Skizz is the smartest and most adorable 12 year old ever!
WJ, with your view of things there's shortly going to be a 12 year old driving around.. and in a couple years, going to college..

That'd only reaffirm my belief that Skizz is the smartest 12 year old ever!

I'm back!

*collapses*

The Gaia panel was fun...but the only thing that bothered me was that the girl who won the giant Kiki wasn't even a Gaian (she was with her friends, who WERE Gaians, but she had gotten one of the gold cards and DJ Hellsing used those to determine the winner).

Otherwise the rest of the con was fun. I'll update later with more information.

Alrighty then.

The adventures of Luna, Kane, and Stream at Connecticon.

Thursday

So, our little con adventure began Thursday evening, as we went to get our badges in the evening, thus avoiding the Friday rush for badges. Of course, with this being Connecticon, even THAT couldn't go smoothly. They didn't have the program booklets printed out, they didn't even have the bags with the free stuff you get at every con ready. I helped stuff them, since Stream was being a good little boy and beginning his volunteering stint and I was bored.

Now, Stream volunteered a lot last year, so he got his freebie badge, in addition to his volunteer badge. Kane had preregistered, so HE was all set. But I busted my a** working for Guest Relations last year (and dealing with Vic Mignogna should qualify me for saint status), and I was SUPPOSED to have a free badge this year. But was I even in the system? Nope. I had to come back Friday morning to get my badge.

So finally around 8pm we decided to leave and head back home. We had arranged for our hotel room for Friday and Saturday night, so we decided to finish packing and get some sleep.

Friday

So, Friday morning, we get there early for a couple of reasons. One, so I could get my badge. And two, because they scheduled the first of the Gaia panels at 10am. So, we get on site a little before 8am (when registration opens), and I attempt to get my badge. I ask the head of volunteers (Jim, who is the most capable person working at that con IMO) where I need to go, and he told me to get my badge from registration. So, I go to them, and they tell me to go talk to JIM!!! Finally, after me telling them 5 times that Jim told ME to come to registration, I get my badge.

Have I mentioned that Connecticon is a poorly run convention? The regular con-goers might not see it, but working as staff for the past few years, I know, so the snafu with my badge was hardly surprising.

NOW the fun starts. The Dealer's Room doesn't open until 12pm, so I needed to occupy myself until then. Fortunately, the first of two Gaia panels was at 10am, so we waited for that. Have I mentioned that DJ Hellsing is absolutely adorable? He's so snuggly I wanted to stuff him into my suitcase and take him home with me. But anyways, the panel room is surprising full. I wasn't expecting a lot of Gaians to be there (having to wait in the registration line, some people not coming until later in the day or on Saturday), but we had people up against the wall, on the floors, all over the place. So, he told us about some new stuff going into the Gaia store (I want an Onmonmon hat and a WTF hat!!!), we got to see some screen shots of zOMG, and a new flash game coming out soon where you get to build your own robot (it's called Love Factory), and of course, the free stuff that DJ Hellsing regularly tosses out into the audience. It was a lot of fun.

So, when the panel was over, Stream had to go back to work. He was helping line people up for the Dealer's Room. Kane and I wandered around for a bit (we wanted to go to the Dealer's Room too, but we were going to wait until the room had been open for a while. We spotted one of of regular guests of honor, Daniel Kevin Harrison (a NY voice actor who did the voice of Hiro from Gravitation), sitting on the steps with his wife, just watching the people. We spoke to them for a bit, and then went on.

One of my friends was running a bunch of panels over the weekend, and I wanted to go to her first one, but Stream called me and needed me to run an errand for him (I wasn't working for the con again, dammit!!!), but I love him and all that, so I helped him out. Anyways, after that, I saw that another Guest of Honor who I had met last year (and had a lot of fun with), was running a panel, so I went to that one. It was Kevin McKeever, one of the guys working for Harmony Gold (and Robotech). He gave us free Robotech shirts for asking questions, and at the end of the panel, he had one left, so he gave it to me for Stream (awwwwwww!).

So, after that panel, I met up with Kane again, and we decided that it was time to brave the Dealer's Room. So...much...stuff... crying

So, we have to pace ourselves and make sure we save some money for the inevitable deals on Sunday. But it was sooooooo hard. After a few DVDs, manga, and a few plushies, Kane and I go back to wandering. We're not Main Events people, so we were looking for more panels to go to. Stream joined us when he was free, and we wandered happily through the con, going to panels, going back into the Dealer's Room, meeting new people, and going to the local tavern for lunch and drinks.

Our evening ended with Stream and I taking a dip in the hotel hot tub to rest our aching feet, and Kane waiting for our chinese food (those poor delivery guys were in and out of the hotel all weekend LOL).

Auntie Luna will continue her story later.

I bought these cool Panther claw weapons. I have a pic I will load up later. They are real blades so I couldnt really display them, but they are cool, and they had replicas of Ichigo's sword from BLEACH, which was really really sweet and really really real.
