All Penny could do was nodd when Danielle left for the beach. She looked down at the ground for a second and felt it was best to respect Dani's wishes. Watching her ascend down the beach, Penny collected herself and went back inside the restaraunt to rejoin the team.
"She okay?" Jamie asked Penny when she sat down.
Penny shook her head, "No, she wants to be left alone... but you're the closest to her right now, Jamie... maybe you should try talking to her later?"
Jamie nodded and she picked at her food for a bit. Jacen leaned in and asked her if she was okay. She turned to him and answered, "Sorry, I'll be fine."

Blair didn't hear Morgan's question about his tattoo, his mind was swirling. The pain of the tattoo Morgan was recieving kicked his empathy powers into overdrive. He felt the needle jabbing into Morgan's skin magnified each time he did.
Following Morgan outside to the weapon shop, he felt the emotions of a lover's quarrel somewhere nearby and it felt like it was ripping him in half as the two yelled at each other.
Head spinning and mind unable to focus, Blair looked around the weapon shop but couldn't find what he wanted. He then followed Morgan outside, to meet up with the group.
The empathy surge was starting to subside when they reached the restaurant because he couldn't feel the feelings between Penny and Jacen quite as vividly. He enjoyed the show of the restaurant and began to eat his chicken quietly when Danielle suddenly up and ran off.
Confused by her leaving, he looked back at his plate and tried to remain calm and focused.
"Maybe talking would help", he thought.

Danielle sat on the beach thinking to herself. 'Why would he be back? What does he want?' 'No it's not him. It can't be.' 'Who else would it be?' She began to cry, thinking about the possibility it could be Marvin. She thought about how he used come home drunk and beat her, and yell at her all the time. Danielle got up and walked to the beach house crying. She walked in her room and crawled in her bed, and cryed herself to sleep.

"Collage seems like forever away. It's really a bummer. I can see myself at a coffee shop in NYC with my laptop writing ace papers." She said, in a day-dreamy tone. "Not that I'm gunna pull a Nicole a go straight all of a sudden." Corky quickly added. She loved the party scene, it was just that she was pretty sure by collage she would sober up. Columbia wasn't exactly a party school.
"So, you work this thing like a motor cycle, I'm assuming?" She didn't say how she knew to ride a motor cycle. They'd have to figure that out themselves. There was tons people here didn't know about her. Courtney figured most though she was a ditzy, dumb, party girl. But it wasn't like she was doing much to help that image change. She was only going to be here for two more weeks, right? These people would barely be a footnote in the seven book series that was her life biography.

Jamie watched Danielle leave, and nodded when Penny said he should go talk to her later. He started eating his lunch, and let the glorious taste wash over him. He stayed silent and listened to the others for awhile, until he turned to Blair. "Hey man, are you alright? You seem a little. . . conflicted."
Jamie thought back to the file he had read on Blair before going into battle against Pharoah. When he remembered what they were, he looked back at Blair. You having a little trouble with your powers?"

Corky's daydream sounded just like Victoria's, which was kinda weird. But maybe it wasn't too surprising seeing as they were on the same side of this evolutionary war.
"Um..I'm assuming it works like a motorcycle." Se looked down at the jet ski and raised her eyebrows. Although she had never ridden a motorcycle (parent's said it was too dangerous) it seemed to be pretty straight forward. Eyes glazing over slightly, she thought about the first thing she would buy when she moved out on her own would be a motorcycle and all the bling that goes with it.
Snapping back to reality she looked at Corky. "So," she said smirking, "Do ya wanna see what these things can do and have a little race."

|| -gasp- Does Victoria have a thing for leather? Heh, never would have guessed....||
She rolled her eyes. Hello, where was she fifteen minutes ago when Corky said she had never ridden one before? "Uh, no. You wanna race, give me twenty minutes on this STD-ridden thing first." She pulled the red jet ski out of it's dock, thinking of the best way to work it. It looked like motorcycle, except on water. How hard could be? Without waiting for Victoria, she got on and found her center of balance, the jet ski floating up in down in the waves.
"These things better go ******** fast. I could use an adrenalin rush."

((Actually, I don't own any leather but WHEN I eventually get a motorcycle, I'm getting a tricked out leather jacket to match. biggrin ))
Victoria nodded her head thoughtfully, as Corky mounted the jet ski. Figuring that it was only fair to let Corky "test drive" the thing first, she sat and waited calmly in the mid-day sun. The weather was nice...perfect even considering it was July. A slight wind from the East blew across the water and tickled her partly uncovered back. Wait a second.... Remembering something important Victoria quickly hopped off the jet ski and ran back into the rental house, leaving Corky to find her sea legs.
Within a few minutes, she returned, carrying a pair of brightly colored life vests. After slipping the blue one on herself, she waded over a bit to Corky. "Here," she said, holding out a red and black life vest. "Hope this'll make you feel a bit more comfortable."

Jacen didn't sit there oblivious to it all. Beyond the meal of steak he was eating, he also had a feast of overwhelming sadness. Something triggered a rather deep seeded feeling of fear, anxiety, and sorrow in young Danielle.
"You know," Jacen said quietly to Penance, "It's a good thing that I don't have to directly 'feed' from people's emotions anymore...."
"Why not?," Penance asked as she met her ashen gray eyes to his jet-black ocular devices.
"Because. I'd have overloaded. Something's seriously wrong with that girl. Something bad to trigger all of those negative emotions."
"Overloaded?"
"Yes," Jacen said after taking a drink of his beverage, "It's happened once before. I took into too many negative vibes, and it affected me. Badly....the only one who could help me was my telepath friend."
"And it seems you're fine now," Penance said as she rested her hand on his shoulder.
"Of course," Jacen said with a smile, "Emma is quite gifted at repairing one's psyche. Of course, she's that much more gifted at destroying someone's mind...." Jacen knew that Emma was relatively dangerous if provoked.. or not provoked.
"Anyways, this meal's great, Evie. Thanks for the suggestion."

Blair looked at Jamie and smiled.
"Trouble with my powers? No, I'm fine. Just too much emotion for me today....and Danielle's outburst of raw emotion didn't help my headache. Oi."
He went back to eating his chicken and tried to remain focused on the people around him and not the entire room. He started listening to Jacen and Penny talk to keep his mind off of things.

OOC: "jet-black ocular devices" Reiver, you smooth talker you. wink
IC:
"You're welcome. Hang out with me enough and new things are about to happen," She pushed her plate away from her. Her stomach was going to explode if she ate anything more. The waitress brought their check and Penny picked it from the table before anybody had a chance to glance at it, "I've got it."
"Are you sure?"
"Yea, don't worry about it," She said and took it up to the register to pay and handed the girl her credit card. Her dad had a sudden guilt complex over the past few months and decided that free access to a credit card was the way to apologize for being a total a*****e for five years. It was against her better judgement to accept it but everybody has a few deadly sins in them.
"I don't know about you guys, but I think I'm ready to head back to the beach house for a swim. It's getting hot out here," Penny picked up hers and Danielle's left behind belongings and started walking with at least Jacen back down the boardwalk towards the beach house. He took Danielle's board away from Penny to carry.
She sighed and started talking to Jacen, "Well that was a downer to lunch. I just can't get out of my head how upset she was and she wouldn't open up about it. I'm not used to that. My team usually confides in me what's going on."
"You can't force people to do things they don't want, but you know that. You let her know she could trust you, that's about all you can do," He tried to make her feel better which only sort of helped, "And you aren't usually the type to let everybody elses bad day get her down. So cheer up."
Penny smiled again because he was right. She couldn't control how Danielle felt and she did all she could. Seeing random flyers scattered near the way to the Beach house Penny picked one up and read it, "Freya... freya... what are you doing? Up for a game of volleyball?"

"Well this might be interesting," Porter said handing the flyer to Regina as they walked into the back gate of the beach house. They waved to Teagan who had been enjoying the quiet. He saw Freya and Wanda hanging out down around the beach and yelled out, "Hey Freya, I'll bite. Just tell me when the game starts."
"We could get a good team going here," He sat down on one of the lawn chairs and joked with Regina, "You going to play or be one of our X-Cheerleaders?"

Regina shrugged. "I'm not one for cheerleading, that's for damn sure. So I'll play. Could be fun... But I worry about those two running the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, I like them both just fine but Freya's got to be plotting something..."
"What do you mean?" Porter asked as they headed inside and Regina made a beeline for the kitchen to begin contemplating dinner.
"She's got this look in her eyes when she looks at me. It's not... nothing. That much I can tell. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it..." she continued as she looked at their stock of food and wondered what would be good for the night.

Corky smiled. Horray, life vests. It would definately help, now she only had to worry about getting eaten by a shark, or the sexually transmited diseases. "Thanks. Ohh, you got the ones that match. Classic!" Victoria got her stamp of approval for shying away from the ugly bright orange ones. Courtney guessed that neither of the girls really needed the lifejackets, but it was probably some regulation that they had to wear them.
"Well, Lead Me, O' Leader." Corky quoted, while splashing some water onto her legs, shoulders, and back. She'd be damned if she didn't get a tan from all this, especially since she looked as white as Vanilla Ice. When she stayed at Isle de la Paix, she had gotten so tan her friends said she looked black. It lasted till spring break, way longer than any of the other wannabe's. But it wasn't like it was the beach's fault. She knew that, she was just acting like a b***h today. The alcohol must be wearing off.

"I thought you'd never ask!" Making sure her life jacket was on properly, Victoria hopped back onto her jet ski and revved it up. The motor purred beautifilly underneath her as she cranked the handle and sped off into the horizon.
It was great. The jet ski gave her the adrenalin rush that she loved in only a matter of seconds. When she was about 50 yards from shore the water became choppy enough to be exciting, but not so much that it was scarry. Caught up in the adrenline moment, she forgot about Corky and politely eased up on the gas and waited, enjoying the dancing blue water as she waited.
