He took the new information in, but didn't falter in his flat expression until Rei spoke his name.
"How do you know my name?" he lifted his chin a little and shifted on his feet.

"You're rather famous around here. It's not hard to pick up a few things." He clutched the doll, "My daughter seems to look up to you greatly young man."
He sighed and ran his fingers over the dolls head carefully, "She..she really does mean the world to me, even if I did leave her. I never meant for all of those horrible things to happen to her.." His hand stopped, eyes narrowing.
"Yu Kanda, do this older man a favor and look after her to your best abilities? She tries to act tough but she's still just a child." He stood up, "I'm not asking you to hold her hand everywhere or to watch her every move- but just keep an eye on her. I'm afriad some very bad things will be happening soon."
He glanced at Kanda, a very serious expression on his face.

Kanda paused quietly for a few minutes. He looked around at nothing and then back to the man.
"You need to leave before one of the higher-ups finds you here," he said sternly as he grabbed the man by his sleeve and tugged hard.

Rei smiled sadly, "Yu, no one will find me."
His mid-section started staining red. "Especially Yuuka- she...she can't see me.."
His eyes watered, "My precious flower- she can't see me even though i'm always with her. I've seen things- I know what those people did and I couldn't do a single thing to stop them."
His jaw clenched, "Promise me Kanda. You need to look out for my daughter for me."

Kanda immediately let go and took a step back at the sight of the blood. He gripped the hilt of Mugen tighter.
"I...promise," he replied with a frown, and his tone sounded uncertain, like a question.
He added sternly again, "You need to leave now."

Rei smiled warmly, "You're a good man Kanda."
There was a sickening splat- some of his organs were slipping out onto the floor.
"I did a horrible thing to her, you know? I knew she was there watching, I heard her but I just couldn't stop myself. I let my daughter- a five year old child, watch me plung that knife into myself over. and over. and over again until I couldn't move." His eyes narrowed, "I was weak, I couldn't handle the fact that Yurika was gone and that my child looked so much like her. I was selfish." He sighed as his hand started to fade.
"She blames herself- it's all my fault she's suffered. My only wish is that she'll get over me and live happily. Thank you for making her smile."
He glanced up at a clock and smiled sheepishly, "Perhaps I should listen to your advice. She'll be back tonight and I don't want to cause more trouble then I already have." He turned around and stopped, "Oh!"
He set the kappa doll down on the couch, "Can't take this with me, see you around Kanda Yu. It was a good talk."
He smiled and faded.
(Yeah, I forgot to mention he's dead...and a bit guilty :U )

He struggled to keep his face straight during Rei's short monologue, and when the man faded away he leaned against the wall, staring at the Kappa. He closed his eyes for several minutes, leaning his head back against the wall. When he finally opened his eyes, he shook his head and snatched the Kappa up as he headed for his room. He wasn't hungry for soba anymore.

Small feet pattered against the hallway floor, Chaoe let out a small 'oomph' as she bumped into Kanda. She fell down, shaking her head she looked up and blinked.
"Ah- Yu-nii! Long time no see." She smiled shyly before standing back up and dusting herself off.

"I found this while you were gone. Be more careful about where you leave it, kid."

She made a confused face, "Huh?" She took the doll and turned her head to the side. "That's weird..I thought I left him in my room.."
She smiled sheepily, "Thank you Yu-nii, I will be more careful next time. Promise."
She hugged the doll tightly, a little sadness flashed in her eyes.
"Thank you so much- I don't know what I would do if I lost him." She laughed shyly.
"So, where are you headed? Back to your room? Or maybe to get something to eat?" She looked up at him with big curious black eyes.

"Don't mention it.." he replied before turning to look at her.
He hesitated before lifting his hand and gently resting it atop her head. He gave her a small pat and then let his hand fall to his side again.
"I was just going back to my room."

She blinked, a bit confused at the gesture. Her cheeks turned a light pink.
"I see.." She looked at the floor in thought, uncertain, but decided to try.
"Would you mind if I came along for the walk?"

He looked down at her and then smiled very slightly, "You can come if you want to."
He started for his room and turned his head back to see if she was following, almost like he was checking for a stray kitten following him home.

(( xD It is...but sadly, I have to go to bed now. Goodnight! We can finish another time. c: ))
He looked forward when she started following him, and smiled a little more when she couldn't see his face. He walked along silently with her, and when they reached his room he stood there awkwardly with his hand on the knob, not sure what to do then. He looked down at her and blinked.
