((My best friend broke up with her boyfriend. His parents are Orthodox Jews and didn't approve of their relationship, so they're sending him back to Chicago (we live in Miami). She's really upset by this since he was the best boyfriend she had, and I'm not exaggerating; he's a really great guy, really smart, funny, and just overall perfect for her. I've talked with her on the phone about half an hour ago and her voice wouldn't stop shaking. It's just...she's not the only one who's upset. I think this whole thing is just so stupid...that religion could tear apart two people like that...I dunno. I'm too upset to sleep tonight...))

I don't really know what to do. I've told her that I'll always be there to listen to her if she needs to talk, but...blargh. This is bullshit. And people wonder why I'm so anti-religion (even though I'm religious myself...).))

Exactly. I'm an eclectic polytheist pagan, but if my child fell in love someone from a different religion, then so be it. I have no right to take away that happiness.

((@Gidget: You probably grew up in a reasonable household. I grew up with an a*****e Christian father who hated everyone. He's the main reason why I became an atheist/agnostic before discovering paganism...

My Mom and Dad both grew up Catholic. Once they moved out on their own though they ditched it.

Ugh. All throughout Highschool I HATEEEEED Christians (No offense meant, Sil. :c ), but I did tolerate it enough to have christian friends. They would always try and convert me, and I had notes written to me about how they were worried that I would be going to hell. I mean, it was sweet in a way, but it was really annoying at times. One of them even got me a bible.

I still have it though. It was a gift from them, so... -Shrug- It's a pretty white bible too. Maybe one day I'll try and read through it... The numbers throw me off big time though.

I started Wicca to shake people off my tail pretty much, and because it was really cool and interesting.... I don't really practice it too much now, but I do believe in what rocks can help with what... etc. Tarot cards, Pendulums. I keep the third rule close to me though because I've seen it first hand.

((@Gidget: Mmm, yes, most Christians I know are so uptight and annoying. Sure, I have a few friends who are Christian, but they're tolerable, which is why I'm friends with them in the first place. I know some Jews who act the same way (my best friend is Jewish, but unfortunately she wasn't Jewish enough for her boyfriend's parents...)

I started practicing Paganism because it called out to me, I guess. I've always felt like I had a connection with the Greek and Egyptian gods and have always loved and respected nature, so I guess that's why I decided to venture onto that path.))
