I would have to agree that Macs are probably best for most graphics applications. Of course, a certain other member here would tell you the exact opposite.

You know you're too old to be living in a dorm, when you can no longer sleep through your roommate puking in the bathroom, and people slamming their car doors in the parking lot. *sigh* Looks like another night without any sleep for me.

Last night, I didn't get any sleep, cause my friends didn't leave my room till 4:30 am. Then my roommate was up and banging around in the bathroom at 7, which would have been fine, providing she hadn't left the bathroom door open, and her boyfriend hadn't been in there playing guitar. Someone phoned me at 9, my alarm went off at 11, and then someone phoned again at 1. I finally got out of bed at 1, cause I decided sleep was definitely not coming.

And that would be me. Now for my trip on computers. I don't really understand how someone can ruin thier screen by tripping on thier cord, I've tripped on the cord, yanked on the cord and accidentally ripped it out of my laptop with no complications other than having to plug it back in. I got my laptop about 5 months ago now, and I have no problems. The only problems I've experienced were completely my fault and even then Dell was more than willing to help me and they were resolved within 5 minutes. (For example, I accidently turned my screen sideways, and didn't knwo how to get it back.) I used to hate Dell, I thought they made the crappiest, ugliest computers in the world. But when it came down to buying a laptop, Dell gave me the best deal. The warranty on my laptop was inexpensive and coveres hardware and software problems. I have never had a problem with Dell hardware in the past 4 years I've owned my desktop Dell computer. I've noted with many people my age who buy an apple laptop that they liked it because it looks better, and it has a light up apple on the top. I bought my particular laptop model because It has blue lightup buttons that I can press with the top opened or closed, the rest of the computer is black and silver, and I don't have a latch that I have to slide to open the lid. Also because it is small enough for me to carry and fit into any bag I feel like putting it in. And even though my keyboard is a ton smaller than a normal keyboard, unlike my friend's larger Toshiba laptop, the keys are in standard places and hardly moved. (Its a Dell XPS M1210, incase anyone is wondering.)
Beyond hardware I think most Windows users have software problems because they don't know enough about computers. On this laptop I go editing my registry files regularly to give it a different look. Even when I mess up the registry, I have my computer set up so that I can sytem restore it back to previous settings within a few minutes.
And honestly, I don't know how I'd get myself through using CS2 without using my rightclick. I do not think that Windows, Mac or Linux computers process graphics applications better than one another when used at thier optimum settings, getting to those settings might be more difficult. Mac is defaulted for said apps, Windows is defaulted to run business apps at a greater priority and Linux is open to anything you want to make it do, you just need to customize it yourself (and that confuses me too much.) I am a digital visual arist and I edit and record music on my computer, I have no problems doing so, even when I have AutoCad, iTunes and countless other windows and programs running. Linux, however is harder for me to use than Mac, it really drives me freaking insane. It all really comes down to personal preference and how much you are willing to spend on such things. Dell gave me a very good deal on my laptop because of the time I bought it and for being a return customer, the also have a wide variety of financing options I couldn't get with other companies. I will note that I wanted a completely customized machine, with very specific components, so buying one in a store was out of the question for me. It was cheaper than Sony, Toshiba, HP, a thinkpad or an Apple with mostly the same components. However, sometimes it is much cheaper to buy a laptop in the stores to get thier deals.

End wall of text.

I happen to agree wholeheartedly with you Sena. Dell machines are high class, and their tech support is second to none (even Apple's). The Dells I have at work are /tons/ better than the Gateways we used to have. Hell, I even own a Dell Axim.

About the tripping and screen damage: it's not the actual act of the cord being ripped out, it's when the cord doesn't rip out and the laptop falls to the floor. LCDs are pretty fragile, and a sudden impact like that can severely damage the screen to the point where it's completely unusable.

Are there -any- females out there who aren't whores anymore? I'd really like to meet one scream

I'm proud to say that I, in fact, am not a whore.

This of course depends on your definition of whore - which is?

Would it prove my innocence if I invited you over for a tea party? (I'm just kidding)

Mr. Snugglekins does enjoy an occasional guest, though. He says my tea sandwhiches are the best.

Hm... Sensedog and I were talking politics, sort of, earlier today. I figured out that, as of now, I'm a democrat. For a few reasons. One because my dad is republican and I'm going against him. Two, it just sounds like if I were to generalize to a category it would be democrat over republican. I don't know, I always kind of thought I'd be a republican.

I'm part of the party that would love to give a damn, but knows that no one will listen, nor will anyone do anything about a real problem.

So, if I stick with Windows, (I'm still undecided) a Dell would be the best bet? Thank you. 3nodding I've heard a lot of good and bad things about Dell, strangely, although a lot more good about their laptops.

I have a Dell laptop and I love it. The only problem I have with it is, I have to have the keyboard replaced every year.

Thanks xd

I have a Gateway. I can't really complain about it because it was a gift from my parents (aka completely free) and I haven't had any problems with it. I agree that Dells are good, based on a few friends (although one person managed to pry the "s" key off the keyboard for some reason).

Don't get an HP, and don't buy it from Circuit City. My old laptop was an HP and it sucked. And Circuit City made me go through the stupid troubleshooting 4 times before they would even acknowledge what was wrong with the laptop (CD Drive). And this was when I started out telling them, "So, I went through your whole troubleshooting thing with a tech guy at HP, and they said the CD Drive didn't work...."

Um...so you are basically indifferent to politics?

I've personally processed somewhere between 175-200 HP laptops and desktops. I can safely say that at least 10-15% of HP laptops have some sort of hardware issue. Their desktops are far better (I think I ran across one hardware failure), though that's similar with all manufacturers. However, if we're just talking straight percents here, 75% of our Gateway laptops have failed one time or another (25% of those requiring complete replacement).

I am going to be in so much s**t tomorrow. I snapped on someone at the end of class, cause they asked me, for the 90th ******** time, the same god damn question. I mean, if for the first 89 times it was the same answer, do you really think it's going to change for the 90th? No... It's not. So I snapped, and my teacher yelled after me, and I just stormed down the hallway. God I hate people.
