"...You see the surface, but my eyes see more...I see your intentions and fears. I see what you truly are..."It was quickly apparent that within the town-at-large, there was no safe place to hide. The alleys were occupied by the lower-level demons while the real monsters stalked the main streets and by-ways. Some demons had holed up inside of the empty warehouses and half-looted stores, while the few people who were left were long gone...evacuated to a shelter or staying with the JPs that Sako was with? Genji still didn't have a complete grasp of the town's situation, but he had a pretty good idea at this point. Everywhere was dangerous. Nobody was safe. And this town...unless they could figure out a way to clear out the demons with the few of them that remained, Inaba would remain lost. He cared about all of those things, but he didn't have the power to openly challenge all of the demons. Not yet...and if the people were at the shelter they were safer than he could make them for the moment.
One thing at a time...that was the only way to approach it. He cleared out a horde of lesser devils from an alley with more of a fight than he would have liked, but he was still woefully underleveled. Minori Koroko  An ambush?!
The girl turned to her back, and then to her front, a little noise escaping her lips at the predicament she found herself in. She had been too preoccupied about the idea of someone being on the streets just a few blocks away from her, that she had fallen right into the demons' trap. What she had believed would be a rather easy battle against a Hamsa, turned into a real nightmare as a group of Yomotsu Ikusa appeared all around her. The bony warriors of the Death closed in on her, and the girl could only take her stance... summoning forth her own demons to even the odds a little.
One of them made the first move... and Minori stroke back. She parried the blows coming at her from the staff, avoiding by a hair the blade that swung at her chest. She slashed at one of them, and pulled her spear back, hitting one other with the staff that was coming at her from behind. A yelp escaped her when one of the blades bit at her back, only to whirl and stab the demon with her spear. Her demons were doing their job well... each Ikusa turning into magnetite. The last one she got with a swing of Vega at the demon's head...and as the head rolled to the floor and dissolved... the tired girl fell to her knees breathing heavily.
"Just... a few minutes." She needed to catch her breath... She needed to find a safe place.

"...You see the surface, but my eyes see more...I see your intentions and fears. I see what you truly are..."Demons...Genji ducked around a corner, more demons...he slipped inside of the empty warehouse's back door...more demons. There wasn't a corner he could turn right now that wouldn't reveal the threat of the demons waiting for him, it seemed. Dealing with the weak devils hiding out in the warehouse (but not too scared to attack him on sight) as quickly as he could, he moved towards the front door to take a look out into the main road. His breathing was a little heavy, but long years of physical training were paying off in spades today, keeping him upright and running at as close to his full potential as could be hoped for right now. Practiced hands pried the front door open just a crack, and his sharp eyes peered outside at a clashing of steel and the sound of a single melodic voice amidst a chorus of ragged, devilish howling. But what he saw wasn't a woman being cornered...it was a woman fighting back. His eyes widened...it wasn't simply a woman, but a blonde woman...a blonde woman with a spear...and as she put her spear through the last one she seemed to let her guard down.
Only it wasn't the last one, an Ikusa that had been felled but not beaten lurched back to its feet and raised its spear overhead silently, ready to bring it down into the back of the girl's neck and do what its brothers could not...
...
Instead, the devil exploded into a wicked pile of shattered bones all about the girl, clattering in such a fashion that she could not help but turn to look at what stood behind her. And it was a young man with his palm extended outward, a determined little pixie flitting about over his shoulder, his expression somewhere between the ferocity of his desperate strike and seven day's worth of isolation and loss and relief playing out across handsome, pale features all in a matter of moments.

Minori Koroko Bones and guts exploded all around her, and the girl turned at the sudden movement, only to see the spear of a lonesome Ikusa clattering to the floor where the demon had been, before it too dissolved into magnetite. And in its stead, there he stood with unruly pink hair, exhausted and scared... and as handsome as she remembered him.
"Genji...?"
She couldn't believe her eyes... green orbs widening at the welcoming sight before her. In an instant, all tension left her... and tears that had been locked in for seven days... tears she had willed herself not to spill, ran freely then. "Geeeeeenji!" The girl was sliding her arms around him in a tight embrace instantly, her face burrowing into his neck. She had missed his scent... his touch. She had missed him so much. "I was so worried..." the girl hiccuped between sobs, never letting go of the pink haired heir. "I was starting to believe... I wouldn't find you." The girl looked up, her reddened eyes on his... a bright smile on her lips despite the girl's wrecked state. "I... I am so glad you are here."

Words left him just as her own began to spill, and when the blond all but tackled him to pull him to her he brushed his hands through her hair and smiled faintly, pressing a small kiss to her temple as a moment of beautiful serendipity at last came to pass for the both of them. Demons could have the city, the world could be shrinking with every minute, but finding her amidst this endless dark before the end was priceless. He didn't need to say anything, letting his physical shape, his presence, lend proof to his survival against all odds. After seven days...after wondering almost without hope, certain that he was never going to see her again...he had found the only person (apart from the team) left that he could not afford to lose.
"I missed you, too," he answered her simply, too exhausted after the ordeals they had faced to really say much more beyond that. His palm gently brushed the side of her cheek as he leaned in and kissed her just once...softly, lingering only a few seconds, but long enough to savor the relief of the moment just a little before pulling away and letting his lips curl into a small smile. "It is not safe out in the open like this. We need to move..."
It was almost painful to end their moment of reunion so suddenly. Yet he knew that there was no other choice. Another horde of demons could be heard in the distance and around a corner, but they were coming this way. If they were here when they arrived...he still didn't have the power in his devils to defeat the stronger ones in a group. And now that he had found her, there was no chance in Hell that he would allow the demons to touch Minori again.
