I press the button and nothing happens. The screen doesn't even light up, though it does make the sound...Do you know if the over heating thing happen with Dell laptops?

Uh...laptops in general have been known to overheat. Dell laptops do overheat more than the others, but HP is even worse. Also:
Did you update any of your computer's system files recently?
Is there a battery but into the laptop?
Any AC adapters?
Do you remember how much battery power was left?

I finally got my PC geek boyfriend to check it over. He spoke a lot stuff about batteries and why updates bubbles should be read fully before I click on them. His so cute when he speaks geek whee
Anyway, thanks for the help Waffle. He says it was only with your help that I didn't complete destroy my computer by doing something foolish. So thank you so much!

lol... my laptop has shut off on my from over-heating before... I set it down on my bed, and my comforter suffocated the poor thing. sweatdrop
.x. I don't know what to post in the main...

I seriously nearly shat myself. That noise was ******** creepy!! I'm home alone and none of my lights are on- not even the television (so as to conserve electricity).
