Meridian followed behind her, careful to stay mostly hidden.
Scarlet stopped what she was doing and looked in the direction of the voice, scared. No one ever came by here.

Zarina hissed at the large creatures that came out of the woods, edging back further into the shadows.
"No, no!" Delilah said trying to calm the children. "It's alright. We're not going to hurt you. My name's Delilah, this is my friend Meridian," she said softly indicating to the dragon. She smiled at the little girl closest to her, a dark baby with red markings, "What's your name?"

Scarlet froze up at the newcomer, shocked at the presence of another. She decided to answer, “Scarlet.” Her eyes looked over to her, noting the horns, wings, and fangs. She was like her siblings and mother, but not quite in the same way.

"That's a pretty name," Delilah smiled at the girl. She seemed so scared, poor little one. She looked into the shadows seeing two more babies hiding there. "Are these your friends, Scarlet?" she asked in a gentle voice trying to make the children feel more at ease.

"They are my sisters." She swallowed, looking back at her sisters, and wondered what was going to come next.

"Your sisters?" Delilah smiled at the other girls hidden in the shadows. "Do you girls want to come out and talk with us?"
Zarina shook her head frowning. No way she was going to walk in the sun to go talk to a pair of strange ponys.
"No?" Delilah continued to smiled not showing a hint of discouragement as she turned back to the little one who was willing to talk to them. "Where are your parents, sweety?"

“My sisters don’t like the sun very much and neither does our mother.” She shifted around a bit. “Who are you?”

"My name's Delilah," the demon said kneeling on the ground to better talk to the baby girl. "I'm from Nightmare Valley, this is Meridian, he's from Dream Valley. We heard you guys playing back here and we wanted to make sure you were all alright."

“Delilah. That is pretty name. We’re just fine here. Nothing ever happens and no one ever comes around. Do you want to play? My sisters never want to play with me when I want to play.”
She leaned over to take a good look at Meridian and her eyes went wide

Delilah saw the girl's eyes grow wide and whipped around half expecting to see the vampire looming over her. She could see only Meridian. "What?" she asked still trying to discern the cause of the child's fright. "What is it?"

"You have a brother that looks like Meridian?" Delilah repeated giving her dragon companion a questioning look.
"Wait she's right," Zarina whispered creeping closer to get a better look at the overgrown lizard that resembled her brother.

"Is it a lost Dragon? There are many of us that spread out to different places. In any case, you children should come with us. We wouldn't want you to become food for some of the creepy creatures of the night. It's starting to get dark." Meridian looks out towards the sunset.
Scarlet walks closer to Meridian looking at him curiousily.

"We're not afraid of the dark," Zarina said hesitantly following her sister.
Delilah inhaled sharply seeing the second girl emerge from the shadows. "Meridian," she whispered trying to keep her voice level. "Look at her, the little one with the blue cape."

Meridian thought the children had been alone for too long to have a good idea of self preservation. He frowned at that. “What girl? Oh, oh her.” He looked at her glittering in the shadows. “Hey, she is a mighty fine gold color isn’t she?”
