Ratata appeared in a beam of red light as Train caught the pokeball she had tossed into the air.
"Ratata, Quick Attack!" Train commanded. Ratata became a blur as it dissapeared, then reapearred, slamming into the grass pokemon.
The Shroomish squirmed to it's feet. It charged at Ratata in a Tackle, slamming into it with less power than Ratata had done to it. "Shroom!" It said, and landed as Ratata shook of the small pain.

Comfortably and slowly, M.A. roused herself from sleep, lying there with her eyes closed for a good five minutes after she technically was awake. Finally, she picked herself up, sitting half under her covers and stretching with a teary yawn. A moment later, an unconsciously goofy grin placed itself firmly on her lips, as she noted her still-sleeping Pokemon and friend.
The sun was shining brightly outside -- a good omen? She hoped so. Whether or not it was, she had awoken in a good mood. And when she remembered that today was the day of her first Gym battle (hopefully), a quiver of nervous excitement rushed down her spine. What would Michael say if he saw his little sister takin' on a Gym leader?
Finally getting up and trying her best not to wake up Ulani as she did so (for the bird had slept on her lap), she excused herself to the bathrooms to wash up. Finding a cute blue band Michael had given her in her pocket, she tied her hair up in a comfortable, relaxed way, letting some of the shorter bangs fall around her face. I like it, she thought with easy simplicity, smiling broadly.
She figured she'd challenge Bugsy early, if possible. Next step for the morning would definately be breakfast. Last night's sandwich hadn't filled her in the least. So, humming a cheerful little ditty, she cruised into the cafeteria, heaping a ton of food for both herself and her Pokemon on a tray. The brunette placed her little platter on a table not a moment too soon -- just before Daemyn, Tora, and Ulani had found her. A jumble of Pokemon and M.A. ensued; Ulani perched on M.A.'s head, singing; Daemyn hopped up and down energetically, obviously pumped; Tora nearly knocked her over again with her strength. "Why, good morning!" she laughed, rubbing them all affectionately. "I bet you're hungry too. . . Ready for the battle today?" The trio nodded eagerly; noticeably, Daemyn and Tora looked almost more hungry for the battle than the food on the table.
Looking around, she didn't see Ky anywhere. Sweet Nurse Joy had moved him elsewhere for comfort.

Last night: Ky woke up a little when Nurse Joy nudged him. "Ky... Ky..." she said softly. "You're going to wake up sore if you sleep here. Come with me." With a small yawn and a quick nod, Ky got up, still cradling Little Guy in his arms who was still fast asleep. As he followed Nurse Joy, he walked in a stupor-like trance, not really reacting to anything. Nurse Joy led him to a room behind the main desk, back where the critcal-care patients were kept before release. Before he was laid down, Nurse Joy gave him a full glass of water to drink. What she didn't mention to M.A. was that Ky looked a bit dehydrated and so she took this time to make sure he'd be healthy for tomorrow. Just in case, she went through the normal basic tests for heart rate, breathing and the like. He turned out fine, but she knew she'd have to scold him later for not taking better care of himself. She then helped him get into bed as well as place Little Guy on a small bed set up nearby. To her surprise, she found a tear rolling down Ky's cheek. He had fallen back asleep and it was apparent that he was having a bad dream. Unable to help, Nurse Joy left Ky to dream, turned off the lights and went back to her night post.
The night passed by, as well as the morning, and Ky was still asleep by the time M.A. was up.

As Kilik headed out of the locker rooms, towards the main lobby, a collection of footsteps was heard behind him. He paused and turned around. A group of people were standing there, all looking at him in awe. "What?" he raised an eyebrow. The group didn't say a word - they just continued looking at him. "Ooookay. I'm...going now," he turned around and started walking. The footsteps picked up again. He paused and so did the group. When he walked, they walked.
This continued on for about five more minutes before Kilik whipped around. "Stop following me!" he barked, "Tell me what you want!" One person took a step forward. It was a fairly short boy, and he only came up to Kilik's shoulder. The trainer looked down and sighed.
"Well," he looked over his shoulder at the other people in the group, "We think that you're really cool!" he blurted, "And...we just wanted you to know that." He turned back to the group and suddenly felt himself shoved out. "No! You do it!" A collection of murmurs through the group emitted before he sighed. "And...I was wondering if I could battle you." He smiled.
Kilik blinked and shook his head. "Look, kid, I'm tired," he said, "I've just gone a sleepless night followed by a Pokemon battle against a very talented and attractive girl in front of the entire world." He crossed his arms and turned his back, "Sorry."
The boy sighed and turned back to the group, entering the clump of people. A tall scrawny man came forth. He had a handle bar mustache and a very Asian-like appearance. He smiled, a few teeth missing. "Are you afraid, boy?" he placed a hand on the young boy's shoulder and launched him forward. "If you're afraid of challenges, how will you get any stronger?"
Kilik paused and turned around again. "Kilik Ranmo isn't afraid. I'll battle the kid," he pointed at the old man, "And then I want you to leave me alone. Got that?" He scowled. The old man nodded, then looked at the younger child. The boy looked up and sighed, turning to look at Kilik. Walking forward, he gulped. "The two of us will battle outside the Arena," Kilik explained, "Right by the Pokemon Center would do nicely."
"...Okay.." he whispered, "My name is James, but some people call me Jimmy..."
"I'll call you 'kid'," Kilik said, turning around one last time. As he walked out of the Arena, the group followed him, eager to watch his next battle. He sighed. Maybe getting so public was a bad idea.

"Ratata, Bite!" Train called out, grinning. She watched as the mess of purple and white fur that was Ratata shot out at Shroomish and bit it--hard. the Shroomish made a sort of squeal in pain and fell over sideways, fainting.
"Yeah! Alright, Ratata! You did it! Another score for us!" Train said enthusiastically. She let the mouse pokemon stay out and ventured farther into the forest.

((Sorry it's a lame post...))
After his face calmed down and was a more healthy shade, Mag and Linalee made their way over to the cafeteria to eat breakfast and expand on their next course of action. "So I was talking with my grandparents before you got up and they said that I could go train up at their ranch before I got do another gym battle." Mag said after a mouthful of his standard breakfast, waffles and peanut butter. "That sounds like a good idea. We could learn a lot about battling from your grandfather. I heard he was pretty strong when he was younger." Linalee replied eating after more of the same meal. She too had been infected by Mag's peanutbuttery habbits when they were younger and continued the trend after she moved away.

The four ate their breakfast leisurely, for the most part. Well, at least Ulani and her trainer did; Daemyn and Tora, on the other hand, seemed to want to compete in every possible arena, and were now racing to finish their respective bowls. They were getting along remarkably well, M.A. thought cheerfully.
Mary-Anne glanced up everytime a trainer entered the room, in the case that she might see her young friend -- but as that was not the case, she smiled amiably at anyone and everyone who passed. A simple smile, a simple "good morning," was sometimes enough to brighten someone's day; unconsciously, she was bringing a bit more sunlight into the already bright room.
They finished up promptly, and M.A. sat there for another moment or so, simply waiting for Ky. Hopefully he was having a good sleep -- after all, yesterday must've been exhausting for him. Maybe she should leave without him? Would he want to see her battle against Bugsy? She'd wait until he woke up fully rested and ask him then.

After a good night's rest, Ky woke up with a long stretch and a deep yawn. The bed that Nurse Joy had moved him to was incredibly comfortable and it almost made him want to stay there the whole day. Of course, Little Guy was not awake, so Ky playfully flicked him in the beak, which was returned by an angry bite to his finger. "Ow! Jeez you're getting quick!" Ky laughed, bringing his finger to his mouth to ease the pain. Little Guy grunted in frustration before jumping up to Ky's shoulder.
"Good morning Ky!" Nurse Joy called out from the front desk before heading over to the room he was in. "Here's Sting." She gave him the Pokeball then gave him a wink. "I think your girlfriend's waiting for you," she said, patting his head.
Ky then gave a predictable blush, not quite sure what to say to that. So, he instead walked out of the room and searched for M.A., soon finding her at a table eating breakfast with all of her Pokemon. "Hey M.A. Have a good sleep?" Ky asked. "Sorry if I made you wait. I was really tired last night."

Seeing no way to dodge the large web-like attack, the Clefairy charged and jumped through its center, thrashing its small claws as best as it could to tear through the webbing. Though she was successful, it did manage to slow her down, but it was better having the stuff stick to her body than possibly latch her to the ground. "That was quite a nice attack," Jeremy said in a mocking tone. "This calls for an Encore, Clefairy!" Hearing her trainer's orders the Clefairy began to compliment the Ariados's String Shot. "Hm. You got me pretty good with that one, Ariados. But I wonder, could you stop me in my tracks? I'd like to see you try," she taunted in Pokespeak. Of course, hidden within her speech was a mesmorizing sound pattern, capable of hypnotizing the Ariados to do her bidding; in this case, repeating her most recent move many times.

"Of course, I'd love to meet your dad," Keegan replied earnestly. "He's the leader in Vermilion, you said? Hmm, I wonder… If I were to challenge him, would I stand a chance?" the redhead murmured to himself, thinking about how nice it would be to show his parents a badge from a different region entirely. He also pondered the idea of what kind of Pokemon the Vermilion leader specialized in, but he decided not to question it; after all, he'd find out soon enough. The boy cleared his throat, and smiled down at the girl holding onto his hand. "We should catch up to the others," he said with a smirk, "otherwise they're gonna think badly of us." With that being said, he leaned down and planted a kiss on her forehead. "Shall we?"

Steffi awoke as the crack of dawn filled the room. She had fallen asleep on Sparky's table. He was already awake, staring wide-eyed at Steffi, his left ear bent down as usual. He had even been taken out of his care box. Steffi hugged the Pikachu really hard, as the nurse entered the room.
"He refused to leave your side, even after he was awake. He growled at anyone who came to take him to his pokeball, away from you." the nurse explained.
Steffi looked at Sparky, digesting what she had heard. Had Sparky looked over her more than she was supposed to watch over him? She giggled in histerics as Sparky grumbled confusedly,
"Pika?"
"Thank you very much," Steffi chanted as she bowed to the nurse before leaving the pokemon center. Turning to her Pikachu, she asked him,
"Where should be go now, Sparky?" Sparky was nicely being cradled in her arms. He pulled up his fists and curled them, letting out a few sparks from his bright red cheeks, showing he wanted to fight.
"You want to battle again? Are you sure?" she asked him.
"Pika!!" he shouted in excitement.

Allegra tossed a look over her shoulder at her new backup singer, and grinned. The power of their combined singing efforts caused both interlopers to fall from their makeshift perches with a thud, and into the light. Both pink Pokemon could see now that they were facing a pair of Rattata. The rats both had purple, although dirty and tangled fur, as well as large fangs protruding from under their upper lips. The sudden tumble caused the Skitty to stop her song rather abruptly, and the sudden loss of the melody paired with the fall caused both opponents to open their eyes wide and shake off any remaining drowsiness that remained in their minds. Now, the Rattata were looking angry, evident by the growls they were now making.
The kitten grit her teeth and growled as well before she dashed towards the closest Rattata, turning on the spot and slapping it across the face with her tail repeatedly for a well-placed Doubleslap. The defender let out a startled gasp, wincing each time the appendage struck it. Growling, the little rodent snapped its teeth, sinking them into Allegra's tail for a counterattack Bite. The kitten squealed in pain, trying to shake off her attacker, but to no avail.

The sailor laughed at him and told them to get on. "Oh. I'm stupid. Don't agree Flametail!" Flametail laughed as well while Ray walked over to the boat. "Stop it. It's not that funny." His Charmander continued on laughing. They entered the boat and sat on the seats. He saw the time it took to get to Vermilion City. "What?! Oh great. It's going to be a long trip. And there's no girls around." Flametail sighed and slapped Ray across his face. Ray rubbed his face, "I should send you to those special schools." The two waited until they arrived at Vermilion City. ((Thanks darkmag, for the help.))

After a few hours, the two finally arrived at Vermilion City. "P-U! The air here isn't as fresh as the one on the island. I can't believe people live here without masks." He turned to his Charmander. "Any idea where we're supposed to go." Flametail pulled out the handbook and opened it up. He pointed to the map on the book. Ray replied, "Oh ok. To Pewter City. According to this, we have a very long way to go." Flametail nodded as he jumped on Ray's back and held on. "You're so lucky. I should of brought my bike." He walked from the docks heading towards the middle of the city. "Maybe we should rest first, but where? Any ideas Flametail?" Flametail shook his head no and shrugged. Ray looked around for any building that looked like a hotel. "We should of stayed home." His Charmander smacked the back of his head. "Char!"

"Judging by how well you did in the battle last night, I think you could beat him," Kasiya said truthfully, blushing a bit as his warm lips touched her forehead. "But yeah, you're right. They're probably talking about us right now," she giggled, motioning towards the door. "We'd best be going then." She cast a final glance at the arena, smiling at the memory of the battle, but mostly of Seto's performance. In her mind's eye she could still see the unruly little Meowth, and sometimes could still feel the sting of his claws tearing into her. She was proud of the feline Pokemon, and she could tell that he was proud of her, too.
She lead Keegan outside, glad to once again feel the warm sunshine on her face, arms and legs. It was a beautiful day. The anticipation of a rematch with her father was almost distracting, and for a moment Kasiya considered forgetting all about breakfast and just running south to Vermilion. She stopped herself though, and soon the group was on the road again.
