Bari's awesome. =D Now I've played Alto, Tenor, and Bari, being best at Alto and Tenor (though I'm getting better at the Bari- so far I've played it for 25 minutes total! xd ).
I wanna try Soprano sometime next year in high school, to see which one I'm best at.

Soprano is Hella Hard if you're used to playing an Alto or Bari.
Say if you had been playing the Clarinet instead of a saxaphone it would still be challenging

Still, I'd like to try it at least once, just to get a feel for it. I'm not really used to playing Bari, but I am for Alto, a bit for Tenor. After 30 minutes to an hour of playing, I can usually have my embouchure adjusted to the mouthpiece better.
Besides, I like challenges. =D

DemonicCurse I play alto sax. All saxophone have the same fingerings so you could play almost any of them if you could play just one. i've noticed that the hardest thing for me, is that since im only in middle school (going to high school next year) we have our jazz band in the morning, where i play baritone, and then regular band during 3rd period, where i play alto. but i always play the alto flat at the beginning because my mouth is so used to dropping my jaw so much to get the low notes on the bari in tune. does anyone else have that problem?

yeah the alto sax is great an all, having played it for 8 years, but if i had know what i known now then, i would have chosen the tenor because it has more of a smooth feel to it. It doesn't sound like a mouse on crack when you try to play high notes. even the high notes that come out crummy sound ok. neutral

Silver Eye Snake er...I have an alto, but I don't know how to play it yet (I'll be learning that this year). I've been wanting to play it forever though ^^ Hm...I feel so out of place/stupid. I don't suppose you would have any tips for me, would you? sweatdrop Have you tried looking for a book? I would recommend Standard of Excellence book 1 for Eb alto saxophone. It teaches you every thing from putting the saxophone together to reading music. It really helps me! biggrin

Hi! I play Oboe, but next year I have to learn Sax for marching band. Does anyone here know if the fingerings for Sax and Oboe are similar?
