Great Tattooist Oni
I took a nap and slept through the election. I thought it was going to be a lot closer. I'm still impressed Obama scored Florida.

Seriously. That was a big win for him. I mean, knowing that California's got your back, 55 electoral votes...jeez. I just kept waiting for him to hit about 215 electoral votes before California came in, because then it would be over.

I still think it's pretty ridiculous how much power our state has in electing a president.

Prop 8 was passed here in CA, which is a shame. Personally I'm surprised that it was passed. The no on 8 movement was very vocal in my county. On a slightly happier note, it looks like we'll be getting that High Speed railway system...so that could be a good thing.

Oh, and markets are falling. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, Even if yesterday was a great day for America, we've still got a lot of work to do.

I'm just wondering how many republican naysayers are going to blame the market falling on Obama now. lol

Prop 8 as in "We Hate Gays" Prop 8? ********. Cali is important, but it's a base from which to attack, not an election decider. I mean Kerry had Cali and NY, and still lost. It's almost too much to believe that the good guys finally won. Wow.

As for the markets, ******** that s**t. All of Asia is up because Obama won. That went a long way to restoring market confidence. Besides, the Republicans tried to argue that there's such a delayed effect on the economy that the Bush led recession post 9-11 was caused by Clinton, and Clinton's boom was caused by Reagan. rofl

Assisted Suicide is now legal in Washington.

Its weird...I'm kind of surprised, but at the same I feel like I shouldn't be. I keep forgetting that just because the area I live in is conservative, doesn't mean the whole state is.

Have I ever mentioned how much I loathe where I live? surprised

@HeliosConverse:
I don't like being labeled a Democrat because I'd vote Republican if the candidate was worth my vote. John McCain is one candidate I would vote for if the circumstances were different. McCain vs. Kerry, I'd vote McCain, but right now I went Obama. Anywho, I knew Obama was going to win because the conservative attitude was that McCain was the lesser of two evils, very much the attitude towards John Kerry and that doesn't inspire moderates.

But as a leftist, I can say, and it's been a while honestly, that I take great pride in my candidate and my country right now. This election somewhat restores my hopes and faith for the future of my country! :"D

@CB: I still get goosebumps when I think back to last night when ABC (or NBC, forget which I was watching) announced Obama the winner at 8, just as the polls closed. x3

And thinking back on Jesse Jackson's tears makes me a little misty eyed too.

@FFG: I was sooo disappointed about 8. sad

But yeah, the light rail one, awesome! O=
Although I think it'll be a very long time before we see the effects of that one.

@Jackie: Oh! I briefly saw that in the paper and was a little shocked. Not in a good or bad way, just shocked that it was there.

Also because it was put next to the results of Proposition R

Virginia I was expecting, there were predictions going around for a while that electing Jim Webb as governor made it the Dems state to lose. Indiana and Ohio did surprise me.

As for Prop 8, most of my queer friends are kicking up a storm about it here, but I'm just rolling my eyes because a; it was somewhat predictable and b; it's ******** California. Even Tool had a secret track on one of their albums making fun of all the Propositions they tack onto ballots.

I totally agree that it sucks and it's a setback, but s**t this is only temporary. Lots of couples got their marriages in that window that closed with the passing of Prop 8 and this is just the continuation of the same old yo-yo on same sex marriage in California. One side wins, then the other overturns it. It's like getting worked up over the other team scoring a touchdown in a close football game. We just have to focus on getting that next first down, am i rite?

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. You share a coastline with the hippie capital of the US, Hollywood, and Seth Rogan's hometown. It's bound to rub off.

@Joasis:

Helios is my main mule... xd

I like being unaffiliated with any party. I don't feel as much pressure to vote for "my party's candidate", and can vote as I see fit.

Move to Massachusetts. Gay marriage has been legal here for a few years now.

My biggest concern right now with the election results is my clients not understanding the difference between decriminalizing marijuana (question 2), and legalizing marijuana (which is what they think happened).

And the worst part? Even after explaining to them what question 2 was really about, they STILL don't listen, because they want to think that marijuana is legal. rolleyes

Actually, forget moving to Mass. Legal gay marriage aside, our state has a lot of problems going on... sweatdrop

So. I went to vote. And this couple with three girls came up behind me. The oldest was about five or six. Natch, with a high turn out, the kids got bored and started running around causing mischief and climbing on everything.

A little while later, the oldest girl runs up beside me and starts grabbing at my hand and tugging on it. The parents and I exchange glances, they had as much of a 'wtf' expression as I did, and then game the clincher.

"Daddy, can we go yet?"

It wasn't until we started laughing that she looked up and all the color drained from her face.

The child had selected you as her new parent. So, did you keep it?

I offered to, and the parents suggested it as well, but she changed her mind and retreated to the relative safety of her original parents. And then proceeded to glare at me for the rest of the time in line like it was my fault.

Then again, being daughter to the Prophet wouldn't be easy.
