drspoon i would looooove to burn Chester by Schuman.....AGHHH...i hate that song...this is my first full year playing baritone in band...and well, that song is F'in hard!! i agree w/ you on that one...but not totally...its not a bad song just hard like you said sweatdrop

Childhood hymn because it sounds stupid and because all the high notes make me dizzy. Think about it: 8 beats of high C at a really slow tempo.

What's up with the christmas music?? Don't you guys ever play something good?? Geesh...And the hard music? Just because your musical abilities aren't good enough, don't get so worked up about it!!
Anyways, I agree that Pomp and Circumstance is bad xp (we had to play it for eight minutes straight along with Recessional) but it shouldn't be burned. None really should, if you think about it.
The best piece, though (which should never be burned, ever!) is Variations on a Korean Folk Song. For those of you who actually play good music and know what it is, we played it as eigth graders, big kid version; impressive, huh? Even though it does get annoying after practicing it over and over and over again, it's the best to impress. Hell, it's the best overall.

I don't like this. The low brass line, which I play gets extremely boring, and it is VERY easy to lose your place. Also, the melody is't very good either.

It is really boring, the melody is DREADFUL, it is repetitive, and we have to clap and go "shhhhh" for about 8 measures. I despise it with a passion.
Misunderstood Songs

It was very hard for my band, and we got a 2 in UIL with it, but it is still VERY pretty. We did really well on it, but the judges were being butts smile

Apparantly the song we just got in band is the devil's music. I wouldn't know, I wasn't there to get it...
My abilities aren't the problem, it's genuinely whether or not I like the song. Last year, my sophomore year, we played Vaughn Williams' English Folk Song Suite, and the 3rd clarinets had this obnoxious background part. We had nightmares since we were having issues hitting the notes, but GOD its my favorite part of the song. I played Toccata For Band in 9th grade, and found it rather easy...dunno why everyone here complains. The music this year isn't really hard. Procession Of Nobles wasn't so bad, neither was Moon River, or Purlie, or Dance and Serenade...I like most of the stuff we do.
EDIT: Just as a note, if you want to say Toccata For Band was easy because we had high schoolers to help - no we didn't. Our 9th grade is part of our middle school. To make it even better, I was practically a solo 1st clarinet until the BD went nuts that I was the only first clarinet.

Flight of the Tuba Bee.. I'll never forget having to learn that bloody song for the AMCC conference in Calgary 3 years ago. Our Tuba Soloist was amazing but the bloody peace was a living nightmare

Tryptic, Ouchita, And The bilboard march (I think thats how you spell them sweatdrop ) Those are the songs we playing for festivle and we going to state. We had a practice today and like 5 or 6 people didnt come and our band teacher said to go home, and we used to have like half the band not go, so o well. He's a true jacka*s though. 3nodding
