Netsubo was being erily silent. Her course stayed the same for a time before switching over to the left side. Skeletons became more abundant the farther they went.

Faust didn't know whether to feel afraid or at home. His fingers itched to control the skeletons, since it was his talent and his area of expertise, but he was afraid that he'd throw something off if he did.

There was a small slot of light up ahead. Netsubo stopped walking. There was dried blood all over the sides of the walls and the ladder leading to the surface. Netsubo sighed and reached for the ladder.

An odd sense of foreboding clutched Faust as Netsubo reached for the ladder. "Careful," he whispered.

She nodded and started to climb. Inching the trap door up on it's hinges, she peeked out to see if everything was all clear. There was nothing but grass from what she could see.

Faust squinted up at the sudden ring of sunlight. "What is it? Are we in the clear yet?"

"Probably..."She pulled herself out and looked arund. The house was about 3 blocks away. Netsubo walked to the start of one of the blocks cautiously.

Faust grasped the ladder's rungs and began to ascend. He couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible was going to happen... but maybe that was because nothing else had happened all day.

Netsubo felt like there was someone watching her every move. She could see smoke from the safe house.

Faust gripped the ladder halfway up. "Netsubo?" he called. "I don't know if I can climb higher... it's not that I'm afraid, I'm just..." he couldn't figure out what was wrong. He wasn't paralyzed, but it was as if a force field was keeping him down.

"I don't know," Faust admitted, trying to reach for the next rung. He ran his hand over what felt like a pane of glass, preventing him from climbing higher. "Let me try going back down..." his foot struck something solid, and he stepped off the rung onto what was apparently thin air, but felt as solid as the barrier above his head. "Netsubo, I think I'm stuck."

"Stuck?"she seemed confused,"That's strange...I don't remember there being any traps....and I passed by fine..."She reached down a hand to see if it could pass through.

Faust pressed his knuckles against what seemed to be keeping him in one place. It was solid, and several inches about his head. It felt like glass, but didn't smear when he ran his fingers over it.
