Cyrith sighed, his head hanging low. "If only it were that easy. To say I was mad and get it over with. But the thing is, I'm not mad. I know for a fact that the voice is real, but I can't prove it. I feel like I'm going insane, but I'm not. It's confusing for me."

Raising her eyebrows skeptically, Astraea replied, "A crazy person isn't aware that they're insane. The voice--by the way, what voice?--may be real to you, but I can say with cnfidence that there was no voice. Well, hm..." She paused. "Perhaps there is a voice and I'm the insane one because I cannot hear it. It really could go either way."

Cyrith just shook his head some more. He was really bugged by this, but he needed to somehow get it over with. "The voice seems to be from someone I know, or rather knew. And it scares me that I might be going insane by hearing this voice, but I compare myself to the others who had had voices talking to them, and I don't act like them. I wish I knew how to..."

Hand her a sword.

"Huh? What?"

I said, hand her a sword.

"The voice says to hand you a sword. Do you want it?"

"Want it? No. Will I take it? If I must." Astraea held out her hand expectantly, figuring it was more along the lines of some practical joke or a manic episode about to unfold. She was slightly unnerved by his self-conversations, but her curiosity was over-weening. "Fork it over."

Cyrith drew his sword, the pushed the hilt towards her hand. When he touched her hand, though, a white light flashed around them both. Their bodies stood hidden from view, but their essences, or soul, were drawn into the swords themselves. All around the area, forests and meadows and mountains sprang up. And in the middle of it all was a male elf with a scar on his face. "Well, hello again Cyrith."

Cyrith saw the man, then whispered one thing. "Oh s**t." Then he fainted. Galaeron just shrugged and turned towards Astraea.

"So, remember me? I used to kick your a** up and down all in one day. Anyways, how's it hangin'?"

"Abrasive greeting coming from a kindred old timer like yourself," Astraea observed, frowning dsitastefully. She didn't even notice that she could see. Too displeased by Galaeron's appearance to even care about much else, she focused on her fingernails in order to ignore him. Flicking a piece of dirt out from under them, she said, "I heard you were dead. Even went to the funeral. Mother made me. Although the venture wasn't entire fruitless since there was a buffet."

Galaeron was flabbergasted. "You mean to tell me that my family had a buffet without me? Oh, the inhumanity. To know that there was food without me there, not able to sample the fine cuisine. To Ariador with them all. At least Cyrith wasn't there. He was too busy shedding unnecessary tears over my death." He kicked the downed man, just for fun. "Lazy a**.

((Made it easier to define me from you))

((Yeah, I was going to point out Galaeron's color infringement ;D ))

"Actually, I've found your boy's efforts very, uh, not lazy. He even tried to carry me, little dickens. But, as you can imagine, that didn't work out very well. I'm not the touchy-feely type." Realizing that she had disgressed, Astraea cleared her throat and began anew: "So, how'd you wind up not dead?"

"I'm not dead? When did that happen?" He patted himself down, as if feeling himself for the first time. "No, I'm dead. Jeez, don't scare me like that. He started to chuckle. Always a practical joker that one.

"So. What did you do to actually make Cyrith open up to you, huh? Every time someone tried to get close, he always pushed/scared them away. Why are you different?"
PostPosted: Mon Mar 24, 2008 12:11 pm

"Maybe it's because I'm not trying to get close to him. I'm just trying to annoy the heck out of him. That, in combination with my obstinance, tend to either create tolerance or blood-shed. Both are fine with me."

Cracking her knuckles absently, she asked, "And, what do you mean by: I'm dead? You look... sort of alive to me. Unless... unless I too am dead. If that were the case then... is this hell?"

Galaeron blinked. Then blinked again. "Hell? No, this ain't Hell. This is Chaos." As if to prove his point, a bird flew by, but with the legs of a cat.

Cyrith, however was starting to wake up. He happened to hear the last part said by Astraea. So, she wants bloodshed. Why didn't she say so earlier? He tried to stay inconspicuous, but he was terrible at it.

Utterly dumbfounded, Astraea was only able to mumble, "Well there's something you don't see everyday." Gazing around her with new eyes, she spotted some more grotesquely shaped creatures: some sort of hooved fellow with multiple eyes, a bush that seemed to be waving with more energy than provided by the wind, and a gray blob surrounding a tree in a manner akin to that of an amoeba.

"Is this some sort of practical joke?" she asked skeptically, flicking her eyes untrustingly at Cyrith. "Uh... does he normally scowl while he's unconscious?"

"Unconscious?" He glanced down at Cyrith. Then kicked him, really hard, right in the chest. "Naw. The b*****d's faking it. He's probably thinking of something that he could do to make someone's life horrible."

"Hey. Owww. I heard that. And felt it too. You suck, you know that?"

Wincing at impact, Astraea couldn't help but to snicker. For such a devoted kid, he sure picked the wrong mentor. It explained a lot. Reaching down, she was going to offer him a hand up. But, she noticed that her right hand was gone, and in its place, a blasted wood scuttle. "What the ********..." she cursed, trying to fling it off. The bug responded by spreading its wings and flying away, leaving Astraea with no right hand.

"Alright, I officially hate this place," she grumbled, reaching down her left hand in the right's stead.

Cyrith and Galaeron were close friends for a reason. Even though the elf was fifty years older than the human, they were alike in so many ways. Always telling jokes, pulling off pranks, fighting each other, they did tons of things together.

So when they saw Astraea look at the bug on....well, be here hand, then fly off, they looked at each other. Then started laughing their asses off. Now, it didn't get noticed by Cyrith that his braid started to turn into a viper, though. So when he got bit in his back, he didn't know what to make of it. Then he was bitten again, and Cyrith came up close and personal with the snake, leaving one option. Run like Hell. Which he did, causing Galaeron to break into an even harder laughing fit.
