“I already drag them around by their ankles.” His boy was being a stubborn teenager again and he was just hoping that fate didn’t decide to try and teach the boy a lesson the hard way. But his wife was doing a rather efficient method of distracting him some, though his ears still twitched at the sound of splashing, keeping track of things.

"But that doesn't make them admit they aren't right." She was still paying just as much attention to the two in the water as Sevilin was but she was also feeling lonely and puffy even if she wasn't yet. Ten minutes later she broke the kiss and glanced up to check on the boys, noting Zykariel had gone even further in than he'd been the last time, almost up to his shoulders in water and Kelligrin's head barely above the water himself. "Zykariel!"
He glanced back just as his brother decided he wanted something he saw in the water and he began squirming. Zykariel shifted his hold on the little boy then yelped when he was punched in the nose, reflexes causing his arms to release and drop Kelligrin. There was a splash and then nothing.

He startled again from that half drugged like state as his wife's tone took on that sense of urgency. A frown as his son decided to further test the limits of things and he eased himself out from under his wife in preparation to go drag the boy back if he had to. Which proved to be good of his instincts as in the next few seconds, bad things happened and he was up in a flash and in the water. Firstly he grabbed Zykariel and pulled him back to shallower water just in case before he let his rock like tendencies in water drop him below it. Runes of course made life easier and he had grabbed Kelligrin in a matter of seconds, a little rune scribed to the boys forehead. One that specifically made it so he could breathe water for a short time. Which of course would allow him to flail his way in water back to the surface. Teenagers...

He wasn't the only that moved quickly. Zahara was up and she dove underwater quick and clean, well acquainted with swimming and finding things in the murky Underdark waters. Her fingers were grasping for her son, his wide red eyes staring at her from his spot. He opened his mouth as if to say something and she shook her head, blinking when he didn't suddenly cough and choke. The glowing rune on his forehead made it clear. She kicked her way back to the surface, grasping Sevilin and trying to help pull him up with her as well. Breathing accelerated, she took the little boy and cradled him close as he coughed and choked now that the rune had worn off. Stepping past her oldest, she lightly brushed his shoulder. "Accidents happen."

A little kicking and with Zahara's help it was back to the surface easier than normal and she let her take the baby so she could coddle him all she wanted. Wading back out of the water he stopped by his oldest and brushed a hand through his son's hair before clapping him on the back to get him moving as well and out of the water, both of them heading back to the bank after Zahara. Stopping out of the water, he took a look at his son's face, just in case.

She did cuddle her youngest but only because he was looking a bit unsure of himself now that his body was no longer runed and the water in his lungs was trying to come back up. Holding him and patting his back, she monitored the water he expelled and comforted him when he began to cry. He'd never much liked spitting things back up, even when he was a baby and hadn't had a choice. "I think we're done with the water."
Choosing to keep quiet, he took the brief affection his father gave that translated neither of his parents were mad at him and plopped himself down on the bank without another word.

"I would indeed say so." Despite it all he gave a light chuckle followed by a sigh as he ruffled his oldest son's wet hair before pulling the boy back up. And then walking him back to his other son and wife. "Besides, you're going to be cranky if you feel like you don't have enough time for dinner and you know how we men get when we don't have food as well."

He was making joked about eating? She had to admit that she was extremely pleased that he'd been eating without prompting lately. It was nice to see him able to do what he needed without being told. He wasn't as OCD about cleaning either. Reaching for his hand to help her up, she settled her youngest on her hip and nodded. "It's about that time. Come on then." Kelligrin squirmed but she refused to put him down, walking back along the path and letting Sevilin ensure that Zykariel was coming too.
He was upset, despite his parents seeming to think everything was okay. He'd nearly drowned his brother and right after his father had mentioned that he wasn't supposed to go that far out, either. Shaking his head, he trailed off behind his mother and father, shuffling his boots and kicking a random stone.

A motion to his oldest to make sure he was coming before he followed after his wife. It was going to be a rough rest of the night with Zykariel, he knew that from the way the boy was being quiet...anyone who knew Zykariel knew that he was rarely quiet. Looking to his wife he gave a light grin. "Feel up to making some cookies tonight? I think we can all use them."

She didn't like the way her oldest was responding anymore than Sevilin did but they both knew how stubborn he could be and, as much as she didn't want to admit it, he got that from her. She returned his grin with a half-hearted smile of her own and a nod as her youngest stopped sniffling and looked quite pleased in her arms. "Yes, the cookie jar is running low anyway. We'll have cookies and milk for a snack as soon as we get back."
Zykariel stayed fairly withdrawn the rest of the night, refusing to respond to pokes or questions or jokes meant to get him involved. He remained stubbornly stoic, finally stalking off to his own room.
Watching him go, she shook her head and leaned against her husband for a bit of mutual comfort. "That boy. They turn into teenagers and it's like they lose their minds and become something else entirely."

He wrapped his arm around her, rubbing her arm lightly as she leaned into him and gave a sigh of his own. "Or he's just so much like you that he doesn't like to be proven wrong on anything." Giving her a grin and a chuckle to follow that before pressing an apologetic kiss to her forehead.

She frowned as Sevilin confirmed her own suspicions but had nothing to say in defense to what she knew was a fact. She was stubborn and she'd passed it down to some of her children. Then again, Sevilin could be just as bad so maybe combined their kids were ten times as stubborn.
It didn't get much better as the days passed either. Or maybe it got perfectly better and Zahara missed the memo. One minute Zykariel was morose and sullen and the next he was back to partying with his friends and preparing for races. He rarely said two words to her or Sevilin but the ones he did say didn't seem full of anger or malice. She just didn't know anymore; that kid was so frustrating.
Outside tending her horses, she dragged the brush across Faete's silky back as the Nightmare indulged in a rare treat. He lifted his head and gazed towards the road, making an impatient noise to her then stamping his foot. Someone had come to call. Resting a hand on her ever-present daggers, she recognized the hooded movements of a Labyrinth bred drow before she ever saw the blue belt that identified him as Vesendarian. Who could it be? "Steady, Faete..." She watched the stranger walk closer and tensed, ready for action. "Are you aware you are on private land?"

He was wondering if she would remember him, seeing as he hadn't been around in a while. Obviously the cloak and such was throwing her off and being the kind of man he was...he of course had to play with her about it all. Otherwise it wasn't a fun and he did indeed love to frustrate her to no end. "Quite aware. Is this the part where you hold a dagger to my throat and say I'm trespassing?"

Not in any sort of mood, she decided to allow the stranger a moment or two to defend himself before she cleaved his head from his body. His answer had her quirking an eyebrow at him. She knew that voice...she did. But she knew so many Vesendarians that it could be any one of them. "Depends. Do you have business on said private land? Or have you merely lost your way?" If he'd take that hood down she might be able to place him.

"I suppose I have business on said private land as you put it. After all, when you stop coming around for business then the business has to come to you now doesn't it?" Chuckling and crossing his arms, shifting his weight to one side. Nadai was very much enjoying this but it was indeed interesting to see her more evasive about things than directly confrontationa nd questioning.
Of course when someone came into his little privacy radius that wasn't registered with his runes, he knew about it. Thusly he had come out to stand on the porch with arms crossed, watching in almost casual fashion where his wife was and whomever that was. After that little incident with the Vesendarians he had had...he was never too trusting of them.
