Most of the students have problems like that. BUt some of them dela with them better than others.
Wow, I just realized that my character is partially based off a person form this one book I read... XD

yeah... Laura was in denial for most of her life. WHen she first came to the institute she was all, "La de da my parents are still nice and love me and such"
but... then she got shot by her dad and it was a very harsh wake up call. 3nodding

Don is based off of... well... me.
Aside from the whole "accidentally killing my brother with my powers of unending AWESOME" aspect. No brother, and no powers. Outside of that, he's almost dead-on me.

I noticed that most people based these characteras off themselves. My life isn't quite so traumatic, so I based that off of Bridget from The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants But other things are mor elike me, liek how she looks, her birthday, her likes and dislikes, her P.o.B.

A friend of mine I have RPed with on MUDs for a good deal of time once told me that in most original-character RPs, people tend to make their characters portray their ideal view of themselves.

I'd have to disagree. I once made a character that was a gay guy. I'm a stright chick, and the person was nothing like me in my opinion or anyone else's that I'm aware of. ^ ^ His name was Mishu.

Hence, "tend to". Not always. I have a friend on a DBZ mud that made a psychotic female Bio-android gardener. He is none of those things.
