Murdoch lay in the dark dungeon where he had lived most of his experimental life. The darkness was somewhat comforting to him, it felt like he could forget everything. He sighed and closed his eyes a small tear escaping and running down his cheek. He wiped it off and went to stand up but when he did he felt the pull on the chain and it hurt his wrist. "Damn it...I shouldn't have done this, but maybe it's better for the kid. He won't have to see my face and choose between his master and me." Murdoch hid his face in his hands. "I told him I'd protect him, be there for him, but I lied...I'm a lie. Something no creature could depend on." He felt anger build up inside him and he punch a stone wall. The stone cracked but it left horrible gashes on his knuckles and black blood poured onto his hand.
