzled her softly and walked into the cave, seeing his mother sitting on the couch, and she probably wasn't going anywhere else till it was time, she was rather large. Torvil smiled and waved to her with his free hand. "Hey mom..." He said softly.
"Hello Torvil..." She said softly, sighing and laying her head back.
"Hi Mom" Ala said following Torvil in and smiling softly seeing her sitting and relaxing "How ya doing?"
"Alright..." She smiled and looked up. "I'm glad Surion's okay... Korvil told me what happened..." She sighed and closed her eyes. "If he's awake... They're kicking..."
Surion woke hearing the louder voices an lifted his head from his father's chest looking around using one hand to rub his eyes
Torvil smiled. "He's awake now..." He said softly. "Surion, do you want to feel you Uncles and aunts kicking?" He asked softly.
Surion "Kick?" he was curious about this turning and looking at his grandmother who didn't look like he had seen her hours before
Mitizimi smiled at him. "Come feel..." She giggled, patting her large tummy softly,'
Surion's expression looked torn between decisions when she said that, he didn't want out of his father's arms, but he was also curious about his grandmother
Torvil slowly moved closer to her, and made it so Surion could touch without leaving his arms. He smiled softly and kissed his son's head. Mitizimi smiled softly and moved her hands up on her tummy,.
Surion reached a little hand poking her belly with a single finger
Mitizimi giggled. "Just touch it flat handed Surion, you can feel the babies kick..." She smiled softly.
Surion blinked still poking her, he wasn't exactly sure what his grandmother meant "kick"
Mitizimi giggled and took his hand, softly putting it to her tummy just as one of the children kicked.
Surion's eyes went wide and he stared at her belly "What do?" he asked his other hand clinging to his father's tunic
Mitizimi giggled. "I have babies in there Surion, and they're moving around, one of them just kicked. Another kick came and went.
Torvil chuckled and smiled.
Surion stared more "Baby in Gamma?" he asked
Mitizimi laughed softly. "More than one Surion..." She smiled softly. "More like five or six by my guess..."
"One, three, five, two, six" Surion said with a little giggle, he didn't know his numbers in the proper order but he tried.
Mitizimi giggled loudly and smiled. "Close enough..." She grinned at him. "They'll be born morrow...
Surion leaned over and planted a kissy on his grandmother's belly then sat up and leaned against his father happily
Mitizimi smiled and purred. "Thank you Surion..." She smiled. "I do hope you come and see them..." She smiled softly. Torvil nodded.
Surion nodded not moving from his father's chest listening to his father's heart
Ala chuckled "Don't worry Mom I'll make sure he comes"
Mitizimi smiled. "Thank you dear." She sighed softly and rubbed her tummy. "I best get to be before they decide to come..." She murmured slowly standing and starting to waddle to bed. "See you tomorrow!" She called as she moved.
"Or before you can't move too well" Ala said chuckling softly "We'll head out, congrats and we'll see you soon"
Surion waved a hand "Bye bye Gamma" he called quietly
Torvil smiled and started heading out. "Bye mom!" He called. "Bye you three have a good night!"
Ala turned and headed for the entrance to head out "Now then, to our new home we go"
Torvil smiled and nodded. "Yeah..." He said, heading that way.
Ala was silent most of the way home thinking as she walked, it wasn't until they were at their cave entrance that she spoke again "Torvil I'm getting feelings not being able to talk with me about things is hard..." she said softly
Torvil nodded slowly. "I want to tell you everything..." He murmured softly. "I want you to know... But I can't tell you..." He sighed softly.
"Torvil... what... what if I were to consider becoming one... I kinda find it awkward not being able to talk to my mate about things too" she asked quietly
Torvil bit his lip. "I could... talk to the others about it... Joman did it..." He said softly, softly rubbing Surion's back. "But... I'd have to find you a sponsor... Malkar did Joman..."
Ala nodded and walked into the cave leaving his side to go make a snack
Surion cuddled close and for the first time since he was born purred softly
Torvil smiled and chuckled softly and started to purr back. He rubbed his back softly and watched ala go make a snack, he went to go sit down at the table,.
Ala puttered around pulling out some cliff fruit bringing it to the table before grabbing drinks and then sitting down
Torvil smiled and took a fruit, biting into it and purring louder. "Mmmm Good choice love..."
Ala chuckled softly "Just wanted a simple snack" she said cutting the fruit and handing a couple slices to Surion who took them and ate them
Torvil smiled. "Yeah..." He smiled softly and kissed Surion's hair. "You get to sleep with us tonight Surion, unless you want to try out your new room..."
Surion clung tighter to his father making it plainly obvious that wasn't what he wanted to do that night
Ala ate quietly watching them
Torvil nodded and hugged him. "Okay, with mommy and daddy it is then... You want daddy to get some of your dragons?" he asked softly.
Surion nodded looking up into his father's eyes "pease dada" he said quietly
Torvil nodded. "You want to come with Dada?" He asked softly, brushing his cheek.
Surion nodded one remaining piece of fruit clutched in his fist and he was sucking at it's juices
Torvil smiled and slowly got up, moving for Surion's room.
Surion looked around curiously when his father moved about the cave, he found it curious to be in a new place
Torvil smiled as they entered Surion's new room, his dragons lay on his pallet and he went and grabbed one.
Surion reached his un-fruity hand and took it from him and pulled it close sandwiching it between him and Torvil
Torvil smiled and kissed his head, moving back out to the main area.
"Tankyou dada" Surion said quietly then returned to munching on the fruit that was currently dripping on his father's tunic from his now sticky hand
Torvil chuckled softly and kissed his head. "No problem Sur..." He chuckled at the dripping, knowing he'd have to clean it later.
Surion finished and his now empty hand clung to his father's tunic and leaned against his chest closing his eyes
Torvil smiled and moved towards the pallet which lay in another 'room'.
Ala wandered after them humming softly
Torvil looked over his shoulder and smiled at her softly, laying down slowly on the pallet.
Ala crawled in after him noticing her son had already dropped back off to sleep as she did
Torvil smiled and slowly kissed her leaning over Surion. "Good night my love..." he said softly.
"Night Torvil love" she said softly and then went to sleep
Torvil lay awake for awhile. He sighed. He had one thought on his mind... He would talk to Ala about it... Tomorrow...
Ala slept peacefully waking with the sun the next morning, by the time she did wake she had a 'growth' by the name of Surion clinging now to her
Torvil was already up and about, he was cooking breakfast, and glad that Surion wasn't on him when he'd gotten up.
Ala sighed and scooped up her clinging and sleeping son and with a little difficulty went to locate her Mate
Torvil was puttering around the kitchen in only his pants, working on making breakfast... Eggs... and a strange looking meat.
"Hey love" Ala said trying not to wake Surion which was a pointless effort since he was already stirring from being moved
Torvil smiled softly. "Eggs and... J-a-g-u-a-r, for breakfast..." He said softly, already starting on the meat.
"Ahh, should make for an interesting meal" she said putting the letters together
Surion lifted his head looking around
Ala smiled and looked down at him "Sur gonna be a big boy and sit in his chair?" she asked him
After a few moments thought and looked at his chair then slowly nodded "Otay" he said quietly and slowly detached himself from her
Torvil smiled and when the meat was finished he put the plates down before them, the meat on Surion's plate was cut up already, and the eggs were scrambled. He chuckled. "Dad thought we should get a cut after he talked to some of the witnesses..." he said vaguely.
Ala quirked a brow putting her son down "Witnesses?" she asked curiously and pushed his plate closer to him so he could eat
"The two female ones said that ours helped in the defensive end..." He said softly, nodding his head. "A very brave and noble thing to do..." He said softly. "The other male also verified it..." He wasn't trying to let Surion know what he was talking about as he ate.
Ala nodded "You'll have to tell me more about it laters" she mused wanting to hear more about this
Surion ate his meal not really totally paying attention to anything but his meal
Torvil smiled. "How's the meal Surion?" He asked softly, cutting his own meat and eating.
Surion looked up at his dad "Sur have nummy foods" he said with a smile and then returned to eating
Ala chuckled and shook her head
Torvil couldn't help but laugh softly... If only he knew... He was quite sure his son would be running as far away from his plate as possible...
Ala finished off her meal and watched as Surion did the same "So what's on the agenda today" she asked him
Torvil tapped his chin. "Well Jakath's out of commission... We should Visit mum and see if the babies are here... Other than that... " He shrugged.
Ala nodded "You still have something to explain to your son too" she told him "If you think he's ready for it"
Torvil nodded slowly. "Yeah..." He sighed softly and looked at him. "I'm not sure... yet..." he sighed and shook his head. "I'll try..."
Ala nodded gathering their empty plates heading for the sink 'something wrong love' she asked him in her said in her mind
'I'm just not sure he's ready yet...' He murmured into her mind. 'I mean... well... He might be, but I still think his minds too young...'
Ala nodded and worked on cleaning the dishes up as her son sat drinking from his cup his juice
Torvil let out a short burst of air. "Surion... Do you remember when that girl gave you that flower? The little red one?"
Surion looked up from his glass "Fower? " he asked and then a moment later nodded
"Okay, good..." He said softly. "When a girl gives you a flower, that means she likes you..." He said softly.
Surion tipped his head to one side "Girl like Sur?"
Torvil nodded. "Yes, Girl like Sur..." He said softly. "But she like you... more than a friend... Like how mommy likes daddy... Well kinda like how mommy likes daddy, a bit less than mommy likes daddy..."
Surion stared at him his lips parted a little his face full of confusion about this
Torvil sighed and took a long breath. "In other words, she likes you a lot.."
"Uhhh Otay...." he said completely not understanding his father
Torvil sighed. "Never mind Surion..." He leaned back in his chair. 'I tried...'
Ala chuckled "Try again when he's ready"
Surion returned to his drink still watching his father
Torvil nodded and rubbed his temples. "Yeah... Will do..." He chuckled weakly.
Surion climbed down from his chair and then wandered out of the room he wanted to see his room, he moved slowly looking around constantly for danger as he walked
Torvil watched him go for a moment and sighed, looking to Ala.
Ala looked back at him "Ok now I know something is bothering you" Ala said after her son had disappeared into the hall towards the bedrooms
"I was thinking last night..." he said softly.
"What about it?" she asked not quite sure what he referred to
"I hate having to keep a secret from you..." He murmured softly. "But I don't want to put you at risk..." He closed his eyes and sighed.
Ala quirked a brow crossing her arms loosely
"The Hunt dear... The things I can't tell you about it... Its' driving me nuts..." He sighed weakly
Ala sighed "Somehow I'm not entirely surprised, there has been almost nothing we have not been able to share or tell each other"
Torvil nodded and sighed. "I'll tell you just one more thing... Something I can tell you..." He rubbed his temples. "There's a good chance... That Surion could get hurt on the hunt... or even... die..." He murmured softly.
"Torvil, as much as I know you are trying to spare me, I've already accepted that as a possible fact about this hunt, I also know however by the time he goes on that hunt his powers and abilities will either have manifested, or will begin to manifest, and if they do it is something that will by a good chance, help in that way if he gets hurt, just remember, there's really only two ways to easily kill a Kerrsalian, this..." she tapped her gem lightly "or this..." she drew a finger across her neck
Torvil nodded slowly and smiled. "I know love... I know..." he stood and moved over to her, pulling her into a hug and flicking at her gem having his finger bounce back. "And unless he goes up against a dragon, I doubt that shield will fail..." he murmured. "And don't worry, my job is to protect him should he... fall unconscious..."
Ala nodded and returned the hug "I'm glad you will be there" she said softly
Torvil nodded. "I am too, but it's my duty as his father to be there..." He murmured softly and kissed her cheek.
Ala nodded "I understand that" she said quietly wondering to herself his honest opinion of what she had asked him the night before
Torvil kissed her cheek and hugged her tight. "Now if I only knew someone who'd sponsor you we could get you set up too..."
Ala nodded and pulled away "I should go check on Surion" she said softly
Torvil kissed her cheek. "Here, I'll come too..." He said softly. trying to stay close.
Ala nodded and headed for the hall way listening for the sounds of her son, there were none "Interesting" she mused and sniffed following his scent. she pushed open her son's door and looked around, she didn't see him at first,,, then she did, or at least his tail... sticking out from the bottom of his pile of stuffed dragons
Torvil sighed and walked over, and slowly started to undo the pile of Dragons. "Surion?"
Surion was in fact asleep under the pile of dragons that was on his bed
Ala walked closer as well and had to chuckle softly at the scene when her son was unburied enough to see
Torvil chuckled too and smiled. "Should we let him sleep or?" He looked at Ala questioningly.
"Somehow I think he didn't sleep too well last night considering he usually doesn't move a lot at night and he went from clinging to you, to clinging to me, so lets leave him" she said quietly
Torvil nodded. "We should stay close though, lest he wake up alone and be more scared..." He sighed softly.
Ala nodded "Within earshot, perhaps the living room" she said heading for the door
Torvil nodded heading after her, letting out a light sigh but shaking his head. In time...
Ala waited till they got to the living room before turning and looking at him "Torvil, your honest thoughts... what do you think about it? about what I asked you that is"
"I think it's a wonderful idea..." He murmured softly. "But it will have to wait until i can get you a sponsor..." He murmured weakly.
Ala nodded " 'K " she said and wandered over to the couch sitting in it's middle and patting the couch beside her
Torvil smiled and walked over to her and hugged her tight. "I'll talk to the hunters about it when... we get there... I'm sure I can find you a sponsor... Hell Malkar will probably jump at the chance..."
Ala nodded "Even after I hit his father, that'd be ... interesting... " she mused and got out of his grasp only to lay down and put her head in his lap "That was an uncontrolled blast too, what I used in the under caves was more controlled" she murmured
Torvil nodded and brushed her hair. "Well remember love, he hated his father..." He chuckled softly. "And besides... I did bring him back from the dead..."
"And I brought you back from the brink of death too" she laughed"
Torvil chuckled softly. "See so I owe you one..." he softly ran a finger along her ear.
Ala purred softly "I'm just thinking, it would make for less stress here at home, if you didn't have to keep things from me" she said softly
Torvil nodded and kept softly running his finger along her ear, then into her hair, across her cheek. "Yeah..." He said softly.
"Not like I haven't fought before" she murmured
Torvil nodded and brushed her hair. "I don't like it when we fight..."
"Not you" she said opening her eyes to look up at him "I meant both Shazar, and the drow"
Torvil tapped his head. "Teach me to listen better neh?" He chuckled softly. "And that's true... But... No energy..." He tapped her nose.
Ala chuckled "Yeah Yeah I know"
Torvil chuckled softly and leaned down to give her a kiss, but stopped half way. "Gah... Can't bend any farther..."
Ala laughed and lifted up till she reached his lips and then kissed him softly
Torvil purred and held the kiss as long as he could, then slowly pulled away.
Ala looked up at him with a smile and lay down again
Torvil purred and went back to brushing her hair and letting his finger brush her skin. "This is nice..."
Ala nodded "Anything left at the other cave to get yet?" she asked softly
Torvil thought for a moment. "I think I got everything... Did you grab the claw from the storage unit?
"I thought you did" she frowned looking up at him
Torvil winced. "I thought you had..." He sighed. "Lets go get it... No wait... what if Surion wakes up..."
"I'll stay, you go" she said and sat up
Torvil sighed. "Okay... But I'll be back in as fast as I can..." He got up, kissed her and ran.
Ala nodded and lay back down closing her eyes by the time he returned she was once again laying on the couch but she had Surion atop of her
Torvil sighed softly but let it go, he put the claw in the new storage area, but walked over and sat in an open spot.
"Hey love" Ala said softly as she ran her fingers through Surion's hair
Surion looked up "Hi dada" he said smiling
Torvil smiled. "Hey Surion..." He reached out and brushed his hair, and then Ala's. "I see somebody woke up..."
Ala nodded "Yup a few minutes ago" she said sitting p and putting Surion down on the floor with his stuffed dragon
Torvil smiled and nodded, rolling his neck. He yawned softly and lay his head back.
Ala got up "Watch your son love, I'm going for a walk" she smiled softly and headed for the outside
Surion looked from his mother up to his father
Torvil nodded his head and bit back a sigh. "Okay darling..." he smiled at Surion.
Surion got up and walked over to his father and moved to climb up into his lap
Torvil smiled and looked down at him. "Hey..."
"Dada, Sur frow rock" he said sitting in his father's lap
Torvil brushed his hair. "I know..." He said softly. "That was very brave of you..." he said.
"Jakaf no get pounce" he said his tail moving side to side
Torvil smiled and brushed his cheek. "No, Jakath didn't get pounced, you saved his life, that was very noble of you... Did you like breakfast today Surion?"
Surion nodded "Nummy" he replied to his father's question
"Good... The meat was the Jaguar..." Torvil said.
Surion stared at his father becoming rather still at his father's words
"Yes Surion, you ate what hunted you..." He murmured brushing his cheek.
"Otay" he said quietly now playing with the end of his tail
Torvil brushed his cheek. "you see Surion, you won out against it..." He murmured. "You don't have to be afraid of it... it tired to eat you, and in the end... you ate it..."
Surion slowly nodded "Sur eatted" he said watching his father
Torvil smiled and patted his cheek with a nod.
"What Sur do now?" he asked not sure what to do next in his day
Torvil tapped his chin. "I don't know Sur, I really don't..."
"Otay" he said and climbed off his father's lap running towards where he had earlier found the bathroom
Torvil chuckled and let him go, taking this moment of silence to think.
Ala's Journal
Dear Diary
Well that wasn't what I expect to hear when I picked up my son, not at all... Least they are all safe, I would have hate for them not to have been. I thought about the hunting thing... it's really awkward to have something we cannot talk about. I was thinking of staying away from it all at first, but then maybe it's in my best interest to do it.... Guess we'll see, depends on if theres a sponsor... As for Surion, I think I've not seen something effect him so much before...
Torvil's Journal
Dear Journal,
I'm a very, very lucky father today. Surion and his cousin, along with two girls, I'll make the assumption they were the ones that gave Surion and his cousin the flowers... Were attack by Jaguar the other day. Thankfully neither of them were hurt, my father was there to save them, and Surion... My son is brave and noble, he attack the jaguar with rocks so that his cousin wouldn't be pounced. I am afraid however that he suffered some mental trauma, because now he looks for danger everywhere. But thankfully he's fine. Ala talked about joining the hunters... I hope she does... I'll look for a sponsor for her... I hope I can get one...
An Interesting and Semi-Eventful Day at the Cliffs
Torvil slowly pulled himself out of his thoughts and sighed softly, looking around to see if Surion had returned from the bathroom yet. He was starting to get a little hungry and was looking for a snack.
Surion hadn't in fact he still was in the bathroom playing with the water of the edge of the spring looking at the water
Torvil got up and moved in. "I'm gonna get a snack Surion, do you want to join me?"
Surion looked up from the water "Otay" he said and got up shaking his hand off and wandering towards his father
Torvil smiled and started to head for the kitchen opting for some Jerky. It was deer jerky, not jaguar jerky, that was still being made.
Surion climbed up into his chair kneeling and leaning against the table watching his father
Torvil smiled and handed him some of the jerky as he took a bite out of his piece. "So aside from nearly getting eaten, how have you enjoyed your stay here Surion?
Surion took the jerky and was munching on it when his father asked his question, he was silent "Sur have fun" he finally replied
Torvil nodded and smiled at him. "Daddy is glad then..." He murmured as he ate.
Surion giggled "Dada happy" he said pointing at his father with the jerky
Torvil smiled. "Yes, Dada happy..." He smiled softly and ate more of the Jerky. "I hope your mum gets back soon, we need to visit your grandmother..."
Surion nodded and looked towards the living room "Mama" he said
Was a few minutes more before Ala wandered into the cave
Torvil smiled when he saw her come in. He closed his eyes for a moment and just let her scent hit his nose. It calmed him and he opened his eyes again. "How was your walk"
"It was good, I just needed a few mins alone is all" she said moving closer to them
Torvil nodded and smiled. "I know the feeling love..." He said softly, standing up and moving to offer her the jerky bag
Ala smiled and pulled some out
Surion smiled softly and climbed from the chair and a moment later had his arms around his mothers legs "Mama back" he said clinging
Torvil smiled softly and nodded, taking out a another piece of jerky when Ala put the bag down. "Lets go visit mum.... Then... We can stop in and crash Melania's cave..."
Ala nodded and reached down "Come on Surion lets go see Gramma" she said offering him 'up'
Surion nodded "See Gamma, big Gamma" he said taking her invite and was soon sitting on her hip
Torvil chuckled. "I don't think gramma will be that big anymore Surion..." he chuckled, walking out of the cave slowly and heading for his mum's
Ala laughed "Yeah, Gramma will probably have little babies now"
Surion blinked "Gamma no big? Gamma have baby?"
Torvil chuckled. "Yes Surion, Gramma have lots of babies..." He smiled. "Probably more than four..." He said having remember his mother saying it was a rare day she had evens. And she'd never had less than 3.
Surion munched quietly on his jerky and nodded his eyes scanned the area as they left the cave he clung to his mom's arm
Torvil sighed and brushed his son's hair as he walked by. "Surion... There is nothing here to get you this high up... They always get caught at the ramp..." he murmured softly.
Surion looked at his father and slowly nodded "Otay" he said quietly
Ala sighed and shook her head following after her mate
Torvil brushed his cheek and slowly walked on, leading the way to Mitizimi's
Ala took a guess in her mind as to how many new sisters and brothers in law she'd have as they headed for their cave
Surion watched his father walk he thought his dad was brave
As they neared the cave Torvil smiled. "Looks like we're not the only one's here..."
"Somehow I'd be shocked if we were, what with the number of relatives you have" she laughed
Surion leaned to a side trying to look into the cave as they neared it
Torvil chuckled and there was a CROWD of people in front of Mitizimi's cave, many of them jostled for position till a brown haired very buff woman arrived. "Alright, move it!" She said, holding a spear in her hand and batting at people with the haft. Torvil motioned to Ala to file in behind her with a smirk.
Ala nodded and pulled Surion close against her staying right behind her mate
Torvil smiled and when they got in he chuckled. "Still as forceful as always Melania?" he smiled.
Melania turned and looked down at him. "Well hello Torvil, long time no see...."
Ala chuckled "guess this saves a trip" she mused stopping beside Torvil shifting Surion's position
Surion looked up at the lady with curious eyes his tail moved lazily below him
Melania smiled. "Yes, if you were intending to crash my cave..." She giggled and offered her hand to Ala. "Melania Rakamash... Tis a pleasure to meet you... Mrs. Rakamash?" She smiled softly and raised a brow.
Ala nodded taking the hand "Alatariel Rakamash, just call me Ala though, everyone does" she nodded her head to her son "And this is Surion, our youngest" she told her
Melania smiled and nodded her head. "Wow... My little brother has been busy if he's your youngest... Where are the other ones?" She smiled softly. "Aside from what I assume is your eldest..."
"Vina I'm sure you know, she's Torvil's eldest, and Torvin and Selene and their mates live in a Kazeha" she said
Melania smiled and nodded. "That's nice to know... Small family branch from you... tho Torvil I'm surprised.." She giggled and nodded her head. Torvil laughed weakly and bowed his head. "Lets just go visit mum..."
Ala sighed "That's not his fault" she mumbled and moved to head into the cave further
Melania's face faltered a little. "My apologizes, I didn't mean to offend..." She said softly bowing her head. "Torvil is... I have to say, my favored brother.."
"I've heard that, and you didn't offend me, we'd have more kids then we do, if I had been able to. Unfortunately, I'm am not Dragonic by birth, and my reproductive system is different then yours" she said quietly
Melania put her hand on Ala's shoulder. "It's alright, sometimes fate grants other easily things you want..." She smiled weakly and sighed. "I still am sorry, I didn't know..."
"It's ok, I don't exactly look as I did months ago, I certainly wouldn't have blended in here back then" she said looking up the light moving in the cave catching hers and Surion's gems sending reflections from them
Melania nodded and reached out slowly to touch Ala's gem, as if entranced. "No wonder..." She murmured, in awe. Then noted her brother's red reflected light and gasped.
"I'm Kerrsalian by birth, Dragonic by marriage... almost literally" she chuckled not worried about the woman's touch "Surion go find Gramma" she said and set her son down who slowly wandered off but found his grandfather before his grandmother
Korvil was sitting in the main room, having been screening people all morning to see Mitizimi and the children. He smiled when he saw his grandson. "And how is my Favorite Surion doing today?" He smiled.
"Gampa!" he said and latched onto his grandfather's leg giving his leg a tight hug
Korvil chuckled and leaned down, picking him up and heading into the room Mitizimi was in, she was surrounded by five small children, barely age two by the look of them.
Surion blinked "Gamma!" he said with a grin though his eyes were looking at the children rather then his grandmother
Mitizimi smiled. "Hello Surion, say hello to your Aunts, Mara, Tai, and Resia, and your uncles, Juok and Vrenal." She waved at him.
"Hihi" he said quietly opening and closing his fingers in a little wave before leaning against his grandfather
Korvil smiled and moved closer to Mitizimi. "Would you like to sit in Gramma's lap?" she asked quietly, the children were sleeping.
Surion nodded and leaned towards his grandmother reaching for her
Korvil smiled and put Surion down softly in her lap. Mitizimi smiled and kissed his forehead. "Hello Suri love..."
"Hihi Gamma" he said and cuddled against her, his tail curling into his lap contently
Mitizimi smiled softly. "Were are your mother and father Surion?" she asked softly.
"Mama Dada talk lady" he said quietly pointing out towards the main cave where he'd left his parents
Mitizimi smiled." That's nice..." She brushed his hair softly and giggled. "I'm going to miss you being this size..."
Surion looked up at her curiously at this statement "Gamma miss Sur?"
Mitizimi giggled. "When you grow up bigger, Gramma is going to miss being able to hold you like this..." She smiled and nuzzled his hair. "Surion might be, 'too old'..."
"Sur big boy" he said with a small pout, he already thought he was a big boy
Mitizimi giggled and poked his nose. "Yes, you are a big boy, but you'll grow into an even bigger big boy..."
"Otay Gamma" he said and cuddled against her listening to her hear and enjoying the scent she had
Ala took Torvil's hand as they spoke to his sister
Torvil put his other hand over hers and kept it there. "Shall we go see if Surion found mum?" "Oh! Yeah sure!" Melania smiled and nodded her head.
Ala laughed "Knowing him he probably has" she said with a nod and motioned with her free hand that they do
Torvil and Melania nodded and headed off towards where Surion had headed, Korvil smiled at them and motioned to the room behind him, making a quiet motion.
Ala mouthed 'thankyou' to her father in law and followed the two into the room
Korvil nodded his head with a smile. Torvil entered the room and smiled at his mother, who was holding Surion, the children were still sleeping. Melania smiled as well.
Ala couldn't help but smile it was a adorable scene
Surion waved "Mama, Dada, Lady" he said for his grandmother indicating it was who his parents had talked to
Mitizimi laughed softly. "Surion, that lady is your aunt Melania..." She kissed his forehead. Melania laughed softly, it was a light, magical sound. "That's cute..." She murmured. Torvil chuckled a little as well.
"Mel-melaee" he took a try at her name looking curiously up at the woman who towered over his parents
Melania giggled and walked over to Surion, opening her arms to him in a clear spot with none of his other aunts and uncles. "Mel-ani-a"
Surion looked up at his grandmother then crawled out of his lap and then into hers looking up at her
Melania smiled and sat down on the floor with him. "So Surion, what do you want to be when you grow up?" She asked him quietly.
"Big Sur" he said not entirely understanding her question in the matter
Ala sat on the edge of the bed watching and listening her tail in her lap
Melania giggled softly. "No Sur... What do you want to do for a living... like a job.. I'm a hunter..." She smiled and flexed a muscle.
Ala chuckled "He might not understand that concept yet" she said softly
Surion blinked "Melaee hunter!" he grinned and bounced lightly in her lap
Melania nodded slowly. "It's alright..." She blushed. "I'm just used to kids his age being well... older..." She giggled and then smiled. "Yes Surion, I'm a hunter..." She poked his nose.
Ala chuckled "Children his calendar age would be adults, he's three and a half months old"
"Sur big boy hunt" he said he knew he would go hunting one day as well
Melania blinked for a moment and looked at Ala wide eyed and then back at Surion. "Yeah..." She smiled suddenly her eyes flashing. "And I'm gonna be there..." she kissed his nose. " I hope it's soon..."
Surion giggled and gave her a kissy beck on her chin his tail moved side to side happily behind him brushing against Melania's leg
Melania giggled softly and nuzzled him. "You are sooo cute!" She smiled and purred looking up at Ala. "He's going to make a girl very happy one day, I just know it..."
Ala smiled "I believe he will too when he's the right age for that" she replied "Perhaps Torvil will be able to find someone for myself, and perhaps you'll be there for that too" she mused
Melania nodded slowly and thought. "I'll do it..." she smiled softly. "I would love to actually..." She giggled. "I think the, you can't guide your mate rule is stupid myself, but who better to guide you than your husband's older sister neh?
Ala laughed "I don't know all those rules, not much I really do know really"
Surion cuddled happily against his aunt getting used to her scent as well
Melania started to brush Surion's hair. "There's not that many, but... yeah... We hunters keep things very secret... we have our reasons... There are things... That we can't talk about because we can't... When you do your hunt you'll see..." She smiled and nodded her head. "I promise I won't make you wait forever..."
Ala chuckled "I'm a fairly patient woman" she said her eyes shifted color and she played with a small ball of water in her hands as she watched her son become rather comfortable in the lap which he sat
Melania watched in awe, her face brightening. "Visha, what can't you do..."
"Hmm?" she quirked a brow "What do you mean?"
She pointed at the color of her eyes.
"Oh that has to do with my abilities" she said with a laugh and turned her hand palm up where the ball of water hovered shortly above her hand
Surion giggled and watched his mother he liked water, this was something he liked watching her do
Melania stared and gasped softly. "Wow..." She smiled softly and stroked Surion's hair more. "That's amazing..."
"Nah, that's simple" she told her and turned her other hand over "This is trickier" she said creating both water and energy and after a moment brought the two together in closed hands and there was a small flash of light before she opened her hands again
Melania stared at the gem that had been created. "OMVisha..." She squealed softly. "That thing must be worth...worth... a fortune!"
"So I've heard, It's called a Water Crystal" she said tossing the gem to Melania "Consider it a thankyou, an addition to your hoarde"
Melania giggled happily and put it on a pouch on her belt, her eyes seemed to glow brightly when she looked at the gem, and she pawed at it before putting it away.
Ala chuckled lightly amused about it, the dragonic's reaction to those was in her mind never failing to amuse her
Surion giggled and poked the stone before Melania put it away "Shinee"
Melania blushed and smiled down at Surion. "Yes... A Shiny..." She giggled and kissed his head. Torvil smiled too.
Ala chuckled "There's lots about me that's different then what you are likely used to" she said with a nod glancing at her mother in law too
Mitizimi was smiling, but for a slightly differing reason, the kids had woken, and she was feeding them. Torvil smiled and nodded his head. Melania nodded. "You got that right..."
"I guess an example is this" she lifted her tail a lil then set it down "Surion was born with his, I also heal in a much different way then your healers do as well"
Surion's attention was now drawn to the children half crawling out of Melania's lap
Melania nodded. "Yeah..." She sighed. "Save a few mom knows, and some of the upper priests, most use herbs..." She rubbed her neck. "Mom said I have the spark, but I didn't believe her, sides, I'd rather hunt..." She smiled softly.
"I use this" Ala pointed to her gem" she said "don't use herbs almost at all, I think there's only been a couple times I've used herbs... and Torvil gave those to me" she mused
Torvil nodded and looked at his mother with a soft smile. Mitizimi smiled softly and touched Ala's arm. "You should talk to Ryokusen, Ala... He could probably use your help..." She smiled softly. Melania stared at her mother. "Mom... Ryokusen is the high priest of Visha..."
"The priest who replaced the one who got beaten up a while back?" she asked curiously
Surion crawled completely out of Melania's lap and was leaning close to one of his uncles poking at his nose
The little child sniffed at Surion's finger... Then bit. "Yes..." She smiled softly with a nod. "He's... Gifted you could say... I didn't discover that some of our Healers are gifted in this way until he became the High priest." Melania nodded her head slowly.
"That's cause he actually listened to Visha, and not trying to go on some stupid power trip" she said
Mitizimi giggled. "Yes... he has... and it's granted him... things... You should talk to him..." She smiled and watched her child bite Surion. "Jouk be nice!"
Surion tried pulling his finger awa "Le-go!" he exclaimed his own sharp teeth showing as well
"And to think the other guy tried to get me to give Surion up just cause of a blanket" Ala grumbled
Mitizimi shook her head. "Yeah..." she sighed and sat up more, groaning as she slowly reached for Jouk, unhinging his jaw and pulling him away from Surion, she flicked him on the nose. "No Juok! Bad!"
Surion pulled his hand to himself and scooted backwards away from the kids a frown on his face
Mitizimi looked at Surion and sighed. "He was just curious Surion, baby explore with their mouths... He wanted to see what was poking him in the nose.
"Sur not want owie" he whimpered keeping his hands against his chest his tail wrapped around his side and into his lap
Ala sighed and shook her head
Mitizimi sighed as well. "Surion, he didn't mean to give you an owie... He just..." She sighed and started to feed Juok again who had started to fuss. "He didn't mean to hurt you Surion... He's just a baby..."
Surion nodded slowly and watched her feed the infant, he looked down at his finger and then put it in his mouth sucking lightly at the tiny piercing the infant had made before looking back to his aunt Melania
Melania smiled softly at him. "Yeah, they can be a pain when they're little, I like em a little bigger..." "You also seem unable to like a male if he so much as pampers you..." Mitizimi sighed. "So when are you going to tell me I'm never going to get grandkids from you..." She sighed heavily. "Mom that's not entirely fair..." Torvil defended his sister.
Ala stayed out of this one completely, her kids hadn't even met their grandmother till they were adults.
Melania sighed and lowered her head. "I... I should go..." She got up quickly, giving Surion a peck on the head, and rushed out of the room. Torvil sighed and rubbed his temples. Mitizimi sighed and closed her eyes. "Every, single, time..."
Ala got up and followed after Melania leaving her Mate to visit his mother "Hey are you ok?" she asked running after her
Melania shook and shook her head. "No..." She sniffled, tears were running down her cheeks, as she left the cave, people making way.
Ala sighed she wasn't as good at pushing her way through people she unfurled her wings and instead of moving through the people she went over them landing lightly on the other side
Melania made a b-line for the path away from the cave, shaking softly and wiping her eyes.
Ala saw her, like walking with her mother in law she couldn't keep up on foot, she took up after her "Hey stop, I don't have long legs like you" she said softly her wings keeping her level with the woman although causing quite a breeze
Melania slowed to a stop and sniffled, wiping her eyes more, still shaking, it was obvious she was very, very upset about the subject.
Ala landed "It's ok, everyone chooses her own lifestyle, they chose a mate when they are ready. I know, the same was how it was for me" she said putting her hand softly on her arm
Melania sniffled. "She just doesn't understand... I don't want to be pampered... I want my mate to see me as an equal, if I get something, I want it because I earned it..." She rubbed her eyes. "I don't want a gift..."
"And that's your right... to chose that even if they don't like that" she said softly "You shouldn't feel like you have to run from that fact"
Melania sighed and looked at her feet. "I... I can't face mom when she gets like that... She was disappointed when I turned down the flower from Calas..." She moved over to a rock cropping and sat down, wrapping her arms around her knees. "But I didn't like him..."
Ala nodded "I understand that" she said and sat down pulling her wings close to her "You have the right to pick your mate, as much as the males have he right to pick theirs. I harbored feelings for a long time about my mate cause he was with another before" she said
Melania stared at Ala. "Torvil had a mate... Before you? But wait... how did.. how did he?" She wiped the tears form her eyes.
Ala nodded "I'm not Vina's mother by birth, it's why she doesn't have a gem like I do and like Surion and the twins do" she explained "When I met him he already had a mate, but that fell apart..."
Melania stared. "But... How did he break the life bond..." She murmured. "We mate for life..."
"That one I do not know, but he did..." she said softly "This one would be harder to break though... it's sealed by my people, Rhazar witnessed it"
Melania nodded and sighed. "I doubt he would want to, he seemed to be happy.
"He seems to be, and I'm glad he is too, I've had 3 wonderful children with him, and over time I became very much like him, he's had a huge impact on my life" she told her
Melania smiled and nodded. "He's special like that... I used to hate him... Till he..." She bit her lip and shook her head. "Nothing..."
"Till after his hunt, I know that much and that's it" she said softly "I only really learned about your being yesterday"
Melania nodded slowly and sighed. "Yeah... Lets just say that... yeah... He more than proved himself in my eyes.."
Ala nodded "I suppose that's part of why I decided to ask him about hunting. It's hard to not be able to talk to your mate about things"
Melania nodded. "We have our reasons..." She sighed softly and rubbed her temples.
"I understand that, it's why I don't press for info" she said softly
Melania nodded. "Soon you'll know..." She said softly. "I'll try to make sure we get your hunt scheduled quickly.
Ala nodded "Whenever is appropriate, we're here till after Surion's hunt, I'm not entirely sure how long from now that will be"
Melania nodded and rolled her head. "It'll be after his hunt... It's only proper..."
"If we aren't here, just tell Vina or Mom, she'll get a message to us" she said with a nod
Melania nodded. "No problem..." She smiled softly.
"You ok now?" she asked softly looking up at her sister in law
Melania nodded slowly and stood. "Yeah... I guess..."
"I know your mom likes the idea of you finding a mate... and giving her more grandchildren... but just remember that's your choice, and your right" she said softly standing up on the outcropping
Melania nodded and sighed. "Yeah, I know..." she offered her hand to Ala again.
Ala took her hand with a soft squeeze her wings rustling loosely behind her. She smiled at Melania
Melania smiled and then pulled Ala into a tight hug.
Ala returned the hug glad for the height the rock gave her
"Shall we head back then?"
Ala nodded "We shall, and I can either walk... and you walk slower or I can fly" she said with a laugh
Melania giggled. "I'll walk slow..." She smiled and started to do just that.
Ala nodded and glided off the rock and then folded her wings in and walked alongside Melania
Melania smiled. "My brother is a lucky man..." She smiled softly.
Ala looked up at her "Oh?" she asked curiously
"You're a very nice woman Ala..." She giggled and looked down at her. "I wonder if Torvil would mind if I stole you..."
"Stole me???" Ala quirked a brow "uhhh"
Melania giggled softly and patted her shoulder. "I'm kidding... I grew out of that stage a looong time ago..."
Ala chuckled "Still have lots to get used to here around here" she mused as they neared the cave again
Melania giggled and brushed Ala's hair. "Should have seen me two years ago..." She murmured with a smirk.
"Two years ago I wouldn't have even ever admitted I was anything besides a human, Torvil was the first person I ever revealed my abilities to. When I healed his ankle after a fight" she said
Melania's eyes went wide again. "What the bloody hell has my brother been doing while he was away!"
"Uhm raising a Pae'il teaching him how to battle, that Pae is now an Elder of their kind, so is mine, it's actually how I met him" she said "Then helping me run a shop, that's where I told him my feelings... having more kids... I don't know much before all that"
Melania nodded slowly. "I see..." She sighed and looked out towards the cliff's edge. "I don't think... I could leave the cliffs... Merisime did... But she's... a bit odd in the head..."
"I've met her, she cares for one of the creatures we find homes for" she said with a nod
Melania nodded. "That's nice..." She said softly. "I'm sure there's a lot out there... But my place is here." A moment later she froze, and stood stock still as the High Priest of Visha, Ryokusen, walked out of the cave in front of them.
Ala had been looking at Melania when she stopped. confused and curious she looked to see what Melania was looking at "Oh hello there" she said
Ryokusen bowed to them both. "It's a pleasure to meet you again... Ms. Rakamash was it?" He asked, his eyes questing. His attention suddenly turned to Melania. "Ah, Melania, how are you today?"
"F-f-fine!" She squeaked, suddenly turning a bright red.
"Yeah we're both ms Rakamashs" she chuckled and looked up at her sister in law and couldn't help but smile at what she saw
Ryokusen smiled. "Ah! That you are..." He smiled and bowed his head again. "Melania... I was wondering, if you have time later today, I would like to talk to you... your sister is more than welcomed to join us, in fact, if what I have heard of her are true, She might be interested in this..."
Melania nodded slowly, her blush creeping from her face to her neck. "S-s-sure..." She stammered out.
"And what have you heard about me" she chuckled nudged Melania's side
Melania glared at her for a moment. "I've heard that you can heal with a touch..." Ryokusen said softly with a smile.
"Aye, I can...." she looked up at Melania and smiled a knowing smile
Melania's eyes softened a little, but she mouthed. ‘not a word'!
"Good... do you have some free time later today?" He asked. "Melania is the one I really must talk to, but I would be delighted if you would join us..."
Ala nodded "Sure why not" she said with a smile, she didn't intend to say a word... least not while he was there
Melania nodded slowly and took a moment. "I think I have some time this afternoon..." She said slowly. "Good! It's settled then!" Ryokusen smiled and bowed his head. "Come by the temple when you have time... I shall be waiting..." And with that, he left.
Ala waved "The temple with the pool" she chuckled and started walking again
Melania started to walk again slowly, not saying a word.
"You like him don't you" she said quietly when they were once again alone
Melania sighed and nodded slowly. "Yeah..." She murmured softly. "But I don't think it's mutual... Sides, he's the High priest of Visha, I'm just a hunter..."
"I don't care if he's the high priest and you are a cleaning lady, love is love... and you never know if one reciprocates it unless you ask" she said
Melania blushed hotly. "A-a-ask him!?" She squeaked and bit her lip. "I think I'm to nervous... What if he doesn't feel the same..."
"Then you know and you aren't dreaming for the rest of your life, and I know that's a long life, Melania... I'm the one who told Torvil first I had feelings for him if I hadn't he wouldn't have told me his feeling for me" she said softly
Melania bit her lip. "I'll... I'll think about it..." She murmured. "There's a time and a place for that..." She said weakly.
"There is, but just remember if you don't tell him, you'll always be awkward around him" she said softly
Melania bit her lip. "Do... Do you think he noticed?" She asked weakly.
"He might have, you were stammering a lot, and you were rather brightly blushing, it's how I noticed" she said
Melania bit her lip and muttered darkly about her own inability to control her emotions. When she got back to her mother's cave the area was empty and Korvil was standing at the door.
Ala sighed softly "Hey Korvil" she said seeing him
An Interesting and Semi-Eventful Day at the Cliffs ~ cont.
Korvil smiled. "Good. Lunch is ready, your husband and son are already starting..." he smiled. "Melania, you're welcome to join us daughter..."
Ala nodded and wandered into the cave "Thanks" she said
Korvil nodded and walked in with her. Melania followed, albeit with a bit of thought.
Ala headed into the kitchen "Heya" she said
Torvil smiled and looked up. "Hey love..." He had a steak of jaguar on his plate, about 2/3 of it left. Melania went into the staging area to get some herself.
Ala ruffled her son's hair
Surion giggled and looked up his mouth full and waved at her
Torvil smiled at his sister. "It's good to see you back here..."
"Ala's good like that..." She said softly.
Ala chuckled grabbing some meat for herself and joining her mate and son in eating
Surion waved at Melania as well
Melania smiled and waved at Surion. "I'm going to steal Ala a little bit this after noon... Ryokusen wants to talk to us..." She smiled softly, blushing. Torvil's brow went up and he looked at Ala.
Ala shrugged "He said he has something to say that might interest me since I can heal with a touch"
Torvil nodded slowly but nudged his head more at his blushing sister. ‘What I think?' he mouthed. Melania was looking at her meat with a blush.
Ala nodded without saying a word
Surion looked at his aunt "Melaeee red"
Melania blushed more and started to eat her meat quickly. Torvil bit his lip to keep from laughing.
Surion stared at her holding some meat to his mouth chewing at it
Melania looked up. "What? I'm... just... hot..." She murmured, fanning herself and reaching for something to drink.
"Dada red mama wear pretties" he said innocently
Melania bit her lip. "How... Interesting..." She murmured softly and looked down at her meat.
Torvil chuckled. "Yes Surion, that's right... That's because when mama wears pretties it's hard for dada to think straight, thankfully she's not used this for evil..."
Ala snorted and laughed "Maybe I should" she wiggled her brows at her mate
Surion giggled
Torvil chuckled softly. "That would be very fun of you..." Melania was just blushing even more.
"Yeah let the dragon loose" she chuckled and moved back to eating
Surion was still staring at his aunt curiously
Melania looked at Surion and smiled softly. "Melania red same reason your father does..." She bit her lip.
Surion giggled and bounced in his seat "Melaee red, melaee red, like dada!"
Melania blushed more. "Do you think we can go after lunch Ala?" She asked softly. Torvil chuckled softly and ate, having just been growling playfully at Ala.
"Fine by me" Ala said with a chuckled taking her eyes off Torvil "You take care of Surion love?" she looked back
Surion innocently kept chanting his little chant not knowing anything besides the fact it made his aunt a pretty red
Torvil chuckled. "Sure..." He smiled. He laughed softly at his son's antics which was only making Melania blush more.
Ala smiled and continued to eat
Melania was soon finished and she stood, wandering off and coming back with a large glass of juice and downing it.
Ala kissed her son and mate and got up ready to head out
Surion giggled "byebye mama"
Melania smiled. "Bye you two!" Torvil chuckled. "Bye Ala-luv, by Melania, have a present meeting..."
Ala waved and wandered out of the kitchen heading for the cave entrance once more
Surion smiled he was still eating "Gwroar" he said looking down at it
Torvil chuckled softly. "That's it my son, eat the eater!" Melania smiled and headed out of the cave..
Ala chuckled softly hearing the words as she left the cave
Surion giggled "gwroaroaroar" he said and took a big bite, one that was probably even too big for him
Torvil chuckled softly and watched him to make sure he didn't choke. Melania looked at Ala with questioning eyes.
Ala quirked a brow "What's up?" she asked seeing the eyes
Surion chewed for a long time before he swallowed, after a moment he reached for his cup with two hands and drank from it
Torvil smiled softly and kept and eye on him still. "What's up with Torvil and the Jaguar meat with Surion?" she asked.
"Jakath led Surion and two girls down the ramp yesterday, that's the meat from the Jaguar that chased them back up it and was killed by Korvil" she said quietly
Melania nodded slowly. "Ah I see..." She murmured. "Jaguars are such nasty creatures..." She murmured softly. "I'm glad Korvil got it..." She smiled. "And it's good to see that no one was killed... no funerals..." She smiled softly, heading for the temple.
"It almost got Jakath, Surion threw some rocks at it from what I hear" she said and headed in the direction of the temple
Melania smiled more. "Wow... That was brave of the little guy, I have no worries about his hunt now, he'll do great!" She smiled, heading for the temple at a slow enough walk that Ala could walk and not fly, more out of ‘conserderation' than fear.
Ala chuckled "guess you'll see when the time comes" she said keeping up a quick pace , when they neared the temple Ala slowed for a moment touching the symbol on the wall with a smile before continuing
Melania again raised a brow. "I've always wondered why that's there?" The Symbol was warm, a good luck vibe.
"It's Visha's" she said with a smile as she continued
Melania smiled and nodded. "Ah..." She purred softly and nodded slowly entering the temple, and then freezing, face going beet red. In the pond, stood Ryokusen, with no shirt, he looked to be fixing something, and he was sweating up a storm.
Ala walked over to the pool not saying anything "Whatcha trying to fix?" she asked
"One of the cracks got wider..." He said softly. "I could use an extra set of hands... The cement I'm using isn't setting right... too much water..." He sighed.
"I-I'll help!" Melania stuttered, getting into the water too, and noting he was trying to move the fountain over a little to avoid the crack,
Ala chuckled and looked at the water, in a moment her eyes were green and she pushed the water a bit to get it out of the way
Ryokusen smiled and nodded at her. "Thanks..." He said as he and Melania moved the fountain, then they both started to add the cement, once it was in and set Ryokusen motioned for her to add the water again. "Thanks, that helped a lot... Lets head to my office." He got out of the water and dried off, slipping back on his shirt.
Melania just watched him, and she unconsciously licked her lips.
Ala chuckled and let go her eyes returning to normal 'tell him' she mouthed
Melania bit her lip. ‘wait... Tell him I'll be right with you...' She mouthed and darted out. Ryokusen turned around slowly. "Mph? Where did Melania go?"
"She'll be here in a moment" she said "Least I imagine" she shrugged
Ryokusen sighed and rubbed his temples. "Alright... well I'm sure it's important..." He stopped talking as she came back in. His eyes were wide.
Melania had one of the small red flowers in her hand. She walked up to him and slowly reached up taking one of them and putting it in his hand.
Ryokusen looked at it a moment, then at her.
Ala took a few steps back giving them a little space
Melania bit her lip and started to turn away.
Ryokusen grabbed her wrist with his free hand, and pulled her back to him. He took the red flower, and put it in her hair. Then he pulled her into a kiss.
Ala grinned she was glad for this happening. she sat on a nearby ledge and waited
They slowly pulled back and Melania smiled and blushed hotly. Ryokusen softly brushed her cheek. "Thank you..." He murmured softly. "I've been waiting..." he said softly. "Now lets go, we can talk of this more later... Love..."
Melania smiled softly and nodded still holding his hand as they headed for his office. "Hurry up Ala!"
Ala got up and hurried after them holding back her chuckled
They entered Ryokusen's office and he sat down with a smile. "Now down to business..." he chuckled softly. Melania nodded weakly with a blush.
Ala sat down and crossed her legs on the char she sat on since it was a bit too tall to sit the normal way
Ryokusen nodded slowly. "Well to start... Melania... I wanted to talk to you... about your ability..." He said softly. Melania's eyes went wide." How do you know about that!" She asked suddenly sitting up straight. "The Grand hunter told me... You're touched by Visha Melania... you have the spark... You could be a great Healer..."
Ala looked over at Melania a look of curiosity on her face
Melania bit her lip. "But... But..." She sighed and closed her eyes. "Fine..." She murmured.
Ryokusen sighed. "You don't have to if you don't want to Melania I'm not going to force you..." Melania smiled weakly. "Well I kind of want to know what the Healers do..." She said softly and leaned forwards.
Ala listened with interest, she was kinda curious that fact herself
Ryokusen smiled and there was a soft shimmer and then suddenly.... Well Ryokusen was robbed in white now, and he stood. "This... Is what we do..." He smiled.
Melania stared in awe. "You mean... The Healer?"
Ala chuckled, she remembered wearing a white dress once, she'd only ever worn it once as well
Ryokusen nodded. "Yes... The Healer... Just as you do The Totem..." He said.
Melania bit her lip. "Ala is not a hunter Ryokusen..." She said softly. "Please don't... talk about that..."
Ala ignored the comments about the hunters, she knew that was not for her to know... yet
Ryokusen sighed. "Alright... But anyway..." He said softly. "You have the spark... I would like to train you..."
Melania bit her lip. "I don't think I would learn much that way..." She giggled weakly.
Ala chuckled "sounds like something that would be of help to you Melania"
Melania blushed. "Oh alright... I'll do it... But only if you teach me..." She murmured looking at Ryokusen.
"Of course I will..." He smiled and sat back down, returning to normal. He smiled at her softly and you could tell that he was happy she had told him.
Ala smiled "So you said this might interest me, was there something that affects me?
Ryokusen smiled softly. "Yes... I'm not sure how much the similarities between the healer and you Kerrsalians are... But Visha asked me to ask you to train some of the not so focused ones..." He nodded his head. "She said you could, or you would know someone who could..."
"I'm not sure exactly how I would train them, I suppose either yourself or Visha could tell me that one" she mused
Ryokusen smiled softly. "Is there any special training required in the Kerrsalian healing techniques or... is it all body?
"The gem channels our energy towards healing, the biggest 'training' that it has is learning to control it and knowing when to stop before you use all your own energy up and pass out" she told him
"Can you teach that?" he asked softly. "The Healer form is slightly similar, though we use a bond to Visha, but it does drain us..."
"I might be able to, I'm not sure, I know I'll have to train Surion when his time comes" she said with a nod
He smiled. "Thank you... We've lost two already, I'd hate to lose anymore..." He said softly.
"I know the first time I used my ability here I made a healer pass out and then get himself rather.... drunk...." she mused
"He's... not one of the gifted... Not many know of our presence... I wish we could tell them but until we've got enough properly trained..." He sighed. "And by lost, two of our trainees... Didn't stop... and died..."
Ala sighed "Well that's one big difference, a Kerrsalian will pass out and stop giving energy before he or she will die, there's not many ways to easily kill one of us"
He nodded. "But you can train them to know when to stop... right... Visha wouldn't have pointed me to you if she didn't know you could help..."
"Visha knows a lot, I'll give her that, I can try... but I can't guarantee that I'm going to be able to teach how to stop something that may or may not be the same" she said
He nodded. "I'm sure she'll help you too..."
Melania smiled at her sister in law. "If Visha pointed to you.." She shrugged. "I wouldn't argue with her..."
"No I probably wouldn't either, I've seen her anger.. and her compassion too" she said softly
Melania smiled softly. "You are a very lucky person Ala..." She said softly. "I've only seen her..." She sighed. "I can't say..."
"One day Melania... one day" she said and smiled softly
Melania nodded. "Yeah... And quickly too cause damn it's hard to keep secrets from you... I can see why Torvil's having a fit..."
Ala laughed "Especially since he's trying not to tell me things that worry him regarding our son's turn"
Melania nodded. "Aye..." She said softly with a nod. "I'm sure he's told you all he's been able, and probably a little more..." She smiled weakly.
"No he stops himself, and I don't push for it, I understand it, even my twin has things she can't tell me as a Kerrsalian Wisen Apprentice" she said
Melania nodded and sighed. "I wish things were different... But yeah..."
"There are things we cannot tell the people as well... Like Visha's a brat sometimes..." He chuckled.
Ala laughed "She's also a very compassionate woman, and funny... and my son is absolutely crazy over the blanket he has"
Ryokusen laughed, "Aye, she is all those things too..." he smiled and nodded.
Melania smiled softly. "Is that all for business then?" She asked. "Aye, I do believe it is..."
Ala smiled "I think this is where I exit stage left and leave you two to get to know each other better" she winked standing up
Melania smiled. "Thank you Ala... I couldn't have done this without your prodding..." She giggled. "But please... My house is only a few down from my mothers... Do feel free to stop by anytime..."
Ryokusen smiled. "The temple is my home, you are always welcome here..."
Ala nodded and left them to be outside the temple she unfurled her wings and flew back Mitizimi's cave
Torvil was busy with Surion, teaching him to count properly.
"Two three seven" he said with a grin pointing at the items his father used
Ala smiled and folded her wings walking in "Hello I back"
"Hi love... No Surion.... One, Two, Three..." He pointed at the items in their piles.
"One Two .... Free" he repeated preoccupied with his learning
Ala chuckled and went in search of her mother in law
Mitizimi was in her room, trying to keep the now very energetic... talking children under control.
Ala chuckled seeing the group "Looks like you have a handful" she said peeking her head in the door
"Like you wouldn't believe, but don't worry I've handled worse..." She smiled softly, tho she was moving a bit slow.
"Are you ok? you been moving pretty sore like since I first saw you today" Ala said entering and walking closer
"I'm sore... This is... Well... one of many batches of children... I'll be sore for a week or so and be fine..." She sighed.
Ala walked up to her and knelt "I think I could probably help you there" she said with a soft smile
Mitizimi smiled weakly and reached out to brush her cheek. "You're an absolute dear you know that..."
"I don't like seeing people in pain, it's how I really got to know your son more" she said "Helped heal him" she reached a hand and put it on her mother in laws side watching Mitizimi's face as her gem started to glow
Mitizimi let out a soft gasp and shivered. "Thank you Ala..." She smiled. "You're like one of the gifted..."
Ala pulled away when she was done "This is part of who I am, part of what my people do, that's all" she said "But I thought you might be interested to know something"
Mitizimi tilted her head. "Oh?" she asked.
"Yes... Your daughter is sitting with a male right now... and she has a lovely red flower in her hair" she grinned
Mitizimi smiled brightly and her eyes just lit up. "Oh my..." She smiled, putting a hand to her chest. "I thought this day would never come..."
Ala chuckled "She had someone she liked, was just afraid to tell him because of who he is" she said softly
Mitizimi tilted her head, her eyes full of questions.
"The High Priest... Ryokusen" she said with a soft smile
Mitizimi's eyes went wide. "Oh my... I thought... He never..." She bit her lip. "Oh my..."
Ala laughed "Turns out he was hoping she'd say something though"
Mitizimi laughed softly. "A strange man... A strange man... But wise... and strong... He'll do find with her..."
Ala chuckled "Ok I'm going to leave you with your clutch and haul my own kid and mat homewards.. you be relaxed" she said and stood up to head for the door
Mitizimi smiled. "I will be... Thank you Ala... Have a good stay
Ala smiled and headed out the door
"One Two..." Surion was now just playing getting bored of counting
Torvil smiled and ruffled his hair. "Looks like it's go time Sur..." He smiled.
"Yep, bed time for little dragons" she said with a chuckle
"Noooo, no go" Surion pouted holding his counting items in his hands
Torvil chuckled. "If Sur go bed Sur get treat...." He smiled Standing and moving to pick him up.
"Otay dada" Surion relented and reached up to be lifted up
Torvil smiled and picked him up, moving over to Ala to kiss her cheek, then headed out of the cave towards home.
"Kissing.... bet that's what Melania is doing right about now... and quite likely more" she mused
Torvil laughed softly. "Made her move did she?" He asked softly with a smile.
Ala laughed "Yes, gave him a red flower, which he proceeded to put into her hair"
Surion blinked "Fower" he repeated his eyes looking around the area
Torvil smiled. "I expect a wedding soon..." He smiled, and brushed Surion's hair. "Nothign here but us Sur..."
Ala nodded "It wouldn't shock me at all" she said
Surion nodded slowly and cuddled close to his father
Torvil smiled and walked into their cave, heading for Surion's room to put him to bed. "Yeah..."
"Sur sleep wif dragons?" he asked looking up at his father
Torvil smiled. "Yes, Surion sleep with dragons..." He said, laying his son on his pallet and moving the dragons over.
Surion pulled each and every one of them closer to himself so he was nearly hidden in the middle of them and hugged one of them tightly in his arms
Torvil kissed the top of his head. "Have a good sleep Surion... You‘re safe, mommy and daddy are just down the hall... Just shout if you're scared..." He got up and headed to go to bed himself. He was tired.
Surion nodded "Otay dada" he said burying himself deeper against the dragons as his father left
Ala waited outside the door for Torvil with a smile
Torvil smiled and yawned. "Bed..." He chuckled softly. "I spent most of last night thinking..."
"Thinking about Surion's hunt?" she asked looping her arm into his
Torvil bit his lip. "Thinkiing about you hunting... and Surion's hunt... and lots of stuff..." He murmured, kissing her cheek as he headed for the pallet.
"About me hunting huh, is that bad?" she asked and crawled into the pallet after him
Torvil looked her in the eyes for a moment. "No..." He said softly. Kissing her before closing his eyes and hugging her close. "Then I can give you a name to call me that only you and Surion can..." He said softly.
Ala quirked a brow but said nothing she wasn't going to ask
Torvil smiled and kissed her nose. "You'll see... Goodnight my love..." He murmured, closing his eyes and falling asleep.
Ala nodded and curled up cuddling close to him as she to went to sleep
Ala's Journal
Dear Diary
Well... That was intersting to say the least. I didn't expect to be asked to teach the dragonic healers how to control their abilities, thing is are they really like my own abilities?Will I be able to help? I guess only time will tell that one...
Torvil's Journal
Dear Journal,
Quite the interesting time here so far... There's a lot on my mind... and I'm not sure how well certain things are going to go... I'm... I'm sensing something grim on the horizon... I don't know what it is... I just have this feeling... That... Something bad's going to happen here... I'll keep these feelings tucked away deep down for now... No need to upset Ala...
Ala moved around the cave, she was in a 'blah' mood, she wanted a babysitter but Tinania wasn't anywhere near them, so the question was... who
Torvil brushed his hair and grumbled. "OH!" He smacked his head into the wall. "Bah!" He ran to Ala. "I know somebody we can use!"
Ala looked up "Who, besides your mom, she's got enough of a handful of her own"
"Mikiri, and Jakath... I heard he grew just yesterday..." He said softly. "Her kids are kinda puttering around outside of the cave, visiting others tonight she said, except Jakath, he doesn't want to leave the house..."
"Mikiri, well I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask, everyone else we know is busy with things" she said with a nod looking towards her son surrounded by his stuffed dragons playing with them
Torvil nodded. "You want me to go ask her?" He said softly. "I could run quick and come back..."
Ala nodded "Probably a good plan to ask before telling Surion anyways, case she can't"
Torvil nodded and kissed her cheek before running out of the house.
Ala smiled and moved closer to Surion dropping onto an armchair to wait for the results
Torvil came back a bit later, with a smile. "We have green..."
"Thankyou Visha" Ala said with a sigh "I love our son, but I need a break for a night" she said with a soft smile
Torvil nodded. "I hear you love..." He smiled softly and moved over to Surion. "Hey Sur, wanna spend the night a Jakath's?"
Surion looked up at his dad "Jakaf? Otay" he said with a grin "Jakaf fun now he play 'gain"
Torvil chuckled and knelt down, picking him up. "Yeah..." He kissed his son's forehead and started to gather some of his stuff in one hand.
Surion only held onto one dragon with his hands as he was picked up.
Torvil smiled and grabbed a change of clothes for him and that was that. He waved at Ala with them when he headed for the door. "Comin?"
Ala laughed and got up "Course I am" she said and hurried after her males
Surion bounced in his father's Arms "Jakaf Jakaf Jakaf Sur play wif Jakaf!"
Torvil chuckled and started to head towards Mikiri's house quickly, wanting Surion to get out of their hair quickly.
Ala hurried after him, even though they were nearly the same height her mate could still move a fair bit faster then her
Surion glanced around a couple times then watched where they were going holding his toy tightly in his hands
Torvil entered Mikiri's Cave. "We're here!" He called.
Mikiri looked up from her weaving. The recently grown child, Jakath sat on the couch, brushing the fur.
Surion's eyes looked around for his cousin and friend only to land on his his smile slipped as he stared
Ala smiled "Hi Mikiri and Jakath" she greeted the pair
"Hi Ala!" Mikiri smiled.
"Hi Aunt Ala..." Jakath replied smiling at Surion a little.
Torvil chuckled and put Surion down.
Surion didn't move still clutching the dragon by it's neck staring at Jakath
Ala smiled "Thankyou Mikiri, I'm sure you know just how nice it is to have an evening alone with your mate"
Mikiri smiled. "Yeah... I know..." She murmured and waved at them. "Now go, Shoo! your nights a wasting!"
Torvil chuckled and grabbed Ala's arm, pulling her out of the cave after he dropped off Surion's stuff.
Jakath got up and started to walk over to Surion
Ala waved as her body disappeared out of sight
Surion watched his parents go for a moment then turned around again and noticed he was being approached, he looked up at his cousin biting his lip with his sharp teeth
Jakath, who was not almost more than a head taller than Surion, knelt down so he could look him in the eyes. "Hey..." He murmured softly. "Want to go play?"
"Otay" Surion said quietly looking near tears for the fact his play friend was no longer the same as he was
Jakath sighed and the first thing he did was give Surion a big hug. "I'm sorry Surion..." he said softly into his cousin's ear. "We can still play tho, I promise I'm not that much different..."
Surion nodded slowly "Otay" he said quietly liking his cousin's hug, but then he liked attention so that helped
Jakath smiled and poked his nose. "To my room!" He said happily.
Surion nodded "Otay" he smiled moving to pull away and hurry towards Jakath's room
Jakath smiled and started to walk towards his room, it was strange, that his cousin hadn't grown.
Surion's tail was the last thing that was seen as he slipped into the room ahead of his cousin
Jakath chuckled and entered the room after him, looking around.
Surion was sprawled on Jakath's bed on his back with his dragon in the air held up by his hands when Jakath entered the room
Jakath smiled. "So what we gonna play?" He asked, sitting on his floor.
Surion rolled and pushed up to sit "Sur not know" he said looking at his cousin " he said putting the dragon beside of him on the bed
Jakath nodded and thought for a moment. "Wanna play Dragon hunt?"
"How Sur play?" Surion asked curiously not really knowing this game
Jakath got up and he smiled. "Well what we do, is we go out and we 'hunt' dragons..." he chuckled. "We tag people and run away..."
"Otay" Surion said with a nod, he knew tag, he also knew running away
Jakath got up, and motioned for him to follow.
Surion followed him leaving his dragon safe on Jakath's bed as he moved
Jakath walked out into the main. "Me and Surion are going out for a bit mom..."
"Okay... Be safe..." Mikiri said.
"Bye bye" Surion said waving a hand as he followed his cousin closely
Jakath headed down towards the market. "Once we get to the Market we can start..." He said softly.
"Otay" Surion said holding his cousin by the hem of his tunic and staying close his eyes glancing around once in a while
Jakath moved down to the Market and then leaned against one of the walls, watching.
Surion tried to be a copy of his cousin leaning against the wall, even looking up at HOW he was leaning and trying to copy it
Jakath looked down at him and smiled. "Now we wait..."
Surion nodded "Now wait" he said looking up at his cousin for a moment before again copying him
Jakath laughed softly and waited... Till two girls about his 'age' walked by, they should have been familiar.
Surion watched them, to him what was familiar was their scent
Jakath smirked. "You take the right... I take the left..." He murmured, slowly starting to stalk closer.
Surion nodded and followed his cousin he didn't really know what right was... but he guessed it was whatever one Jakath didn't tag
Jakath smirked and then tagged the left female.
Surion tagged the one Jakath didn't
Kalia turned and looked down at Surion. "Oh!" She giggled and knelt grabbing his wrist.
"Hey!" Jakath smirked and started to talk with Janie for a little.
Surion stared up at her biting his lip feeling rather 'trapped'
Kalia let his wrist go and kissed his forehead. "Hello Cutie... We're all waiting for you to grow..." She smiled and stood up, looking to Jakath. "You did on time I see..." She blushed.
Surion pulled his hand to himself "Sur this many" he said holding up three fingers and meaning how many months he was, he knew that much, his mom told him and he'd heard his mom and dad tell others
Kalia's eyes went wide and she looked him over. "Oh my..." She murmured.
Surion pulled his hand back to himself not liking her new expression, it was like he had done something bad. he backed up a bit not watching where he was going
Kalia's face instantly softened and she bit her lip. "Sorry..." She murmured and got on her knees, with a soft smile. "Come here..." She said softly with open arms. "Come give me a hug... please?"
Surion stared at her for a minute before slowly moving forward again playing with the tip of his tail in his hands
Kalia scooted forwards a little to get her hands behind his back, then slowly pulled him to her and giving him a hug
Surion let her hug him though he didn't hug her back as he played with his tail
Kalia pulled away and smiled at him. "It's alright..." She murmured softly. "You'll grow when your time comes..."
Surion smiled "Sur get big" he said with a nod holding his tail tightly
Kalia smiled and kissed his forehead again. "Hey, why don't we all go play now that we're together..."
Surion looked up at Jakath when she suggested this, he was following his cousin around, that is unless his cousin went to a certain place again
Jakath nodded. "Yeah, sure, that's fine..." He said with a smile, scratching the back of his head.
"Otay, Sur play too" he said with a nod and a smile
Kalia smiled and nodded. "Yeah!" She said offering him her hand.
Surion looked at Jakath before taking her hand when it was offered
Kalia smiled and took it, and the group started to walk towards the upper cliffs.
Surion walked with them relieved to see them going up rather then down
Kalia smiled and soon they were in a rather clear area.
Surion looked around them he'd never been there before and especially in places he'd not been before he looked at EVERYTHING
Kalia smiled at him and sat down. "So Jakath, oh great leader, what shall we play?"
Jakath scratched his head for a moment
Surion sat down near her his tail wrapping around him and into his lap listening
Jakath thought for a moment longer..." How about we race to the top?"
Surion was quiet letting them pick what they would play, he just wanted to play with his cousin, he didn't really care what it was
They nodded and stood. "Kay, first to the top wins!"
Jakath chuckled and joined them
Surion stood up when he saw them all stand they'd picked something , he smiled excitedly to be playing
"Ready... GO!" Jakath shouted and ran off towards the top of the cliffs, the girls hot on his heels.
Surion ran after them though they were quickly gaining distance on him
They didn't seem to notice they were losing him either.
Soon he stopped, watching them run, he looked around he didn't really know exactly where he was after they had basically disappeared from sight, pink tears trickled down his cheeks and he looked around finding a tall rock offering protection from the trees and a place to hide from the path not wanting to be found by any animal big or small and sat behind it with his knees pulled up to him his arms wrapped around them being very quiet
It took about five minutes for them to come tearing a** back down the slope, trying to find him.
Surion didn't move, not even hearing them return he just stared at his tail that was wrapped part way around one of his legs
"Surion?" Kalia called out. "Surion?"
Surion didn't reply just sniffled a little still crying, the knees of his trousers pink
Kalia moved closer towards Surion's rock.
Surion didn't move he had picked up the scent of someone approaching but it was a familiar scent so he didn't run
Kalia stuck her head over the rock. "There you are..." she said relieved.
Surion pulled his knees closer to himself almost as if trying to hide even more from the kids who had left him behind
Kalia sighed and moved over behind the rock. "We're sorry..."
Surion's blue eyes slowly looked towards her and he sniffled again and used a hand to wipe across his nose
Kalia pulled him to her and brushed his hair. "We weren't paying attention, this is our fault..."
"Sur too little" he said trying to pull away from her hug
Kalia sighed. "No... Sur just..." She bit her lip. "Sur just need a little more time be bigger... I'm sure Sur be bigger soon..." She said softly.
Surion shook his head, he didn't believe her, he'd been little for a long time "Sur little" he said sniffling again
Kalia hugged him tighter and kissed his forehead. "Shhh... Sur be big soon..."
Surion cried quietly holding his tail tightly, he didn't believe her
Kalia held him and started to hum a soft dragon song, something soothing, she felt bad for him deep down, that he'd not grown with the rest.
Surion quieted listening to her humming, humming could always calm him, always had
Kalia held him for awhile, and the other two opted to go off and talk a bit, but didn't stray to far.
Surion looked around he didn't see his cousin. Pulling away from her he slowly started walking towards the direction they had come from when they had come up to this area of the cliffs
Jakath was talking with Janie, and he was blushing a lot and scratching the back of his head.
Surion didn't stop he just kept walking, he felt out of place with the older kids
Jakath stopped talking for a moment and turned his head to follow Surion. "Sur, where you going?" He asked softly.
"Sur go back Auntie cave" he mumbled not stopping
Jakath bit his lip. "Here Sur, I'll come with you..." He said softly, moving to follow.
Surion nodded but didn't stop walking he was looking around as he walked every now and then and following his nose for his Aunt Mikiri
Jakath just followed him, feeling really bad that Surion had gone through all that...
Soon by pure luck more then anything he found his way back, he walked straight through the cave towards Jakath's room wanting his dragon
Jakath waited outside of his door, watching Surion
Mikiri came in and bustled about putting up Jakath's clothes. "Did you two have fun?"
Surion looked up at her and shook his head a lil while he held the dragon close to him then walked towards her
Mikiri sighed and picked him up, holding him and giving Jakath 'the look' and walking.
Jakath sighed and walked in, flopping on his bed.
Surion cuddled against his Aunt holding his dragon close at the same time as he cuddled
Mikiri walked to her room and sat on the bed. "What happened?"
"Sur too little" he said quietly to her when she asked
Mikiri sighed. "Who told you that..." She hugged him close.
"Sur did, Sur little, Jakaf big, girl big, Sur little leg, Jakaf big leg, girl big leg, Sur not fast, Jakaf fast, girl fast" he said rambling
Mikiri hugged him tight. "Oh Surion..." She buried her face into his hair. "You'll grow soon I promise.." She murmured and sat up a little. "I know... I can give you the growing herb..." She said with a soft smile.
Surion looked up at her blinking his cheeks still were pink from his crying when he was sitting behind the rock
Mikiri brushed his cheeks. "We have a special herb that promotes growth..." She murmured softly. "I'll give you some..." She smiled.
"Otay auntie" he said staying where he was in her arms
Mikiri stood and smiled holding him close. She was lying through her teeth... But he didn't have to know that... She just wanted him to cheer up
Surion leaned against her listening to her heart as she moved "Sur not like 'lone" he said quietly as she walked
Mikiri held him. "Nobody likes being alone... Did Jakath and the others leave you?"
Surion nodded "Sur too little" he said "Sur little leg, not go fast" he said quietly
Mikiri held him. "I'm sure they didn't mean to leave you behind..." She put him down on the counter. "And if they did..."
Surion pulled his legs to him sitting cross-legged watching her "Sur stop, sure 'lone, Sur hide" he said only watching her not paying attention to much else
Mikiri nodded and brought a strange looking leaf over. "Here, eat this..." She murmured.
Surion took the leaf looking at it "Sur eat Sur big?" he asked her holding the leaf with his hands
"Yes, but i might take a little time... Could be tomorrow could be next week... It's very random..."
Surion nodded and sniffed the leaf before munching on the edge of it
Mikiri smiled, it was a calm inducing minty leaf, if he ate it all, he'd probably fall asleep because of his size. "You need to eat it all Surion..."
Surion nodded "Otay Auntie" he said still munching on it and looking around
Mikiri smiled and let out a sigh of relief.
Surion eventually ate all of it and was yawning sleepily looking to have a hard time keeping his eyes open
Mikiri smiled and picked him up, humming softly as she moved for Jakath's room
By the time she arrived there he was asleep against her his hand loosely holding his dragon dropping it just before they got to the door. His blanket had been with his clothes, he didn't drag it everywhere anymore but still insisted on sleeping with it
Mikiri lay him down next to the sleeping Jakath, who had tears of his own on his face. She sighed and kissed her son's forehead and ran her fingers though his hair. "Life's not easy for you is it Jakath... My leader..." She murmured, moving back out and getting Surion's Blanket and Dragon, tucking Surion in and making sure the stuffy dragon was there. She kissed his forehead too and brushed his hair. "Sleep well my favorite nephew..."
Surion curled up into more of a lil ball his hand instinctively latching onto the blanket when she tucked him in
Mikiri smiled and walked out, blowing out the torch on the wall as she left.
Surion slept through the night rolling a few times by morning he was sprawled on his back his tail draped over Jakath's side, but it wasn't his normal tail... it was longer...
Jakath mumbled and rolled over, looking at Surion, he blinked and looked at the tail on him. "Mmmph?!" He rolled out of bed and stood, rushing to get his mum.
Surion didn't notice his cousin's movement still sleeping soundly thanks to the leaf
Mikiri came in and was floored. Had it actually done as she said?! That would have been... well odd... She giggled and chalked it up to a fluke, but she'd milk it any way she could! She moved over and shook his shoulder. "Surion... Surion..."
"Mmmm" Surion replied reaching a hand up to rub an eye with his fist
Mikiri giggled. "Guess what..." She murmured.
Surion opened one bright blue eye looking up at her
"You grew..." She smirked softly.
Surion opened his other eye blinking not sure if he should believe her, he rolled to his side and pushed up still a lil sleepy-groggy and looked at himself he said nothing yet, just stared
Mikiri giggled softly. "See!" She smiled, and Jakath just stared at his cousin.
"Big" he said quietly even his voice sounded older he reached behind himself and grabbed his tail pulling it around him looking at it too
Mikiri grinned at him. Yeah..." She murmured softly. Jakath nodded. "Yeah... big..."
"The leaf worked?" he asked her, by now he was standing and looking underneath himself still rather shocked
Mikiri grinned softly. "The leaf was to make you sleep... There is no 'growing' herb Surion..." She said softly. "No, you did this on your own... as much as I would like to take the credit.
Surion looked at her and quirked a brow, she was a tricky one, he'd have to remember that
Mikiri smiled softly and nodded her head. "Yes... You did this on your own... Wait till your parent's see you!"
"Whoa, mum will not know me" he said then he noticed something, his trousers once at his ankles were now at his knees and his tunic almost didn't fit at all, his bellybutton showing along with most of his forearms
Mikiri giggled. "Here... Let me get you some spare clothing..." She dug through Jakath's dresser and started tossing clothes at him, some of them would fit some wouldn't.
"Thankyou" he said gathering what he would need and changing not even thinking about her presence or his cousins
They didn't seem to mind either, in fact, both just went about their business as usual, Jakath making his bed, and Mikiri going to make breakfast.
Surion finished and yawned widely shaking his head to get rid of the sleepies
Jakath finished on the bed. "Shall we go see what my mom's cooking?"
Surion nodded "Yeah... I'm hungry" he admitted looking at his cousin
Jakath nodded and walked over, wrapping an arm around his shoulder, thankful that he was still taller. "Hey... Sorry about yesterday, we weren't thinking ya know.."
Surion nodded "You're used to playing with kids your age, I'm older, yet I was still smaller, it made sense... I guess"
Jakath chuckled weakly. "I'm still sorry tho... I felt so bad about it yesterday, I'm sure Janie and Kalia do too..."
Surion nodded "Just a fact of life I guess" he said softly heading towards the hall his stomach grumbling
Jakath walked with him and patted his shoulder. "Yeah, still sorry..." He murmured, then headed in.
"I know Jakath, it's ok..." he said wandering into the kitchen
Jakath nodded and sat down at the table, just as Mikiri started to lay out the food
Surion walked up to the table to sit, he always found his aunt's and his grandparent's table a lil tall for him
Mikiri smiled and put a plate out for him. "how's it feel?
"Uhm, weird" he admitted playing with a strand of hair as he took the place from her
Mikiri chuckled and smiled. "Well I'm sure it felt weird for Jakath too..."
Surion looked up at her giving her a confused questioning look utensil in hand as he was just about to eat
Mikiri giggled. "Going from toddler to child like that..." She smiled softly.
"Me? or Jakath?" he looked from his Aunt to his cousin
"Both of you..." she murmured.
Surion nodded and dug into his meal hungrily
Mikiri smiled and ate with them
Surion ate till he was full and leaned on the table his tail twitching lazily below him
Mikiri smiled. "So what do you want to do today Surion?" She asked softly
Surion shrugged "I dunno, whatever" he said still getting used to being bigger
Mikiri smiled. "Well there's only one downside to this whole growing thing..."
"What's that Auntie?" he asked quietly looking up at her
"You no longer have that cute speech impediment..."
Surion blushed brightly, he himself hadn't even noticed
Mikiri giggled. "Oh well, you just got all the more cuter anyway..." She murmured and smiled.
"Thanks Auntie" he said softly playing with the utensil in his hand
Mikiri smiled and rolled her neck a little giving him a wink. "Why don't you two go out and play a bit..."
Surion nodded dropping the utensil and sliding off the chair heading towards the door
Jakath got out of his chair and went to follow Surion, who knew, maybe they might actually... play... The minute they stepped out side they were accosted by the horde once more... Only the horde was taller now.
Surion stopped for a moment he hadn't been expecting to see them, he wasn't sure about playing with the whole group, last couple times were rather a disaster
Jakath chuckled and waved a few off, he pulled Surion close. "Well Sur... It's your choice... Shall we ditch these loser and Find Janie and Kalia? Or do we wanna troll with the sheep?"
"Last couple times we did either of those they both bombed, so I don't know" he said with a sigh
Jakath chuckled softly and patted his shoulder. "Hrm... Well do you think you can survive a hit now... Cause I sure as hell ain't going near the ram again..."
Surion shrugged, he hadn't played a ton of the war game in a long while
Jakath stroked his chin. "Hrmmm... Well... We could try again... Or would you rather we find the girls?"
"You seem awful keen on the girls" he mused hearing the options again and again
Jakath blushed softly and poked his fingers together. "S-so? They can be fun..."
"You didn't used to think so" he said and looked towards the crowd of kids
Jakath blushed more. "I... Uh... Got to know them better?"
"Then why don't you go play with them, I'm not sure what I want to do" Surion says pointedly
Jakath bit his lip. "But I want to spend time with you Surion..." He said looking at his cousin. "Lord knows when one of us will grow again..."
"Knowing my growth it wont be any time soon, I'm a lot older then you after all " he said to his cousin
Jakath nodded. "Well I'd really like to spend time with you, so why don't we just go off by ourselves.
Surion nodded "Ok" he said messing with the bottom hem of the tunic he wore
Jakath nodded and slowly walked away from the crowd, which had stated to play again.
Surion wandered along with his cousin his tail moving lazily around his legs
Jakath walked till they hit the market, then he found a table for them to sit at, and he motioned for Surion to join him.
Surion climbed into the seat and leaned on the table swinging his feet since there was lots of space under him
Jakath smiled and leaned forwards. "So, what do we want to do today neh?"
Surion shrugged "I don't know, not like I planned to wake up all grown up... Why are you so keen on Kalia and Janie?"
Jakath blushed. "Erm... really only Janie..." He said softly, his eyes suddenly finding the table very interesting.
"You like her?" Surion asked curiously
He nodded slowly, the tips of his ears turning red. "She's cute..." He murmured
Surion nodded and said nothing his finger running over the pattern in the table
Jakath looked up. "What do you think of Kalia?" he asked softly
"She's ok I guess..." Surion admitted but he didn't blush like his cousin had when he spoke about Janie
Jakath nodded softly. "She's likes you... She was very mad when you hadn't grown..." he murmured. "But I get the feeling... you don't like her that much.
"Maybe as a friend..." he said quietly glad the girls weren't there to hear them talk about this
Jakath nodded slowly and chuckled. "I'm not sure she's going to like that..." He murmured. "But I guess she'll live..." He smiled softly.
"Why" he asked looking up at his cousin
"She likes you... In... That way..."
Surion stared at his cousin like he had a third eye not sure what he meant
"She has a crush on you! She... erm... Uh.... Dangit!" he tapped his finger for a moment thinking. "AH! She likes you like your mum likes your dad..."
Surion's eyes went wide at the thought of how his mom and dad 'liked' each other
Jakath nodded. "Yeah... Yeah... like that..."
Surion shook his head "Uh no... I don't like her like THAT"
Jakath nodded. "Didn't think so..." He said softly and moved his finger along the top of the table
"What's a crush?" Surion asked after a few minutes
"A crush is well, feeling that you like another person a whole lot... But it's not quite love yet..." He said softly. "Or maybe it is love, but it's not... It's not as strong as well, love love..."
Surion stared at him letting the information sink in and trying to understand it
Jakath looked at the table and bit his lip.
"I like Nani" he said after a few minutes of thinking about this information
Jakath looked up. "Who's that?" He said softly.
"Somebody back near the house where mum and dad and me live, she's my babysitter, I've known her since I was... well a baby" he said trying to explain it
Jakath nodded. "Ah, well that's understandable..." He chuckled and sat up a little bit. "Well I'll tell you what... I'll go after Janie, and you can have this Nani person..." he smiled. "The next time you come back to the cliffs you can tell me how it's going..."
Surion chuckled "She's bigger then both of us, I don't know that she'd like me" he said
Jakath chuckled and gave his cousin a 'look'. "Surion, a girl resist a Rakamash? Are you crazy! We're irresistible!"
Surion couldn't help but laugh "Yeah, but she's not like us, she's not dragon" he said not knowing if it'd make a difference
Jakath's face faulted just a teensy bit. "Hrm..." He stroked his chin and leaned forwards. "Well then you just might have to try a little harder... But I'm sure your charm will win out!" He smiled softly. "But erm... I might suggest avoiding bringing her here till cousin Vina enacts a few acts neh?"
"My sister Vina?" he was a little confused, he knew his sister was an Elder but what acts would she need to do
Jakath nodded. "Yeah... It's still kinda sort of illegal for outsiders to be here... But she kinda got her husband... and her other mate... Here on a sort of extended Visa..." He said softly. "I think she's trying to make it so we can open trade to the outside... But the Older elders are against it, and the only two people backing her are Rhazar and My dah..."
"Mum is not from here, and technically neither am I" he stiffened
Jakath bit his lip. "But you guys count as Dragons..." He said softly, pointing at the horns.
"So, Mum wasn't a dragon when she and dad met..." he didn't like this conversation
Jakath thought for a moment. "But uh..." he sat back. "Uh..." He racked his brain hard. "You know what, I don't think it really matters... Mom likes her, therefore she has to be okay..."
Surion looked down at the table "Then I wont bring Nani here" he mumbled "Only Mum and Dad and my siblings will know her"
Jakath bit his lip and nodded slowly. "O-okay..." He murmured softly and sighed. "Why is it such an issue... I really wonder if the places outside the cliffs are as bad as the older Elders say..."
"No. I was born out there, I was raised out there besides the time I've been here" he said crossing his arms "Can't be that bad our Aunt lives out there and even raises and cares for one of the animals my mum and dad find homes for!"
Jakath nodded. "Maybe I should talk to Dad about putting more pressure on the council... He should be able to make some headway... I... I kinda wanna know what it's like out there..."
"Your brother came, I don't se why you couldn't" Surion said boldly
Jakath nodded his head. "Yeah... Jokar did, and he's still very happy and healthy... His family is just two caves down from ours..." he murmured. "I guess I could... But don't you have your hunt still?"
"Oh yeah, guess it wouldn't be now that you do, I don't think we are leaving really soon, Dad keeps talking about not being able to tell mum about what is coming... Mum keeps saying she knows he can't tell... Mum says we are staying till after it" Surion said
Jakath nodded and looked up at the sky for a moment. "It drove my mom nuts... Dad's a Hunter, and an Elder... and he can't tell her half the things he does..."
"I heard mum talking about becoming one... and she's helping the healers too" Surion said quietly
Jakath nodded and smiled. "That would be cool..." He murmured softly.
"So now what should we do" he stomach growled, enough time had passed it was nearly lunch time
"We get some lunch from one of the vendors..." He smirked, standing up. "And I know just the one..."
Surion smiled and hopped down following after his cousin
Jakath made haste to a female food vender. "Veeeeeeeeeennnnnnn...."
Surion followed after him almost keeping up and not wanting to get separated on the way to get food
The female turned and looked at him. "Ah Jakath, little brother, how are you..." She smiled, working with the food as she kept it warm.
Surion stopped beside his cousin looking up at the female, the food smelled wonderful
Jakath smiled. "Can we have some food?" "Two claw a piece!" Ven giggled. "Veeennn! You know we don't have money!" Jakath pouted. "Oh alright..." Ven smiled and gave them both a small haunch of deer. "Have fun!"
"Thankyou" Surion said taking the meat as it was passed to him, he knew not who the lady was but obviously his cousin did
Jakath smiled and walked away. "Older sister..." He smiled.
Surion nodded "I have 2 sisters" he said and bit into the meat his sharp teeth digging in as he pulled the meat
Jakath chuckled and ate. "I have more than I can count...." He smiled.
"Two sisters and one brother" Surion said feeling a lil weird that his cousin had so many and he only had a few siblings
Jakath chuckled. "I have more brothers than I can count too..."
Surion was quiet he didn't want to compare how many anymore
Jakath looked at him and bit his lip. "Sorry..." He murmured, eating.
"Not your fault" he said simply, returning to his meat sucking at the remaining bloody juices with his fangs almost as if feeding from the meat
Jakath nodded and ate, heading back towards home.
Surion followed after him finishing the meat by the time they reached the cave
Jakath entered. "Mom, We're back!" He called out.
Surion wandered in after his cousin wiping his hands on the sides of the trousers he was wearing
Mikiri came into the room with a smile. "Hey you too, take a seat... Surion I think you parent's are in the kitchen... They could have moved while I did laundry tho..."
"Kay" Surion said and wandered into the kitchen looking around for his parents
Torvil was making a sandwich, when he saw Surion he froze. "Who are you, and what have you done with my son?" He asked softly, though there was a lot of play in his voice.
Surion laughed "Daaaddddd" he said playfully exasperated
Ala's eyes widened looking to see what Torvil was at "Well now..."
Torvil chuckled. "I think we'll be heading out on the Hunt Soon, I'll have to Talk to Malkar tonight..."
Surion fidgeted and nodded "Yeah I guess so" he said he hadn't thought about exactly /when/ it'd be
Ala smiled softly "My son is getting all grown up" she said with a happy sigh
"Muummmmm" Surion said blushing lightly
Torvil chuckled. "Next thing you know we'll be grandparent's all over again..." He smirked, reaching out and ruffling Surion's hair.
Surion blushed at that, did his parent's know what he and Jakath had been talking about?
Torvil grinned at him and laughed, poking his nose. "You and I will have a talk later..."
Surion nodded "Yes Dad" he said feeling warm in the tips of his pointy ears
Torvil chuckled and smiled at Ala. "Well lets get our budding young man home before he sprouts again... I'll stop by again tonight and talk to Malkar..."
Ala laughed and nodded "Don't forget your sandwich love" she said standing up from the chair she'd been sitting in
"I'll go get my stuff" Surion said and left the room in the direction of Jakath's room where his dragon and blanket were
Torvil chuckle. "Ah yes! My SHAMMICH!" he laughed and finished it up, taking a huge bite out of it. "Mmmm... Good Shammich...."
Surion returned a few minutes later carrying the items "Uhm, guess the change of clothing you brought would be too small now huh" turning the folded clothing over in his hand
Ala shook her head "Silly love"
Torvil chuckled and nodded. "We'll get you some more tonight... Right now, lets head home!" He said, still munching on his sandwich.
Surion nodded "Kay Dad" he wandered out of the kitchen to say bye to his cousin, his mother wasn't far behind him
Jakath waved to him as he left, Torvil finishing the line as he headed out, eating.
Surion waved and thanked his aunt as they disappeared out the cave
