(( >////////> Bacon ))

He rested arms atop his knee, folding them so he could rest his head. He swallowed hard his hands tightened into fists as he gripped the material of his coat. He took a deep breath and raised his head again, resting it back against the tree as he looked up into the branches. His gaze slipped through the trees and beyond to the sky and stars again.

"We were both a part of the Second Exorcist Project."

Kanda: You must... ah... really like bacon... redface

Jack: *Cheers* : D

Star: Nothing much~ Just hanging out, really~ ))

“The... the Second Exorcist... project...?” Kiah questioned, brows furrowing while she looked to the ground. She wasn’t sure exactly what that entailed, but she couldn’t help the bad feeling in the pit of her stomach at his words. Obviously if it cost the life of someone dear to him, it couldn’t have been a very helpful project.

-Livverz-
Liv laughed a little at his last comment. She hadn't ever thought about it before, but she supposed she would have a fairly good bedside manner. She didn't know if she could contend with the rest of the job, though. Not just the medical aspect, but...losing patients when you worked so hard to keep them alive...

"Me? Oh..no, I don't...well I don't know," she shook her head and looked down, always so unsure of herself.

She looked up as he explained to Luci not only his love for God, but the love of others for him. Her smiled softened as he continued to increasingly show how pure of heart he was, "You have a lot of faith," she said softly, in a tone almost of admiration for how he was able to believe so strongly.

Luci munched her sandwich and kept her eyes glued to the warm man next to her as he explained. She was in awe of what he told her, and wondered for a moment why she had never heard it before.

"You mean...he made all this?" she looked around the grounds at all the trees and sky. She felt the warm sun dappled on her skin and then looked back to him, "Why does he care about us so much? If he's the father...does that mean he made me, too? And you? And Mommy?"

Liv was very intrigued at Luci's apparent curiosity about God. She didn't know if it was because Mishka was telling her about it or because she was genuinely interested. Whatever the reason, she started to feel guilty for never having talked to Luci more about the subject. She tried to tell herself it was because of her age, but really it was because she had never thought of it. Just how she was brought up, she essentially was raising Luci the same way. It had never occurred to her to give Luci information on religion in case she had the desire to look further into it. Maybe she would have to look into it more herself, and not just for Luci's benefit.

She poured Mishka, Luci and herself each a glass of the lemonade and unwrapped her own sandwich as she continued to listen to the conversation her companions were having. She would have to have a private conversation about this with Mishka one day.

((Bluuhbluhbluh. I'm okay. Just wish I was around more. orz ))

Mishka was honestly surprised that the young woman hadn't considered Nurse as a profession before considering her personality traits, and as she shook her head he smiled at her fondly. "Perhaps you should think about it," he said, lowering his voice to a more personal tone, one that Luci was likely to ignore for the more intricate and vibrant conversation she was currently having with her. It would be no hardship for him to have such a natural nurturer working by his side, especially such a beautiful one.

"Yes, God makes everyone, everything," he explained gently to Luci, chuckling quietly at her apparent deep interest in the subject. He would have never spoken about religion in such depth to a child, but she seemed ever-so-curious and Liv didn't seem to mind too terribly. He assumed those who live at the Order had some form of religious belief as Innocence was meant to be a weapon formed by God himself with its ethereal and mystical properties. It hadn't occured to him until Luci's questioning that some around the Order may simply have ended up in the Order because they had no where else to go. "He loves everyone, like father loves his children, even if we do things that He is not proud of he loves unconditionally. People who believe, like me, also love Him unconditionally, too."

He gave Liv a gentle nod of thanks as he took the cool glass of lemonade, tasting the sweet and sour liquid as it washed over his tongue. As he lowered the glass he gave her a sheepish smile; "I do not want to make Liv upset... Is it okay, to tell Luci such things?"

(( xD I found that a long time ago. I just never stop laughing. ))

"You haven't heard of it.."

He sighed and closed his eyes. With a flat tone in his voice, he relived everything, explaining to Kiah exactly what the project was. He explained how they took the brains of Exorcists from long ago and implanted them in artificial bodies, trying to force the Innocence to synch with them. He explained how he and Alma were the only ones to survive it all.

He told Kiah how around nine years previous he started to regain his memories from the previous life...and how he had been ordered to be terminated as a result. He told how Alma had rescued him from it, and how Alma learned exactly what the Scientists had done to them both. He told her how Alma had lost control and killed the entire Science team in a fit of rage, even attacking Kanda himself in the hopes that they would die there together. The entire story gushed from him with no effort, and when he spoke the next part of the story it wasn't without silent tears.

"I was forced to protect myself, in the end...slicing Alma to pieces. And then,"

He started to laugh in a disheartening manner between words.

"And then...he wasn't really dead. For years, until only several months ago..for years, I thought he was dead. But they had saved him, kept him alive all that time. I had to fight him again, because he was awakened. And Allen...he helped me and he helped Alma. And in the end we were able to go away to another place, where Alma could die in peace. And for a long time I stayed with him there. Everyone here thought I was dead."

(( Mishkalooooooooooooove. <3 ))

Liv smiled at his suggestion and gave a small nod, "I suppose I will. We could work together, then," she made a quiet 'hm~' noise as if to say, 'How about that?' before continuing to listen to the conversation between him and Luci.

"Everything? Everyone? That's a lot of things to make...and we're all so different...how does he have the time to do all of this?" she tilted her head, "And he loves us no matter what? He sounds like a very nice man, Mr. Mishka. If all of that is true then no wonder people love him back so much..."

She finished her sandwich and sucked down her lemonade before wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. Though she normally had endless energy, all the new information was starting to give her a bit of a sensory overload. She was still a child, and could only retain so much. She scooted over next to Liv and curled up against her, burying her face in Liv's stomach.

Liv smiled and brushed Luci's curls gently with her fingertips, looking at her a moment before turning her gaze to Mishka, "No, please continue. If she'd like to know, please tell her. I'd like to hear it as well..."

Luci wiggled around against Liv's lap, eventually clambering over her to be on the other side where she was able to get more comfortable. She sighed softly and murmured, "I wanna play watch the clouds, Mommy...let's play that," she demanded quietly.

"Ooft...Luci you're getting too big to be climbing..on me," she puffed her cheeks out until Luci had settled on the other side of her, "Goodness. Alright, we can play for a little while. But Mr. Mishka has to go back to work soon, so only for a little while."

Liv set everything aside so there was room all of them to lay down on the blanket. She laid out on her back and folded her hands on top of her stomach, blinking a little from the brightness of the sky before her eyes adjusted. She turned her head to look up at Mishka, "Are you going to play with us?"

Luci scooted herself up to Liv's shoulder and rested her head there. She stared at the clouds for all of a minute before her eyelids drifted shut. They fluttered open now and again as she tried to stay awake, but she was starting to slip away already.

(( I'll bet... XD Ahhh, bacon... It'll never be innocent again... ))

Kiah stared at the ground with wide eyes as Kanda poured his heart out to her, feeling sick after hearing exactly what the Order had done to them. It was disgusting to her, bringing back the poor Exorcists who should have been resting in peace after their untimely demise only to force them back into the profession that probably killed them in the first place. She silently questioned herself, wondering what else those people could possibly be doing at that very moment to ruin more lives, and what she could be doing to help them with it.

Shaking at the thought of his friend trying to kill him- twice, it seemed-, Kiah slowly started to crawl around to his side of the tree. There really wasn’t anything she could do to make him feel better, as she usually tried to avoid bringing up painful subjects altogether since she was useless at comforting anyone. No one could say she didn’t try, though.

Hesitantly, she reached her arms around his shoulders in an awkward hug, keeping it loose so that he could shake her off if necessary. Though she was glad that he was still alive, she couldn’t help but wonder if he was regretful that he lived while Alma slipped away. She swallowed uncomfortably before asking what she thought was a horrible question. “Do you... wish... you’d gone with Alma...?”
