Fenrir was pleased with the Rattata's favorable reaction. It seemed to be content with the amount of candy it had eaten, and seemed to be settling. Ah, he hoped it didn't get sick, poor thing.
He gave it another pat, letting the little rat drink up the attention. He wondered if anyone had ever lavished attention on the little fellow like this. But if it was wild, the most it probably got was yelled at or shooed away.
No matter! That was neither here nor there.
"Heh, you like that, huh? I bet you don't get pet and trested nearly enough. Well, tonight must have turned out to be a very prosperous night for you, huh?" he remarked cheerfully.
He found it amazing how a night could go from run-of-the-mill to utter chaos and then to awesome again. But that was what made holiday so special, right?
He looked at Kira and found it endearing how the Zubat seemed to brush her with its wing, presumably in a soothing gesture. Pokemon were definitly more in-touch with things and more complex than people gave them credit for. Any trainer could see that. The Stunky settled down with Anya, and even across the room, that Gastly that had nearly encited a meltdown had seemed to attach itself to the company of a girl.
He looked down at the Rattata, almost as though he were expecting something. "Everybody has somebody...do you want somebody too, or are you more happy being wild, I wonder...?"

The Rattata seemed to consider the human's words for a moment.
Seemed to. To be honest, there was little to consider. The guy was nice, funny...and gave the Pokemon candy and pets. It'd be nuts to leave this place for the wild again!
Squeaking happily, the mouse scrambled suddenly up Fenrir's arm and attempted to make a bed of his hair. Of course, it had forgotten the spiky glue mixture and soon gave up, draping itself around the boy's shoulders like the world's strangest scarf.
Congrats Fenrir! You have a new companion!
---
Well, no one else seemed nearly as fascinating as this one...even when she didn't want to cooperate. The ghostly Pokemon drifted back over to the 'dark one,' hovering around her as if taking a serious look at her at last. Then, the Shuppet 'cooed,' an odd sound for a Shuppet, and settled in, making as if sitting on Tara's head and mimicking her distant nature in pretending to be preoccupied.
Congrats Tara! You have a new companion!

Arianna got up and put the gloves the the chains in the bag she had won under her dress, "Wonder if that one girl is onaky..?" She spoke to the Gastly, "Let's go see...and stay away from the crazy firey-one" She made her way through the tables to the doorway of the kitchen, peeking in to see what was going on

Kira giggled as she felt the Zubat hide itself, nuzzling into her neck and causing her to let out a small squeak. "Oh, that tickles!" She giggled more and gently pulled her hair over as a curtain for the Zubat. "Hmmm, we should name you, shouldn't we? How about...... Lestat?"
She looked over to see Fenrir and his new scarf and she let out a snort-giggle. Hearing Anya yawn and get up, she smiled. "Alright Anya, sleep well, ok? And please clean up your scratch, it would be a shame if it got infected...."

"This," Samantha continued, gesturing widely towards the Pokemon that seemed to be settling down now, into their new 'homes.' This wasn't good. "What happens now? You can't think that everything is just going to end all happily ever after now! I'm sorry, but life doesn't really work that way."
"No, no it doesn't..." Hayden trailed off in agreement. "This is tricky...LIFE is tricky..." His mind was already racing...maybe he could steal some empty Pokeballs and sneak them to the ones who had found friends tonight. If nothing else, it might save them in an emergency situation.
The guard's cool attitude was starting to get on Samantha's nerves. What was with this guy?!? Hissing softly, she dropped her voice so that only the two of them could hear. "What I mean is that you're one of them. And don't think that one little good deed in a time of crisis is going to easily toss you into my good graces, buddy. That uniform weighs a lot more than any useless gesture."
There was definitely something familiar about this girl, though Hayden was sure that they'd never met before. It was something in that angry glare though...it reminded him of someone. "Don't think I don't realize that," he answered just as quietly. "It weighs more than even you realize, I might guess. Then again, that's just personal opinion."
Switching gears, Samantha dismissed this argument until later. "Point is, you're one of them and the uniform is all I need to see to know that. Now, I can't imagine Carl being too happy about unrestricted Pokemon running around without his knowledge. You gonna' skitter off and tattle on them all as soon as the coast is clear? Rip away the one source of comfort these poor souls might have in here?!?"
How much did this girl know?!? She seemed to know more than any of the other guests...but if she did...then why hadn't she told them all? Why wasn't there any sign of a rebellion...or at least righteous anger and violence?
...and why did she call Dr. Hakan, 'Carl?' Most used his title...or full name...or at least his last name. Even "the Doc." Very few EVER called him 'Carl' in such a casual manner.
The truth that he didn't know was that Samantha had long since disowned her supposed 'uncle.' Never again would she use that title when referring to him, even if Hayden had already known her connection to him. Blood only...and what was blood?
"Hey!" Her voice cut through the guard's musings like a knife. "I asked you a question! What are you gonna' do now?" Her eyes were narrowed dangerously, and injured or not, she still looked ready to leap and kill if the situation called for it. Too bad Hayden was the nearest target.

Huh. Well this was interesting.
Quil regarded the quiet argument between the two humans with mild interest. He seemed to recall the female as the one who had (stupidly) been on the receiving end of his flamethrower earlier. Samsomething, or whatever. The uniformed male he didn't know the name of beyond some 'lion' reference. Whatever.
He couldn't hear their words from where he was, but the argument seemed to be getting intense... at least on the female's side.
He contented himself with watching for now, a vague smirk curling the corners of his mouth, the Ghastly disappearing from his mind as easily as he could disappear from sight. That female looked to be on the verge of tearing the male's face off.

Arianna glanced to Trickster and nodded to the Pokemon, whipering for him to be careful as she crouched down and snuck a bit closer, listening carefully. She frowned slightly at the tone of the conversation...She wasn't quite sure she wanted to but in...but her curiousity was overwhelming. She wanted to know what the heck was going on. And the thought of loseing Trickster so soon? A pain pulled at her heart at the thought.
~But...What are they talking about...?~ The hidden theif thought to herself, reaching out to Trickster as if to reassure herself...

"To be honest...I have no idea what you're talking about."
Hayden's voice and demeanor were completely calm, as if he didn't notice that she looked ready to claw his eyes out with her fingernails at a moment's notice. He slowly gathered the roughshod first-aid supplies and climbed to his feet, heading for the kitchen to put things away.
"I didn't see a thing. Let me know if you need more burn cream later on."
He was gone long before the puzzled look left Samantha's face, replaced by a bemused, knowing expression.

That was anticlimactic.
With a bored huff, Quil heaved himself to his feet again, and began moving towards the exit of the room. He'd had enough of being here. And besides all that, he could use an uninterrupted nap right about now..

Fen laughed in delight at the Rattata leaped up on his head, eventually settling for his less spiky shoulders. One could never have too many Rattata in his opinion. He'd have to nickname this guy a little later- already the small rodent felt like family, and family deserved names!
He wondered how he'd manage to keep this guy, though. Most places of business didn't like wild Pokemon running about...and even his licensed Pokemon were in the daycare right now. He figured...when no one was looking, he could slip the little guy in his coveralls and then spirit him back to his room and just hide him there. He'd hid plenty of wild Pokemon in his room back home, after all. It couldn't be THAT hard to manage here...
Either way, prying the boy's new friend away would not be an easy task for anyone, if they dared.
Fenrir lifted a hand and waved to Anya, smiling at his new nickname (and at how content the Stunky was to have such a sweet new friend). She was a funny girl, this one. But that was okay- made things interesting. He'd have to hang out with her some other time.
Next to him, Kira seemed pretty at home with her little Zubat too. Ah, but wasn't Hayden a worker? Fenrir didn't think the man would be the type to rat them all out, but sometimes when you had a job... He sat up straight and leaned towards the conversation...despite being a little far off.
He clapped in delight again at the man's answer, happy that sneaking his new friend to the dorm wouldn't be as hard as he thought. Hayden was a good man. He liked that.
He grinned over to Kira. "So I guess it's time to make off and hit the hay for tonight, huh?" He yawned. "It certainly has been eventful. I think I'll sleep well enough tonight..."

Arianna grinned lightly before sneaking out into the main room once more, "Guess the party's over?" She asked casualy as she picked up the chairs she had knocked over as if she was there the entire time. The conversation she overheard nagged at the back of her head but she brushed it off, She'd worry about it later. She let out a large yawn and rubbed her eyes, "Guess it's time to wander back to whichever room comes first and sleep. Night everyone!" She called out the last part, just to be friendly. She had a lot to think about and knew standing around here wasn't going to help matters. She gestured to Trickster and spoke to the ghost type, "Come on...I'll show you where I stay." And headed out of the cafe, trying to remember which way was her room.

Kira blinked in a confused manor when Fenrir burst out in applause. Without knowing why, she started clapping as well and leaned over. "Why are we clapping...?" She whispered to him.
Of course, she was also blissfully ignorant of the small rule of pokemon not being allowed to be kept by humans. Considering the fact that she had never even attempted to capture a pokemon before, she had had never learned of the fact that CRONUS didn't allow the humans to keep them on hand.

Tara pursed her lips together and looked up at the shuppet. This thing was going to follow her around now, wasn't it. Sighing, she leaned back against the wall behind her, ignoring whatever was going on around the room, and studying the ghost pokemon; her new 'companion.'
