Luci gasped and her eyes widened, "You have a kitty?"
She was instantly jealous. She had a kitten back at the mansion but wasn't able to bring it with her. She missed it terribly and was dying to have another fuzzy companion. Luckily she was distracted by Lavi entering the room. As was her habit now, she bolted from the couch to throw her arms around him in a hug.
"We're going to the pet shop!"

"The pet shop?" Lavi repeated, mimicking her excitement. "Sounds like fun." The fact that she seemed so enthusiastic about learning of Sil's cat and the trip to the pet shop gave him a little more confidence in his choice of gift. He brought back one hand from behind his back to lightly pat her head as she hugged him, the other still holding onto the little box.
"Well, before you go, I have something for you." His smile widened as the other hand also reappeared from behind his back with a dramatic flourish as if he'd just conjured the present out of thin air. "As promised~" Despite the slight reassurance from before, he was still feeling a little nervous as he held out the box to her, hoping she wouldn't hate it. Little kids could be really unforgiving sometimes.
Inside the box was a small, silver charm bracelet with a single charm on it, a silver kitty with a collar of sparkly stones. "You were playing with a kitty when we met, right?" He explained, scratching his cheek and wondering whether jewelry was even the right gift for a five year old. It was usually one of the first things he thought of for girls in general. "You can take it off and put something else on it if you don't like it, or add others..."

Luci nodded vigorously with a grin, "Lots of fun! - You have something for me?"
She tilted her head inquisitively and released him as he surprised her with the gift. She hadn't forgotten, but it had been in the back of her mind for a while, so she was genuinely surprised. Her eyes lit up like never before and she pounced on the box, ripping the wrapping off unceremoniously. When she opened the box her large grin started to fade. She wasn't disappointed in the least; She was actually so struck by the thoughtful gift, she didn't know how to process her emotions.
Biting her lip, she could feel her eyes watering and she looked up at Lavi with such a complete love and adoration. She nodded in response to his first question and then shook her head after, her curls swaying with the movement.
"No, Lavi. It's p-perfect," she threw her arms around him again, burying her face against his stomach as she tried not to cry. She squeezed him like she had never squeezed before.

And now enters the most pathetic moment in Sil's life and she will deny it til the day she dies... : D LOL

Of course, Sil couldn't help but be curious and just slightly nosy as Lavi flourished the gift for the child. Watching her face light up at the sight of the gift warmed her heart and it wasn't the first or the last time she had to appreciate what a wonderful heart Lavi had inside of him. It would have been so easy for him to simply disregard his own word, especially to a young forgetful girl, but of course he had fulfilled his promise.
The gift was, of course, sweet and thoughtful as his gifts tended to be. Even from the couch she could see it was a charm bracelet and from what Lavi said she inferred there must have been a kitten attached as the first charm. It was cute, and she may or may not have mouthed a completely silent 'aww' before covering her lips with the tips of her fingers.
However, Luci's reaction did her in. There was something about children and happiness that triggered an emotional response in her that she just could not explain. It felt so wrong for children to be sad, hurt, abused like they often were in their world, so to see a child so happy and touched by something touched her deeply. Tears sprung to her eyes before she knew it, and since the other two were distracted she quickly jumped off of the couch and cleared her throat, walking near to the window like there was something insanely interesting happening outside of it. It was only enough to wet her lashes before being blinked away, but she brushed her fingers along her lids just to be safe.

Lavi intently watched Luci's face as she opened her gift and looked inside. His heart dropped for a second as the smile disappeared from her face, his own faltering as well, and he was already starting to rake his mind for other possible gift ideas if this one had disappointed so. When she looked back up at him, though, her expression had him a little taken aback. He hadn't expected her reaction to be quite so strong, although he was glad he had read the first one wrong and she did actually like it.
The smile slowly reappeared on his face as she hugged him tight and he wrapped his arms around her small form. Her touched reaction had him a little shaken as well and he had to swallow hard to clear the lump that had formed in his throat before he spoke. "I'm glad you like it."

"I love it...thank you," she replied quietly, keeping the hold on him for a while longer. She squeezed him tighter still and her little heart nearly burst, "I love you..."
In that moment, Luci couldn't help thinking of her father. It was such a bittersweet moment for the young girl. She adored Lavi, and he was so wonderful to her, but it reminded her she no longer had her father in her everyday life. She cherished the feel of Lavi in her arms, and his returned touch. Lavi was something of an uncle to her she felt, and it was the closest she had to a father now.

I-I'm sorry... she can't interrupt... can't DB LOL. ))
Sil managed to compose herself, a smile on her face not only from her own reaction but at the sight of the loving embrace. After a moment she just silently moved over to the nearest wall, simply watching the display as she leaned a shoulder against it. Her eyes were soft, luckily no longer tearing as they were before, and she simply waited. Nothing would make her interrupt this moment, not when Luci was so happy. The pet shop could wait until the two of them were finished.
It was an odd mixture of feelings; Sil had never really seen Lavi interact much with children other than Chaoe briefly and Luci seemed so taken with him already that it was heartwarming. It hadn't really occurred to her before that Lavi was missing out on even more aspects than she had really considered; more than likely he'd never experience the opportunity of having his own family. It was a slightly bitter-tasting thought, but at the same time with Luci he seemed to have picked up a little surrogate that wasn't his and wouldn't get him in trouble. It was ideal.
