"Do you think they exist somewhere else?" Lin asked.

Since she didn't know how big this world was, she knew from lessons there were lands for each of the cardinal points, but there was also the sea. Was there something across the sea, like there was back home in Gaia?

Idhril giggled. "It's lots of fun!" she told him. "She said something about a Second that she wanted to defend everything from. He's not a very nice Second, though, he said our family doesn't have honour." She pouted, even though she really didn't know what that meant.

Serenity blushed, but she held out her folder to Luthien obligingly. It had only her most recent work inside, the rest was all in her bedroom back home, and most of it was just short sketches and the like.

Sir Valdemar looked uneasy at the question. He had often wondered the same thing, if life in Laurefalas might be the same as life during the first age had been - that was where the Valar now resided after all; but he had never been there, and it was forbidden to speak of that place, upon punishment of never being able to see it.

"Perhaps," he replied vaguely. "Though I doubt it."

Luthien took the folder and looked through at the various drawings. She was impressed with their quality - it appeared as though Serenity was quite talented. She saw many pictures of Serenity's family - Elnara and Lore's family - and she saw how happy all of them were.

"That's very good," she smiled, handing the folder back to Serenity.

Lore blinked and wondered just what type of Second this was, and what sort of person Lin was.

"Well that's a very insulting thing to say, it's no wonder why she doesn't like him very much."

Lin mused, maybe was better than simply no, "That would be something to see," she murmured thoughtfully.

She didn't realize it would be an uneasy question to answer and even if she did, she wouldn't understand why.

Idhril nodded agreeably and snuggled into Lore's shoulder. For a few moments, she was quiet and thoughtful; then she looked up at Lore curiously and asked, "Papa ... what's honour?"

Serenity smiled. "I like to draw and paint," she told Luthien in a soft, shy voice. "I like making some of them move, too. Someday, when I get real good at it, I'll be able to make the things that I paint become real ... right now I can only make them move a bit on the paper."

Earendil grinned at Lin and bounced her a bit in his arms. "Well?" he asked her brightly. "What do you want to show your niece and nephew next?"

Luthien and Atalya were equally surprised. It was one thing to be able to make wonderful pictures and drawings, but to be able to make them move? Make them come alive?

"How do you do that?" Luthien asked Serenity curiously.

Lin thought about it for a long while, as she knew there were all sorts of things, but at the same time not as much. As most of the hallways she played in were the same.

"The courtyard!" she proclaimed, "Are there any new plants different from last time?"

Since she never knew what changed and nature tended to change the most.

"Ah...." Lore tried to think since it was such a hard concept to reply to.

He was even amazed that Lin could understand enough of that to be insulted by a comment like that.

"Well... honour is what a family or a person has when they follow or uphold certain values, beliefs or morals."

In which he knew there was possibily more questions to be asked.

Idhril blinked up at Lore and smiled innocently. "What does that mean?" she asked sweetly. Most of that had gone completely over her head.

Serenity's face turned a deep shade of red. "Um, I say my spell and it happens," she mumbled, lowering her eyes. Her hair fell forward into her face, and she left it there so that it hid her face. She tucked her unfinished drawing back into her folder and tucked it under her arm.

Silvrendir dashed out of the bushes just then, giggling and running quickly in Elnara's direction. He ran into her legs and threw his arms around them, still giggling, and looked up at her, his green eyes shining brightly. Then he put his hands up to her to be picked up, still not saying a word.

Elnara laughed and reached down to pick him up, brushing his wing feathers down with her fingers. "And just what have you been up to?" she asked him with amusement as she picked a leaf out of his hair.

Silvrendir just giggled.

"I know what the courtyard is!" Storm announced proudly. "It's in the middle of the castle where it's outside!"

"You only know that because of Celebor's books," Starr replied, folding her arms across her tiny chest, completely unimpressed. "Even I knew that."

"Ah, I see," Luthien smiled at Serenity. "Perhaps sometime you could show me, then? Not now, if you don't want to."

It would be rather interesting, she thought, to see magic from another world.

Earendil laughed. "You're right," he told Storm with a grin; then, looking down at Lin, he replied, "I can't tell you if it's different than it was the last time you were here or not. I know it's always changing, the plants anyways, but I couldn't say when or how."

He looked over at Sir Valdemar. "Are you coming with us?" he asked the ancient historian.

Sir Valdemar shook his head. "No, I have to get back to work," he replied. "Unlike you, I have a certain amount of work that I do have to get done each day."

"All right," Earendil grinned. "We'll see you later then." And he waved and started down the hall towards the stairs again, still carrying all three children.

"It.... it means that you're always trying to do the right thing," Lore finally decided to take the easy way, "To be a good person I guess is one way of putting it. Honour is very complicated because to be honourable is different to each person."

It wasn't that helpful, but he couldn't limit her, it was something she was going to have to decide for herself in the future.

"Oh..." Lin murmured, "Okay," she wiggled to look over Earendil's shoulder as she waved to Sir Valdemar, "See you later!"

And she would see him later, it was always fun to be with him even if he had work to do, because then she could do her work too.

"Oh," Idhril nodded, understanding a bit better now. She reached across to poke Silvrendir, then looked up at Lore. "And you're honorable, right?" she asked him eagerly. "And Mama's honourable, too? And Nako? And all of us?"

"Maybe later," Serenity agreed. She hesitated a moment, then asked Luthien, "Is it all right if I watch you for a while?"

"Bye!" Storm called cheerfully, waving from his cousin's shoulder.

Starr giggled and waved as well, then looked down at Lin. "What's in the courtyard?" she asked her aunt eagerly. "Lots of pretty things?"

"Of course," Luthien agreed happily. She watched Elnara, Lore and the other children as she painted, and also was aware of Serenity behind her. The red-haired child was the first she had seen of Elnara's who had wings - and she couldn't help but notice how pretty his wings were. Pure white, but dusted with silver ...

Earendil headed towards the stairs and grinned at Lin. "While we're asking questions," he laughed, "do you want to go through the walls this time?"
