Ah! Always great to see new clarinet peoples! blaugh
Clarinet choir's going to OSU campus for State S & E...and if Jonathan brings one of his dozen OU hoodies we're going to take it and rip it up before all the super-psychotic-OSU-fan people lynch him and the rest of the clarinet choir even before we play. eek

But what is Jonathan without his OU hoodie? gonk The horror! crying Oh wait...Jonathan without his OU hoodie means Jonathan in a tux. surprised Okay, so it's not so bad. blaugh heart

Yay Miyoko!!! blaugh Congratulations! That's so awesome!

And to add to the triumphalness (is that even a word? gonk ), clarinet choir got a 1 in State S&E! Even when Jonathan brought his OU hoodie after all! (Thank God he didn't wear it on campus though gonk ) We were one of the last entries to play, and during the soft parts of our music you could hear the string ensemble next door, we were so quiet. eek And everyone that was in our clarinet choir that had a separate solo got three 1s and one 2. blaugh heart

Wendsay we had contest with judges and we did pretty good. We got two 1's and one 2. So, yeah pretty much owned the other bands, even though two other bands got 1's straight across. And yesh I don't know what else to say.

I'm a clarinet player and I'm a sophmore, I'm going to be a section leader next year for my band and I'm trying out for drum major next year. I hope I make it ^^

good luck kyon kyon!

and jsut do your best, kilala! thats all it is! smile just let goOooOo! ^_^ eat a bannana <3

D: you guys are lucky you all don't have to do an interview...or write an interpretation [even though I must admit I am 1337 at interpreting music...I LOVE doing that!]

and having proffessional musicians judge a little eighth grader is too much [I'm not lying! D: this is the arts academy >_< and boston symphony, pacific symphony, and MIDORI has agreed to help next year when it opens] =/ I'm a little freaked out..the interview is what scares me, I don't know why I can't answer the question what music is to me :/ everyone has literally gasped when they heard me say that @_@; kyao!

but I hope all goes well for you guys!

Guess I really need need NEED serious advice from my fellow clarinet players out there.

I am currently at the end of Sophomore at my current Music Conservatory college in NYC and I'm planning on transferring up to SUNY Potsdam for the Crane School of Music but I am stumbling over audition pieces.

I want to play either the Sonate by Saint Saens or Arabesques by Paul JeanJean. I'm not really sure which to pick. Which do you think I could pull together by October/November/December-ish (Audition dates not out yet). I have NO idea what Arabesques looks like because sheetmusicplus.com has no image of it and I've never heard. For those who have played either of the pieces above (Or both would be a plus), which did you find easier/harder? Which is more technically difficult but able to be put together faster? If anyone has played Arabesques, can you PLEASE scan or take a cellphone picture of at least a page or 2 for me? I really really can't find it online and I wanna see what it looks like before I order it.
