My fondest desire was always to carve the perfect ice figure... and to imbue it with life...
*He shook himself and seemed suddenly to snap out of it, whirling away from the ice butterfly to face Daegonna*
You called me. Its been mere hours. You cannot go a whole day yet?

Daegonna watched him. He looked almost dreamy at the thought of sculpting something of ice, and breathing life into it. She tilted her horned head to one side with curiosity. Then he turned his attention back to her. She shifted uneasily at his question, then shook her head. She definitely didn't mean to irritate him by calling him, but as he'd said, they were stuck with this at the moment. "I thought I would be...more used to it, by now, but..." She shrugged. "This place, it's...It has much of you in it." It was like how you don't always know you're hungry until you see food, and then suddenly you're starving. The logic made sense to her, even if he wouldn't understand. The Chasm was full of little traces of him, echoes and memories of his presence, his thoughts. Being in it Ice's domain, constantly surrounded by reminders of their bond, seemed to put an odd weight on the link between them.

*Ice harrumphed and walked away, over to the table where he dropped the tendons he was holding. They turned to ash instantly. He sat down and snapped out orders for vitae to the unseen servants that forever loitered about. Then he spoke to Dae once more*
What if I said no, hmm? Locked the door and took the key back?
*No malice behind it, genuine question. He watched her intently*

Daegonna watched him go, biting her lip. Would he refuse? It would affect him too, but he probably wouldn't care as much. He had little or nothing to lose to her. She had a lot she could lose. His question seemed to echo her thoughts. She thought hard. "I honestly don't know. You said without renewing the bond, I would whither, that it would force me to go to you, in any way it could." She paused. "I might opt not to do anything at all, and see which of us broke first. If I understand right, you need me as much as I need you. I might try appealing to you in ways that would doubtless shame me forever afterwards. I might try to escape, and get to you before it forced me to do something I would always regret. I might let myself whither and starve, trusting that sooner or later you'd decide you needed me in some form or another." She wasn't at all sure about any of her answers. She was just telling him what came to mind at that exact instant in time. "If I were truly desperate and angry, I might try to use the bond to compel you to come to me." Her honesty might get her killed, or worse, and she knew it. She wondered if he'd be angered by her last statement, but she had told him for a reason. It was not a threat at all. It was just conjecture. She did still remember what had happened to the last person he bonded with, but Ice had asked, and she had answered. "I might even manage to come up with some kind of clever idea that would be rather less likely to result in eternal suffering." She added. She was trembling, now, aching to cross the room and touch him. But for now, she waited, watching Ice intently. She felt rather like a deer being coaxed across a busy road. She was fairly sure she was gonna get hit.

That you're reasoning so easily says you dont need me as much as you think you d right now. If you were truly in need, you would have shouted 'no' before anything else.
*he was still calm. The question hadnt been one of his loaded ones, designed to get his victim into trouble in a way that they woudl blame themself for whatever he did to them next. He rested his head on his hand and stared at her. The wolf stood up, between them. its heartbeat was so loud today. So loud, it was like a steady drum inside the close walls of the tunnels between their beings. th-thump. Th-thump. Th-thump. The wolf beat its tail against the floor in time, staring at the warm tiger further down the tunnel. Th-thump, th-thump, th-thump.*
Your honesty is noted. Know that you are new to this game, I am not. You would crave long before I did and I can sate myself on much less than you can right now. I can bre compelled however. I am much more... pliable... though, when I feel some kind of gratitude for me running to each beck and call. I will fill your need now, and tomorrow, in exchange for you mnaging to stay and sleep in my presence for an entire night tonight. With my word not to touch or harm you more than a cursory link.
*The heartbeat grew more and more loud, willing her heartbeat into time with it as ICe stared quietly, and calmly, with those pearly pink eyes, a saint and a devil all in one*

His reply made some sense, to her. She probably didn't need him as much as she thought she did. It just felt like it. As he spoke, she remained where she was, still uncertain. Between them, she sensed his wolf waiting, watching. It's heartbeat echoed in her head. Her tiger crouched low to the ground, it's tail twitching from side to side in time with the wolf's echoing heartbeat, wide golden eyes fixed on it's icy counterpart. Again, Daegonna had not meant to seem ingrateful. She had assumed he needed her as often as she needed him, and that he was just making her ask him. "I thought you needed me as often as I need you." She admitted. "I figured you were just amusing yourself by manipulating me into asking for what you know I fear." She wasn't trying to defend herself in the least. She was grateful to be alive, whole, and not in worlds of agony. But he had forced the link on her, trapped her in it, and now it in turn forced her to be with him. She was grateful that he was willing enough to come to her when she needed him, and grateful that he had not taken advantage of their bond to abuse her, but she loathed the bond itself. When he explained his conditions for indulging her neediness, she pursed her lips, for a moment, then nodded. Fair? No. Of course not. But after seeing his lust, his need, when he went too long without her touch, she was not interested in finding out what the bond would make her do.

Im a fiend Daegonna, and a Beast. You know this, Princess. Nothing I do or ask is ever fair, and I do not value those who do not attempt to fight back. That is why you, among other reasons. The status as my vassal, a host for my Syn, is shared by many. No others share the bond however. Come to me.
*He held out his hand, smiling faintly, but not maliciously*
I will not harm you. It is not in my interest. I have vested much in you, always have faith I will not throw it away, though I will take steps to amuse myself when I can. Im very old, and I have a warped sense of humour. At times, I am very easily amused.

Daegonna's smirk was dry and a bit bitter. She knew he was cruel, capricious, and sadistic. She knew he enjoyed the struggle of domination, and she knew at the same time she could never stop fighting him. She might not openly challenge him, but she couldn't simply submit. It wasn't in her nature, any more than it was in his. She didn't come immediately, she studied his smile thoughtfully, suspicious as ever. His words weren't a comfort, per say, but when she looked at it through his reasoning, she knew he at least mostly meant it. Harming her wouldn't really do him much good, with how much time and power he had invested in her. The butterfly that had been fluttering about was listing near to the ground, as if weary. Daegonna reached out, and picked it up, carrying it delicately as she went to Ice's side. She set the butterfly down on the table, and reached out for the hand Ice offered.

*Ice smirked and clsoed his fingers around her hand, then jerked, pulling her against him. Where the line of his chest met her body, the thundering noise of his pulse crashed through them both, his leer awful as he draped his other arm around her, fingers stroking the back of her neck*
So warm, Princess....
*the wolf rubbed its flank down the tigers, snarling and growling playfully, niping at the heat of its neck, though Ice did not even lick at Dae's as he purred*

Daegonna's fingers lightly wrapped around Ice's hand, then she gasped as he sharply pulled her against him. She instinctively brought the claws of her free hand to bear, and they bit into his chest when he pulled her up against it. His heartbeat thundered in her head, and she shuddered with something between relief and fear as cold raced through her. His leer made her very very nervous, but she didn't pull away. As his fingers lightly stroked the back of her neck, a little shiver ran down her spine. He was as cold as ever, and his icy fingers raised goosebumps on her warm flesh. Her tiger pressed up against the wolf, nipping right back, it's growl rather less playful than the wolf's, but not quite threatening either.

*Ice turned his head as one of the shambling ghouls arrived with his vitae, which he took and supped at as he held on to Dae's wrist. The scent of blodo rose between them and Ice smirked, sly eyes sliding to look up at her*
One day... you could be offering me your vitae. Always weigh the risks. If you call, I will come. Always, I will come for you Princess. If your need is genuine... you have nothing to fear. Soon, you will be able to control your urges better. A day, then two, eventually, a week without NEEDING me. Always though... ALWAYS, will you WANT to be close. Learning the differance is important. You have seen what denial of need can look like.

Daegonna glanced up as one of the ghouls stepped in, bearing the vitae Ice had requested. Ice's wicked pink eyes drifted up to Daegonna, and she shivered, careful as ever not to meet his gaze. At his words, she tensed. She was sure she would never willingly offer anybody her blood, Ice least of all. Daegonna had a new set of fears, now. If Ice could last longer than she without contact, he could easily demand a price every time she called. She'd have to make it as rare an occurrence as she could possibly bear to. Somehow, his promise that he would always come for her seemed like a threat. She was uncomfortably aware of his grip on her slim wrist now. She debated trying to pull away, and opted against it, remembering she was trying not to test his patience. Instead, she leaned forward, and brushed her cheek along his brow, careful to avoid the mane of needle-like hairs. "Thank you for keeping your word." She murmured, after a few minutes' struggle with her pride.

*The Beast eased off. He let go of her wrist and nuzzled her neck, licking just beneath her ear before pulling back, giving her the option to move away if she wanted. Truly, he had not lied when he said he was easily amused and appeased at times*
You are welcome, Princess. To take from you would ruin everything. I give you my solemn word... I will not rape you, nor harm you. You ARE safe here... until such time as it is safe for you to go home. But who knows? Prehaps by then, you will be comfortable here. After all... once, you would have abhorred me even touching you. I can be kind Princess, for all I am cruel by nature. Prehaps Beauty soothes the Beast, hmm?
*Grinning, the fiend downed his vitae, then poured more from the pitcher now on the table*

Daegonna jerked back a bit, when he nuzzled her neck, instinctively lifting her hands to ward him off. The usual thrill of fear raced through her. When he withdrew, so did she. She stepped back, lightly rubbing her neck, unharmed though it was. She idly wondered if he was making loopholes for himself by omission in that solemn oath, but she opted not to test her luck. She was satisfied with his promise. When he commented that she might become comfortable there, Daegonna managed to restrain a disbelieving laugh. She knew she could never be at ease with Ice, no matter his promises. He was a deceitful and sadistic fiend, no matter how nice he played with her now. He was indeed being as kind as he knew how, and she appreciated that -- but she knew there were limits, and that while he was kind, he was, as far as she knew, without compassion. At his question, she simply gave him a thin smile. She turned her gaze to the butterfly she'd set on the table. It was slightly melted where it had touched her skin, making it's wings even more misshapen. She idly wondered if she could find similar spells for different animals, if she could make that spark of magic last longer, if different materials might prolong the spell's effects, and so on.

So distrusting... you do realise, I suppose, that it was people like you who make my kind, and made me, the way I am?
*Leaving her with that question hanging between them, Ice stood and opened the portal back to his workspace, though his subject would be long dead by now*
Do not let anything you create leave this room. Again, I will not be held responsible for the consequences if you do not comply, for it wil not be be myself you will have to fear. Bailey had often been described as the worse of us two. Whereas I can maintain prolonged periods of violence, Bailey is more prone to berserk rages. You are too pretty to suffer his wrath. And possibl too frail.
I will return in a few hours, Princess. Make sure you eat. My library is adjoined to my rooms, shoudl you require something to do while I am gone.
