I hate Light.
He used humans as self defense.
It was sad when he killed Raye Penber and Naomi Misora.
I cried when he killed His own father and L.
He would sacrifice everyone just so that he'd be safe.
Not to mention Misa. He's a cold-hearted b*****d who has no feelings >->
And at the end, He betrayed Mikami who was so loyal to him.
He lost track of the true purpose why he started using the death note--to get rid of criminals, and not innocents. It isn't heroic, It's a crime. He doesn't have the right to kill people, to begin with. And that means the criminals as well.
As for my favorite character, it would be Matsuda. Solely because, other than Near/Ryuk, he's the one who ended Kira's reign.

welll im not emo im just sadist and bubbly...odd combo eh? meh anyhow i think this story is soo off the charts! better than naruto because its int. and serious and just shows the inears of the human........ 3nodding
i really need to stop listening to my honors eng. teach....her analiztic brain teachings are starting to rub off on me.. xd

I hated when L died in both the anime and manga because he was my favourite character...but at least he knew he was right before he died. Light was just annoying in the way that he kept using people just to get what he wanted.
I happy that in the end Light died and Near won. But when he said that together he and Mello surpassed L I thought 'Fair enough but if Rem hadn't killed L using her death note then Near and Mello wouldn't be needed and L probably would have beat Light.'
