He continued to explain how all the pieces moved and the general rules.
"Do you understand?"
He could see on her face that he had lost her about half way through. He himself had forgotten how complicated the game could be. Once you learned it was like second nature, but for someone who had never played, trying to remember how all the pieces could move was a huge task in itself.
"We can just play for fun, and I can help you as we go along. You might learn better if we do it that way."

She nodded again, "Okay."

"White makes the first move. To make it less complicated, just move one of your pawns. You can move any one that you want, either one or two spaces foward."
They took turns, and each time it was Chaoe's turn he offered advice and guided her. He tried to let her figure out how to move the pieces on her own, but helped by giving hints when she needed help. They played for at least a full hour before Kanda checked the time.
"I probably should have mentioned how long a game of chess can be."

A small yawn escaped from her.

He stood up and stretched a little.

She looked up at him before looking down at the game.
"..but I don't wanna go back to my room.." She was just about ready to fall asleep then and there.

He twitched and sighed again. It would be even worse trying to explain why it was inappropriate or why someone might see it as wrong. He rubbed his eyes and gave in.
"Just forget about it."
Moving over to the bed he set up one side for her. He went to his closet and pulled out a mat which he sometimes took with him on missions. He also pulled out an extra blanket and took one of the pillows from his bed. He made a place for himself on the floor before going back to where Chaoe was barely conscious. He picked her up and carried her to the bed and tucked her in.
"Don't get used to this," he muttered.

She blinked sleepily when he picked her up, not really hearing much of what he said. After she was tucked in she tried to snuggle into the bed as far as she could. It was warm.
She curled up and fell asleep quickly.
(Now what to do.. = w= *tries to think up something* )
