When Lavi didn't pry her for more information she sighed. She knew she'd have to tell him regardless, but she didn't even know how to start. I mean it was such a simple thing to tell someone, that you've simply broken up with the person you were with. But in a way it was the most difficult thing in the world.
Her voice was quiet as she started, her eyes downcast, "The reason Luci has come to live at the Order now....is because..Tyki and I..are no longer together anymore. And we both decided it would be for the best if Luci was in my custody."

Lavi watched Liv with a frown as she told him the reason for Luci being at the Order. He didn’t know a lot about her relationship with the particular Noah, but she hadn’t been talking about him at all lately and if things had been going well she probably wouldn’t have been spending so much time at the Order in the first place, or so he thought. He watched Luci run around in the distance, understanding why Liv hadn’t wanted to talk about this particular subject in front of her. The little girl hadn’t seemed very troubled by her new living arrangement, though, and he wondered whether she even knew about the problems her parents were having.
“I’m sorry to hear that…” He grimaced apologetically, placing a hand on her shoulder and squeezing it gently. He felt a little bad for constantly bothering her with his problems while she might have been dealing with some of her own the entire time. “What happened?”

Liv knew that Lavi, more than anyone, sincerely meant that he was sorry for what had happened. Even despite the Noah being the enemy, Liv knew that he cared for her, and that losing the one you love, regardless of who they were, was nothing to brush off lightly. She smiled at the squeeze of his hand on her shoulder. Then the question came. What did happen, exactly? They didn't fight. No one was unfaithful. It wasn't because of any disapproval by either the Order or the Earl and Family.
She took a deep breath and let the air out in a long sigh, "It wasn't any one thing, really. Just the culmination of it all...he was hardly around. It was one thing to do that to me, but with Luci...I just...couldn't do it any longer. I think some part of me gave up on loving him. He'll always mean something to me, but...love isn't enough to make it anymore, Lavi."
