"Let's go Ariados, get out of the way and use Constrict!" Ariados jumped high into the air out of the range of the mud shot. barley dodging the wall of mud, Ariadose sailed overhead launching a spinning coil of silk from her mouth down at the tattered Krabby. "Let's turn this dinner plate into a sea food salad!"

Ray looked down to his Charmander, "Do you know how to get off this island? Or know where to go?" Flametail placed his hand on his own face in shame. He pulled out a small handbook from his pockets and opened it up. "It seems that a boat in this area should take us to a place called Vermilion City. Any clue on how to get on that boat?" Flametail looked over to Ray and shrugged. He walked passed his trainer to the outside and stretched. Flametail's arms stretched towards the sky as he smiled. Ray closed the door and locked it. He looked to Flametail and smiled, "It's nice, right? Hopefully now we won't have to survive on selling berries. Soon we'll be strong and famous, so that we'll have everything we always wanted." Flametail smiled brightly, and reached for his trainer. Ray bent over and picked up Flametail, putting him on his back. The Charmander smiled, as he wagged his tail and held his trainer's head for support. Ray saw the boat dock and started to walk to it. "You know, soon you'll have to start walking on your own. I won't be able to carry you forever. Maybe one day you'll carry me." He laughed and stopped laughing as soon as Flametail smacked his forehead.

"Sounds good," M.A. answered for the both of them. They hadn't eaten all day, after all; even if Ky was beat-tired or didn't feel like eating, he had to get some nourishment nevertheless.

After handing Ulani to Nurse Joy, who took the bird gently and disappeared through a door, the two trekked down the squeaky-clean, empty hallway, past the lobby where a few trainers slept and snored and dreamed, into the cafeteria. It was dimly litted, and only a few wrapped goods were available -- after all, dinnertime had long passed and it was rather late to be keeping food out.

So M.A. grabbed a plastic-wrapped turkey sub that was sitting in the cooler -- it was a bit mushy by now, what with its sitting there for the last few hours, but the girl ate it with no complaints whatsoever. She relaxed in one of the seats, waiting for Ky.

Ky followed M.A. over to the cafeteria. Seeing the sandwiches as rather unappetizing, he grabbed a muffin and some water instead before sitting down across from M.A., taking slow sleepy bites and sips. He wasn't sure what had really drained him. In terms of physical activity, he had done very little. It must've been the overall stress of battle that wore him down. Thinking of Bugsy, he decided to pin his Hive Badge to his right backpack strap, where it could be shown off to other trainers that he met.

"Hm, Ulani's Astonish and Sing attacks would probably do really well against Bugsy," Ky said suddenly. "They're both very unexpected attacks that would give you an upper hand. As for your other two, I'm not sure, since I didn't get to battle with them, though I'm sure your Houndour is ten times as fierce as that Rocket's..." His tone was kind of low as he gave this advice, showing his fatigue. Only half way through his muffin, he soon fell asleep, his face lying awkwardly on the table.

Nurse Joy soon came over with both birds on her shoulders and a Pokeball in her hand. "Aww, poor kid. What'd that brat of a Gym Leader do to him?" she laughed. Seeing Ky more or less fainted on the table, Little Guy became worried and quickly hopped to the side of his face, nudging him with his beak. Without opening his eyes, Ky smiled and brought his hand up, scratching Little Guy beneath his favorite feathers, while also bringing him in closer for warmth. Making sure not to be loud, Little Guy cooed in delight as Ky held him, soon falling asleep as well.

Nurse Joy simply smiled and tilted her head as she watched the adorable scene. It truly was a wonderful thing how battles could form such strong and lasting bonds. She then turned to M.A. and whispered. "I'll hold on to Sting for the night. If you could tell him that, that would be great. And also, Little Guy's feathers will take a few days to grow back. We were able to heal his grazed skin, but we can't regrow feathers." She pointed to show the small white bandage wrapped around Little Guy's right wing. "Other than that, is there anything else I can do for you?" Nurse Joy asked, handing M.A. her Swablu.

Krabby could do nothing to prevent the silk from wrapping around him. His body was still shaking in pain from the last attack. "Krabby, Harden!" the man yelled. As the coil began to constrict, Krabby put the rest of his effort into hardening and sealing the wounds he had been given. Though the silk tightened, it could not do much to the Krabby's hardened shell. Now in relief from his pain, the Krabby burst out of the webbing, mainly in show for his strength before he finally collapsed, bubbles spilling from his mouth.

With little hesitation, the man recalled his Krabby. He no longer wore a smile and his face was grim and serious. "I don't know what is stronger. My disgust towards how you treat your Pokemon or my admiration at how your Pokemon fight despite it," he said.

"Jeremy! Don't let up!" came a shout from the crowd forming around the battle.

"Yeah, use your Clefairy!" came another. "Do it for Goldenrod!"

Jeremy took a look around and smiled. He could recognize a few of the trainers who had gathered; they were his colleagues, the junior trainers of Goldenrod Gym. His smile remained as he looked back to Crenu.

"Well, I never intended to introduce myself to you, but since my pride's been a bit tattered, I find it necessary. My name's Jeremy, and I'm one of the junior trainers specially trained under Whitney herself. I have to admit, you're a strong trainer, and although I don't agree with your attitude in the least, I must recognize your ability," he said. With a quick motion, he swapped Krabby's Pokeball with his remaining one, holding it out towards Crenu proudly. "This... is my Clefairy. I guess in your words, she'd be the sharpest 'tool' in my shed. I can say with unfoolish confidence that she can take both your newly evolved Pokemon and whatever else you might throw at her with ease. If you can prove me wrong, you are most definitely worthy of challenging Whitney. Now... I can stop now if you want. You beat me fair and square in a 2 vs. 2, and I'm willing to leave it at that. But... I can see in your eyes that you want more. Do you accept my challenge?" With that speech, Jeremy's colleagues looked on in awe. He almost sounded like a Gym Leader himself (though not at all like Whitney).

Twinkers begun to put her short arms up to her ears, her eyes screwed up tight. Then she opened them wide with a grin on her face. She could sing too! She too joined in with her companions singing producing her own lower and more drawn out notes that blended well as backing vocals to Allegra's faster tune. This was fun!

Meanwhile the bright yellow eyes in the dark began to droop as the song started to get to it. There was a second muffled thud and a second pair of yellow eyes peered lazily out of the gloom at the impromptu concert. The second member of the audience was near the first, but not as high up and maybe a little further away, though it was hard to tell in the shadowy light prevalent in the attic.

Train wandered the halls of the huge department store. She scanned the rows of items, but saw nothing that interested her quite yet.

She talked to the some of the clerks and customers, then headed down the elevator to the lobby, where she exited the place.

"What should I do now..." Train asked herself. There was really only one option; train.

She headed back to Ilex Forest. This time, a Shroomish appeared near her. Ratata's turn again.

A fond smile fell across Mary-Anne's features as she watched Little Guy cuddling up to Ky, the two falling asleep with the comfort of one another. A warm feeling rushed through her, very much like how she felt sometimes when Michael was unconsciously too sweet or innocent. Even a little sister could have that sensation, after all. "No, no, not at all, Nurse Joy," she murmured back to the kind lady, sharing a secretive, twinking grin. "Except. . . maybe you could make his night a bit more comfortable? He'll be a bit stiff tomorrow if he stays like that, I think."

Once Ulani was perched on her shoulder (the bird was drowsy, so remarkably she was quiet), M.A. was abruptly reminded of her other two travelling companions. Before she could as much as open her lips to inquire, however, she soon saw two little heads peek out into the doorway of the cafeteria. Tora was in front, her nose lifted up -- apparently she'd been sniffing out M.A. -- with Daemyn behind, surprisingly eager to follow. Apparently, they'd become quite acquainted with one another during their little resting period. Or perhaps they'd just gained respect for each other during their battle, she wasn't sure. In any case, the heavy little elephant charged into the room gleefully, nearly knocking M.A. over with accidental brute force. Daemyn wasn't far behind, and he pawed at her beseechingly -- hushing them but laughing quietly nevertheless, the girl picked up the Houndour and patted the Phanpy adoringly. To her surprise, Daemyn had gotten heavier. He was most certainly growing bigger and stronger. Lean muscles were beginning to build under his silky, folded black skin.

A yawn escaped her lips, and as she hasted to cover her mouth, she nearly dropped Daemyn. The pup growled, alarmed, alerting her just in time. "Well, I think we're done for the night too -- or at least I am," M.A. grinned, looking down between Tora and Daemyn, who was squirming with energy. "Rest up for tomorrow, you two! We'll have a gym battle next."

With that and a good night to Nurse Joy as well as a sleeping Ky, they set off for the couches; M.A. quite liked the comfortable cushions there, after all.

"Tch, I don't remember asking for your name or who you represent. But I must say I'm a bit disappointed. If you're trained by the best trainer in this town and that's all you've got, then this city has one pathetic gym and even more pathetic trainers. I may not even try and get this badge, doesn't seem like a good investment of my valuable time." Grinning as he said this, he spit on the ground and signaled with his head, calling Ariados back to his side for the next battle. "Are you gonna stand there all day preaching for the peanut gallery or are you gonna send your last tool to be dulled?"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 24, 2007 12:35 am

Jeremy fumed. "Disappointed? You're just dense. I'd rather you not collect the badges and fade from existance. Even the most basic trainer knows that without badges, Pokemon will eventually judge the worth of their trainers, and seeing your worth, I could imagine yours leaving soon if they know what's good for them. Now, wouldn't that be ironic, coming from a kid who just called an entire city pathetic?" Jeremy looked around, finding familiar faces nod in agreement. "You speak too big kid. It's time to shut you up! Clefairy, go!"

In a flash of light, the Clefairy appeared. Most Clefairy are known to be giddy and playful in nature, but not this one. This was the Clefairy Jeremy used to challenge Whitney's challengers. In order to keep strict, type-based rules sound, he was only authorized to use her in 1-on-1 battles, leaving her to fend for herself against many opponents, many types, and of all levels. She was well known to most of Goldenrod for two reasons. Reason 1: She had a remarkable Defense, able to withstand even the strongest of Fighting moves. Reason 2: Her signature first attack.

"Sing," Jeremy called. The Clefairy glared at her opponent. Despite the Ariados's size, she was not intimidated in the least. With her eyes fixed on the spider, she began her unique Sing attack. Instead of a song, a mesmorizing high-pitched chant came from her mouth instead, speaking in an unknown language of sorts, even for Pokemon. As the wavelengths traveled through the air, she kept a sharp eye on the Ariados. She knew that her chant wasn't always so potent and that failure needed to be prepared for.

Steffi waited patiently as the hours ticked by in the Pokemon Center. The nurse came up to her and whispered softly,

"Your Pikachu is fine, but we just need to pump up his electricity volumes. Is this ok by you? He wasn't injured in his battle earlier, as his opponent wasn't too tough. It's just that he had never used his move Thundershock before, and wasn't aware that it would exhaust him. He needs a really good sleep and has to stay here for the night. It would be best if you go home, or stay in one of our rooms upstairs." the Nurse looked at Steffi's puzzled face.

Steffi weighed the possibilities in her mind. She could go to her home, or she could stay upstairs. She didn't want to go home, as she had now begun on her adventure. She didn't want to stay upstairs either, as she was worried about Sparky and wanted to be by him.

"Is it ok if I stay with Sparky for the night?" she asked kindly to the Nurse. She answered with a shocked face,

"Um, sure, but you wouldn't be able to sleep then."

"That's fine, Steffi admitted, "As long as I'm with my Pikachu.

"Ok then, please follow me." the Nurse instructed, and walked through the doors into the back of the pokemon center. Steffi saw many badly injured pokemon, asleep in their seperate beds. One of them was Sparky. Her heart skipped a beat as she spotted all the cables connected to his body. You poor thing... she thought, pulling up a chair.

"Call me if you need anything," the Nurse said, leaving the room.

Mr. Ranmo sat down on a large rock, the tools of his trade laying on the ground before him. "Woo..." he sighed, wiping his brow and removing his jacket, "It gets quite hot digging around, wouldn't you agree?" he looked over at Mike and his Breloom. It did his old heart good knowing that there were still kids around who found fossils and the like just as interesting as him. He removed his hat and wiped a bit more sweat away, then placed the bowler back on.

"Ah! I believe I could have someone help us along..." Mr Ranmo slipped his hand into his pocket and removed a Pokeball, holding it tightly in his hand, "I'm sure you'd be interested in this as well, Mike." Joeseph tossed the ball up, and illuminated the cavern for a moment. When the light dimmed, a Pokemon stood before its trainer. Long scythes were located where its hands would be. Its head was rounded and shaped a bit like a shark. The Pokemon had a strangely shaped body - like a skeleton. "I say, Kabutops. Mind helping me dig around for an old friend of yours?" Ranmo smiled.

Ray continued to walk towards the dock, "I'm going to miss this place. Oh, did you pack us some berries, Flametail?" He looked back to his Charmander and waited for his reply. Flametail shook his head side to side. Ray's head lowered, "Isn't that just great. I guess we could always buy some food along the way. We should hurry before the boat leaves."

Ray ran towards the dock while Flametail kept bouncing on his back. He took breaths between each word, "We... should... be... there... in... no... time..." He stopped by the entrance and took several deep breaths. Flametail got off his back and walked over to the sailor. He pointed at the sailor while he looked at his trainer to notice him. After he caught his breath, he noticed Flametail and the sailor. He walked over to the sailor, "I'll like... a ticket to..." He forgot the place where he was headed to.

Flametail reached into Ray's pockets and pulled out his handbook. "Oh yeah." He smiled at his Charmander and pat his head, "I'll like a ticket to Vermilion City." The sailor looked at him strange. "Oh!" He reached into his pocket and pulled out his money. "How much?" The sailor continued to look at him funny.

Both Pokemon rolled around on the ground as their trainers issued orders for Bite over and over again. Puncture wounds on Flareon's neck began to bleed. The male fox eventually jumped away from the female, breathing heavily. Its eyes were alight with a passion Kilik had never seen before. "Okay!" Kilik whistled, "Use Bite one more time!"

"Flareon, use Bite too!" Rebecca commanded. Both foxes circled aorund each other and then jumped at the same moment, colliding with each other in the air. The cameras followed their every move, catching each bit of it on film. The crowd was going wild, like animals coming to see a fight to the death between two alpha males. Rebecca lifted her thumb to her lips, biting it softly. She'd never seen her own Flareon take something like this. The beating was almost too much for her to bare.

Kilik smirked. He knew that his Flareon was stronger than hers and could outlast it in this snarling match. This was it. "The entire Pokemon world is about to see my victory!" Kilik laughed. A camera turned to him and he rubbed his nose. "This is the end, Rebecca! Flareon, I want you to use Quick Attack!" Nodding to this new order, the Pokemon crouched down and broke into its run. Its eyes narrowed on its target, and the stream of white light appeared. Flareon collided head on, its skull slamming into the other Flareon's chin.

Rebecca let out a scream as her Pokemon was sent into the air, then back crashing to the arena floor. Her scream was drowned out by the collection of people either cheering or booing. Her Flareon lay motionless on the floor in front of her. She fell on her knees and recalled her fallen partner. "Rebecca's Flareon is unable to battle! The battle and match goes to Kilik Ranmo of Verdanturf Town!" The cheer that followed was nearly deafening. Kilik recalled his Pokemon and looked up at the screen. His picture was enlarged for the entire stadium, along with pictures of the three Pokemon he used during the match. He smiled and punched the air. The boy glanced over at Rebecca. Slowly, he walked over to her, his hands in his pockets.

Rebecca looked at the ground, then noticed the black boots that stopped in front of her. She looked up at him and wiped her eye. "What? Coming over to make fun of my loss?" she growled, "Go ahead!" She clenched her fists on her thighs.

Kilik shook his head and held out his hand. A slight murmur rippled through the crowd. "Actually, I was going to help you up." He smiled warmly. Sure, she was rude to him and he was just as crude back. That didn't mean he wasn't human. He felt her fingers lock with his and he pulled her up slowly. "There, see? I'm not totally heartless." Kilik slipped his hands into his pockets, turning his back on the girl. "I'll see you around. Good match, Rebecca." He walked away, back towards his corner of the arena and through the exit towards the locker rooms. The cheering had faded away in his ears.

Crenu sighed, then laughed at Jeremy's comments. "Whatever old man, your words are killing me with laughter. Let's cut the chatter and get this over with shall we? Or are you not done crying yet?" He laughed deeply even as the match ensued. Clefairy suddenly began to sing in a strange manner, one Crenu had never heard of before. Ariados simply stared back at Clefairy and waited. " I must say I'm impressed. Your Clefairy looks like it's all business and no play, I wish I could say the same for my pokemon. But they'll learn. Go Ariados, String shot!" Ariados cocked hear head back, then launched it forward unleashing a more goo like silk then the one she had used for the constrict just a few moments ago. The sticky silk, almost net like, sailed through the air towards the singing Clefairy, ready to ensnare her in it's threads.
