"A Nidoran huh? Well Sandshrew can beat that weak looking pokemon." The Youngster bragged. Upon hearing that comment Queeny just growled at the Sandshrew across from her clearly getting annoyed as the two across from her laughed. "All right Sandshrew use your Scratch attack on it!" The kid commanded. The Sandshrew just nodded and ran at Queeny and jumped at her claws ready for a Scratch attack.

Lucky Queeny was faster and was able to dodge it, but just barely. "All right Queeny start this battle off with your Attract." Toph commanded. "And keep an eye on that pokemon." She said feeling the movements of the pokemon through the ground. Queeny nodded and striking a pose hearts started to come off of her and float around the arena. Luckily for them this time that attack hit the ground pokemon causing it to sigh as it became infatuated with Queeny.

"Noooo! Sandshrew snap out of it!" The Youngster called from across from them. The Sandshrew had other ideas and was walking around love struck for the Nidoran ignoring his trainers’ commands.

"All right, now Queeny use your Double Kick attack on it." Toph ordered with a smirk on her face. Queeny just grinned and turning around, the Sandshrew was rather close to her, she lashed out with both of her hind legs delivering a blow right under the Sandshrew's chin sending it flying a few feet.

The blow seemed to knock some sense into the Sandshrew and it growled at Queeny. "Your back Sandshrew, now use Scratch attack!" The Sandshrew nodded and dashing forward he delivered a strong Scratch to the other pokemon. Queeny fell forward at the attack and picked herself up quickly she turned around and grit her teeth at the other pokemon mad now. The attack did do a good thing though, since the attack had drained the anger the Sandshrew felt at being kicked it allowed the affects of Attract to come back and the pokemon was back to being love struck.

"Hmp, looks like your pokemon is having a bit of trouble." Toph taunted with a grin on her face. “Now Queeny use Double Kick again." The poison type just grinned and dashing forward she jumped into the air twisting her body around slightly before landing a powerful two kick into the other pokemon's stomach. The kick this time sent the other pokemon flying into the Youngsters arms. Upon her victory, Toph put her hands on her sides and laughed triumphantly. Apparently Jake's little lesson had not humbled her at all. Queeny also seemed to agree with her as she strutted around the arena, even though the Scratch attack that had been delivered to her had hurt a lot she did her best to ignore it. Edge who had watched the whole battle just shook his head to the side. The fluffy normal type while studying the area spotted a pokemon healing machine and after stamping his foot once to get Toph's attention through the vibrations of the ground he pointed at it.

Ignoring the other trainer Toph, Edge and Queeny made there way to it. "You think you can figure it out Edge?" She asked she herself having no idea how it worked. Edge after looking at it for a moment nodded thinking that he had figured it out. Grabbing Queeny's pokeball he put it in Toph's hand as an indication to return her. "All right then, Queeny you should stay ready, I am going to definitely use you in the upcoming battle." She said as she recalled the poison pokemon. Handing it to Edge who placed it in one of the machines pokeball holders he pressed a button he thought would activate it. The machine seemed to flash a few times before making the familiar dinging sound.

Zangoose zan." Edge said picking up the pokeball and handing it back to Toph who took it easily. "All right then I want you to pay close attention Edge, I don’t think I will need you but I want you to learn from this fight." Edge was somewhat disappointed at the fact that he wouldn't be used but nodded anyway in understanding. Both of them went up to the end of the gym and Toph declared her challenge. "Brock, I challenge you to a gym battle!"

"Psht, being a Gym Leader's nice and all that, but it isn't as amazingly cosmic super awesome as some people might think that it is," Sabrina said, as she and Nina continued to walk along the route they were on, the rain slightly drizzling down onto them. "The thing that I love most about it is all of the exotic Pokemon that I've gotten to see. There was this one Pokemon named Spoink that I thought was pretty cool. It was this little pig that had a spring in place of where its legs should have been, and it had this gorgeous gem on top of its head... But there was another time that I battled against this one boy who used a team of six of the same Pokemon. The best way I can explain what it looked like was that it resembled a duck, combined with a pineapple and a green sombrero. I think its name was Ludicolo or something. I beat the kid, but those Ludicolo were so annoying to KO that you wouldn't even believe it."

Sabrina smiled at her sister. "But, all in all, being a Gym Leader's a pretty good occupation. You'd make a good Leader someday, Nina." Her face grew warm with a smile...

This memory slowly played through Nina's mind. She wiped one of her eyes with the back of her right hand. I wish you didn't have to leave me so that I could become a Leader, Sabrina. The Psychic's gaze turned to the floor.

He closed his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest. Psychic Pokemon... he thought, tapping his foot. Kilik's thought was interuppted for a slight moment as the train lurched forward and began to pull out of the station. The black haired trainer opened his eyes to see that there were very few on board. Flareon had made itself comfortable on the seat next to him and Elekid had continued to sleep soundly on his head.

"No doubt that she'll be using Alakazam," he whispered, "That was Sabrina's powerhouse." He closed his eyes again and remembered back to the Five Island incident. Granted, he didn't see much action from the Alakazam, but it had stopped one of Giovanni's attacks, and if it could do that, it was a force to be reckoned with. "Giovanni is the most powerful trainer I've met. And if an Alakazam can slow him down, I may have a bit of trouble." He kept his eyes shut tight. If he remembered correctly, Sabrina also had a Slowking. Kilik had fought a Slowbro in Cerulean, but wasn't too sure what the big difference between the two was. Could he use Flareon and still expect a win? After all, Slowbro was at a high level, wasn't it? The same levels that are expected of the Saffron Gym?

"Flareon! Flare, Flare!" the fire-type barked at its trainer. Kilik looked down at it and smiled.

"I'll be using you, don't worry." Although, a part of him did worry. The only other Pokemon he had that was of a high enough level to attempt fighting Nina was Weezing, and being a Poison-type made him very vunerable to their Psychic-type attacks. He knew that Scizor would make a powerful asset to his battle, knowing that Nina's Psychic Pokemon are weak to Bug-type attacks.

"This will be my toughest battle yet..." he looked at the ceiling of the train. Against the highest level Gym Leader yet...and the girl I hold closest to my heart. Kilik placed a hand on his chest and sighed.

"Alright, let's see here," Nina said to nobody in particular, banishing the annoying memory that kept playing back in her brain, "time to think. Kilik's Pokemon are more than well trained, and it's obvious that he'll be using that Flareon of his." Nina smiled a little bit at the mention of Flareon. "Then, there's that Weezing of his... that shouldn't be a problem for me to take out. Even Jynx could knock him out in a round or two, but I doubt his brain would be able to process the concept of pain."

But for the other one... He's got that lab experiment-- Poppite, or whatever it was called. Strange little Dark Pokemon that could give me hell... and then there's the evil b***h monster of doom, that Scizor of his. A Bug and Steel type would be one of the hardest things for me to beat."

Nina paced around a little. "Well," she said, "this sucks."

Some cans, a tightly sealed bag of fresh (or fresh as possible, being fairly non-perishable) ramen, and some long, wooden chopsticks were pulled out of her backpack. Apparently, some great deal of her bag must carry cooking/food supplies. A stir-fry's quick and easy -- and I've got just what I need for it, more or less. M.A. looked at her collapsible pan, found a particular button, and pressed hard to get the stiff circle to relent. The pan was somewhat of a wonder, being lightweight, durable, collapsible, and convertible -- grudgingly, its metal flaps thinning out to form a larger wok. The brunette grinned a bit; Michael really had spoiled her before this trip, what with this and her modified PokeDex. It must've emptied out a good chunk of his large contest winnings savings, she realized; in fact, just her parents getting her a PokeNav must've been a bit of a financial strain. A flood of guilt washed over her -- she'd really have to make it up somehow, one day, and make them all proud.

"Daemyn? Could I have some fire?" she called out, having set things up in record time, fuel for the flames and all. The puppy glanced from the blue Houndoom to his trainer before nodding his head respectfully at the other of his species (M.A. noted this amusedly) then trotting over. A controlled lick of fire lit the wood and lightweight coal from Mt. Chimney she'd gotten in Lavaridge, and soon the little metal stove rack was supporting her wok, carefully away from grass. Tomatoes, the ramen, mushrooms, some canned fried tofu, and herbs she found nearby on the route (what luck!) was promptly dumped into the wok, a lovely aroma following. M.A. loved this; she loved to cook for people and Pokemon far more than for herself.

"Oh! I have some food for all the Pokemon, too," she added, stopping the stirring just for a moment and letting it sizzle impatiently while she turned and grabbed a large, clear bag from her backpack. She had made the brown pellets at Lavaridge's Pokecenter, borrowing their ovens while Daemyn was still recovering. "This. . . might not be much more than a snack, though," she blinked, looking up at the Gyarados and laughing a little.

Ulani looked at the food eagerly, and a sweat-drop appeared on the back of M.A.'s head. She recalled the little Swablu sheepishly. "If you eat anymore, I'm sure you'll get sick," she said to the red and white Pokeball in her hands; after all, it'd only been two hours or so before Ulani and Daemyn had feasted themselves.

A part of him was regretting to even challenge her. Why didn't he just decide to try and become Champion of his own region? Then again, he would have Mike to contend with. He shook his head and clenched his fist. "I need to collect eight badges of a region..." he whispered and closed his eyes, "But it doesn't seem like it's going to happen anytime soon." Elekid let out a snort as it slept.

That settles it. I need to journey in one region alone and gather the badges. he nodded his head, But I'll need to be the first to a region. Kilik tapped his foot on the floor, looking out the window. The hills of Goldenrod City were now speeding by. A sudden twinge of pain went through his chest and he winced, very visibly. Kilik shut his eyes and turned away. It wasn't going to be much longer before he finally reached Saffron and battled his hardest battle against Nina.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 13, 2007 8:52 pm

The train began to slow down and Kilik's heart began to race. The trainer wanted to stand, but knew he would have to keep his seat. Instead, he grabbed onto the arm of his chair, biting his bottom lip. This was it. His battle was coming up. Before he would go to the Gym, however, he would need to make a quick stop to the Pokemon Center to make double-sure that his Pokemon were healed completely.

There was a sharp whistle from the front of the train which caused Flareon to sit up and hop down from the seat. Elekid stirred slightly, but didn't wake from its slumber. The trainer stood up as well, walking toward the sliding door. He hopped down the platform, his arms swinging by his side. His gait was a bit different than usual, walking with his back straight and his head held up high. He scratched along his clavicle and stepped out into Saffron City. He took a deep breath and began to head south towards the Center. Kilik cast a glance over at Flareon, who was walking proudly beside him.

There was a five minute intermission before Kilik reached the Center. Upon entering through the sliding door, he had already recalled Flareon into the safety of a Pokeball. The boy placed the Pokeballs onto a tray and handed them to the Nurse behind the counter. It was fairly empty in the Center, so it wasn't long before he was already handed his tray. Had Nurse Joy had more Pokemon to take care of, it would have been a longer wait. Kilik bowed to her and walked outside. The moment his foot touched the stone walkway outside, he sighed. "This is it." he whispered.

Kasiya watched in both amazement and drooling hunger at Mary-Anne's cooking. It smelled absolutely amazing, and she was reminded of the puny meal she'd had for breakfast hours ago. She managed to tear her gaze away from the wonderful food cooking before her, and looked at Mitsu. "Zyphyr's hurt?" she asked, worries flashing across her features. As Mitsu tried to rise, the girl was at her side in seconds, helping her back down. "Just rest," she said reassuringly. "Uh," she looked around, wishing she'd stocked up on healing items before she left Lavaridge. In Mitsu's state, she couldn't even stand. "Mitsu," she said suddenly, "give me Zyphyr's Pokeball. I have my bike, I can ride to the next town and make sure he gets treatment." From what she'd seen on her map, when the nurse at Mauville had shown her the way to the Daycare, a town called Verdanturf was only a few more kilometers west from where they were. "That way, you can rest regain your strength."

Flannery merely waved her hand, and nodded at her Pokemon. Mike's trickery may have worked on other trainers, but not on one he'd known for years. Magu remained stationary, having moved only a slight amount since he was brought into battle. He gave a cry, the ground rumbling slightly as four jagged pillars of rock spiked out of the ground, encasing the Charizard in a stony tomb. Magu wasn't exactly the most mobile of Pokemon, so Flannery often relied on moves he could execute without moving. Nitro's previous assault had left a mark on his side; even with the hardening of his shell did he feel the attack. Flannery knew in her heart that if Magu had been several levels higher than he was now, Nitro wouldn't have stood a chance. But as it was, she and her trusted partner would go down fighting - together.

The rocky move stung, all four spikes of it. Nitro roared out in pain, the last stalagmite ripping a gash in his side. His body was taking a beating, but he knew with a few more attacks, this slug was going down.

The boy winced at the force of the blow. He knew Magu was a tough little Pokemon, even if he didn't look the part. For the first time in a while, a sweat bead traveled down his cheek. "Nitro, keep digging!" He cried out, his anxiety a little relieved when his ever vigilant Pokemon burrowed underground once more.

"Hmm." Flannery smiled, and lowered her head. She could have Magu use protect again, or she could just let it end here. Magu would still have energy left after the attack regardless, and she wasn't sure how much Nitro had left in him. Maybe Mike really had shown that he'd earned her badge. "Magu, hang in there," she said quietly, watching her beloved Magcargo once again put up the shimmering green shield.

"Yeah, that's right," Keegan nodded; now glad to have a name to go with the pretty face. "She was at Dewford Island when I defeated Brawly," he went on. "It's nice to see that you're looking well." He shifted Helios up on his shoulder, placing his weight so the Pokemon sat more comfortably. "It was a friend of mine. The blonde boy who went rushing out of here in a huff caused the earthquake just now. Or rather, his Nidoking was the cause of it." Keegan explained. "Seems that Nidoking was showing off to a Nidoqueen, and he got a little carried away. But I wouldn't put it past Jaeshan to overreact to it. We should find him and reassure him a little." Keegan blinked, surprised at this sudden concern for someone else. In most cases, he would have just walked away. Maybe it was the unborn Torchic, or maybe he did care about Jae, but either way, this abnormal attitude threw him for a loop.

"I don't know," Miharu sighed, looking at the ground. "One moment, I think I can win, and then the next, I'm not so sure anymore." Her gaze fell upon a dopey-looking Slowpoke, wandering slowly down the side of the road.

The pink Pokemon had become quite a common sight, and the people of Azalea seemed to take great comfort in their presence. It stopped, and looked at her, blinking. "Slooooooow?" it asked, before continuing on its way once more. Miharu assumed the Slowpoke was heading towards the well on the outskirts of town.

"I'm sorry, Rin, I'm not trying to be so down, I can't help it sometimes." She could feel a sob building up in her throat, but she tried her best to overcome it. "I, uh, have something I need to do. I'll meet you back at the Pokemon Center in a little bit, okay?" The small girl forced a smile, straightening herself up. "Don't worry, I'll see you soon!" With that, she ran off, much in the same direction the Slowpoke had been heading. It hadn't gone too far, and she surpassed it rather quickly, doing her best to suppress her sobs as she ran.

"Ah Nidoking's do tend to want to show off to Nidoqueen's it does make sense." Violet said. She spotted the cute little Vulpix on Keegan's shoulder and smiled brightly. "Oh how cute!" She exclaimed and carefully plucked Helios from Keegan's shoulder and cuddled him to her chest. "Aren't you the cutest little Vulpix I have ever seen?" She said happily cooing a bit.

Seeing the behavior of his mom, and figuring that his gym battle would be put off again he sighed slightly. "I can send Apollo and Bahamut to go look for him if you want." He asked. Meowth who was sitting on his shoulder was some what jealous of all the attention Violet was giving Helios. Levi just lounged happily in Dante's now messy hair.
