Sooooo... Next week I'm going to be shadowing/interviewing a video game artist. I was going to make a thread with prize incentives asking Gaia’s users if they could ask a video game artist any question what would it be to help me come up with questions, but I didn't know which forum to put it in.
My reasoning
I would like serious replies so I didn’t think that the CB or GD would be a good place, but the type of thread I want to make doesn’t exactly fit the guidelines for Art Discussion or Gaming Discussion.
I PM'd a mod asking which forum to put it in, but I guess she doesn't know either because I haven't heard anything. *shrugs* Now after a long day
in Hell at work, I'm so tired I think I'm just going to go to bed.
If you guys have any ideas or can think of any good questions that would be helpful.
heart how much freedom are they given with character design?
by the same coin, how much of a description of the characters do they get when they go to start a character?
what kind of research do they do for projects, be it background, or characters
how big an effect does shading/lighting play?
how much info do they get on the games they work on? enough to do a small part, or are they told pretty much everything that goes on?
do they play the games they help make? does making the game take fun out of playing it, or does it make it better, since they can pause it at any time and go "I made that!"
training to get there, rate of pay, benefits, how they got on with whatever company, why they do it, why they started, what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow, is it steady work, what influenced their style of art, what influences them now, how much input do they have on the creative process for the games they work on?
I think that's all I can think of off hand
