Turada nodded. "indeed, the limiters can connect but the armor seems to have a work around in it. And while the metal is compatible with other armors of this model this particular one seems to refuse it like poison." He said, scratching his chin as he looked into the armor, sitting on the other side of the table from Irvin. He continued to slowly scan over the armor with his eyes, his mind ticking away at what they could possibly do. "Do you suppose it might have mutated? It would explain a lot of the problems we've been having." He said

"Mother made it of an alloy, I thought I did this correctly. " Irvin was scratching his head over this. What was it that she done differently that's not in her notes. He turned to Turada, having forgot he was around. "I don't think it's mutated, but it has been acting differently now Nina's using it. Why are you interested in the armor?"

"It's a fine piece of equipment, I've been able to poke around in its mass produced form but those things are just cheap knock offs compared to the old hand made ones." He explained. "And anyway, maybe it's acting different cause it has changed, consider what its gone through. It's been exposed to so much crystal energy that a change some where wouldn't be out of the question." He said

"Well, Nina was in Mina's womb all that time before. I guess that held back a lot of Nina's magical crystal radiation so to speak." Irvin fixed his glasses and sighed before resting back in his chair. "I think its best I look for the answer alone though. I don't want to rely on my mother for the answer."

"Well, as long as you have her notes you'll always have a good place to start." Turada said, standing up. "My recommendation is, go through things one at a time, see what's different. It may take a while but you should have plenty of time." He said before leaving, letting Irvin be alone. Once out he pulled his journal from his coat and started to write down notes as he walked down the hall.
Nina sat quietly on the couch, a big book spread wide on her lap. She had a pen and paper, and another book by her but none of them were being used. She had looked through Ecalena's collection of books and found one that had caught her eye. She had gotten the other book and the writing supplies thinking she'd need to translate it manually but when she found she could read the book she never used them. While she could ready what the words meant the grammar was something she was having a hard time dealing with so she was going a bit slow.
After finishing ten pages she groaned and rubbed the sides of her head. "uhg, reading this is giving me a headache." She said, closing the book and getting up and going. "I need a distraction." She said. After wandering the house some she saw that only Irvins light was still on. She gently knocked on the door. "Hey Irvin, how's it going?" She asked, seeing if he was still awake.

Hearing the knocking Irvin removed his mother's old goggles from his eyes and around his neck, then opened back the door for Nina. "N-Nina?" He blinked, surprised to see her awake, but even more surprised to see her knocking on his door. He invited her in, not sure as to what else to do. "Alright, though your armor is giving me trouble in repairs. I think that might have to put in an auto repair that runs on you as a battery and hope that it works."

Nina smiled some as she came in. "oh really?" She asked, going over and looking at her armor. "Well, I guess that could work. Though I didn't know there was such a thing as auto repair." She said, not knowing much about armor tech.

"That's because there isn't. It's all still up here in my mind. Your armor being a kind of life support is also kind of alive. I might be able to get it to heal itself with a little engineering. It may not be the fastest, or even the best, but it will repair it." That being said, Irvin went back to his seat and got back to work on the armor. "W-was that the only reason why you came to my room?"

Nina shrugged. "kinda, I've been reading one of your moms old books, the one in the ancient language. Well my head was starting to hurt cause I'd have to go over the lines a few times cause, the grammar was really weird to me. So I came to see what other people were doing but you're the only one up." She explained, sitting down by Irvin and looking at her armor.

Irvin blinked, Nina understood that book? "Oh, lucky me then." He muttered softly. His heart was pounding, he really couldn't take this feeling anymore. The Crystal Engineer began to scratch his head and stare at the Crystal Child. "Nina, I uh, this is kind of hard for me to say..."

"I...have a crush on you, Nina." Confessed the troubled teen. He couldn't believe he was doing this, but he couldn't hold it in for any longer. "And I'm hoping you feel the same way about me as I do about you." Irvin was red as a tomato at this point, and his hand were now nervously clasped together.

Nina blushed some. "Oh, ooh." she said looking away. Her mind started to race as she tried to think of how she would let him down easy. "well, uh, Irvin the thing is." she said, scratching the back of her head. "I, like you, but, but not in that way. You're a great kid and a wonderful friend but, I, don't really have feelings like that for you." She said

"You, you don't?" Irvin's soul was crushed, and did everything in his power to hold back the tears. His head said to let it go and continue working, but his conflicted broken heart caused him to race out of his room and out the house. He ran out into the darkness of the night, towards the tower normally used for festival watch. Irvin just needed a place to be alone right now, his home was not that place at the moment. The tower was once place he tended to go to when he wanted to be alone, away from the watchful eyes of his parents.

Nina rushed out to follow him but Irvin had gotten a head start on her. She ran out of the house and looked around, she looked around, squinting to try and see him. "Damn it." She said, kicking the snow. She went back inside, knowing she'd have to wake his parents up if she wanted to ask where he might go. As she walked down the hall Fara opened the door to the room where she stayed. "what's all the noise?" She asked. "well, I kinda broke Irvins heart and he ran out." Nina explained. "look for some place tall." Fara yawned. Nina blinked some. "how would you know?" She asked. "well, he'd probably go some where safe but obvious, he may not wan to be found but he does want to be found." Fara started to shut the door. "or you could just follow his foot prints." She said as the door shut. Nina face palmed and went back out side, looking down at the snow and following Irvins foot prints since she didn't know what tall thing in town he would go to.
