Chaoe didn't know what to make of his expression, he was smiling but it didn't feel right to her. She smiled back though and nodded. " 'Kay." She stood up and ran off to find a book for them to read.

When she ran off he let out a heavy sigh and leaned over in his chair, resting his elbows on his legs. He put his face in his hands and shook his head from side to side. Why? He let one hand fall uselessly while the other traveled up his forehead, pushing his bangs from his face for a moment before they fell back down. He straightened up when he heard her coming back, leaning back in his chair like nothing was wrong. He put a small smile on, a little more genuine than the last one.

She ran back, holding a big book of fairytales in her arms. "Yu-nii! I found something!" She smiled brightly and walked up next to him, flipping through the pages to the story of Red Riding Hood and holding it up for him to see.

"That's a good choice. Hop up," he patted his lap to signal for her to climb up.

(( Welcome back Sil! c: ))
He wrapped one arm around her and gave her a little squeeze before he flipped the book to the first page with his free hand. He leaned over her shoulder so he could see the words and started to read.
"Many years ago there lived a dear little girl who was beloved by every one who knew her; but her grand-mother was so very fond of her that she never felt she could think and do enough to please this dear grand-daughter, and she presented the little girl with a red riding hood, which suited her so well, that she would never wear anything else, and so was called Little Red Riding Hood.
One day Little Red's mother said to her, "Come, Little Red Riding Hood, here is a nice piece of meat, and a bottle of wine: take these to your grandmother; she is weak and ailing, and they will do her good. Be there before she gets up; go quietly and carefully."
He waited for Chaoe to look at the picture on the page before he turned it.

She stared at the page with big eyes, in wonder of the story and the pictures.

-Livverz- "No- it is good news, it is," she tried to assure him quickly, not wanting him to think she didn't love her own daughter or something else absurd, "It's just...it's complicated. Even though I've been cleared to bring her here to live with me, I'm concerned about how her presence will be received. After how everyone else left their families behind, here I am able to bring my own with me," she tried to explain the parts she was able to.
She thanked him when he took over the mixing for her, smiling appreciatively, "I know Luci needs her mother. I know that all children need their mother, but I feel that a father's presence is also very important. Maybe not as much being that Luci is a girl. You know, boys need a strong father figure so that they can grow up to be good fathers themselves one day. So in that respect, Luci doesn't need her father as much. But...she still needs him to some extent. I know that he wasn't always there before, and...in fact that is one of the major factors that led to things not working out, but. I know even though he's hardly around, she adores him," she explained, everything just spilling out so easily. He was so easy to talk to and she hadn't really spoken to anyone about it for some time; she started to realize she really needed to talk about it.
"I'm not worried about him. I know that he'll get over things and get on with his life. He has many other things to keep him occupied, " she said with a slight bitterness to her tone before softening again at his offer, "No, it's alright, really. I don't want to bring you into the middle of all this, that's not fair to you. I'm sorry to unload all of this on you, Mishka. We hardly know each other still, and here I am pulling you into the middle of my hectic personal affairs," she frowned at herself, eyes downcast as she scuffed her foot against the floor a few times. Mishka shook his head slowly, as if to quietly disagree with her being worried about bringing her child to The Order. It was true from what he had seen; many people did leave their families behind, but the staff was allowed the occasional vacation and they at least knew that their children were safe at home whereas they may not have been safe staying at The Order. "You have too many worries in head," he said gently, and quickly patting his hand on his leg to make sure he had no flour or batter on it, he gently smoothed his hand over one of her shoulders to quiet some of the worries. "It is different. Many people have other family to take care of child. But Liv's family is here in Order, so daughter of course belong as well. People here so friendly, I cannot imagine unhappiness over sweet girl."
As for the father problem, Mishka made a soft, contemplative noise in the back of his throat. He could see why Liv would be worried about her daughter missing her father, but if the two of them couldn't coexist, which he had long ago assumed from the way Liv seemed to bitterly mention him, there wasn't much that could be done to remedy the problem. "I am sure... she will still see father sometimes. If there is agreement that Luci should be with you, from father, he must also think it is good idea."
He smiled and again repeated that Liv had far too many worries; he was hardly being dragged into anything. He was simply just lending her an ear, as it wasn't as if he could really do anything to help the young woman even if he would have liked to. She was in a precarious situation, one that young women could easily end up in, and even if he didn't say it out loud he swore if he were to meet a young woman whom he was interested in, it would never come to this. "I listen. It is part of job too, as doctor and as friend."

They went through the entire story together, and when the story was finished, he shut the book and set it aside on the table.
"Have you heard that story before?"

She sighed and nodded when he talked about how she worried too much and should stop, "I know. I've always been like this, it's difficult to stop. But I will try," she smiled softly and her eyes crinkled with fondness, "It is what friends do, and you are my friend now afterall."
She laid one of her palms gently against his chest and looked up at him, "Thank you, yet again," she patted her hand against him lightly and then let it fall away from him as she turned to deliver another plate of pancakes to the table.
When she came back she checked the time on the wall and bit her lip. It was getting late, and he probably needed to be in the Infirmary soon, "You should eat something before you have to leave. Cooking took longer than I thought it would. I'm really sorry about that."
