He kept running until he heard her thud to the ground. Turning around, he skidded to a stop.
"Hey Kid. Are you alright?" he took a couple steps towards her.

She sniffled a little before sitting up, holding her leg.
There was a bloody gash down it.
"Y-yeah, i'm fine.." She stared down at the wound, swallowing hard.

Kanda sighed and walked over to her, kneeling down.
"You need to be more careful. You can't keep hurting yourself like this. Baka.."
He looked closer at the gash and sighed again.
"We need to get you to the infirmary so they can patch this up. Don't keep looking at it."

"Sorry.."
She shook her head, "No, i'm fine. It'll heal." Her eyes dulled a little, she didn't want to go to the infirmery.
Another swallow, she stood up on shaky legs. "I can still play."

He stood up and stood his ground.
"You're getting that leg bandaged up, or we won't play anymore."

She looked up at him in horror.
She didn't want to go to the infimery but..
"Okay.." She looked at the floor in defeat.

He stared down at her and watched carefully.

"I can walk."
She took a step, chewing the inside of her mouth. It hurt but she didn't want to be a bother.
Besides, it was going to heal soon anyway. Right?
She looked down at it, suddenly feeling a bit paniced, her eyes watered and she started to cry.
"Why isn't it working?" She rubbed at her eyes, scared.

"Don't cry," he demanded.
He leaned down and scooped her up in his arms.
"There's no reason to cry. Your leg will get bandaged and you'll feel better."
He tried to act stoic, hoping that it would rub off on her. He knew she was still a kid, but it was only a cut on her leg. Certainly she had been through worse out on missions, or had seen worse happen to others.

She clung to him, hiding her face, and nodded.
(Perhaps now might not be the best time but...Chaoe's gonna die :U )

He hugged her close to his chest and stroked her ponytail gently. He tried to comfort her as best as he could. He hoped he hadn't been too harsh before.
"Think about the Lotus flower."

Her grip tightened, she sniffled a bit and let her mind wander to the pictures of the flower he had shown her earlier. Her crying died down.

He felt very uneasy at her distress, but was glad when her crying died down. When they got to the infirmary he was greeted by a nurse immediately.
"What happened this time?" she demanded.
"She just cut her leg while playing, it's nothing bad," he replied to the nurse.
"Let me see her," she tutted.
The nurse tried to take Chaoe from his arms but he wouldn't let her. He pushed the nurse's hands away roughly and scowled.
"I've got her. I can bandage her leg just fine, get me the dressings."

(No xD; I'm not THAT mean. In a couple years actually, like, real life years. :V So no worries.)
Chaoe turned her head slightly to glance around the infirmery from the corner of her eyes.
She flinched a bit when she heard a few nurses talking close by, her grip tightened again.
"It looks like that child is here again."
"You know what I heard? Someone said that she might be heading back to the branch soon. It's awful, do you think its really gotten that bad?"
"I'm not sure, but if she really is becoming 'faulty' as they said we really can't do much about it. It's Mister Rolf's choice and we all know what ends up happening then."
"Mn..the poor dear. She's so young too..just awful.."

(( Oh. Well I may not have to be around to see it then! c: ))
Kanda paid no attention to the hushed tones of the other nurses, and directed his attention to Chaoe. He set her down on the edge of one of the beds and kneeled in front of her. When the nurse came back with the dressings she looked ruffled, but immediately walked away again after he shot her a warning glare. He set to work on Chaoe's leg, concentrating as he cleaned the wound and bandaged it.
