Komui sighed into his hands, remaining calm and expressionless while Kanda paced around his office. "And did you really think that would cause the American Branch and Central to stop all of their experiments?"
"I can see why this would upset you, and obviously that's why most people are in the dark about this, but for now there's nothing we can do about it," he said in a warning tone, emphasising the 'we'. "Central is willing to do anything to win this war, even if it means doing horrible things to people in order to increase our forces."

Star let a small huff of amusement escape as he ran after her, his exuberance more than a little entertaining to her for reasons she didn't quite know herself, but she honestly didn't think the reason mattered.
It didn't take long for them to reach the cafeteria, and when they did she went straight to the window and ordered her food before leaning back against the wall beside it, waiting for Darren to order his as well.

He knew everything Komui said was true, but that didn't make his anger subside. He twitched his hand, causing Mugen to lift from the sheath a few inches before dropping back down. He did this a couple times as he paced, sighing heavily. He ground his teeth and finally stopped pacing, his back turned to Komui. He centered himself before speaking quietly.
"I care about her. I care about what happens to her. I will not let them lay their hands on her, and if they step foot here they better be prepared. You won't stop me."
He let his hands drop to his sides and he stalked towards the door.

Darren's tail wagged non-stop, he leaned up on his tippytoes and ordered.
He was getting to eat with Star for the first time ever so he was extremely happy.
After he finished ordering he jumped over to Star and flailed his arms.
"Big Sis! You'd never believe what I saw the other day!"

He watched Kanda walk away, a small, barely noticable sad smile on his lips. Komui was glad that the long-haired man had let down some of walls he'd put around himself after the incident, but he couldn't help but notice the irony that he'd become attached to someone like himself.
"Kanda...," he called softly, but with authority. Komui didn't bother to challenge him, and instead tried to caution him. "You of all people know what they're capable of... be careful. There's only so much I can do to help you in this situation."

Darren waved his arms around like it was the most important thing in the world, his cheeks were pink.
"A really, EXTREMELY, cute girl! Seriously! The cutest one i've ever seen- she looked foriegn but it was hard to tell 'cause of how far away she was."

He stopped at the door when Komui spoke his name. He listened to the words and was grateful that they sounded more like concern than a lecture. He didn't relax though, and merely turned his face to the side, not looking back, instead staring at the ground as he spoke again.
"She's going to be sleeping in my room from now on, so I'll need all of her things and a second bed moved from her room into mine."
He said nothing more and slipped out.

Star chuckled softly and rolled her eyes, "And here I thought it'd be something interesting," She said teasingly.
She noticed Jerry putting their food on the counter near the window and nodded her thanks, before grabbing her own and heading toward a relatively empty table, only pausing once to see if he was following.

Komui sighed when he'd disappeared out the door, hoping against the odds that Central wouldn't give them too much trouble. He couldn't deny that Kanda taking care of Chaoe would make him feel a bit better about her Exorcist status, but he knew anything could go wrong.
Walking out the door and away from his paperwork, Komui snuck out to find a few finders to move Chaoe's things, and excused himself to his lab after he'd been given a good enough reason to be out of the office.

Chaoe was asleep in the chair where she was sitting beforehand, the book open across her lap at the page where the huntsman showed up and saved the girl.
Darren grabbed his food and followed after Star, he pouted.
"But Big Siiiiiiiis! I'm being serious! I think her name was 'Yuuka' as Aka told me. She had black hair and the cutest black eyes! It was like looking at a pretty doll!" He was giddy with excitement. "I'm looking foreward to spotting her again soon."
