"I can see it in the way he looks at her. And he always compliments her and he's a real gentleman. When I first met him he was very happy to see Mommy, and he kissed her hand," she thought about it after she spoke. Her brows furrowed and she wasn't sure for a minute how that made her feel, to think that someone that wasn't her father might be interested in Liv. But since she was still a girl after all, she didn't think much of it after that. Not to mention, she did like Mishka, so she didn't feel any kind of threat like some children might have.
Luci's eyes lit up at the sight of the shop. She pressed her nose to the glass until Sil opened the door for her, and she jumped inside with excitement. She liked all the animals, but cats were her favorite, so it was probably to no surprise when she made a b-line for the kitten section. She squealed at the sight of them, and when they all looked up at her with their round eyes as they started to mewl, she melted on the spot. She wanted one so badly she could cry.

I saw you were offline earlier and thought you had left already ;3; Sleep well hun! Glad you had fun! c: <333))
A pleased and slightly knowing smile touched her features. It was wonderful to hear that Mishka was treating Liv so well even if Liv was insisting at the moment that she wanted nothing more to be friends with the friendly young doctor that seemed to bring out the best in everyone. "You're right, he does sound exactly like a prince," she said, following Luci through the pet shop straight back to the kittens.
The little kittens with their tiny, fuzzy little bodies made a part of Sil die on the inside, and it would take all of her will power not to buy all of the kittens on site. She spotted a little white one that reminded her of the cat she had back home-- she barely remembered Ano being that size once upon a time. While the pet shop owner wasn't looking, she slipped a hand inside and scooped up a little orange one with a cream centered belly. It mewed softly as she carefully cupped it in her hands, offering it for Luci to pet and touch. "This one reminds me a little bit of an orange popcicle-- you know, the kind with the white vanilla cream flavor in the middle?"

Luci gushed at the orange kitten, the tiny squeak of a meow mimicked from her own lips as she wiggled around. She could hardly contain herself as she reached to scratch the top of the kitten's head, "It looks just like that!"

"Which color is your favorite?" Sil asked curiously, watching the girl as she so carefully pet the kitten. It was adorable how enamored by the little creature she held in her hands, her smile unwavering as she watched her curiosity pique. She was glad to spend a worry free day with the youngster, feeling much more alive and vibrant enjoying silly little things like kittens in petshops and stories about fairytales. Part of her wondered what it would be like to take care of a youngster every day, and that same part of her felt a little bitter sadness. "They have just about every color in here, don't they?"

Luci was thoughtful, looking at all the kittens before giving her answer, looking back at Sil with such a true expression, "...It doesn't matter to me what color. I just want whichever one loves me."

"That's a good way to look at things," Sil smiled gently, hoping that Luci was so easy going in other parts of her life as she was with kittens. A small, long haired greyish kitten with bright blue eyes peeked its head curiously over at them, seeming intrigued by the two newcomers giving his orange and cream sister so much attention. "That one seems to like you already," Sil noted, pointing to the kitten so the little girl could pick it up and hold it if she wished.

Luci blinked a little and then looked to where Sil indicated the grey fuzzball. Instantly she melted at its bright eyes, just like her own. She looked at Sil to see if it was okay to pick the kitten up before taking it into her arms. The kitten continued to stare up at Luci and reached a paw up, swatting gently at her curls. He made the tiniest of mews, huddling against Luci's body for warmth, the familiar rumbling of purring starting up like an engine. Luci was in love.
"He really likes me," she whispered, not wanting to disturb the kitten as it curled against her. She leaned her face down to nuzzle against the tiny body of the kitten, feeling the soft fur against her cheek.
She stayed there like that for a while, as long as she could before she felt it was time to give the kitten up. She didn't want to get yelled at, so she tried her best to move the kitten without waking it. However, the instant she tried to move him away from her body, he stirred and made another cry, digging his little claws into Luci's dress. She pouted a little and tried to get him to let go, but to no avail. She looked at the kitten's face and saw the plea, and in that moment she broke.
"He..he doesn't want to let me go," Luci looked up at Sil, her eyes starting to water, "He loves me already, but I...I can't keep hiiiim!" she started to blubber at the unconditional love the kitten was expressing towards her. It didn't even seem bothered by her tears, choosing to swat at her cheek with a soft paw, claws away.

Sil tilted her head a little, her own curls sliding along her shoulder behind her back as she watched Luci bond with the sweet little thing she had picked up. As the kitten curled the young woman slid a little closer to the little girl and brushed her gloved fingers gently along the kitten's ears, watching them flick ever-so lightly as the tips of them grazed the curves and angles.
"He does really like you," Sil agreed, her voice quiet and reverent much like Luci's, as though the sound of her normal voice might scare the kitten and ruin the moment. Though she didn't like to admit it, she had a soft spot for baby animals as well, not just children. When she had gotten her own cat he had been a dirty, abused and abandoned thing that someone had been kicking around on the street for his strange eye anomaly. Even if she tried to cover up that soft spot in her heart, brick it up with a tough exterior and a take-no-s**t attitude, all it took was a look to bring the whole wall crashing in.
Luci had already wiggled her way quite soundly into her heart. Maybe she had a leg up because she was Liv's child, or she was just enamored with her sweet personality, or maybe she just simply liked the girl, it was hard to tell. Either way, when she turned and looked at her with those big watery eyes and started to sob into the kittens fur, she swore that a part of her soul literally curled up and died somewhere inside of her.
"Aw crap," she muttered, flabbergasted as to how she was meant to act in this situation. "Aw Luci, please don't cry..." As she tried to think of something to say to console the girl, nothing came to her lips. She didn't know how to explain that the kitten probably wasn't trying to keep her, that the little thing was probably that friendly to everyone he met, but the words just wouldn't come. They seemed cruel and cheap, unexplanatory. "He's just... he... it's just..."
She rubbed her back for a minute trying to soothe her tears to no avail, and after a long exasperated moment she couldn't believe the words that came out of her mouth. She stood up suddenly, motioned to the shop keeper and grimaced slightly as she sighed: "How much is the adoption fee...?"
