(I know right? O: <3 )

Darren blinked before smiling again. "Big Sis, you're a very kind person." He finished off his pudding and moved onto eating some of his vegetables.

((The sad thing is I can sing that song -_-" AMV is still awesome though XD))

Star blinked at the comment before chuckling softly and taking a drink of her tea, "I know of quite a few people who'd disagree with that."

((Lol, makes me wanna watch the rest of the anime...))

Star shrugged and went back to picking at her food, "I've been with the order for a long time, and I've never been... social," She explained.

((Hi Sil~!
I might disappear pretty soon, but I shouldn't be gone long.))

"You, surprisingly, don't irritate me," She smirked, "Unless you happen to be being a brat-which you are most of the time."

Quote:
((Awww sorry John ;_; I should've saved you from Liv's company. Sleep well!))

As it turned out, Sil only liked forwardness and honesty when it wasn’t directed towards something that she couldn’t—no, wouldn’t change. The change that happened was subtle, something Sil was not. Her delicate features had only a hint of sadness on them before, a marked improvement from how it had been several months ago had she talked about this exact subject. The sadness, while it didn’t disappear, changed in it’s nature; it was hurt and disbelief from the words that came from Liv’s lips. Her attention snapped to her, dark eyes narrowing incredulously as if she honestly could not imagine Liv of all people saying that, and as Sil realized this moment was rooted in reality then came the anger.

“I don’t even understand… why you would mention this,” Sil said tersely, her voice quivering slightly under the weight of her own feelings. Her voice hadn’t raised; it had heightened, but in a way that hinted at hurt and betrayal. She had gone out on a limb confessing anything to Liv at all when she had been keeping her reasoning a secret, and to have her turn around and say something like that had been throwing her trust back in her face. “Lavi and Cross have nothing to do with each other. Even if Lavi and I had stayed friends, Cross and I would still not be together,” she was honestly a mesh of horrified and angry that Liv had managed to make her relationship with Lavi sound like he was just a replacement because she felt adamant that couldn’t be further from the truth. “The correlation between the two is non-existent. The fact that you even…”

The apology, the attempt to right the words fell on deaf ears; she may have not had Lavi’s perfect memories but this moment resonated heavily without the extra help. Even if Sil fit herself into Liv’s ideal world—broke things off with Lavi and ran off to marry Cross, that ideal world was impossible. She would be leverage, killed likely. Cross as well. Lavi would be heartbroken, Sil would be heartbroken, their friendship would be over. The risk that they had taken when they decided to be together had been far deeper than taking a risk in romance; they risked their long, extensive and deep friendship on the stakes that they could love one another, that their relationship could go even deeper. Even if they somehow managed to stay friends and be civil to one another, their relationship could never be the same. It had stopped being the same the second Sil had let her feelings slip out so many months before.

As much as she wanted to yell at Liv, tell her that what her and Lavi had decided to do with their relationship was none of her business, she managed to keep her angry words tucked beneath her tongue. She swallowed, let out a hot breath through her nose and crossed her arms, finally honing in on her last few sentences. “You talk so much about Lavi’s happiness and throw mine in there like an apologetic footnote,” she stated bitterly, the muscles of her jaw tensing beneath the effort to keep her words as civil as was possible. “For the record, because you didn’t ask, I am really, honestly, truly, happy with what happened between Lavi and I. Even if we only get to spend one day together or a year, I will always be happy I found out what it was like to fall in love with my best friend and how wonderful that feels even if things are so far from perfect it’s laughable.” Her lips pressed together in a tight line, the pink of them paling beneath the pressure. “Life isn't perfect, especially not ours, and the great thing about loving someone is that even if it doesn't turn out the way you wanted it to, you can smile and be happy that you had the chance to try. The only thing I would have regretted was letting this chance pass me by because I was too scared to take a risk that has turned out to be worth it in every way instead of wallowing in what I wish could have been with Cross or anyone else."

With the last of her calm words, she stood up and brushed her hands along her trousers. Her face was a cool, callous mask and she was clearly done defending herself. "Are you and Luci ready to go home?"

"That's not what I meant- I want you to be happy too, not just Lavi- I know it isn't perfect, but- "

Anything Liv could have said would be completely useless. She should have kept her opinion to herself. She didn't mean for it to end this way in the least, and she regretted bringing anything up to begin with. There were any number of other topics she could have chosen, but she had to dig and she had to pry and she had to meddle. She bit her lip and stared down at her lap, her hair falling in her face, masking it. That last thing she wanted was to fight with Sil, to lose one of the only close female companions she had. She loved Sil and she had even risked herself and Luci to help Lavi save her those months ago. She tried to stop her eyes from watering, but just as she had mentioned earlier, she was a crier. Small, silent tears trickled from her cheeks and she tried to wipe them from her face with the back of her gloved hand.

Luci had keen eyes and saw when Sil stood up like she was ready to leave. She hadn't had enough play time, but she knew that Liv would call her over in a second, so she started trotting over already. When she got closer her smile started to fade as she realized that something was wrong. She didn't see Sil's closed-off mask, first noticing Liv's bowed head. She blinked and stepped up in front of her, placing her small hands on Liv's knees, "...Mommy?" she realized that Liv was wiping her face and her eyes widened in surprise, "Mommy are you crying? Is it Daddy?" she put her hands on Liv's wrists and gently tugged her hands from her face to try and see her mother more clearly.

Liv smiled at Luci and laughed a little, "No, no, sweetheart. It's not Daddy. Don't worry about it, alright?" she sniffled once and pet the girl's curls gently, giving her a soft kiss to the forehead.

Luci looked up at Sil and sensed the veiled hostility, no matter how hard she tried to disguise it. Her shoulders fell as she realized what was going on, "You're fighting..." she said very quietly, her tone sad and disappointed.

"No, of course not. Don't be silly," Liv assured Luci, but she wasn't having it.

"Yes you are. You're fighting," Luci crossed her arms in a determined manner.

"Luci...it's nothing for you to be concerned about-" Liv started.

"Of course it is. Sil is Mommy's friend, and Mommy is Sil's friend. And Sil is my friend, too. I don't want fighting, because we all love each other. We're all supposed to love each other, no matter what!" she started to get upset, looking between the two women.

Whether Luci really felt that or she was projecting her repressed feelings about Liv and Tyki, no one could be sure. But she was adamant and beginning to get distressed about the matter. As far as she was concerned her world had been turned around enough that day, and there was no more room for that type of thing. She wanted everyone to love each other and be happy together.
