Smeargle was fast running out of breath, being quite a bit out of shape, yet his pursuer seemed like she'd never let up. Ah, what passion, the Smeargle thought idly once he chanced to look backwards -- but said movement caused him to slow down, allowing Ulani to land a neat Peck to his bum.
Alright, enough was enough, this was getting ridiculous. He couldn't run forever. No, no, he had to think of an attack. Think... Think... The Smeargle looked around hastily, taking in his surroundings. Ah! Water, lots of water. The pristine blue waves inspired him in that moment, and so Smeargle swerved downwards with an astonishing suddenness that no one could have expected from the sleepy fellow. Ulani sped onwards for a second before realizing that her target had changed direction, and thus gave the Smeargle a bit of time to prepare.
Once on the ground once more, his wings dissipated and splattered onto the sand, but the Smeargle seemed to pay no attention to this. Instead, he took hold of his long tail, swung it a couple times loosely in a wide circle. The green tip began to glow white, and then he began to paint into the sky -- to M.A.'s awe, the paint, blue, spread out further and further until a relatively large tidal wave loomed over a hapless Ulani.
The bird's expression was priceless as she saw the wave loom over him. How the hell did he do that? And BAM, the thing hit, and sure enough it was real water!
M.A. applauded, having been rather delighted by the water show. Ulani, naturally, soaked and on the sand -- not a lovely combo -- shot her a look that clearly said, 'Hey, you're cheering the wrong side here!' To which the brunette only laughed and smiled reassuringly, sticking up a thumb as a gesture of faith.
Saebum, a spectator, could only chuckle at his sister's blitheness. She hardly took this Pokemon battling stuff seriously, he saw; it was refreshing in a way, since so many trainers nowadays were so preoccupied with strength. At least she was having fun. The day where she'd have to take hold of her future and make something of herself was far away, and she didn't need to worry about it yet. Let her have her journey and grow.
"Alright, Lani! Time to get to work, for real. Oh, watch out for that --" she called out, to which the Bird-type narrowly dodged a very threatening barricade of sand.
"M.A., it looks like he's using an attack called Secret Power. He'll make something of his surroundings," Sae announced, figuring his sister wouldn't know this trivia.
"Oh, that's pretty cool! Well, 'Lani, time to counterattack. Stick 'im with a Fury attack!"
The bird couldn't agree more. Fury was certainly what she was feeling! How dare he get her wet when they were surrounded by this sticky sticky sand!

Holy crap. It was Aidan. Look at that dirty, tousled, just-outta-bed hair -- well, he looks a mess. Having discovered the identity of his victim, Jun hastily put away the mace; in retrospect, it'd be too cruel to add insult to injury. Or injury to injury.
Jun cringed a little bit under the interrogating, none-too-happy eyes of Aidan. Which, he just noticed, were extraordinarily blue. Like his first satin dress, but that had been a fashion faux-paux and quite a catastrophe when his father saw him, Jun remembered with a frown. But his mind was straying, and with a tiny bit of effort he brought himself to the more pressing preset. "I'd like to accuse someone else of it, but there's no one else around driving a patrol car around," Jun said flatly, his habit of sarcasm getting the best of him. When the other young man slowly got up, however, Jun remembered that getting hit by a car wasn't something that people usually just brushed off and got lunch over. "Uh, yeah, sorry. But seriously, shouldn't you try to avoid obnoxious flashing sirens? Though I probably should've figured how to work those damn headlights," he said, mumbling the last part to himself. Oooh, the guy looked peeved. Well Jun supposed he had a right to be. But despite Aidan's annoyance, Jun couldn't stop his eyes from floating down to his tight shirt. Those collar bones were even better than Pierre's. Looked like they'd be nice to run a finger over.
But shoot, he was getting distracted again, and that would do no good! Glancing over his shoulder, Jun noted Lee stepping out of the car, having deflated the thing with her own power. Hm, Jenny wouldn't be happy about replacing those. But safety first, right...?

Riza couldn't stop herself from yawning as she made her way towards the pokecenter. She knew that a part of it was because she hadn't really eaten anything substantial for that day, but also because she was actually quite bored. As much fun as it had been to battle with that boy and his funny coloured Marill she really didn't feel like getting into any more battles right now, and the fact that she didn't know anyone really didn't help her case either. Ralts was alert and energetic still, and Riza kind of envied the small psychic, wishing that she was feeling eager to actually do something.
After a bit of aimless wandering Riza shooed a couple of kids away from a beach chair (they weren't really using it after all) and sat down it in, placing Ralts in the sand nearby. The little Pokemon amused herself by using her psychic powers to pile up the sand around her into a rather neat cylindrical shape and then she began to poke at it, though she were working on a sand sculpture. Riza watched curiously for a moment, figuring that ralts had probably been in this area for quite some time and had become pretty adept at working with sand. "Whatever floats your boat, hon," Riza laughed, taking out her Pokedex and having a look at it.
She was mostly concerned with Ralts and her distinct lack of techniques to use in battle, so she was looking up what the pokemon would learn in the future. "Oh, magical leaf," she said thoughtfully, looking at the psychic intently. "Though that doesn't come for a while... maybe we'll have to look into some Technical Machines Jaden often talked about." Riza leaned back in the chair, content to read up on her Pokemon for now. * * * * * "Alright darling, I know we've been through this a hundred times before, but are you sure you're really ready to leave? I mean, really, really ready?" Lena Maguire was standing in the foyer of her grandiose home, watching her only daughter, Katie, carefully pack her things into a specially-designed messenger bag. "You're awfully young to be going out by yourself like that..."
"Mother," Katie said simply, packing the very last item, a potion, into the bag and closing it, "I know you're worried, but most kids, when they start out as trainers, leave when they're like, ten. I'm fourteen and you know as well as I do that I can take care of myself. Besides, Genki will be with me." The small girl flipped a long, orange ponytail back behind her shoulder and grinned up at her mother, who sported the same, bright orange hair (only shorter and more stylish for a woman her age) and ruby coloured eyes. "You know I'll be fine, Mother," she said, taking several steps forward and hugging her mother. "After all I did graduate top of my class from the Trainer School, and you know that if something goes wrong I'll call you and you can come and get me, okay?"
Lena sighed and dabbed at her eyes with a tissue once Katie had pulled away again. "I know, you're right, but I can't help but worry. As your mother, it's my job to worry." Lena sighed and shook her head. "Not only that, but it's always been you and me and now it's about to be just me. It's going to take some getting used to."
"You have all the guys and gals in the studio, Mother, you'll be fine," Katie said, a playful smile etching its way across her face. "And you know what, I'll catch a Pokemon for you, and I'll bring it back here for you, all right?"
Lena smiled and kissed her daughter's forehead. "I'm going to hold you to that, Katherine Lavinia Maguire. Now get going, before I change my mind."
Katie smiled and waved goodbye as she ensured that she had all her belongings, and just like that she was headed out the door, finally ready to start her journey.

Aidan just sighed as Jun talked either ignoring or not noticing that he was getting eyed up. Slinging his jacket over his uninjured arm Aidan did his best to calm himself down and after a second he was fine. "I thought I was far enough off to the side, I guess I was wrong." He paused watching the Jynx coming out of the car before turning his attention back to Jun. "In case you were wondering I was following something." Aidan adjusted his waistcoat and the cuffs of his shirt before looking around trying to see if he could red eye again. When he didn't seem to see it he sighed again and pinched bridge of his nose and then rubbed the scar that graced his checks and nose. "It seems like I lost it as well." He looked back at his bike before going over to it and picked it up. It was totally useless now bent up and totally out of shape, no way he could ride this.
'Might as well take this back. No point in looking now especially since its gone.' He glanced back at Jun and stared at him for a moment. "Well, try not to hit me wi-" He was suddenly cut off when he saw what he had lost. It was that floating pokemon again and it was right behind Jun. "Its right behind you." Aidan watched as the small skull like pokemon floated around behind Jun its bright red eye taking everything in around it.
After a moment the small pokemon floated through Jun and towards Aidan. Soon they were eye to eye and Aidan just stared at the small pokemon that stared right back. He was pretty sure it was a pokemon but he couldn't really be sure. Even if it was a pokemon he had no idea what kind it was or even what type.

"Oh damn, s**t's gettin' physical now." Mike said with a proverbial tug on the collar as he watched Torkoal rocket forward like the flaming dreidel from Hell. The fire attacks he could deal with, but Napalm wouldn't be able to take many of these up close an personal slammers. He'd have to find a way of evading it. "Uh, use your Overheat!" said the now shouting boy. "Aim for the ground and uh, shoot yourself upward! Use the blast to propel you away from Torkoal!"
It took a few seconds for the strategy to initially sink in, but it seemed like a solid idea; at least he hoped it was. The Magby's heart raced as he quickly hopped into the air, watching the ever approaching Pokemon out of the corner of his eye. Napalm gave a silent prayer before firing a point blank Overheat directly at the ground. It was a near instantaneous explosion that sent the little Pokemon soaring into the sky. Needless to say he avoided the attack. The blast knocked the wind out of him, but it was better than taking 170 pounds of spinning death to the face. Napalm landed with a humorous 'piff' a dozen or so yards away near the more populated area of the beach. He stood up and shook his head, happy to have traded a date with a flying turtle with a much more comfortable sand bath. His impressive maneuver was then fittingly rewarded with a stray frisbee to the back of the head. The Magby could practically taste the dry-gritty joy of irony as he spat out the sand force fed to him by the hand of fate. Humorless jerk.
"Sorry little fire dude!" shouted a very shaggy long-haired beach-goer, who ran over to retrieve his toy. "Didn't see you there. Gnarly landing bro." The Magby waved dismissively at the young man as he spit the sand from his beak, accidents happen. "A zen Pokemon." responded the spacey surfer. "Word." Humans sure talked weird, Napalm thought.
Alrighty, back to the battle. Napalm waved good-bye to the strange fellow and made his way back to the fighting grounds, his feet making little sounds as he ran in the sand. After a few moments running he had reached the battlefield. Napalm took his spot once again, looked back to Mike and sighed. Today was certainly an interesting day.

Kilik frowned. Seems that the Larvitar was going to be a sore loser, not that he had anything against that. "Weezing, be careful," he said calmly, "There's not telling what she'd do if provoked. I want you to go with Smokescreen and hide yourself." The boy crossed his arms over his chest. He'd never seen a Pokemon act like that before and he felt bad for both Larvitar and Kasiya. One for the sheer fact that they were no longer working together, but for the amount of embarrassment that they had to be feeling at the moment. Of course, he could've been totally wrong and neither one of them felt anything to this situation. Kilik tapped his bicep with his finger and pursed his lips. Poor girl. He had sort of hoped that this battle would've gone off without a hitch.
Weezing glared down at the ground, watching as the Larvitar ran about smashing all sorts of rocks. He had to admit to himself that he was scared, but it's not like she could reach him way up here. Following orders like a good boy, the Gas Pokemon let out another belch of black smoke to cover the sands and the air around him. Within the cloud, Weezing pondered (with what little mind there was to ponder with) if he ever acted like that as a Koffing. Most likely not...
Cable clapped his hands together. That was easy! He could take on Pelipper all day long! As he began to walk away, though, he heard a loud thud behind him. Something had landed. Elekid slowly turned around and found himself being flung into a wall by something feathery. He hit, hard, and slowly pulled himself up from the ground, glancing up to see what had hit him. A massive Pelipper, at least twice the size of the one he just took care of, was sitting adjacent him. This Pelipper looked downright nasty - it had an eye patch over its left eye, scars embedded in its bill, and a small chunk was missing from his beak. Cable prepared himself - this was going to be a much more difficult battle than the last.

Ann didn't like to let her guard down often, as she was a very strong willed woman and she knew in her heart she should be able to handle situations like these. However, with Ampersand's arm around her shoulders she was able to relax, knowing that he would never intentionally let anything happen to her. She took a calming breath and looked around, now seeing the true beauty of the landscape spreading out before them. "It is amazing up here," she said quietly, taking in as much as she could. "You can see all of Slateport from up here... and the view of the ocean is amazing." Now that she'd calmed down somewhat and she could take in the sights without feeling like she was going to be sick, her fear of heights was the last thing on her mind.
It was also quite nice to be sitting up there in Ampersand's arms. He was strong and well-built, but not to the point where you were just hugging muscle. Not only that but he was warm to hold on to, and the wind was kind of chilly up that high. Ann shivered slightly and moved a bit closer to Ampersand, wishing she'd brought her jacket. "Sorry... I'm a bit cold," she said sheepishly, giving the impression she'd move back if he wanted her to.
=-=-=-=-= While it was true that Luffy was faster than Combusken, Jaeshan had been expecting for Robin to lead off with Fake Out - not that he wouldn't have started with it as well, had one of his Pokemon known it. "Look out, Combusken!" he called. Combusken watched the monkey carefully, closing her eyes when she saw him leap over top of her. She knew what would come next, as she'd seen it happen in the previous battle and she took a deep breath before taking a large step forward, using the powerful muscles in her leg to push off from the ground. She brought her arms together as though she were diving and with unexpected grace, she somersaulted forward, avoiding the hit, though her attack for this round was forfeit nevertheless, the only advantage being that Combusken hadn't been hurt. Her graceful movement brought her back to a standing position and she whirled around to face the Aipom, preparing for whatever was to come next.
"Nice moves," Jaeshan called out, though he was certain that if Luffy were any stronger Combusken would have not been able to do anything to defend herself, short of knowing something like Protect. Then again, that wasn't a bad idea. Jaeshan made a mental note to himself as he watched Combusken on the field. A Blaziken, he thought, grinning.

After the third attempt to recall the distraught Larvitar into her Pokeball, Kasiya sighed and put the sphere away. Through the Sandstorm she could hear the murmurs of the crowd and she definitely knew they were talking about her and her lack of control over her Pokemon. She clenched her fists and held them at her sides, trying to pretend like they weren't shaking horribly. Just as she felt the tears starting again, black smoke poured down from above where Weezing was, and Kasiya growled slightly, and shook her head. "How cowardly," she muttered softly, fanning the air in front of her face to help rid herself of the smoke. "Hiding up there in the smoke like a big baby instead of fighting." Her words were hardly audible to even herself and she closed her eyes. "Hang on, Ada, I'm coming to you," she called out, amazed to find that her voice, unlike her hands, was firm and steady.
The girl soon discovered that walking headlong into the Sandstorm/Smokescreen was a very bad idea and all at once she couldn't see and she could hardly breath, let alone ignore the sharp pains from the stinging sand on her exposed skin. She dropped to her knees and felt her way forward, calling out for her Larvitar as she did so. Ada, on the other hand, heard her trainer calling out to her and she stopped her futile assault on the large rock, turning towards her trainer when she felt the girl's hand on her shoulder. Kasiya didn't really know what to say so all she did was pull the Larvitar close to her. "It's okay, I'm here for you, no matter what."
The Larvitar closed her eyes and sighed, letting her trainer's voice soothe her. She no longer cared about the battle, or what Weezing was doing, or even the fact that she was still poisoned. All she knew was that Kasiya cared for her, and that was all that mattered. Though impossible to through the thick smoke created by the poisonous Pokemon, Ada's small body had started to give off light, and Kasiya squinted through the haze to try and get a better look, though to no avail. The Larvitar's body grew larger, and her arms, legs and tail seemed to be drawn in before vanishing completely. The light faded, and now a much larger Pupitar was standing where the small Larvitar had been only moments ago. Upon seeing the successful evolution Kasiya only smiled and inched backwards. "Show 'em what you can do, Ada!" she shouted. The Pupitar turned to face the rocks she'd been previously attacking and she narrowed her eyes at them, causing them to glow as though they'd been grabbed by the abilities of a Psychic-type Pokemon. With a grunt Ada flung them upwards, knowing that the chances of her Ancientpower actually hitting Weezing weren't high, but at least it was something.
=-=-=-=-= "Heh, I can't believe that worked!" Flannery laughed, though she did feel a little bad for the Magby as she watched him get smacked in the back of the head with a Frisbee. While Napalm was recovering from that and working his way back to the battlefield Flannery closed her eyes and thought for a moment. There had to be something she could have Torkoal do that wouldn't end in a trip to the ER for Napalm. Body Slam is out, and I don't want to chance Flamethrower or Heat Wave... dammit this is hard! She could go for Ember again, but she was sure Mike would just have Napalm counter it the same way.
"Ugh..." she mumbled, her brow furrowed with frustration. She tapped her cheek lightly with a slender finger before her eyes lit up. "Aha, that's it!" She crouched down and beckoned for the tortoise to come closer, which he did, and she spoke to the Pokemon in a soft voice. "Okay Torkoal, I want you to get ready to use Fire Spin when Napalm is ready to continue, but you're not trying to hit him per se, just try to block him in and keep him from moving. Let's see how creative they can get with this one." With her instructions finished she stood up and nodded. "Torkoal, Fire Spin!" She knew the attack wasn't very damaging and it was more used for trapping an opponent than anything else, and she hoped that Mike would understand what she was trying to achieve with the usage of this particular move. Torkoal shuffled back out into the sand, inhaling a bit before he released a swirling torrent of flames, though it broke form quickly and spread into a wall, blocking the Magby's path. The fiery tortoise inhaled again, getting ready to repeat his actions as soon as Napalm had dealt with the first wall of flames.

In an attempt to block the advances of that blue cotton bird (who was apparently still upset with him, though he couldn't figure why), the Smeargle hastily smeared the air in front of him with a green paint that solidified into a strange wall of sorts. That's gotta be Protect, Sae thought to himself. However, it seemed that his previous attacks had tired him out considerably, and the green wall shattered even before Ulani reached it. Which allowed the Swablu to take her revenge on her opponent quite handsomely, and the only thing that the poor painter could do was flail his arms and try to get the bloody bird off him.
Finally, when the Swablu needed a breath of air, she swooped up once more, thus relieving the hapless Smeargle. By this time, however, he looked pretty battered, lying on the ground, all out of fight. For all the difficulties in reaching the crafty little fellow, it sure did appear that he didn't have much brawn behind his art after all. It'd be overkill to send Ulani in on another assault, M.A. realized. "Lani, stop," she said, halting the bird who was very ready to ambush the prostrate artist. Said artist seemed to concede his loss too, waving his tail -- that he had painted a white flag onto -- to and fro, obviously spent.
Well, this brunette trainer didn't seem too incompetent -- she was good enough to brave the world, anyways. Not too pushy, either; he hated pushy people. Not too sore on the eyes, either, the Smeargle thought, eying the girl from his position on the ground. Nothing close to the curvy models his old master used to adore, but she had a cute face, freckly with cloudy blue eyes and a sunny smile. 'Usted es bastante buena,' the artist wrote in the sky in his pretty little cursive before closing his eyes and dozing off.
Leaving M.A. a little confused for two reasons. First, she didn't understand Spanish, though his usage of it explained why his English spelling sucked so bad. Secondly, since the Smeargle was technically someone else's Pokemon, though she wasn't sure if his previous master ever caught it in the conventional sense, she wasn't sure that she was supposed to use that empty Pokeball on her belt that she was fingering.
It was good, then, that despite Smeargle's appearance of sleep, his tail twitched and wrote this: Si -- Yes -- puede usarlo, the Ball. So M.A., with no further ado except cocking her head to the side in a smile, tossed that ball gently at the snoring artist. Though Ulani intercepted it and redirected said ball more harshly at him, conking him on the head.

A stab of guilt nibbled at Jun's heart-strings as he witnessed Aidan's obvious displeasure, the word 'displeasure' taking it mildly. "Ya hurt or anything?" Goddamnit, his career was over before it even started if Aidan sued. Though technically it was the police department's vehicle. Yeah, he could weasel out of that somehow. "Sorry again," he said, meaning it more this time, partially in order to save his own skin and partially in genuine penitence. "I can pay for the damages. Or have Ronnie fix it, she'd make it look even better I bet --"
Jun then felt an indescribable chill run through his chest, from his back to his front, just as he started to look behind him as to find out just what Aidan had been looking for. He shivered, forgetting his initial objective to check out his rear, and happened to look back at Aidan.
"Oh. It's a ghost," Jun said, matter-of-factly. Very nonchalant. No expression in his face. Oh, but here it came -- the mass hysteria. "A GH-GUH-GHOST?!" he squeaked, his voice higher than a choir's soprano group. Not tearing his eyes away from the frightening skull with a glowing red eye, he scrambled over to the closest thing to him -- Leeron -- and practically leaped into her arms, causing the Psychic type to grunt a little. She wasn't exactly a beefcake, even if she was a teensy bit curvy, so even Jun's slight weight was a bit of a challenge. But the poor guy was so terrified; she couldn't let him down. Though from the ghost's general aura, she couldn't detect any hostility.

While she didn't really seem to be all to into him Ampersand was just fine with that. It wasn't like they saw each other all the time, though he should probably make more of an effort to see her, it wasn't like she was hard to find. He sighed somewhat and looked over Slateport from there perch on the Farris Wheel. "Well, I happen to be very warm, I don't have a jacket for you though." He was very glad that he wasn't the skinny little boy anymore or he would be in the same boat as Ann was.
So both Ann and Ampersand watched Slateport for a few moments before they started on their way down. They may not be saying much but Ampersand still felt very comfortable around the woman. He sighed slightly when they got down and hopped off the cart they had been on before helping Ann out. "Well, even if you didn't really like the ride thanks for coming with me. If you want we can go pick up a jacket for you?"
~~~~~~~~~~
Robin was a bit disappointed that their attack had missed but she tossed that to the side, they could still show their skills off, besides this was a practice battle. She watched as Luffy still stood at the ready watching the Combusken with determined eyes. Luffy wasn't disheartened and she shouldn't be either. "All right that didn't work Luffy so lets show them your Fury Swipes!" She grinned as she saw her pokemon grin and nod at the attack choice.
When his attack had missed he had been a bit surprised but this chicken was pretty powerful and so it shouldn't be to surprising. He would just have to be more aware in the battle now knowing that his 'enemy' was stronger then him. When he heard the call for a Fury Swipes attack he grinned, he would make sure this attack hit, or at least make that chicken dance to avoid it. Luffy took off again dashing forward on all four feet his tail trailing behind him. This time he was going to try a face first approach. When he reached his feathered opponent Luffy lashed out with both his hands and tail. For some reason Luffy felt like he should have another tail for some reason, how cool would that be? Another tail! Well he only had one and that was what he attacked with.
The piercing screech that Jun had let out was enough to put most pokemon to shame. Aidan couldn't hide the wince that appeared on his face. The poor ghost though did not like the loud sound at all and moved through him to hide behind Aidan, he did not like the scary she-man. The poor already beat up boy's body was suddenly ice cold as the ghost passed through him. "Jun could you please not scream anymore. I believe you scared it." He glanced back at the small ghost pokemon who was hiding behind him.
He looked over at Jun for a second wondering if he knew what kind of pokemon this was. "Do you know what kind of pokemon this is?" He quickly looked back at the... whatever it was. "You are a pokemon right?" The small ghost just looked up at him with its red eye behind the skull mask. Aidan frowned slightly at that, it seemed the little guy didn't even know. He couldn't help but feel a bit connected to the small thing, it didn't know where it was or what it was doing either. He wondered how it even got here, or why it had probably been the one who was bugging him earlier. "Were you the one who was following me earlier?"
At the mention of earlier the small ghost seemed to, well sorta brighten up it was a ghost so it was hard to say it brightened up at all. It seemed to get more enthusiastic would probably be a better word. Anyway it floated up so that it was eye level with Aidan and started nodding and making all sorts of excited sounds. Of course Aidan didn't understand a word of it but he took that as a yes.
The Pokeball twitched to the side, but the movement was barely noticeable. If he wasn't asleep already, M.A. was sure Ulani's intemperate shot at his head sure took him out. Fellow didn't have much fight power, but he did paint real pretty, M.A. thought with a happy sigh. Sae couldn't help but chuckle again -- his little sister's blitheness never ceased to slowly creep into him.
"Well, we better head to the PokeCenter, so the fellow can get some proper rest and your little Swablu can get cleaned up," Saebum said, indicating with his head how dirty Ulani was with water and sand. The bird was still indignant. Looked like this grudge was gonna hold. Not willing to be seen so dirty, the bird recalled herself into her own Pokeball, leaving the siblings on their own.
And so the two meandered to said benevolent institution, arm in arm. "Say, when your little mafia head, Daemyn, wakes up, he's gonna be in for a surprise. Two new faces to see," Sae smirked while they walked, referring to Tora's evolution and the newly caught Smeargle. He always loved making fun of the booger. Probably why the canine didn't share his love with Sae, even if he was M.A.'s brother.
SHALALALALALLALALALALALA++++
"That's a Pokemon?" Jun hoarsely whispered, not taking the transition between soprano back to tenor quite so flawlessly. Now, Jun knew enough about making things fabulous, but he didn't know very much about Pokemon. It was the same as his knowing what vitamins were good for what parts of the body, but not knowing how to cook to save anyone's poor life.
Well, if it's a Pokemon, then it wasn't the undead coming to get him. Or his mother from the grave trying to chastise her son for being irresponsible and nearly killing a pedestrian. Or bicyclist, whatever.
Jun got over the fear pretty quick, and returned to his typical diva self. "Um, okay, as nice as this little reunion thing is that you're having, it's getting reaaal dark and chilly out here. Can't we take this back to Solaceon? I'm taking you all home, you won't be able to walk all the way back with that injured leg you're not hiding very well," he said. He didn't think to remember that people generally were terrified of his motor skills.
Five minutes around this hapless Aidan fellow, and Jun was already taking years off the guy's life.
"M-Mom?" an incredulous voice said, not five feet away from Mai. Upon observation, the speaker was a little boy, probably not much older than nine or ten years of age or so. He had messy, jet-black hair, and eyes that looked like shiny, green-tinged obsidian rock; shiny, yes, but not shiny with the innocent gleam of childhood. No, there was something a little odd there, something lurking and insidious. Something definitely not quite right in the crooked smirk that plastered itself onto the child's face. And what kind of child had a giant Ursaring hovering over him, shielding him from the Sandstorm from the nearby battle, a bear with malice and scars inscribed all over its face?
"I knew it. I knew that b****** couldn't kill you. You were always smarter than him. You just faked it, didn't you?" the boy said, demonic glee filling his face. "Just to get away from his idiotic face, I don't blame you. Don't blame you for leaving. But won't you take me with you this time? I swear I won't be trouble," the child gushed, coming closer to Mai. Cautiously, though, as if at any moment he might run.
He then looked at Leo, and fear suddenly washed over his face. "I -- I forgot I wasn't supposed to come to you when you had a customer. S-s-sorry, sorry! It's just I haven't seen you so long, I forgot..." he whispered, clinging onto the oversized bear. Who actually flinched slightly before easing. How the big bear was scared of the tiny kid was beyond the world. Said kid, however, looked like he was torn between leaving the scene and staying to hear the voice of his long dead mother.
Mike scratched his chin at the current predicament. Poor Flannery. he thought. Having to handicap herself so much for little ol' me. The boy smiled, he appreciated Flannery helping him like this. Napalm was so close to evolving, and he needed every little push he could get. He'd have to make sure to treat her to something nice later, she deserved it for being so helpful.
"Alright Napalm, let's see you punch a hole through that wall with your Psychic." Mike clenched his fist and threw a quick jab. "Get right in Torkoal's face!" Perhaps not the brightest of plans, but he was always quick with an idea and this was a test match, so why not just throw caution to the wind and run head-first into it?
Napalm recoiled slightly as the initial burst of flames pushed him back. Boy was that turtle tough! Just the force alone was enough to almost knock him on his butt. After he regained his footing, Napalm began to concentrate on yet another psychic attack. The Magby launched his attack and ran forward; he only had a few second window so he had to be fast. The attack raced forward, followed by the little Pokemon. When it was just about near the wall, Napalm threw out his hands and parted them, forcefully disbanding the attack. The resulting rush of air parted the flaming wall just long enough for the Magby to jump through, but not before stealing a quick lick on the leg that was just a bit too slow. Napalm, now visibly fatigued, ran towards the Torkoal, both he and Mike hoping his unexpected bull rush would grant them an opportunistic move.
