"I'm sure they're safe somewhere," Lin murmured thoughtfully.
At least she was sure if there was anything really wrong, Kerliahc and Leyenda would have gone looking for them by now.

Earendil nodded slowly. "I hope so," he murmured, "but I can't help but want to be sure ..."
Maybe he was a bit too much like his uncle Elrohir, but he couldn't help it.

Lin patted his shoulder, she understood that not knowing where someone was could be very nerve wracking.
"Well if they're not back before the evening, we'll see about looking for them," she replied.

Earendil nodded, looking around again, just in case he'd missed something. And then something did strike him - not as something that was wrong, but something that seemed ... very strange.
He stared at Alassëa, who seemed to be a perfect picture of health and strength.
"Lin," he said, suddenly confused, "when's the last time you heard of someone who could heal someone, but who didn't use up their own energy when they did it?"

Lin thought about it, and then thought about it some more. She had been healed on many occasions in the past back home.
"Never, if it seems like it, it often means they have much large magical reserves than most people why?"

Earendil shrugged one shoulder, the shoulder that Andarien's sling was not resting on.
"It just seems to me that Alassëa is the same now as she was before," he mused. "I don't know if that means she's got more magic than most, or if her magic is different than we realize."

"Both are possible, she could have larger reserves because she might have been forced to use it more often. Arthael mentioned she has no scars on her at all, that could be the product of her using it a lot to heal herself, or the fact she doesn't have scars is a bit unusual. Even healing a person if the wound is too deep will leave a scar."
After all Ryu still had that lovely bite mark because it had gone in too deep, and even with Ulani's healing it would never go away. Heck even Triton still had many of his scars and he had a lot of them, just in places where people couldn't see them.

Earendil touched one hand to his previously injured shoulder, and a thoughtful look crossed his face.
"I hadn't even thought to look and see if I have a scar," he mused. "I wonder if I will or not, if Alena says that Alassëa doesn't have any."

"If you don't, it would strongly suggest that her magic is a bit different than other people," Lin replied thoughtfully.
Though it did make her wonder, because either theory meant Alassëa was full of surprises.

"Pity she can't tell us herself, yet," Earendil grinned. "Though I have to admit, she's remembering quite quickly! Faster than I would have imagined. Sure, it's only been a few words so far, but clearly she understands much more than she can express."
He had to admit, he was quite impressed.

Lin nodded, "She is, and who knows when she finally stopped talking while being out here? I mean for all anyone knows maybe she managed to talk to the bird for years before she just stopped due to the lack of company."
She knew people talked to all sorts of things, animals, plants... dolls.

"That's true," Earendil agreed. "And for that matter, thought processes don't stop, and that requires language, even if it's not spoken. I think it quite probable that it's still all there, and jst needs to be unlocked or something like that."
As he watched, the woman smiled as the men laughed at something they were saying.
"Though of course, depending on how old she was when she was kidnapped, she could have quite the advanced knowledge, as well," he added. "We don't know how old she was when she ended up out here."

Lin nodded thoughtfully at that, "Who knows.... but she certainly seems to be very quick to remember things."
Which was a good thing, it would be a shame to leave Alassëa here just because she couldn't understand them.
"I hope she comes with us."

Earendil smiled warmly at Lin. "I hope so, too," he murmured softly. "For her sake, yes, but I also wouldn't feel right leaving her behind."
People belonged with other people, they weren't meant to be alone.
"So what do you want to do?" he asked her. "We've got time to do just about anything."

Time, now there was a thought. She knew they could be here for a long while so she hadn't thought about it.
"Probably see how everyone is doing, everything had been so hectic yesterday, and then the storm hit..."
